I have to admit I am a sucker for Groupon and I recently purchased 2 Groupons for this place for a facial with glycolic peel - one for me and one for my wife. So I called up Georgetown Electrolysis for an appointment and was directed to a voicemail. I called again and went to voicemail again. Now I generally I like speak on the phone rather than leave a voicemail and wait for a call back. But I left a VM and Sheila called me back first thing in the morning next day. I set a time for me and my wife and I was all set. We got a call on the day of the appointment to remind us of our facial and that we could come in earlier if we wanted to. The new place is much better than their original space in Georgetown and parking is good too. The only issue I had was the sign at the front is not visible from far and a makeover would help. Sheila was very warm and took care of us right away. My facial was good and she explained every step of the process and was quite entertaining with her stories too :) Even my wife (who is fussy on where to go for her facial) liked Sheila's work and we will most definitely be back for more! read more

I have been going to Sheila for my electrolysis since 2016 and I cannot think of going anyplace else for my treatment. Having gone through several laser hair removal sessions and no results I was very nervous trying electrolysis. She patiently listened to my concerns when I first came in for consultation. I have PCOS and have noticed finer hair growth over the course of two years. I have done a few electrolysis session with Mina and she is as good as Sheila. Sheila and her team are great - I started going to Georgetown Rejuvenation for touch-ups on electrolysis when I moved here because I got my eyebrows and chin done in Boston. She does a great job, is very knowledgeable and answers any questions you have - I decided to do laser for my underarms and brazilian area and have had great results. THE BEST place for eyebrows. These ladies are experts when it comes to the art of threading and how hair and skin should be treated. My eyebrows have been plucked, waxed, and threaded before, but never have I had anyone take the time and care to make my eyebrows look better than I could have ever imagined. Anna gave me an amazing facial; she doesn't hold back, and I mean that in the best possible way. She spent a while on extractions, which I sorely needed, and my skin looked so much better after just one that I purchased a package. Had my second one this week and she was equally as awesome! I had a breakout and she took care of that handily, and my skin is grateful. I also purchased a laser hair removal package from them. I wanted a whole body package, but Sheila, the magician who administers the laser treatments, advised I start with my underarms to see how I respond to it before committing to (and paying for) the whole body treatment. I am providing an updated review for Georgetown Rejuvenation based on receiving services for one year and a couple months as of May 2017. I began getting facials along with electrolysis on my chin in March 2016. After a 2-year bout with aggressive PCOS and badly done laser hair removal, I had thick, unsightly hair on my lower chin that reached down onto my neck in some places. Electrolysis is the only hair removal method recognized as permanent by the FDA, so that is what I sought. I started with biweekly 30-minute sessions with Mina, then switched to Sheila due to my work schedule. Almost immediately, I saw a drastic reduction in the hair growth and the size of the hair shaft. After about 2-3 months of biweekly 30 minute sessions, I reduced them to 15 minute sessions. The hair was not gone after 3 months, but growth was dramatically slowed. Fast forward to May 2017 and I have achieved about 85% permanent hair removal. I currently go for a 15 minute session, every 3 weeks. Based on the rate of reduction over the last year, I estimate that I will probably need to keep going until September 2017. That is 18 months of electrolysis for 100% permanence. Electrolysis is a slow process, but it is effective and the results are delightful. It is affordable for me -- $39 on a 15 minute session, plus $5-$10 tip ($44-49 total). It is also painful, but bearable. I recommend starting with short sessions and gauging your pain tolerance before you jump out the window with 45 minute to 1 hour sessions. I get facials every 2-months, with microdermabrasion, by Maryam. The facials come with extractions and a lite massage. My skin has improved tenfold. Hyper-pigmentation is drastically reduced, texture is smooth, pores look tiny and skin is supple & plump. I have built a wonderful relationship with this spa and I highly recommend them. Even after moving to Baltimore, I make the trip down to Alexandria. They are completely worth it. read more

At my first consultation, Sheila took the time to understand what I wanted and explained the process and timeline in detail. I'm not sure how I feel about this place. I met with Mina and she was very nice! But I had to wait 20 minutes for my facial appointment and I was 10 minutes early. I also thought it was weird that I never received a consultation. I was told when I called I would have a 10 minute consultation because I was a new patient. Instead, I was told to get undressed immediately and lay down. I asked her if I could have my consultation and she looked at my skin for 10 seconds and recommended a facial. I asked her to explain the other options but at that time she has already started. I honestly feel like I was being rushed because my appointment started at 5:20 instead of 5:00, and they close at 7:00. I also didn't like that she was pushing the products sold there. It's fine to recommend once or twice, but I specifically asked for budget friendly recommendations I could get at a target or something and she didn't suggest anything. I highly doubt every single product at Target is bad. If I'm on time and they are late I shouldn't have to feel rushed when I paid just as much money as everyone else. :( UPDATE 3/8: I just went here for my eyebrows and I'm definitely going back! Georgetown Rejuvenation and Mitra have been amazing for my skin. I started going to Mitra for facials once a month or so about 3 years ago. At the time I was dealing with breakouts and cystic acne. After a few months my face was much clearer and Mitra helped me keep it that way. With masks, new work stress and not being able to make an appointment due to me not being in the area for long periods of time my acne came back worse than the first time. After resuming my monthly facials with Mitra I saw a noticeable difference after the first facial and my skin has significantly cleared up. Worst Facial Ever. When I got there I waited while my facialist finished a long conversation with another client (not related to her facial). I was then put in a robe in a room with two beds. It was cold in there and I wasn't offered a blanket until I asked. She barely looked at my skin before beginning on my facial and sat down for maybe 5 minutes before she jumped out of her chair to run to: wash her hands in another room; get more paper towels bc they only use disposable there; answer the phone and on and on. Then she wanted to talk, a lot. The whole point of a facial is to be relaxed and calm. Instead she wanted to gossip about my dating life with me. She didn't stop asking until I told her both my parents were dead and then she left me alone. She put on some glycolic acid and collagen on my face and then told me after wards that she wasn't going to charge me for the "extras" If she hadn't done those extras the facial would have lasted 10 minutes. I spent more time waiting for her to come back than her actually touching me. The she asked me if I was relaxed? Not so much....It was hard with all the door slamming. I have been going to Georgetown Electrolysis for about 8 years. I had been going to Chicago to get threaded there, then I found Georgetown Electrolysis on a visit to D.C. I have gone to the Wisconsin location and the new location. The new location is so nice and well decorated. I usually get threaded on my whole face! Yes I have a hairy face. I started with Nesa, who was amazing! Then to Neda who was just as amazing, but that is to be expected...they are twins. I loved them and was sad that they no longer are there. I saw Sheila's sister after the twins left the business, and was was awesome too. I miss her along with the twins. My eyebrows were perfect, so perfect that I wouldn't let anyone else do them. The owner, Sheila, is wonderful. She is so much fun and is so friendly. I have only had a couple of facials and microdermabrasion with her, but they were very good. I would give them 5 stars if my "usual" ladies were there. I don't particularly like the "new" person, Nelu (sp?). She totally screwed up my eyebrows and didn't get all the hair off my face. I felt like I was bothering her and she was rushing because she had gotten behind on her schedule, not my fault, but never the less I suffered the consequences. One eyebrow was too thin and the other was too bushy. I don't have thick eyebrows anyway, so I looked crazier than I usually do. I suspect that if she didn't take so many smoking breaks that she wouldn't get so behind. So I won't be going back to her for threading, unless, the twins or the aunt come back, but will definitely go back for facials and microderm. read more

I was looking for the perfect eyebrow place, and seems to have found it. I have had several negative experiences getting my eyebrows done at other places over the years. At one of the indian threading places, the woman was so clueless i ended up with tiny cuts in the area under my brow - ouch! I have also been to several of the asian-run spas on U-street - but the problem with those is is sometimes either they take too much hair off (I hate pencil thin brows!), or the person is too rough and makes the waxing painful - it's just not been consistent So i needed to find a great new reliable eyebrow place, and i wanted a place that knew threading, since its gentler on the skin around the eyes than waxing - and some yelp research got me to this place. I wanted to get back to a more thicker and natural but still well-shaped brows. At this point, I have been to Neelu several times, and my brows are regaining much more of a thicker natural shape. I have one brow that's slightly thinner and less arched than the other, and she has done a great job of making them look almost even. Like the other reviews say, these Persian ladies know how to open up your eyes and make them pop. And work atmosphere at this place is really wonderful - these ladies are warm, wonderful and make you feel at home instantly. So now I go back every couple of weeks, and plan to continue going to this place. In the future, i might try out some of the other services as well. On a side note, i was using a Talika eyebrow serum to help my eyebrows grow back faster and it seemed to work - so might be something worth checking out as well. read more

Although the salon is above a pizza place in a non-descript building, I felt as if I had walked into a salon in the Napa Valley. Beautifully decorated and very calming atmosphere. Sheila and her daughters warmly greeted me. What a nice touch. While I had always heard about threading eyebrows -- and had seen it done in Egypt -- I had never tried it.
