Back in 2020 I had gotten a chip/crack in my windshield, I went to this location to get it repaired. I was told all my repairs had a lifetime warranty and to call back if there were any problems. Fast forward to 2025, the chip they repaired is cracking again. I called up Gerber and was told that since the windshield repair was contracted out to a third party, the windshield is not covered by the Gerber lifetime warranty. No one told me that the windshield repair would be contracted out to a different company back when I had the work done. Now I have to foot the bill to cover this second repair of the original crack? The estimate was written by Vince Abbott was done on the 20th of this month! so a week ago today and after I call and tell them personally the insurance is gonna send email they need back And he said no problem. Today calling insurance I find out nothing was done and they never got the email I was assured they will get! They will "lock in the estimate now" I was told and had a sick feeling. So I drove to the shop the host didn't want to be bothered and "knew nothing" she goes in back waits like 4 mins for the guys around the corner to stop talking and ask the guy a question came back and said he is the new estimate. After seeing stuff added and taken off and hundreds of dollars less then what I was given. She again " don't know" I leave call corporate in elmhurst And wanted them to know too that this place is a scam and a fraud. reducing prices , adding stuff to the insurance estimate that was not on my estimate. I'm really disappointed from their service . do yourself a favor take your business somewhere else to people who appreciate your business and they will do what they promised you with . This shop is unorganized and neglectful. After three separate requestss to check my brake system which they totally disregarded after they made "notes" in the system. I spoke with Emily, Nayeli, and Mark. It seems like these employees do not communicate the needs of their customers. In addition they were going to release my vehicle with a brake system that had not been serviced and unsafe to drive. They didn't include my brake system in the original estimate so then State Farm declined my coverage. I had to go back and forth and explain the negligence of this shop to my adjustor before my brake system repair was approved. After 6 weeks in the shop I finally received a call to pick up my vehicle as it was "ready" for the second time and then found that none of my power locks worked and didn't respond to the key fob! Mind you all of these functions were working in proper order when I dropped off my vehicle. They had no idea how to fix this and said it was the key fob battery. I put that theory to rest and bought a new key fob battery and guess what! Not the key fob!! If you don't know how to work on luxury foreign vehicles then you should not service them! So nowwww I have to bring it back after the holiday for an electrician to take a look at my car. Oh and my locks still don't work. UNACCEPTABLE! The only reason I gave this review three stars is because of the beautiful bodywork, their customer service and knowledge around foreign vehicle repair needs some work. read more

After this ridiculous Chicago winter, I brought in my Infiniti two separate times for work. First for major damage after a snow plow destroyed my quarter panel, then for paint repair after rock chips had their way with my hood. The repairs to the quarter panel were done very well. The damage was really bad (the actual metal plow portion of a huge village snow plow hit the car at about 15 MPH). The hood paint repair was excellent. The hood looks like it had no damage whatsoever. They even touched up a small area on the hood that had nothing to do with the damage. Most importantly, management here really works hard to make sure that customers are happy with the work done on their cars. I was very impressed with my experience with this place. They're knowledgeable, hard working and honest. These guys took care of me and made sure I left happy (which I surely did). I'm impressed with the care this Gerber exhibits towards it's clientele. Hopefully my cars won't need major body work in the future, but if they do, I'm not going anywhere else other than this Gerber! I usually don't leave 5 stars for a place, but this place honestly deserves it. read more

Can I make that a zero? Our car was brought to Gerber Collision and Glass who sent it next door to Car Craft for repairs after an accident. Gerber should be more cautious with who they work with because Car Craft failed to find a serious issue with an axle after replacing a rim and doing a four wheel alignment. We knew something wasn't right with the car when we picked it up. After bringing the car back for another look, they told us that we need brake work and that it wasn't related to the accident and that was the only thing wrong with it. We took the auto to our own mechanic who determined that the brake job wasn't an immediate need but the axle was bent. How could they miss this? How could they let us drive away in a car in this condition? read more

My car was in an accident resulting in a cracked front bumper. I decided to go to Gerber because they were close to my house and mentioned by my auto insurance company. If I stick with the accident repairs... the repairs look good! During the estimate, Gerber informed me the bumper would be a reconditioned bumper and that I would not be able to tell. This was true! On another note.... When I agreed to the estimate, I asked if Gerber could order a rim cap (since my original fell off). The manager stated he would order it and the rim cap would be installed during the scheduled repairs for the bumper. When I dropped off my vehicle for repairs, when questioned, the manager confirmed the rim cap was in and they would install it. Repairs were completed within a timely manner (3 days to be exact). The evening I picked up my vehicle, I asked that my car be brought into the garage so I could inspect the repairs in the light. The replaced bumper looked good! However, I noticed the rim cap was not installed. When I asked the same employee that confirmed the rim cap arrived and would be installed, he looked as if this was the first time hearing about my request. The employee went to check the shop and when he returned I was told the rim cap did not arrive but would call the dealer when they open... As another employee backed my vehicle out the garage, I noticed the fog light (located in the bumper, on the side of the previous crack) was no longer working... the fog light was working properly when I dropped off my vehicle. I stoped the employee from backing my car out the garage and notified him of the fog light. Again, I told the "manager/first employee" and he seemed confused. When I informed him the light was working fine when I dropped off my vehicle, he quickly gave the excuse of the bulb possibly going out. I noted that I've had a the car for 8 years, it's possible, but what a coincidence that the bulb went out during this 3 day time frame when repairs were being done on the bumper that housed the fog light. The manager proceeded to say "it's possible the light was not plugged in". Either way, a thorough pre-and post check should have been performed by Gerber allowing them to catch this mishap. The manager pulled my vehicle into the garage, again, and changed the light bulb. Once my vehicle was ready, I was asked to enter the garage. I asked the employee to turn on each light and turn signal to ensure all lights were working as they were when I dropped my vehicle off. After we completed the light check, the employee opened the overhead door and I was asked to pull my car out of the garage. Remind you, this employee already pulled my car out of the garage once, so I am sure he knew how to back up a full sized SUV. Needless to say, I will not return to Gerber for the rim cap or any other future service (crossing my fingers another driver does not hit me). I purchased the rim cap from the dealer for a lower price. I plan to also ask the dealer to inspect the bumper to make sure Gerber did not perform a "band-aid" job. read more

I am not really sure where to start with this so how about at the beginning? My car, a 2010 Subaru Impreza WRX STI, was severely damaged on the front passanger corner. The original estimate from Gerber was around eleven thousand dollars. The estimate from the other parties expert was for just over eighteen thousand dollars. I tried to argue that Gerber was wrong but hey, I'm just some guy. The repairs began a few days later. I stopped by to retrieve a few things from the car. It had been disassembled to a point and many parts had been placed directly onto the roof of the car. I had to point out all the scratches in the paint at a later date and wait while they were begrudgingly buffed out by a less than happy employee. The repairs continued for many months, granted subaru can take a very long time to ship parts. I do not recall getting a single phone call from Gerber during the first three weeks of repairs. Not three days, months. The only time I got information was because I stopped by or called. Just so you know it took Gerber over a year to get my car into reliable driving condition. I was told many times that my car was done but when i would go to pick up my car i would have to point out defects or things the completely missed. After just over eighteen thousand in repairs I drove the car to Louisiana on vacation. Everything was fine till i started driving back and encountered a thunderstorm at that point as I was driving the passenger footwell began filling with water. Eighteen thousand in repairs and it leaks? Not acceptable. Upon returning I dropped the car off at its home away from home and told them of the problem. A week went by and when I called, again no information from Gerber. They could not find a leak, they had to send the car to Subaru. The leak was a result of a missing grommet in the firewall. The representative from Gerber told me "someone must have kicked it out". Really? I had to crawl up side down to see this grommet, no way you can reach it with your foot and my passengers dont generally flail their feet around in a violent fashion. Electrical problems persisted for months with the car finally having to go back to Subaru to get repaired properly. The welds that were done by Gerber started to rust through the paint after about a year so back it went again. I was told the welds would be ground down and redone. This time the repairs took a very short period of time, two days if i recall. My first drive after the repairs was rather startling. The sealant or whatever it was that Gerber applied to the welds, which are very close to the exhaust, began smoking to the point I pulled over because I thought the car was on fire. I have video. Fast forward a few months and the welds are tusting again. Repeat most of what you just read add in the Gerber representative telling me "I don't know why they are rusting". Another smoke show from more sealant slapped on andI have given up on Gerber. After three years of constant on going repairs, headaches and general dissatisfaction with Gerber I sold the car. If you remember from the beginning of this the original Gerber estimate that was performed with the car in their shop where they could get a good look at the car was around eleven thousand dollars and the other estimate performed while the car was still on the tow truck was for eighteen thousand. The final total was lets call it twenty-two thousand dollars. Some overage is expected and acceptable. Doubling your estimate is not. No stars for you Gerber and to anyone still reading take your car somewhere else, you will be much happier. Thanks for reading and best of luck. read more

Great Job to Jesse and the crew. They received my car from the Matteson location, due to them being overbooked. I had 2 big bullet holes in my car (no one got hurt) and some damage under my hood. This location did a great job on the repair and saved me some money off my deductible because they weren't able to get a new door panel. So, they repaired it and all is well. I was in a minor accident and needed to bring my Volkswagen Beetle in for some repairs. I could not be any happier with how well the staff treated me and my car. They returned my car back to me vacuumed and washed. The man who worked on my car even set my clock back to the correct time (since it is a foreign car, I never could figure it out and had been driving with the wrong time!)
