Took too long to get a drink, bartenders seem high and drunkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.

    Happy hour $15 Veuve Cliquot.

A sleek choice for pre- or post-dinner cocktails and champagne! Came back for a longtime local reunion, and it reminded me why this spot hits all the right notes. Happy Hour pours of Veuve Clicquot at $15 are the ultimate win. The setting adds to the charm--ascending the fountain stairway at sunset feels like part of the experience itself. Inside is dark and moody with a chic lounge vibe, while the outdoor patio glows with dreamy daylight--perfect for switching up the scenery. If not for our dinner reservations, we would've lingered much longer. Whether it's an early date night, a social happy hour, or late-night imbibing, this place checks all the boxes.

George's Keep is a secret well kept! By time you climb all the stairs you'll be extra thirsty for their delicious cocktails. I highly recommend the Northwest Side-- (vodka, cucumber, serrano). It's refreshing and clean with a bite that makes you savor it rather than gulp it down. I also tried the Tequila Honeysuckle on this visit, and it was really divine, but a bit too honey-sweet for my palate. Go on a Sunday or Monday for all day happy hour when these handcrafted bevs are only $7. It's dark and moody inside and they pump out the nostalgic jams.

They have a range of craft cocktails using many different types of alcohol. This is a great spot for happy hour as they have several deals. It's spacious yet intimate inside. The atmosphere is speakeasy vibes with a darker interior. The music has a range. The service is fast and bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable about the cocktails.

Bar area and drinks inside and there is seating outside

Nice place to come for mixology type drinks and traditional drinks. Great service and chill environment. There is also a happy hour!

Ask the Community - George's Keep

How much are the drinks? There's no prices listed anywhere.

I don't remember the exact prices for everything, but they have a very good Happy Hour. Really affordable, especially for the area.

What is the price range of their drinks?

    $5-$25

    Price for drinks on average?

$5 for infusion shots, $6 for draft beer, $10-$13 for most cocktails, $25 for signature margarita and signature cocktail

Do they let in under 21?

    No they do not.

Would someone please help me identify the painting of the red balloon tied to the classroom desk in the south bar? I have emailed management and haven't gotten a response yet. Thank you!!!

I asked and they weren't sure but the owner of the bar (who acquired the painting) might now. One of the bartenders said it might be an artist who takes a photograph and makes a painting out of it

Do they serve appetizers or any type of food?

No food offerings but there are so many good eats around there in walking distance; Piatti, Ruth Chris and Uniko

First for the atmosphere, it's a really nice environment during the day and most weeknights but weekends it's very loud and lively. Which is fine, but it is advertised as a speakeasy, but I would say its more of a loud bar vibe on weekend evenings. For service, it's generally pretty fast! You can order either at the bar or they can come to you. We usually prefer grabbing a seat if we can and order through a server. Definitely reccomend that but you might have to come a bit earlier if it's a weekend evenings. Servers are usually nice and helpful. In terms of the drinks they are great but I'll say you have to be very specific of what you like. I'm pretty straight forward so usually get a Moscow mule, mojito, or their kiwi express! All are awesome! However, I did ask if they could do a porn star martini. Passion fruit, liqueur, not too hard I thought... but they couldn't make it. I asked if they could just make me something w passion fruit instead and was told I could not. Very odd and usually they will make me a drink if I ask for it. Overall I think this is a fun place to go for a weeknight drink w friends or a bigger crowd for a livelier atmosphere for the weekend. I wouldn't deviate from the menu- they have plenty of options. You'll see us again! Thanks rock and rye!

I have been wanting to visit this place for a while since it opened. Because of mother's day it was…read morethe perfect opportunity to go. And it was a great experience! We did not have reservations and went knowing this. The hostess said it was a like 45 minutes to an hour wait. With being mothers day and all, we expected it. However they had a spritzer cart outside for the waiting patrons! Fantastic idea! It was warm but not too terribly hot when we arrived so we opted to brief look at their desserts and then went outside to a couple of tables. We then went to the spritzer cart and ordered a few drinks and it hi perfectly with the sunny weather. And after finishing the drink our table was pretty much ready. It was not even 30 minutes in waiting. Probably 20 minutes. We were sat at two round tables near the bar which was ok, but our daughter has a boot on for her foot but she managed ok. We weren't expecting that but it was ok. They didn't know. We were greeted by our server and promptly got our drink orders and all our food order. What we did was view the menu beforehand. We ordered three appetizers. The meatball ferris wheel, the grilled octopus, and Nonna's garlic bread. The drinks were all delish! The first app that came out was the garlic bread. I have to say is the absolute star of the food here. If you are here, please order it. It's the thing to have. And the butter that comes with it just elevated it to another level. It's that good. Actually better than the entrees in my opinion. The next was the meatball ferris wheel. This showcase the flavors of the entrees for me. It was indeed fun to see. Each meatball was really good and they didn't skimp on the meatballs here. It was very good and the temperature was perfect. The last was the grilled octopus. It was super tender and the sauce was good but we learned they used spicy peppers a lot in their dishes to bring out the flavors. This was the beginning and it was a solid level 1 of 5 of spice level. If you are not into spicy dishes they foreshadows a majority of the entrees here. The grilled octopus was great. And the potatoes go with it perfectly. For our meals, I got the spaghetti and red clam sauce which is spicy. My wife ordered the risotto pescatore, which is a seafood dish, and my daughter got the pork chop my way and she had it Parmesan style. The risotto pescatore came out first and it is supposedly spicy but because none of my family does spicy like me, the sis not as the peppers in the dish. And because of that, the dish tasted kind of bland and only tasted the seafood mixed together. Not bad but was unsatisfying unfortunately. So it's not the fault of the kitchen or chef. It's not made as listed so it will not really taste how it's supposed to m the server and manager pretty much came by and address the issue even though it's no fault of their own. They did offer her a side spaghetti l, which is more than enough at this point, because of all the appetizers we has filled up on. My spaghetti and red clam sauce was actually really good. I could taste the pasta being made in house. The clams with the spicy sauce was great and satisfying. The pork chop. It was just big. I mean hanging over the plate large. Our server and another server said it is big but that was the biggest pork chop they've ever seen come out of the kitchen. It was hilarious. But it tasted so good. Think chicken fried steak but pork chop. And it was delicious as well. Just too much for one person. Especially after all the appetizers! Dessert was the special they had for mother's day weekend. It was a raspberry tiramisu and it was so creamy and smooth. It was one of the better desserts I've had in a while. I also had a cappuccino and they was perfect as well. A great ending to to meal. We haven't eaten that much in a long time. The drinks and appetizers are spectacular. The entrees are good but not the stars of the show for us. But we enjoyed the food journey here!

Valet is complimentary when dining at the restaurant. That is particularly helpful in this cold weather. When we entered the restaurant the dining area was empty. There were a few patrons at the bar but no one at any dining tables. Maybe a sign?? The reviews on Google and Yelp are all over the place. The decor is nice but the seating is a little outdated and worn. I can understand this, though, because I am sure they get a lot of family traffic being a hotel so close to Six Flags. Our waiter, Robert, came right over to take our order. He was friendly and personable. The Restaurant Week menu had two choices for each course, so my friend and I ordered everything so we could try it. First up, the appetizers were poblano and corn soup or heirloom tomato salad with blue cheese. The soup was delicious but was not very hot temperature-wise. The salad is a beautiful idea, but the tomatoes were just bad. They were out of season, mushy, and tasteless. I love tomatoes, so I was disappointed. Next up entrees. My friend had the braised short rib with beans and rice. I had the Redfish with rice and green beans. The short rib was excellent, but it came out at room temperature. Considering we were the only ones there that was a red flag. My fish was seasoned well, and I enjoyed it, but it was room temperature also. Is there a draft in the kitchen? Other reviews mentioned their food was not hot so it seems like a trend. For the amount you pay, the food should be piping hot when it comes to the table. Finally, we got to dessert. I had the creme Brulee cheesecake and my friend had the campfire dark chocolate torte. The desserts were delicious with no complaints at all. This place has a lot of potential, but there are too many restaurants in San Antonio, so you have to make a positive impact on your customers, so they want to return.
