RUN!!! the worst ever! I took my car there for a very minimal, barely visible hail damage, worst decision of my life. Was promised my car will be like new! My car is only 2 years old and I begged them to be careful as I was super nervous leaving my new car there. I should have trusted my gut and ran! I'm still dealing with insurance months later. They charged my insurance 8,500k and I got my car back with scratches on the inside and outside of the car, broken taillight, dents, missing pieces, things were not put together right, I mean there was at least 20 things that were wrong. And now I'm dealing with insurance and also a raised deductible going forward since they gouged a nice chunk from insurance. Just unbelievable and I'm not sure how they can treat someone else's property like that. Just a shame and I'm left to clean up the mess with hours on the phone with insurance company who is just as ridiculous. read more

Numerous employers at work had hail damage, due to the May 2024 storm. Several of the employees had their vehicles repaired at this location and the work that was performed was horrible. After they wrote an estimate for my vehicle repairs and then seeing the work that was performed on co-workers vehicle's I decided not to have them make the repairs. In return they would not upload their estimate to State Farm. Which from what I'm being told from State Farm they are not required to do unless they're doing the repairs, but this took Gerber (on Southwest Hwy.) approximately 2 months to do. So now I have to take my vehicle to another shop to have the estimate and repairs made, which is ok but it would have been nice to know this a month and a half ago. So not only do they do bad work they also have horrible customer service. read more

As one reviewer said when you come here it's not a good time because something's going on with your car and no one likes that. Car was stolen and it was such a hassle dealing with the police, insurance, dealership etc...Dana and Jessica who are the frontline of this business set the tone. Dana was very pleasant on the phone and Jessica was so helpful and compassionate. She put up with my 50/11 calls and questions so I really appreciated that. She deserves a raise *wink*. Felt terrible cause I was driving my dads car and it was hit in a parking lot. I took the car to Gerber it was done in the time promised and came out looking like new. In addition they have a life time warranty on the repair for as long as you own the car. read more

I had my windshield fully replaced on 1/25. On 1/27 there was a small crack that developed into spidering. The only instructions I was give. Was to keep tape on and do not go into a car wash. I complied with each of those. When the technician came back on 2/1 I was told that the warranty was not covering the new crack because it was due to something hitting it. I barely drove the car and it was quite a coincidence that I had just gotten it replaced and it cracked 2 days later. They told me I had to go through my insurance again and file another claim and they did not offer and kind of other solution. They denied any kind of accountability for what happened read more

Great customer service at first, dealt with insurance, got maximum dollars for repairs But when getting car back, no idea where that money went. Bumpers did not line up, quarter panel was still creased and not repaired well. A good body shop should know when a car is done and have a good quality inspection. This car we dropped off was for sure a job to maximize insurance money and not do a good repair. Will never take here again. The car also developed an issue with the turn signals. Almost like it was shorting, the car lost a lot of power when headlights were on with the turn signals. Gerber acted like we were crazy when mentioning this and refused to take a look at it. Update 10/1/17 So after contacting Gerber they took car for another day and realigned bumper but acted like the turn signal issue was not their problem. They also kindly asked to take down the bad review posted on yelp. They were also nice enough to cover the rental. After getting car back a second time the bumper was aligned well but still the turn signal issue. I took a look myself and found that THE MAIN GROUND WIRE FOR THE REAR TAILIGHT HARNESS WAS NOT EVEN BOLTED DOWN. IT WAS TAPED OFF. The hole for the ground bolt must have been closed off during repair. I couldn't believe it. After more inspection, I also noticed 1 screw they tried screwing in missed the anchor and drilled a new hole right through the body of the car. I can't believe how this shop repaired this car. Luckily I was able to bolt down the ground wires and get a good enough connection for the car to finally act normal. I'm glad I looked into this because the car gets driven about 100 miles a day and needs to be safe. Be careful bringing here. May be a good shop, but very bad experience for us. read more

Took my car here for repairs after an accident. Started off well with good communication, estimate was done pretty quickly. Slowly things began to fade. Lots of excuses given, not enough staff, parts slow to come in after being ordered. On Dec.. 23rd I was told all parts are in work will begin the next week. Called for an update Jan 6th, the car had not been started yet. I was told inaccurate information. Ultimately my car was there for 2 months. Upon picking it up I noticed there was a large scratch in one of the areas that had been repaired. The manger did work wirh me and solved this issue to my satisfaction, however this should have been noticed before turning the car over. Upon leaving the facility and getting just a few blocks down a censor light comes on. Emailed Christopher, but did not receive a response until i had to call him. Apt was scheduled to bring the car back and a rental provided. A few things were mentioned to look at while the car was there My, but ultimately one of my major concerns was ignored. When asked why it was not looked at, I recieved a vague response. Again, information is only provided when i ask. My car has now been there 8 business days with no communication on what is happening. When I spoke the manager Jared, I received alot of excuses but again nothing that makes sense or even adds up. I asked to speak with the regional manager but was told he only has a cell phone no business line. I would receive an email with his contact information. Still have not received this information. Ultimately what is occurring here is poor management and poor leadership. Employees are not communicating on what needs to get done and the manger who oversees two locations now is not managing the shops effectively. Emplyess were standing/sitting around talking and eating which probably contributes to the lack of work being done. Definitely bring your business elsewhere. read more

Took a vehicle here to get a quote on having a bumper repaired. I took the vehicle here because I had a car fixed at this location about 8 years ago, and I was happy with their work. A crack in the rear bumper was quoted at $1,700. Although I was previously happy with their work, I wasn't happy enough to pay such a ridiculous price for a 2" crack in the bumper. Each and every customer who walked in was immediately greeted by staff who built rapport without skipping a beat. The staff was polite and in addition, considerate of each persons situation. Including a gentlemen who was leaving, a staff member went out after him to ensure he had a lid for his complementary coffee so he didn't spill. I would like to Thank Gerber for their repairs to my 2019 Toyota RAV4 when I got into a 3 car collision. Gerber was great in communication keeping me updated on repairs and date of pick up. The process to pick it up was professional and not long at all. Repairs were explained to me as well as additional things they were able to do like wax my tires and buff out a small stain that was previously there. Let me start by saying I have brought numerous vehicles here over the last 25 years or so, when it was Cars collision and also Gerber . This last time it was my daughter who's car was hit and when she called me in a panic after the accident and asked where should they tow the car of course I said Gerber !! Now they are not a Allstate preferred auto repair shop anymore (I see why now ) but I still choose them in our past experience. A few days after the car was brought there they emailed and called with the estimate time and cost of repairs , at this time we already filed the claim with Allstate as the driver who hit her never reported it to geico her insurance company. Once a week they gave updates about car , which for the first 3 weeks they said about 30 days for repairs , the accident occurred around 10/13/19 and we finally got her car back right before Xmas . There was over 20,000 of damage. Why the car wasn't totaled is beside me. They would add more and more things weekly wrong with the car. Her rental was expired after 30 days so now we had to pay out of pocket and fight with geico to give it back to us. Also Allstate sent 750 check for deductible which when we went to get car we tried to give them and they said we didn't owe anything . Our agent told us to cash the check and geico would be paying that money . When we picked car up it had glass pieces on the floor from window I am supposing . The power from air bags was stained all over the doors , dash and seats . My daughter just wanted her car back so I told her maybe I could wipe it down and clean it when we got home . Now fast forward to late January or first few days of February and she gets a phone call about the 750 and about a balance Allstate has (which isn't our business what Allstate owes) we call Allstate and they say no you don't owe that , we told you to cash that check but we will look into it . Every week Taylor called to tell us we owe 750.00 we would explain that Allstate is looking into it . Then we started getting calls and emails with bold caps written . I finally paid the money and will deal with Allstate it whoever for the refund . When I called to pay this same Taylor was ignorant on the phone from the moment I asked to speak to manager . No return call from manager so I reached out to corporate which the girl was very pleasant and helpful . They want their money so bad but the manager doesn't call me back and I called multiple times and days . When I finally talk to him and pay I also explain the whole situation and tell him the condition the car was in when we got it back and that the stain from the powder is still there he offered me to bring it to them and they will get it detailed . He also said he didn't go over the file of the repairs until after I called so he didn't realize the interior was that way . OMG this place is unbelievable there SO SO NICE AND TRULLY CONCERNED about taking care of you, Until there done and rush you out the door I brought my car in they did a check for any scrapes hail damage or existing dings stuff like that my car had NOTHING! when I came to pick up my 2014 Ford Mustang the rear bumper looked good at first but I noticed a New ding on the drivers door, when I asked what happened they said " wasn't that there from before?" I told him when the girl looked over the car there was Nothing noted for prevues damage unlike the other car that had orange circles all over there car from previous dings and scratches, they looked at the inspection sheet and then apologized 5 times and they said we will fix this and have your car back the next day. I came in the next day with my dad and he looked over my car and told them this was the worst paint job he ever seen! Rear bumper had paint drips and air pockets which will pop after a few car washes then look bad and the door was a cheap bound I fix the door is No Longer smooth the factory seal coat paint is now ruined and looks like garbage. There response "DONT WORRY YOU HAVE A 1 year warranty!" My father couldn't believe his ears then told them all what he thought of this place and how they tried tricking there customer, we went over to the Orland Park police department and filed a police report for the new damage they did to my car and for the bad work they did he put it in the report but said that's a civil matter STAY AWAY FROM THE GERBER ON SOUTHWEST HIGHWAY!!! read more

I had my windshield replaced at this location. Within two weeks I had an issue with the weather stripping around the glass falling off. I tried contacting their toll free number. I was on hold the first time for 45 minutes and the second time for 2 hours and no one picked up the phone. I would not recommend ever using Gerber glass to replace your windshield. Despite their commercials indicating that they do quality work that was not my experience. read more

Stay far away from this place, I can't believe they are even allowed to operate under the Gerber name. Took my car in for body scratches and a broken power door lock. A seven day job that turned into 12 days plus. Picked my car up, paid deductible, and then was told they didn't fix my door because they forgot! Yet it was on the estimate to be billed. Rescheduled to come back again to get this repaired. Then on way home had water pouring down from the interior roof of my car! The entire inside roof of the car was soaked!? Manager had no explanation for this. To top it off, my husband then pointed out that they didn't even repair the front wheel flare that was badly scratched, and was also included in the estimate. Must have forgotten this too.. Manager unapologetic- offered to have me drop car off again and get another rental, like I want them touching my car again? Who runs a business like this? My experience took place in May 2015. I hit my right bumper on a cement post. I needed a new bumper. At that first visit, my car was inspected for other damage & scratches & I signed a waiver after I was shown some minimal scratches. No problem. When I picked up my 'fixed' car with the new bumper, I drove 2 blocks away. Something was very wrong. There was a strange noise/rattle & my car was literally not driveable. I returned to Gerber C & G on SW Hwy immediately. When I returned, the mechanic KNEW what was wrong. He said he was only able to connect the bumper on the right side, & NOT ON THE LEFT, b/c my car was damaged underneath on the left. That would have been something I would need to know! They checked my car for other damage initially, they even called me again to say they could proceed with the new bumper b/c there was no other damage on my car. Then they let me drive out of there with only one side of the bumper connected! The mechanic then hooked the left side of the bumper to the car with some plastic wraps. They told me that would hold it. If I wanted the left side fixed properly, I would have to buy a new piece under the car b/c that was broken. It would cost $100. Well, I did purchase the other piece b/c I did not want my new bumper hooked on with plastic wraps! What I don't understand is that with 2 inspections, they did not see that problem (maybe it didn't exist or maybe they never looked under the car) & then they actually did not connect the bumper at all on the left side & let me pay & go out the door in that undriveable car, without mentioning any of that to me. Hi i really dont review alot but this was well needed i brought in my lexus is 250 that i bought a week ago in july and a week later i got hit the doors on the driver side needed replacement the fender the side airbags and more when i brought it in, in july the estimated time was about 3 weeks to fix that didnt happen their was more work to be done then i got a diffrent date that didnt happen either now coming to last week which is already september i went to take a look at the car and it was trashed it was all covered in dust and dirt i brought it in clean it was horrible then i noticed a scratch where they missed they said they dont know where that came from so they had to repaint the area because they told me they would just touch it up on a new car ? that would look hideous...so my car due datewas this week sept 10 that didnt happen either then they stoped telling me when it will be done all together, i called them then i finally got im touch with them and they said friday and today is saturday night nd i still havent recieved a call through this whole process they did not once call me to send me updates on my car i asked them numerous times to send me updated pictures because i was in california and they failed to do so ! its still unknown when i will get my car and how itll be fixed take this review as it is i thought gerber collision and glass would be better than this or maybe its just this location i have pictures of how bad my car looked while it was being worked on and i wouldnt want anyone elses car to be treated like this ! heres a link to pictures http://s46.photobucket.com/user/martisdabra/library/Mobile%20Uploads read more

My husband had an accident March 27th this year. In one accident there were 3 separate accidents with my husband being the first vehicle in the last part of the accident. Needless to say after getting nothing but the run around from the vehicle that struck my husband first our vehicle was finally ready to be fixed almost 2 WHOLE months later!! From my initial phone call to Gerber to my last phone call I was treated with nothing but the best customer service from the employees here!! From speaking with Mario my first call and him assuring me that they would take care of everything. When I arrived I was greeted by Mandy and she was the one who would call me with bi-weekly updates which she told me she would do. After going thru the horrific part of the accident and then dealing with the insurance company, Gerber took a HUGE weight off of my shoulders. She told me not to worry about anything and to leave it all up to them!! And that was such a huge relief!!! I must say it was a shame to have to meet the crew at Gerber under the circumstances that we did but if we ever have another car that needs to be repaired it will definitely be with Gerber!!!!!!! read more
