I came here because a friend recommended them and have been coming to them for about 2.5 yrs now . Whenever I come they take me right in and and also no BS on over selling Unnecessary repairs. They fix what's broken or needed and that's it. I even remembering asking at one point if I May need a repair Can't remember what it was , they said you def don't need to change it now ! Now that's honest. Wouldn't go anywhere else. . Been to multiple mechanics prior to Tonya's and were overpriced and under trained ! Since the new owner took over the quality of work is not the same. Went to get tie rods and ball joint put on my truck and they didn't even put my dust cover on the ball joint. And best thing is they didn't put the cotter pin or torque down the bolt on the tie rod. Which by the way came of while I had my child in the vehicle with me and my tire starts doing the death wobble because the bolt came off. read more

I used to be George's customer and I trusted the guy. Unfortunately, he is not there any more. Whoever took over is not trustworthy. I sent my daughter over there to change oil and they tricked her into unnecessary repair and charged for that about 40-50%% above the market price. And how do I know it was not necessary ? Because about 3,000 miles ago they themselves examined the car's break and it was normal. There's no way in the world 3,000 miles later it required all four rotors changed to the extend she cant drive the car. And not for double the market price for sure. Wasn't ripped off or pressured into "fixing" issues that I was not aware of like other shops try to scare you into thinking your car is going to fall apart once you leave their shop. George & Tanya Automotive .. over the past 7 yr. This shop has NEVER failed me. Never over Charge Me.. Never not repaired my cars properly. I went one time some where else.. BIG Mistake.. That other place.. charged me $400.+ Damaged my calipers on the brake job my brakes would not release. Stupid me.. Should have stayed Where i Never Have a problem.(and saved the $400.). My air conditioner was not working. I went upon a recommendation of someone, but I'm sorry I did because after spending over a grand (in all over the course of 3 separate times) I still don't have AC. First, I tried the freon thing, which all leaked out. Another mechanic said it would be $300-something to fix. I took it to George's and he said that guy was wrong and that it was something else, so it was nearly $400. I got my AC back but it only lasted about a week. I took it back, and he said it was another thing. I spent another almost $500. It worked for about two weeks, and then once again... stopped working. So after the third attempt and too much money spent, I am not ever going back. The only reason why I gave 2 stars was because he did spend a lot of time trying to weld something so I appreciate the effort there, but there was no guarantee of work and still driving around in the blazing hot FL sun with no AC. Also very disorganized. Receipts all over the place. I know most mechanics are very messy but if you can't even find a receipt for a customer who is standing right in front of your face, then that is beyond messy and would be classified in the "disorganized" category. Sorry... not happy. I should have used a mechanic up the street but I went by my friend's recommendation. read more

I have used George's for about 15 years. George was a gem of a guy and i used him for transmission replacement in an old Jeep and for work on my wife's Ford Escape for injectors, A/C and suspension work. Always honest and fair. Not the cleanliest place but that was not what I was buying. Unfortunately, George died about a year ago and now Tonya, George's wife has hired a mechanic named Scott. Again pleased with the service and the shop is still very busy. Not the place I would take a brand new car for service but great for a vehicle with some age..... read more

George may not be the prettiest guy you'll ever meet... and his garage is a haphazard wasteland. HOWEVER, he is an outstanding mechanic of the old school variety that is honest and charges a fair amount for the work that needs to get done. He has no problem telling you if he's not the guy for the job. I recommend him fully. read more

Any idiot can hold a wrench while drinking a beer and call themselves a mechanic. My girlfriend blew her motor out and took it her car to Georges Auto in Delray. The engine that they ordered and installed in her 2004 Toyota Corolla must have came from a car from Katrina!!! It has All sorts of Problems that $1800 should not pay for. Georges Refused to Fix the problems citing, that the Car is Running Perfect!! What!! Her Engine is Vibrating such as if it were only running on 2 cyl! when you scan the engine cpu, Every Code Possible Registers as a Problem!!! These guys will promise you the world and deliver you SQUAT!! Thousands of Dollars Later....Still Having Issues. read more

I was out with a friend for lunch with my wife's car. Suddenly the air conditioning stopped. I went to the Lexus dealer and was told I would need a new compressor. The cost was prohibitive. My friend suggested we stop off at George's Automotive Repair, for a second opinion. He examined the car and told me the problem was just a stuck thermostat. George replaced it and it the air conditioner worked as good as new. If you are not mechanically inclined, a thermostat is much less expensive than a new compressor. I usually bring my car to Firestone for an oil change. You can always be assured they will find something else wrong. I immediately bring my cars to George. Most of the time it is nothing, but once in awhile there is a problem. George fixes them for much less than I was quoted. Many of my friends use George and they have never complained negatively to me. George is a throw-back to the crackerjack mechanic. He can analyze your problem and fix it better than the new by-the-book mechanics. read more

I live an hour north of George's (and work 2 hrs west) but decided to use him as a friend of mine recommended him. He replaced the brake pads, and when I picked up my car I noticed the center emblem of the hub cap was missing on the front driver wheel. He insisted that it must have been missing when the car came in but said he would look for it at the end of the day and that he would replace it if he couldn't find it. I felt that was fair. Once I was halfway home, I checked the onboard computer and he had only reset it for the rear pads not the front. So now I needed to find time to drive back down to have the computer reset for the front.( I also had a flat tire on the way home in my new tire-a nail - coincidence maybe?) In the mean time I purchased a used emblem off ebay $55 like he told me. When I returned to have the work completed, I asked if he could also check my ac, he did, said he needed more time to trouble shoot it, that he didn't have time. No problem. He then said, I'll just deduct 50 off the ac work when you come back. I told him no, that wasn't the deal as I live so far away, I don't know if or when I can get back. I never got ugly or disrespectful but I wouldn't give in. He finally said that he didn't want me as a customer that I was a crazy bitch! read more
