Our waiter was scatter brained, the wait staff kept trying to clear the table as we were still working on food, had to request refills more than twice, service just wasn't that great. Price point: 3 stars: it's a soul food with fusion food, you are paying for location and to be seen. I didn't think the price point reflected in the portion size, quality, or taste. Drinks are super expensive, PRE GAME BEFORE YOU GO! Food: 2.5 stars: I ordered the whole red snapper fried and by the time I made it back to the hotel I was throwing up, it was that oily. It didn't taste bad, it was just oily from the frying. They need a better draining process, the rice and salad that came with it was good. The complimentary cornbread imo wasn't that great, I'm a southerner and it wasn't "southern good" it was Yankee decent **shrugs** the chicken was aiight but I didn't think it was all that. The peach cobbler dessert was great as well as the jerk chicken salad. Again portion sizes didn't reflect in the price. The Cesar salad was drab and run of the mill, no wow factor. It looked like they opened a Cesar bag kit and put it in a bowl, tasted the same too. The food was decent but it wasn't $120 good. The drinks were super exorbitant to the point I didn't want one. Cleanliness: 4 stars: the women's room could've been tidied up and my menu had dried sauce on it. Had to ask for another water because my glass was dirty. Besides that it was all good. Overall: I appreciate the experience and saying I've been to this historic restaurant. But in all honesty the food is basic and run of the mill, hannibals in south carolina has better soul food imo. I would like to start by saying the staff and service were great even when they were clearly busy. The host was able to get me a seat on a busy Wednesday night when restaurant week was happening and they had live jazz without a reservation and that was greatly appreciated. It was quite lively with lots going on, some may say noisy but it depends on what you like. Once the jazz came on I thought the ambiance was great. However, I was not impressed by the food especially at that price point. The deviled eggs you can make at home. The celery concoction that the eggs lay on left a weird taste in my mouth. The mashed potatoes and fried chicken were very bland and there wasn't salt or pepper on the table to try and make it better. The greens were ok. Finished with the peach cobbler which also wasn't anything to write home about. I didn't order a drink but the cocktails were quite pricey. So the vibe was fantastic, the food delicious, the aesthetic gorgeous. Quite a good deal for $70 considering all the courses. Servers were a bit hit or miss, half of them kind of seemed unhappy and dampened the vibe. Two notes; climate control - it was comfy when we arrived and got warmer and warmer to the point of sweating at the tables once the omelette bar was running at full capacity and the tables were all full... was a bit sweaty and uncomfortable, maybe 5° to 10° too hot. Also, the live music, while immensely talented, was sooooo loud if you were nearby that you can abandon hope of a conversation at the table... I actually checked my app out of curiosity, it was 110dB at some points. That's jackhammer or power saw levels, for comparison. Between the volume and the temperature, one member of our party had to leave. The other two of us powered through another ten minutes then had to get our check. The person who acknowledged me (I chose acknowledged purposely.) wasn't very friendly and was very short with me...I've definitely had a warmer and better greeting at a fast food restaurant. They were loud, shouting over the table loud. Music should be an accompaniment to the brunch. There were times when they played at a nice volume, but it was short lived. We were sitting close, but honestly I'm not sure it would have mattered where we were when they were playing full blast. They served a 7 course menu that sounds impressive until you actually get the food. The food was a mixture of pre-made and made to order. Also some items were more like small plates. I really enjoyed the catfish with greens and macaroni and cheese. The omelet was good, but honestly any chef can make that. The fried green tomatoes were decent, but it seems like they cut 1 tomato in 4s and stacked them in 2s...small portion. The chicken and waffles was also a miniature portion with small chicken bites and 2 pieces of a waffle, but decent. My friend had the salmon and rice dish as well as shrimp and grits. She stated both were just ok. Overall, brunch was nice. However, I don't think it was worth the $70 price tag. $70 included soft drinks. If you wanted unlimited mimosas or Bloody Mary's that was an added $30. There were 2 people in my party and a service charge (tip) was added. Honestly, if the drinks were included in the $70 and they cut out some of the small plate courses it would be well worth the price. It ended up coming to $92 each for my friend and myself. This was my first time going for Sunday brunch. The live music was a nice addition. We had 11 people in our party for a birthday. The waiter did the best he could given how many tables he had, well that was the perception. The "three course meal" is a nice departure from other brunch spots. I ordered the fried green tomatoes, and chicken and waffles. Both were really good. My only issue is the bottomless beverages (Mimosa or Bellini). If all 11 people chose the bottomless the most efficient process is to place at least one carafe at the table. Not only does this save the waiter the hassle of trying to refill everyone's glass but it also ensures that patrons get their money's worth. Additionally, forcing folks to get the same flavor should not be the standard but I obliged so that I wouldn't have to wait longer for him to come back around. Second, great vibes in the spot, good decor, a good diverse crowd which I always love. We went on a Friday at 730p. The service was great. Forgive me for not remembering our lovely server's name. She was lovely! Everyone really liked their food! We got the tomato appetizer, and catfish appetizer, oh and deviled eggs (actually deviled eggs was the only thing that didn't impress me and wouldn't get again). As far as entrees, we got the pasta, salmon, a rice and shrimp dish, Devil Shrimp, steak salad, and gumbo! There were 7 of us btw lol. Everyone really enjoyed their food. Good portions. Yes yes YES!! First time having soul food and it has compelled me to try as many soul dishes as possible. I got the grilled lamb chops and they were to die for. The portion was sized excellently. We got a fix in of Mac and cheese and it was one of the best I've ever hard. It was easy to tell a lot of time and effort was put into our dishes, despite how little time we had to wait. We chose this place to celebrate our 34th Anniversary and enjoyed our experience from beginning. Our reservation was for 1 pm and we were seating. Our server was "Finnea" who greeted us and shared the buffet experience which is traditional for their Sunday service. There was live jazz music and I appreciated the 70-80's tunes w enjoyed while we dined. In honor of our anniversary we were served complimentary champagne and well wishes were extended. Was told by a good friend that visits DC often that Georgia Brown's is a great Happy Hour stop. Me and the homie decided to drop in our first afternoon/evening in town and it didnt disappoint as the HH pricing is pretty good! A nice serving of Catfish Fingers with run you $8 and a basket of fries for $6. Not bad for an evening jump off snack! All washed down with a $9 Kansas City Shuffle (Bourbon, aperol, madagascar vanilla, grapefruit, lemon) and a $9 Down Yonder (Cognac vs, Kronan Sweedish punsch, passion fruit, orange, lemon). The Vieux Carre and Old fashioned is also very good...highly recommend! Happy Hour here is from 4-7pm so a good amount of time. We came aback again the next evening lol! The staff is all cool as hell especially the homie Abel. I ordered the gumbo, which was tasty. Having been to New Orleans, I was expecting it to be be a bit more exciting, but I'll leave it at 'good.' My wife had the pork chop, medium, which came out very-well done, tough and dry. The service was marginal. Our waiter was invisible for most of the evening and we had to wave her down for EVERY step - ordering drinks, the meal, the check, water, and so on. The 22% mandatory "tip" (it's not a tip if it's mandatory - it's a fee) was absolutely undeserved. (The busperson was a delight - charming and friendly.) I brought my mom here for Mother's Day, and it was the best Sunday Jazz Brunch I've been to in my life. Jazz band was outstanding. Service was excellent, checking on you multiple times during each course filling up your cup until it runneth over. One of the server connected with us and sat down to tell us a funny story. We had reservations at opening time but they were not ready for diners. I've been to Georgia Brown's a handful of times over the years and have never been disappointed. This place is elegant without being stuffy. The food is creative while still tasting traditional. Whether it be Sunday Brunch, happy hour or formal dinner the service, quality, and ambiance is consistent. On my most recent visit in January 2023, I got the fried green tomatoes and cornbread sticks with their amazing butter and caviar topped deviled eggs appetizers. All of them were good and perfect size for sharing with 3-4 people. I had the Devil Shrimp dish for an entire and though the plate was food overall, the texture of the Mac and Cheese was a little strange to me. Almost like the noodles had been diced before being baked. The star or of the night was the Banana Pudding. Wow oh wow.. my friend recommended this place and it was the best dinner I have had. First of all the bread service is yummy and the butter (I don't know what they put it in) was equally DELISH. I wish I remembered his name but he was really good; so thank you for that. I was hungry but since my friend and I had a show to catch after dinner I opted for a salad and a side of Mac n cheese. The waiter warned me that the salad would be more than enough but I didn't believe him. Let tell you this.. he was right. It had all the right protein but I think what I loved the most was the jerk chicken. It was perfectly seasoned and not too spicy. The side of Mac n cheese was very good too. I met a friend there and the DC traffic situation (caused by road closures for a foreign dignitary) made me 45 minutes late for my reservation. My friend got our table on time and the management were extremely patient about the delay. I got caught in a rainstorm and arrived soaking wet. My gosh...I have to brag on my experience yesterday. My friend and I came around 3:45pm yesterday (1/13/23) and boy we had a time. I can't remember our bartender/servers name (we sat at the bar) but he was a red head. My friend ordered the specialty cocktails and I got them without alcohol: 10/10, that down yonder was everything. We ordered the sampler which came with fried catfish, fried liver, fried green tomatoes, devil eggs with caviar, and bacon wrapped dates: 10/10, I couldn't believe how delicious everything was. We also got a side of greens and creamed jalapeño corn: 10/10, I would've thought my great grandmother was in the kitchen cooking. The music was perfect, we sang along to our favorite old school R&B jams. Oh, as if we weren't greedy enough, we got more deviled eggs and catfish. As someone who is VERY picky with my deviled eggs, I couldn't believe how delicious they were. Came back for a second visit after experiencing their unforgettable brunch back in 2010. Unfortunately we weren't in town for the weekend, so an early lunch would have to do. Our party of 3 started with the fried green tomatoes. The combination of the tomato with the mayo and goat cheese was the perfect bite of acidic, savory, tart and crunchy. Both the peach and cranberry mimosas were excellent. For main courses we got the buttermilk fried chicken, the devil shrimp and the seafood penne. The waiter was very accommodating for making substitutions of the sides listed in the menu. Everything was delicious- the chicken was moist, mac and cheese was perfect, and there was plenty of seafood in the pasta. We weren't at all disappointed to miss the full brunch. I recently had the opportunity to connect with some friends at Georgia Brown's. When I arrived my party was assembled at the bar and they were raving about how great the bartender was. For our appetizer we had the appetizer sampler which was perfect for all because all but one of us had never been there before. For me, the fried green tomatoes and the catfish fingers were my favorite. For dinner we decided to go family style and get a bunch of dishes to share. We got the Whole Red Snapper, Charleston Perlau, Roasted Chicken, Carolina Gumbo and Shrimp and Grits. For me the Snapper and Shrimp & Grits were my favorites. In fact the Shrimp & Grits were some of the best that I have had. Our waitress Diamond was fantastic and took great care of us. Soooo, I went back to GB for a weekday dinner with my cousin. Can I say, I LOVE LIVE MUSIC!! There was a four piece band that did their thing! We enjoyed our dinner (pics). The cornbread was ok but that's because mine is better! the peach cobbler needs work and wasn't horrible, it just wasn't great. The icecream was better than the cobbler. The peach tea was good but a little overrated. I cleaned my plate as did my cousin!. The pics show what we ate. The potatoes were fried and the style they were cut into was nice. The vibe and ambiance was cool. They have a live Jazz band playing during brunch.. The smoked salmon salad was tasteful. The Cornbread stick was soft and the spread was good. The collard greens were top tier, but I wouldn't recommend the macaroni and cheese. The steak and eggs were ok. Our server Freddy gave GREAT service and kept the mimosas following like the Niagara Falls! The only knock was the fire alarm and emergency flashing light was going off and it was kind of killing the vibe. read more

Hospitable, delicious, great ambiance, delicious food, amazing staff, the list goes on. Had reached out to management to assist with a group dinner and Ms. Kelsie couldn't be sweeter and on top of everything. We ended up having a few more people join very last minute and they were able to work it out for us. The appetizers were so good! Chicken liver and fried zucchini were incredible. BUT the date stuffed with feta cheese and wrapped in bacon had me in love! Then my buttermilk fried chicken came out. Wow! The crispy crunch, the juiciness of the meat, all of it. What an experience. However, the banana pudding snuck up on me and it was love. It wasn't runny or too thick, it was superb. The food could stand on its own, but the staff and their customer service is above and beyond. Everyone was working hard and still so kind to everyone who walked in. It's a whole experience. So glad this was recommended and I can see why they are so busy. Almost forgot about the LIVE MUSIC!
