My wife and I came to Ya'amava fora Lionel Richie concert. We were hungry so we went to George Lopez' Chingon Restaurant. We have never been here, so it was confusing. We stood in line to order, only to be told that you have to order outside on amount or for debit or credit orders. The line I was in was for cash only. NO SIGNS TO STATE THAT. We went outside and I made my order first. It was like a Chipotle style ordering center, where you out together your meal. It didn't take my order first, so I had my wife order, then I made my order again. Then we went inside to find ourselves a seat. That was easy. They text your phone when your order was ready for pick up. We got our text and went to pick up our food. I stood in what appeared to be the only line. Only to be told I should have been in the other line. She looked mad, but helped me anyways. I told her, I have never been here before and that the ordering and pick up are confusing. She helped me anyways. My wife and I got bowls, like at chipotle. My wife's order was wrong, mine was fine. I ordered a tortilla on the side, just like I do at chipotle. The TORTILLA WAS AMAZING. Then I noticed someone in the window making them by hand. Man... the tortilla was great. It really complimented the food. My wife got a carnitas bowl and I got a Al pastor bowl. Both bowls were delicious. I also got a Michilada. Their Michilada mix was awesome. So delicious. The bar staff was more courteous. The 4 rating was due to the service. They should have someone at the door directing the customers. They should have better signage. The staff, which looked like a first line supervisor should have been more courteous and understanding. Food: Chicken Burrito: (4/5) The tortillas are made fresh and you can really taste the difference. Their tortillas add an extra fluffiness and softness to each bite. The chicken is super tender and flavorful. The burrito is pretty hefty and made me full. Definitely worth it. Tamales: (2/5) I would pass on these. They come with two tamales and two sides, but the portion was small and not much filling inside. Churros: (3/5) I'm not a churro connoisseur but the inside of the churros were a bit doughy. The outside wasn't as crispy as I'd expect, but I love the coating of cinnamon and sugar on the outside. Definitely satisfied my sugar craving. What made this experience horrible was the cashier told us ahead of time that we would get a text when our meal was ready. I waited 30 minutes even when it was not that crowded. George's kitchen is set up like chipotle but with elote, churros, and more for desert. Everything here was delicious. My friend John and I came in after a day of gambling. We worked up an appetite and split tacos, burritos, and their street corn. We wanted to try everything. Their asada and chicken hit the spot. The chicken was probably my favorite. For my first visit I tried the Bowl (which was absolutely ginormous), filled with Al Pastor, pico, onion, cilantro, tomato, and hand-made guac. It also came with a side of corn or flour tortillas to make your own tacos! To finish off the meal we ordered the Artisan Churros. These are made fresh in-house and served with sides of chocolate (meh) and caramel sauce (yum!). Came to Yaamava on Christmas Day.. that was the worst idea possible. If anyone went on Christmas Day you know.. the traffic, the parking. Utter and complete chaos. But this is not a review on Yaamava and their inept parking situation. We came to try out George Lopez's Chingon Kitchen. We sat at the cantina portion to decide what we wanted to order. We decided we didn't want to wait in the horrendous line and ordered from the bar. It is a limited menu at the bar with small plates such as taquitos, nachos, chips salsa, churros etc. We all looked back at the line to order food and decided we could survive on the taquitos, complimentary chips and salsa (when you order a drink) and some churros. Soooo glad we did that. The taquitos were a giant portion and on a bed of lettuce that was the size of a side salad. The chips and salsa were delicious and salsa was hot! Churros were to die for and came with caramel dip sauce. Our service at the bar was phenomenal, a bit slow, but incredibly friendly and attentive. The drinks were cold and delicious. At 7pm they had a band come on and it was loud and fun and amazing. We look forward to going back. The margarita flight was so good some of us flew two times! read more

The tacos with a side of rice and refried beans is the best. The refried beans are so good. I wish I can bring a bowl back home every time. The homemade tortillas is my favorite also. Literally has been 3 years since I last ate here! I was so excited to go but everything is different now! Sad to say the huge dissatisfaction and disappointment as they no longer have where you can walk up and select the items you want in your meal like previous but had to order from the table with much confusion as to how. 18$ total for one build your own burrito but they charge you $4 for meat and $3 more for guacamole only for your food to arrive and missing guacamole in both burritos and one burrito missing the carne asada! Always enjoyed going to George Lopez's Chingon kitchen but last night was really bad. I waited over an hour for my food. People were frustrated waiting to eat. I spoke to three women that said they waited an hour and a half to get their food that is totally unacceptable and now everything is premade, what happened to the great experience of customizing your own food especially that awesome burrito. When I finally got my burrito, quality of the food was still pretty good except for the tortilla seemed kind of raw and it was definitely a lot smaller than before when I used to customize my own I go there often, but I don't think I'll visit again because I don't feel like waiting an hour and a half, especially when I'm very hungry. There's so many other places to eat at so I might have to try something new but no worries you'll still have people waiting an hour and a half to enjoy the food. I wasn't expecting a line to order food, let alone to not be asked if I wanted cheese or anything else!! I had to get the attention of my food servers and half the time I was ignored, and just felt like I didn't belong in Mr Lopez' restaurant!!! This place was one of my favorite things about visiting the San Manuel Casino. I grew up watching the George Lopez show and love his work as a comedian, so when my dad and I found out he has a restaurant here too...we left mom and grandma at the slot machines and went on to eat some good food. First of all, the interior is dope. It's modern, rustic and historic at the same time. The word "chingon" defines someone as smart, intimidating, quick-minded, tough and uncompromising (among many other words that can be found on Google). With that, a lot of artwork was displayed around the restaurant to give off that "attitude" of food being served with the artistic touch of a chingon...and when you know that chingon is George Lopez, how could one resist? The walls are all brick. The signs are matte gold. One of the light fixtures had Patron bottles hanging from the lights. There was a huge, beautiful bar display with almost any bottle you could think of. The fountain machine was one of those touch screen ones. I think I even spotted a Frida Kahlo picture but I don't know if I'm remembering correctly. ELOTES 5/5: We started with these and they were the size of half a cob of corn. So yummy! Perfectly covered all throughout with the goods. TAQUITOS 4/5: Not bad at all. A bit too hard for my liking and the filling was pretty decent. This Mexican food tastes a bit more Americanized for me because I know what street Mexican food is supposed to taste like so I'm definitely being biased. Regardless, it was delicious and we loved the heaping guacamole dollops topping the taquitos. SOFT TACOS 4/5: Very delicious and filling. They were not skimping out on the meat and veggies at all. Loved topping it off with lime and topping it with the side white refried beans we ordered. I wish they had a salsa bar. Perhaps it's changed since we last visited but it might add a little more authenticity. I'd definitely come back. The service was quick and very friendly. I'm craving it now! read more
