Old style family restaurant with all the usuals. Our food was solid but it was just eggs and hash browns. They did have some interesting choices from Huevos Rancheros to Chicken Fried Steak. They make a Mickey Mouse pancake for the kids and my grandson had some fun Corn Dog nuggets that were tasty. The carpet on the way to the restrooms smelled musky though. But overall you can't go wrong here.

    French Toast! Delicious!

They had a breakfast buffet but we ordered from menu. It was absolutely delicious and homestyle cooked. Waiter was great but forgot his name.

I had the Western omelette with a side of oil on it and well Kraft singles melted on my food ticked me off. I refused anything else from this place and well I was ready to leave the moment I see this. I am sorry but the whole time I was here all I heard was the microwave cooking. I am going down the street and never coming back sorry.

Pancakes, biscuits and gravy, recession proof breakfast, coffee (always filled before empty and hot), and sourdough toast.

I will forever give this place 5 stars. Always has the best breakfast. I've been coming to this place since 2015 and while I only order a few things, it's been consistently good. The service is always good, even on their busiest days you aren't ever forgotten, the foods always correct and hot, and the wait staff are pleasant. The atmosphere feels like grammas dining room, putting family in the name was correct. Come in and sit anywhere type of place.

Avocado toast with a nice selection of tomatoes and feta cheese.

We walked in and were told to sit anywhere. People were friendly and it seemed there were a number of regulars in for breakfast. It was a bit darker than a lot of restaurants, but not uncomfortably so. The workers have loud conversations that you expect in a diner. We had the steak and eggs, which also came with potatoes, and biscuit and gravy. Another had the avocado on sourdough bread. It came with a good side of mixed fresh fruit. Both were good. No complaints about the steak and eggs. The biscuits and gravy is what you want with a good country breakfast! The prices were higher than I would expect for breakfast. For the two of us the bill was $34 before tip. But to be fair, maybe that is just our current crazy economy. The only thing I would not recommend is the cappuccino. It is from a powder and not real.

    Actual reciept vs charge.

Do not eat here! I was charged $52.01 for a $43.34 check. Food was cold. Server was terrible. She never checked on our COLD food, undercooked hashbrowns, never brought a chocolate milk- and charged me for it. Called management to get situation remedied, was told it was my bank. Verified it was not on the bank and was charged a 22.5% tip via the customer terminal in which the cashier selected without knowledge. They are crooks and have no shame. Food is cold and undercooked. Find a better place. Do better George's. Do better. Or gracefully bow out and close your doors.

Drive by this place every day since i recently moved here and wanted to check it out. Upon entering there is no sign to wait to be seated or to seat yourself so I just stood there for a while until a customer at a nearby table told me to sit anywhere which I did. Not long afterwards I was greeted and handed a menu. I chose a super sampler with scrambled eggs, Georgie hash browns and sourdough toast. I was shocked how quickly it arrived, I'd barely received my coffee when the meal was delivered. Upon first glance I was impressed. Bacon was crispy and yummy, sausage patty was tasty but that was all that was good. Scrambled eggs were not light or fluffy, kinda burnt on one side and chewy, toast was barely buttered, it was difficult to tell which side was actually buttered. The pork had issues, nice char lines on it but it was barely warm so I decided to just eat the edges but left most of it. The George hash brown which is loaded and cost $1.99 extra was revolting, it was swimming in oil, I tried to drain it off but there was so much. Server should have noticed the almost untouched pork and hash browns and inquired if everything was ok, especially when I denied a to go box. She did notice the big pool of oil when she took my plates away, she even showed it to another worker but still delivered the check without saying anything. Cashier didn't ask if everything was ok, just took my money and said nothing. Glad I tried it but won't be back.

Enter The Grotto west coast food. Since I lived on the west coast for 40 years I thought it was appropriate that I come to judge the West coast authenticity. This place is awesome. My friend had a Baja bowl that looked and smelled divine and I had the steak Gorgonzola salad, the meat portion was huge and the candied pecans were delicious. I might even bring my super judgmental west coast rude family here since I think even they would be pleased at how delicious the food was. We sat in a comfy booth and loved every bite of our meal, the balsamic vinaigrette was the perfect complement to the savory steak and sweet pecans. I can't wait to go back to the grotto

Fiancé picked the burger and he was pleased with it, he said he would come back for it, so maybe just don't get the chicken sandwich. Everyone working at this spot was very nice and super friendly! The location itself was very clean and staff were going through table by table and cleaning everything (I was shocked because it was already very clean).

LOUD AF on a Tuesday night with incredibly slow service…read more I like to eat in local places while we're on the road. Read about this place being historic with a beautiful bar and lovely tin ceiling. And that is all true. Walked in and could not believe how loud the single singer with an acoustic guitar was. There was a sound engineer, working a board, so he must've thought that level was OK. But you could not have a conversation at all. I was wishing for earplugs. When we first stepped in, I considered just looking at the carved mahogany bar and going somewhere else. But, we figured it should be fast and we could endure the cacophony for a short time. We were so wrong about it being fast. There was only one wait staff working that night, and she was also behind the bar. When she finally moseys over to us, she admitted she had forgotten all about us. She then took our drink order, and the drinks came quickly. But then she literally never came back to take a food order. Watched her go to all the other tables, watched her clean off the bar, watched her answer a phone call for a takeout order, and then I finally went up to the bar and asked her if we could put in a food order. Once the food was ordered it came out quickly. My husband's smashburger and candied pecan salad were both really delicious. I am a sucker for a local food item whenever I see it on the menu, and I made the mistake of ordering the cashew chicken poutine. The cashew sauce had zero flavor and was just overly salty. The chicken was fried very tough. At least the cheese curds were good. But I barely ate any of it. Nothing but regret about this choice.

Eating in a wing back chair, at some odd table, isn't well suited for dining. But, sure looks neat. The food is ok to good: Burger : The burger was really good. Has some jam sauce on it which really works. Beef has a good flavor. The bacon was very good. . Potato soup: The soup is good....but needed far greater seasoning to have it be great. Pork Wings: Again, needed more seasoning to elevate the pork. And the dipping sauces were a bit unusual. And the Asian style sauce - by gosh did it have a ton of saffron. Patagonia side item: These potato chunks weren't much. Potatoes were nothing special, under seasoned and the dipping sauce was unusual. And so much saffron, it was way overpowering. . Is it worth going to - absolutely and the place is neat. But I give an extra 1/2 to 1 star more, just because of the neatness of the place.

I really wanted to like The Table…read more The space itself is absolutely beautiful -- one of the best dining rooms in Springfield -- and it feels like the kind of place that should deliver a more elevated, full-service experience. That's part of what made the counter-service model feel a little out of sync with the atmosphere. We first tried visiting as a group of about 12 on a Saturday around 7 PM. I had called ahead and was told they don't take reservations, so we planned accordingly. When we arrived, we were told there wasn't any way to accommodate our group together -- not even the option to wait for space to open up -- so we ended up going elsewhere. I did come back later with a smaller group for lunch. The experience was better logistically, but still a bit disjointed. The menu felt somewhat scattered, and while we were able to find seating at a communal table, the overall flow felt a bit chaotic. After ordering at the counter, the wait for food was quite long -- around 45 minutes or more -- which gave us plenty of time to observe how things were running. Toward the end, I noticed tables being marked as unavailable/reserved, which made me wonder why a similar approach couldn't have worked for larger groups earlier. When the food arrived, it was good -- nothing wrong with it -- but not especially memorable, especially considering the wait and price point. There's a lot to like here, especially the space and overall concept, but the execution didn't quite match the expectations for me. I do think with some adjustments to service flow and consistency, this could be a much stronger experience.
