A star? This place needs to be shut down. I just called this piece of sh*t place because i just moved to town.. asking the guys for FROMM foods, he said he doesnt sell frog food and hung up on me. So I called back & he purposely didnt answer. Tried again because I figured maybe he was busy, finally answered and told me to learn to speak english, uhm. For starters, the fact that you even insulted a customer over the phone is a sure enough sign to me that your probably not making alot of money and well i can see why. This store owner, worker, whoever didnt even give me time to spell out what it was exactly that I wanted before rudely telling me he had a line of people and didnt want to help me because he misheard what i said. Now whoever that was. I work from home, i have an autistic child and a german shepard. I just moved to this small town and the move itself on me has been stressful. And i too want to be rude and mean to everyone, but obviously you must be going through A LOT worse to talk to ANYONE the way you talked to me. I feel like such a dupe for buying my birdseed on Amazon. How could I forget about this place? I came here to get black oil sunflower seed for the sparrows, doves, pigeons and finches that frequent my feeders. I'd been buying the Wagner brand in a 20 lbs bag on Amazon for the last year and I liked it. This time around though, I wanted to check out George's for a few different reasons - 1) He's a local business and I love supporting those, 2) It's close to home and 3) I wanted to see his prices for egg laying hens, just for future reference. I came inside and saw that he had 4 lbs (gallon sized) bags of black oil sunflower seed among many other varieties of seed and scratch, including several blends. After waiting for the employee working the register to finish with the customer ahead of us I was greeted by George and the employee working the register. I asked about the prices for bigger quantities of the black oil sunflower seed and he said they had it in a 50 lbs bag for $30. Having been buying the 20 lbs Wagner bags for $16-$20 I pounced on the chance to get more than double at a great price. Hearing the phrase "Someone will load it into your car for you." after paying was really nice too. After heading outside and popping my trunk open, my daughter and I went to look at the chickens that are kept out there. Oh, how I wish I could have taken 2 of those hens home to eat bugs from my garden and lay eggs for me on this visit. Not today, but soon my feathered friends, soon. Having gotten the seed home I opened the bag to find some bits of stem here and there, but not so much that I felt ripped off by any means. I just refilled my feeders and I'm already hearing my neighborhood birds fighting over the bounty of seeds before them. Looks like they agree too, we'll be back! Thanks George! read more

My family loves this store what a great find. We are third generation shoppers and make this a weekly stop for something hay, dog food, bird food. They do not take credit cards make sure to have cash or your check book and they get extremly busy so answering the phone isnt always possible but, The customer service is always great there friendly and super willing to help out or just answer questions. I went there today because George's is closer to my house than any other feed store. They do not accept ATM, debit or credit. So I had to drive to the gas station to get cash. When I returned I went inside to get chicken feed and George was sitting behind the counter too busy stuffing his face to help me. He was so rude when he eventually did try to help me I just put my stuff down and left the store. I am glad I did because I ended up getting two more pounds of scratch for the same price at Western Ranch in Vacaville. I would rather spend less money get good service and have to drive a few extra miles than deal with George's again. Lesson learned. read more

Called to check when they closed. They said 5:00. I said I'd be there in 15 minutes so I'd be there at 5, I needed one thing and I told her what it is(vaccination needle) so I could run in, get it and be gone. I arrived at the store at 5:00 like I said, the store looked long closed(gates were down, both employees were already in there cars) at 5:00, meaning they closed up early. I flagged down the guy still left(the girl I talked to sped off as soon as she saw me) I explained to him that I had called and the lady I talked to said as long as I was there by 5:00 it was fine. I showed him that it was 5:00 on the dot and they had closed up early. He gave me an excuse about having to be in concord in a half an hour, which isn't my problem. they closed up shop early and the girl I talked to didn't even tell him, who happened to be the manager at the time, about my call. Found out about this store because my local feed store was out of bulk Chick Starter feed, and was looking for another relatively close place to run to. Got there about 10 mins before they closed, and they were very friendly, had 5lb bags right out there of everything, and I can't wait to go back and look around some more. This business has been in the area for 30 years and has always provided fair prices and good friendly service. It is one of the last small feed businesses that has not succumbed to chain stores. So yeah it may smell a little and you may not get your butt kissed every time you go in there, but if you want a straight answer to what you are looking for and genuine old fashion help to your vehicle come here. I also work for Solano county and my place of employment has been pleased with the service.....same day deliveries is so appreciated. George's is an ole country feed store and as I walk into his store and see the diversity of our community right there I feel quite welcomed. George has been around for more than 45 years. He has seen many stores go by the wayside. The place is open everyday, he has a entire building full of feed. Tries to keep a poker face while people come in and ask the dumbest questions. He buys local and sells local. I've seen people get upset when he tells them to save their money because they don't need what they are asking for. Morons come out of the city after finding new word on the internet, then think they know something. What color is hay george? How bout horse poo? Whats that smell like? Can I keep my birds in the same pen as my dog? When you can find someone with this much experience to get advice from, let me know. I have not run into anyone over 25 who's even been working a few months much less 40 yrs. Life is hard enough when you're dumb it just makes it harder. Obvious from the reviews - you either love or hate this place. I hate it. I come only when I have to, which is rarely. I get puppy shots and some medications here because they have good prices, but the owner is ALWAYS condescending, as if he's SUPREMELY annoyed that he might have to educate/inform you about his products/supply in any way. It's even worse on the phone than in person. The rest of the staff is surprisingly pleasant. No use in taking it personally, it's just the way he does business. It's a real hit or miss. I've caught George on his good days and he'll joke and teach you a thing or two... but I've recently began to catch him on bad days. I asked to take a peak at some of his orchard hay and he seemed less than thrilled... once his staff showed me a decently green bale I said I'd buy one. The bale I received was brown, dry, and hardly looked healthy. I was not happy. Come back a couple weeks later when it seems the whole county is out of teff or orchard. George's had some orchard, but it was the same quality as before... unfortunately. I bought another bale for lack of a better choice annnnnd now my pony is on day two of hunger strike. She refuses to eat the hay. They only accept cash, keeps prices down I guess. Only $14 a bale. The yard workers seemed nice enough! read more

If I could, I would give this place zero stars. In the spirit of spending money locally, I called this store to see if they carried grain-free dog food and thought I'd buy from them instead of the large chains if they did---hey, we all need to do our part to support small mom and pop businesses, right? Before you spend your money at this store, please read the following: The treatment I received over the phone BY THE OWNER OF THIS STORE was appalling, to say the least. He talked to me as if I was putting him out and didn't have time for the questions I was asking--very simple questions that took a mere 20 seconds. At the end of the phone call I thanked him and he hung up on me without saying a word. After hanging up the phone and not believing what I had just experienced, I called back and gracefully called George out on his unprofessional, not-the-way-to-do-business behavior. I was shocked when he proceeded to tell me that by me asking if his store sold dog food, which then led to me to ask if they sold grain-free dog food, set the stage for his response because he "thought" I was a prank caller. He proceeded to tell me about his history with prank callers---not my problem, but okay, I listened and was empathetic.... Once I caught wind of his prank call history, I explained to him that I had never been to his store before, hence the seemingly silly question of whether he sold dog food or not. I thought that would clear the air and change the attitude. Even after the poor treatment I received, I still considered the possibility that we could move past all of this and still do business as I'm a reasonable person and I know that sometimes first impressions are bad. Well, George, the owner of this store, blew his second chance to make a good impression because he treated me exactly the same way he did during the first phone call. George is more interested in being a bully, being rotten, and being right (in his own mind) than doing good business in the community. If you are against bullies, disrespectful, condescending, and rude people, don't spend your money here. I hope this place goes out of business soon, rather than later, because that's exactly what George is doing for himself---he's losing good business for himself with his bad behavior. Suisun City does not deserve to be associated with a business owner like George. read more
