My car and my mom's car were sadly hit by a drunk driver. Dealing with insurance was a headache but finding a shop that would take my car was worse. My mom lives in Gig Harbor and was able to get into Gerber right away. I, on the other hand, spent weeks up here in Seattle calling different shops--from Renton to the east side to Marysville--that said they couldn't receive the car until July. My mom recommended I go to Gerber in Gig Harbor, and it was like a 180. Greg and Austin were WONDERFUL--all the staff were. They coordinated with insurance appropriately, we're responsive, and quick. Gerber, you are lifesavers. I was so stressed out because my rental car period was running out and tow yard fees were accruing. But Gerber took all that stress away. Awful customer service. Had an accident that involved front bumper and tire. It took almost TWO months for them to repair the vehicle. We kept calling and they kept giving us the same excuse "we need to order and wait for another part". This went on and on for almost two months. I finally lost my patience and put my foot down. I have used Gerber Collision and Glass located in Gig Harbor, Washington in the past with good results. Unfortunately, a senior citizen back into my track and his Insurance Company agreed to pay for the repairs at Gerber Collision and Glass. Hartford Insurance issued a two party check, naming Gerber Collision and Glass and myself as payees. But when my plans change I asked Hartford to cancel the check and issue it to me. To my surprise Gerber Collision and Glass cashed the check without my signature. Fraud? They told me it was a mistake? But someone signed my name and they said it would take 2-3 weeks to send me the payment. My advice is to shop around before going to Gerber Collision and Glass. It's obvious their business practices is less than ethical and illegal. read more

Arrived at 3:50p for 4:00p estimation appointment, filled out paperwork and waited. Gentlemen arrives after me and estimator immediately comes out and they leave. At 4:00 I ask receptionist how long and she replies "I'll try to find someone or you'll have to wait until he comes back ". She answers phone call and 10 minutes later I walk out. Bottom line is appointments are advisory, you'll probably wait. Mangers response was they have too many cars and doing the best they can. My car was in the shop from November 15th to December 30th over a minor scuff. I had my car estimated in middle of October & was told to drop it off in November. I figured they scheduled my out in enough time to order whatever parts they needed to fix my vehicle. Little did I know they had me drop off my vehicle even though none of the parts came in or did they have the staffing to work on it. I had to repeatedly call the shop to get any kind of updates & always told " the tech will get back to you ". After talking to the front desk multiples times I was told " there are 70 other vehicles on our lot, you're not our top priority right now.." There is probably 70 cars on the lot because you have customers drop them off way before you're even ready to service them. I asked at least 3 times to come pick up my vehicle until they could do the service because again it was only minor cosmetic damage & was told no. I wouldn't be upset if they would've told me to come back at a later date when they actually were ready to work on my car. Rude customer service - I understand the pandemic has put a lot of strain on business but they could've at least communicated better & been more honest with how long the services take. read more

We had my car towed to this location, and the next day we had an estimate and the insurance process was underway. Austin was friendly, efficient, and he let us know right away that it was a total. My daughter's car was still in the tow yard, and no one was taking cars until months out! I had called Gerber and talked with Greg, and he was helpful, so I told my daughter to call him. They were able to get her car in, and the same result from Austin - efficient, great attitude, customer focused. I really appreciate all the people at this location. This is a trustworthy shop to have your vehicles repaired at! Although it is called Rainier Collision, they have two departments: one half is collision/body work and the other is mechanical/engine work . They literally repair vehicles from every aspect. I have had several of my vehicles repaired here and they always are able to schedule me quickly, fix it quickly and charge a very, very fair price! Amanda helps schedule repairs and provide estimates & Nate is the chief mechanic and is very easy to talk to. He always explains (in understandable detail) the vehicle issues and options before they proceed with the repairs with a pretty good/close "guesstimate" of how much it will cost. And as an added bonus, every time they repaired my vehicles, they give it a thorough car wash after services. So not only do get it repaired vehicle but I got a complimentary car wash & polished vehicle too! I'm always very, very skeptical of auto repair shops and found this one, based on a recommendation from a friend. Sometimes there's a couple days wait but worth the results! Wow. I didn't bring my car into a mechanic expecting to leave so elated, but this place is fantastic. I was quoted for an alignment and wheel balance. Not only did they come in WAY under the original quote (and far lower than Les Schwab quoted me), but​ they also took the time to fix my rear brake light AND wash my car, at no cost. Superb service and a darn good job. I'll be coming back again. It's a difficult spot to find, but if you need service on your car in the Gig Harbor area, I cannot recommend this place highly enough. For reference, what Gig Harbor Automotive charged me just to LOOK at the car was $50 less than Rainier charged to repair it! read more

Anyone want to hear a great joke? Gerber Auto Body Gig Harbor! Don't waste your time! When it was called Rainier Auto Body they were awesome but this retail corporate chain now is a joke! Unfortunately, like the many success stories on here, my family and I were not one of them. You are required to make an appointment to get an estimate. What's the point, Dustin only spent 10 minutes with us and to top it off, you get annoyed with those kind of people who talk over you interrupt what you're saying and don't listen to you? And it seems that all estimators at all Gerber Auto Body stores discuss everything out in the open all of your personal information and business out in the waiting room with everybody to listen.Well that's Dustin.Unfortunately, my family and I are not wealthy we drive an older vehicle that we take pride in, but Dustin decided to rudely point out, "It's an old van you know? " Apparently Gerber Auto Body we were told by the Dustin, prefers not to work on older cars as Dustin put it, "Its too difficult to get the parts", It just takes too much of our time so corporate (Tim O' Day) prefers we don't take those accounts. But Dustin said I'll go ahead and give you an estimate anyway. Well you know where that estimate went? Directly in the trash on the way out. Dustin can learn a lot about bedside manner and customer service at the young age he is. And to top it off he gave us an estimate of around $4000 and the other two body shops we went to that same morning quoted us $1500 in $1800. So what does that say? You got it, he ran the bill up on purpose because he didn't wanna deal with us. No problem though, that's why you shop around there's good body shops out there and there's not. Gerber auto body wants nothing to do with my family or I and we want nothing to do with them! If they would've worked with us and we would've gotten our vehicle fixed and it was a positive experience we would have put a very positive five star rating as well. I was fortunate enough to drive my new car with all of 7k miles into a landscape rock, punching a nice hole through the front bumper and denting it up pretty good. I took the car to 3 auto body shops in Gig Harbor, and chose Rainier. Prices at all 3 were nearly identical. Gig Harbor Auto Body offered a repair for $200 less instead of a replacement, but I got nervous about how that'd look and chose the replacement. I went with Rainier for a few reasons. They've got a very clean shop. Very clean. I was leaving on vacation and they let me store my car there for a week, garaged, and it was completed, washed, and vacuumed when I got back. Very convenient location, too. I just wish they could beat the others' prices. read more

I unfortunately backed my husbands car into a very difficult to see telephone pole in a weird spot with no reflectors. It damaged the very left corner of the bumper on the drivers side and cracked the tail light. I did a lot of research and got two quotes for repair. I ended up taking my car in to Rainier after they matched another quote. They drove me home and picked me up before and after the repair work. They were busy, so I was lucky enough to have Dick, the owner, drive me to and from home. He was so kind! When I went to pick up the car, I was sooooo pleasantly surprised to find it looking more beautiful than it was even before the accident. They did an utterly perfect job! I've had prior horror stories with Chrysler dealerships and a Toyota dealership in So. CA. So I was crossing my fingers that it wouldn't be a bad experience. It turned out to be the very best experience I've ever had getting a car fixed! They repaired the car faster than what was promised, which was only 2 days. I honestly couldn't believe it. Come to find out, they do maintenance repairs as well, not just auto body. I'll be coming back to them in the future. Randy was courteous and fantastic and so was the nice lady at the front desk (I never caught her name). They all went above and beyond. Their Customer Service was a 11 out of 10! Rainier Collision did an amazing job in the repairs on our 2007 Mercedes Benz C230. Someone creamed the driver's side, causing both doors to be replaced, as well as some internal damage. We got the car back two days ago, and were not only happy with the repairs, but impressed with the level of service throughout the process, including regular updates from Mark. Took a week longer than estimated. Sent work back to shop for final buff out. Half my truck was hazy. Meh-so so work

Had our 2021 Honda CR-V bumper repaired here, a few months later the sensor in the bumper fell inside the bumper. We took it to have them fix it and they said it fell In because someone bumped our bumper but they would fix it for free. Well, I was skeptical because on a 2021 a bump shouldn't cause a sensor to fall in. Well, I called to tell them when I would drop it off and they said they wanted me to file an insurance claim and they would no longer fix the sensor. When we had my sons car fixed here a year ago they were so nice and helpful and I'm not sure what happed but they have went to crap. They were not even going to call and tell us, just let us drop it off the night before. I think this repair should have been under the original warranty but it's my word against theirs. Don't take your vehicle here for repair. read more

Do not use them! They did a repair on our front bumper after we hit an animal. This was a 2021 Honda CR-V. They had to replace the bumper. About a month later one of the parking sensors popped out of the hole and back into the bumper. I took it over to them since they made the original repair. They pulled it into their shop to see if they could pop it back in. They mentioned that there were scratches on the bumper and that someone hitting it likely caused the sensor to fall off. I could kind of believe that might happen but it does seem odd that something that only put a couple of small scratches on the bumper would pop that sensor off. According to their tech the bumper would have to come off and they told me to bring it in and they would take care of it for free. I made it a point to ask them what the cost was going to be. They assured me it would be free but if I felt the need to pay something I could. We scheduled an appointment for the following week. We called the night before the appointment to confirm with them that we would be dropping it off that evening for the next day. They then told us they wouldn't be doing it for free and we needed to file a claim with our insurance. They weren't even going to let us know that they weren't going to do it after they said they would. No courtesy call or anything. They were just going to let us drop it off, and then what... I'm not looking for something for nothing. If they needed to charge me for putting the sensor back in then give me a price. Don't renege on your word. In business your word and reputation is all you have. In one fell swoop, they managed to damage both today. It could have been handled so much differently if they really couldn't do it for free as they said but they chose this course. Over a year ago we had work done with them on my sons car after it had been hit. They did an amazing job at that point but shortly after that the two people we were working with closely there left. After that their customer services has gone to crap. I don't know if they changed owners in that time or what but they went from good to bad in a fairly short time. We will never be taking our vehicles back there again. This was the Gig Harbor, WA location BTW. read more

When I arrived the next morning to deal with it, I was treated in a rude, dismissive and condescending manner by the man behind the counter. I am in the business of serving clients and finding solutions so clearly the place it was towed to did not meet my expectations. I called Rainier as I have taken our vehicles there before and Nate Diehl, the Mechanical Manager, was courteous, empathetic and helpful! I took the vehicle to Rainier expecting to have to wait a week or so before they could even look at it, but to my surprise, he slipped it in for a diagnostic, discovered it was an easy fix and called me the next morning to pick it up!! However, my experience was extremely frustrating because it took them 8 weeks to repair my car after promising to have it done in just a couple of weeks. Excuses were plentiful as well as apologies, but I wasn't able to drive those to work. It seems that my car was not a priority to them as there was rarely anyone working on it on those 3 times a week that I visited to check on things.
