Ringwood/Wanaque, NJ - love this place! It's so homey. The roadside facade is very unassuming and we've driven by many times without paying too much attention. Well, my husband went in with our toddler one day to get a slice after a hike, and, knowing I would love the old school aesthetics, returned with me the next time. Geppetto's is a pizzeria and Italian restaurant that has retained its old fashioned charm, and is run by a kindly old lady who'll tell you all about the history of the area if you ask. There are vintage decor and old photos displayed on the wall. It's warm, clean and cozy, and has a fireplace. I think the reference to Pinocchio is that Geppetto was the owner's son's nickname when he was little. Family friendly. My child loves coming here (it's literally his favorite restaurant ever and the only one he requests) and really makes himself at home, going right for the kids coloring books and pencils when he enters lol. He loves the pizza here which is very cheesy. Good prices too. It's close by the NJ Botanical Garden, Ringwood State Park & Manor, and Norvin Green State Forest, so if you're visiting those places or are passing through the area, I highly recommend stopping by Geppetto's! read more

Over 30 years of service, that's saying something. Excellent customer service!!! I love the lady that runs the place, she's so warm and friendly. She makes you feel welcomed and not want to leave. The authentic characteristics of this place gives it a cozy feeling. I love the pieces of Americana and coca-cola memorabilia. I tasted this pizza from a friend's party and it stayed on my mind. We ordered the fries and onion ring pizza pie. It was not good at all. Way overkill with the cheese and not enough fries or onion rings it basically a blob of cheese. The cheesecake was frozen and tasted more like cannoli cake it was not so good. read more

This place is a classic. It's small yet fast. One of my friends was craving pepperoni pizza and I too him here. We knew what we wanted. We crushed a large pizza between the two of us. Similar to previous reviews, growing up this place always had a reputation as only having generic and average food.... and I have no idea why. Maybe they changed it up in the last few years? At the recommendation of a friend who said "You really need to try Geppetto's again, it's pretty damn good pizza" I started stopping in, and you know what, it is good! Their pizza and sandwiches totally hit the spot. They also have a coupon box top deal for a free pie. Friendly family owner/operator who will chat with you while you're waiting. While pizza is good here ordered baked ziti tonight and got ziti parm. Dish was obviously not baked thin barely topped cheese layer was white and when I called I was lied to and given an attitude for claiming dish wasn't right and I was unhappy. Don't eat here if you like Italian food. Won't even be ordering pizza again horrible service. read more

This was my first visit to Geppetto's. It was a Friday at 3pm. I ordered a slice of Sicilian and a slice of sausage. I enjoyed my meal while watching/listening to local cable news. I also watched traffic and the tombstones across the street. This place is a little peculiar. When there's no customers, it might be mistakenly assumed that it is shut down. The slices are behind the counter and not displayed. The dining area shares space with what looks like an office waiting room/lounge with some magazines and children's toys. Aside from the decor, this was some of the best pizza I've had. I've had stale pizza on more occasions that I can count and I can tell you that this was fresh. I love pizza. I love Geppetto's. I honestly have no idea what the negative reviewers are talking about. I have tried pizzas at the best in the U.S. (from NY to New Haven) and Europe, and Geppetto's holds their own with them all. They will make your pie to order - thin to thick crust - and their other offerings are excellent. You must try their spicy mussels. Their lasagna rivals that of any sit-down Italian restaurant in Northern NJ. The bread they serve is insanely delicious. Their salads are not the usual bland iceberg lettuce afterthoughts but use fresh tomatoes, kale, red leaf lettuces and real olive oil. Beyond the food, the people at Geppetto's could not be sweeter. read more

This place is so lovely and cozy. And the owner could not be any less nicer to her guests. She never forgets a face. I've been there multiple times, months in between and I've taken multiple friends who agree its the best pizza they've had in years. I highly recommend stopping in here after hiking nearby in Norvin Green or anywhere around Ringwood, NJ. They have a great 5$ deal for two slices and a soda. The pizza is great. The cheese is excellent and the marina sauce tastes amazing. The best part in the crust. Its soft and thick, but still very crunchy. I love it. Ignore the bad reviews on Yelp insulting this nice lady. I'm telling you, she is very friendly. Even towards my friend with a dairy and gluten allergy, she was very helpful in making her a custom dish from scratch. AVOID AT ALL COST, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. We were in the area visiting friends and decided to drop by this place for some pizza. Order a chicken parm sub, slice and buffalo wrap and it was probably the worst tasting food I have ever tasted. Chicken was uncooked and sauce was cold when I had my first bite. Please don't waste your money. Food is tasteless and not fresh. Ordered the fettuccine Alfredo which tasted like something made with boiling water out of the packet. Got salad as a side which was probably a few days old judging by the colour of lettuce. Chocolate cake tastes as if it was left out for a few days as well. Terrible!!!! Came to Ringwood castle and was told by front desk this place delivers & boasted about the food. My husband & I ordered as soon as we checked in. Got our food an hour & 15 mins later. Ordered pasta entrees which were supposed to come why salad & bread. They forgot the bread & the salad was so old we had to throw it out. Chocolate cake was so stale my husband threw it out! $40 later & we are hungry and extremely disappointed! Would never recommend this place to anyone! Stay away! read more

We stopped here for pizza after visiting Ringwood Park. We weren't expecting anything fancy, but we tried regular slices and the pizza was horrible. We ate it only out of obligation and hunger. The decor is depressing and completely out of date. read more

The pizza here tasted like it came from the frozen aisle in stop n shop. $12 a pie.. when we got home I found out they offered 2 for $20.. at the time I was disappointed that they didn't mention it when we ordered. after eating it I am thankful I didn't end up with 2 of these pizzas. will not eat here again. read more

This review is based on take-out only. Geppetto's has, over the years, gained a rep as *not* one of the better pizza places in the Ringwood / Wanaque area. I'm not sure why, but one thing Geppetto's offers, that other area pies don't, is taste! These pies taste great. There are probably five places to get pizza in Ringwood and another two or three in Wanaque. They mostly offer bland, cheesy, typical suburban slices. Geppetto's is nicely sauced, thin crust with a nice sprinkling of cheese. Not 'gloppy' at all. I had only had their pies twice, two years apart, and each time I've been impressed enough to ask where it was from. I now recommend it to friends, often with a 'You're not going to believe this, but you know who has great pizza...?' as I recently told someone, the best thing about this pizza is that there's nothing wrong with it. It won't bowl you over but you'll really enjoy it. Amother plus is their two pies for $20 pick-up deal. This is easily the best regular pie in the immediate area.
