I tried to buy an engagement ring put a down payment on 07/18/15, they tried to sell us a saphire that they said was not treated not enhance was narural and from Sri Lanka. We wanted certification it took them two weeks to send it out after we did not accept George's Son as the certifier for the stone to save $300 in GIA certification paperwork. (Which would on reflection cost us $2500) After a total of waiting 2.5 months they finally showed the certificate. It was origin not determinable, a enhanced color treated stone. We said we wanted our money back, she said I was not able to find what you wanted for your price. This was not the same response she gave to us before it was sent out. Guess where chemically enhanced stones come from (Bangkok Thailand) They wanted $2500 for the stone which is worth about $500 at best Buyer beware and always get GIA certified!!! read more

My husband bought my engagement ring in December of 2012, our wedding was in August of 2013. By the time my wedding had come around I had already lost a diamond. When I took it back to get it fixed they huffed and puffed about fixing it even though I hadn't even had it for a year let alone 6 months. When I got the ring back, I could immediately tell which diamond had been replaced, it ultimately looked like a dirty diamond and looked as if I still had a missing diamond. In September of 2013 ONE month after my wedding, I lost yet another diamond!! I took the ring back a SECOND time, when I got it back, again it looked like a dirty diamond and could spot immediately where it had been replaced. I had a serious problem with this since I hadn't even had the ring a year. I was told that it was because the rings are "hand made" and was "sized" to fit my finger, which was completely incorrect since we walked out of the store with the ring on my finger as it fit perfectly and there was no need for sizing. I went back yet again only for them to tell me that I had to leave my ring so that they could make me a "new" one with my existing diamonds. NO I want a new ring period! I got a new ring SIX months later because nobody bothered to call me or my husband to say that my ring was ready for pick up. After being traumatized that I was going to lose my diamonds yet again, over the last two years I only wear my ring for special occasions. For some strange reason I decided to wear my ring for longer than one night or a weekend, and what do you know, I lost ANOTHER diamond!!! I'm so irritated with this place and the horrible quality of their work I will never buy another piece of jewelry from there! The WORST customer service and quality EVER! read more

I came in a little more than a year ago and was assisted by Ann the manager in selecting the perfect engagement ring. She helped me along the way with my down payment and monthly payments until everything was all paid off. As life continued for my fiancé and I, there was a little issue with the ring and I overnighted it back to Ann from Florida (where we now reside). I am writing this because her customer service and kindness was great throughout everything. That being said, when I dealt with someone else or showed up and she wasn't there, it was awful. After going to Jared and being pressured into purchasing a set for 7800.00 that came with a lifetime warranty, that they later told me I had to pay for, I decided to visit George after hearing a commercial on the radio. I emailed them asking about having an existing diamon moved to a new setting and i was told that they can and that they have settings ranging from $200 and up. I replied asking how much it would cost to move the diamond and I got no reply. So I went to the store and the lady that helped me didnt seem like she was very eager to sell. He really listened to what I wanted it to look like and found me exactly that. For my wedding band he had something similar to what I wanted but not exact so he had them alterate it to my taste. We recently decided to have a couple more bands made to add to the ring and they didn't have the original cast anymore. They took the ring, took it apart, made a mold of the band, made two more bands and then attached everything back together. We understood the employees were busy with other customers, but not one of them thanked us for coming in and telling us they were busy and would help us shortly. They didn't seem to notice we were even in the store (3 of us--mid 50s and 20 something). We were in the market to spend approximately $10,000 on a wedding set/engagement combo and resetting a diamond/purchasing 2 more loose diamonds. We noted they had water and soda-this was not offered to us to sip on while we waited. When we left, no one seemed to notice except the doorman (he also said nothing to us) as he let us out. Bought a ring there that requires yearly check of prongs to maintain warranty. Took it in and was told by a woman there prongs worn down and would cost $275 to fix! Was told if I did repair somewhere else, it would no longer be under warranty. Went to 3 different jewelers and the highest estimate was $100. Had it beautifully fixed and cleaned better than ever. George Thompson is a rip off. Trying to hold returning customers hostage to maintain warranty is criminal. They lost my business. read more

I came here to buy my husbands wedding band. I waited til last minute to buy it so unfortunately they didn't have his size. I bought a 1/2 size bigger just for the wedding & was informed I can take it back to have them order the correct size. The man who helped me was so unwilling to help!! We previously had my husband sized at Daniels Jewelers & they said he was a size 8. When I came back it was a hassle for them to order my size 8 ring. They said they would call me once the ring came it. I NEVER RECEIVED A CALL. I had to call them in which they replied it has been in for a couple days. Anyways, the size 8 was still too big for my husband. We then went in together & were helped by the sweetest sales lady. They were about to close in 5 mins but she proceeded to have my husband try on numerous rings to make sure we order the right size. Then my old sales man came. He then mocked my husband.. telling him "Are you sure you're a size 7?" well DUH he just tried on multiple rings. He then told him he needed to put on weight & told the man ordering the ring online that he needed a tungsten ring for a girl.. so unless you wanna be treated rude & mocked here this is your place. Long story short, I had been married a year and had been there about 6-7 times with stones falling out and a bent(yes,bent!!2 times!) engagement ring. Hi I am taking the time to write a review because of the extreme bad customer service I received. ..my husband bought me a replacement wedding ring for Christmas at George Thompson here in Camarillo , because mine was stolen purse and all. I got it caught on a shelf and it almost ripped the diamond right off..so we took it to the store and the jeweler looked at it and said he would fix it...but for a fee. I only wore this for maybe three months. So being we were disappointed to hear that, I put the ring back in the beautiful box it came in and left the store, as we were leaving, the lady said please wait and let me get my manager. It should not have to be like that, especially with the expense of this sort of item. I had my husband go back in to see what the manager could do about it. ..they are now fixing the ring at no additional cost. ..oh and by the way..a customer that was in the store, said she was picking hers up also, same thing happened to hers....VERY DISAPPOINTED. .DON'T GO... read more
