DO NOT go to their location at 2821 Capital Boulevard in Raleigh. After an initial estimate for car body repair, they told me to come back for the work to start in two weeks. After the car had been at their location for over 2 weeks, I was informed that the repair work had not even started. The manager on duty was not helpful, with a "Tough luck" attitude, and blaming "supply line issues". I contacted their national help desk and was assured that their North Carolina- based management team would contact the location, and I received a phone message later that day from the local duty manager that " since (they) could not meet my needs" I should take the car to another business. Not only did they not do the work in a timely manner as was expected by me and my insurance provider, they refused to make good and complete the work. read more

I have no idea what kind of work Gerber does, because I just went in to get an estimate. I had made an appointment online, and when I showed up for my appointment the front office manager acted as though it was a huge hassle. I had already filled out the online estimate form, and assumed that my appointment was to drop my car off to be repaired. The initial estimate was $1,300. It turns out, after you complete the online estimate form you have to make an appointment for an in-person estimate! I waited for awhile, as the office manager said he was slammed. Then we went out to my car, and he looked at the rear panel. He told me he didn't know if it could be fixed, because there was white chalk indicating that it had already been fixed before. I told the estimator that the white marks were actually paint from where my car had been hit. He doubled back, and agreed that the door had not been repaired before. Then he raised my estimate to $1500. I would have still used the shop by this point, but he seemed really unsure as to whether or not this was an accurate cost. So then he had one of the mechanics go out to look at my car. The final estimate came to $1700. I feel badly writing a negative review, but I want to help other consumers like myself. I feel like this shop needs to provide more accurate estimates. Also, it might make sense to have 2 people working the front office. Shockingly bad customer service. Firstly, the automated option to make an appointment does not work. I entered all my info and then got a call that the date was not available and was given a date over a week later. I showed up for my 1000 appointment at 0955. The lady at the desk was matter of fact and told me that Darryl would be "back soon." There was on one other person in the waiting room with the same appointment time. The lady behind the desk completely disappeared. A couple of employees came and went through the waiting area. At 1025, the other customer found someone and asked what the delay was, with no great explanation. I left at 1030 and went somewhere else. 6 days later, I get a call from the customer service manager saying that I had asked to reschedule my appointment! I don't think so. read more

Great service, great communication, great people! A few months ago my vehicle was hit by a falling tree branch. Gerber accepted the job and when they were finished with the repair and paint, the damn thing looked brand new! Only thing is that it took almost a month and a half to get my vehicle back. Took my car to Gerber Collision Bragg Blvd in Fayetteville for bumper repair and painting. When they replaced the bumper, they didn't properly install it. The car's fan was damaged; the fan got stuck in its casing. So I had to pay more money for an actual mechanic to replace the old fan. I've reached out to Kevin, Regional Mgr. But he had not returned my call to resolve this matter. Gerber Collision should pay me for the replacement and installation of the fan. read more

If I could rate in the negative I would but no option. Brought my vehicle in for repair due to an accident by one of my children. Front end damage that required the bumper, hood headlight assembly and fender on the passenger side to be repaired. Since my son was at fault my insurance only covers for replacement parts that are used. My adjuster was there when the car was being disassembled and the estimate went from $3500 all the way up to $7500 due to the parts she could not see at the first estimate. I assume the high estimate was for new parts of used parts could not be located. Well I was notified 6/22/16 at 4:49pm via text my vehicle was finished and ready for pickup. My wife called them to let them know we would not be able to pick up till 6/23/16 in the afternoon which was no problem. Well I received a call on 6/23/16 at 8:05 saying my car would be ready for pick up after 10am that day. What happened from 4:49 pm to 8:05 am for the pick up time to change? When we got there we had to wait for someone to pull the car around. There was no reason to wait it was he manager and someone else discussing status of vehicles in the shop. I guess customers are second. Now on to the meat and potatoes, the inspection of the car. First thing I did was pop the hood and noticed I had to search for the latch because it appears the wrong latch was installed or missing part of the latch to reach it. Then there was a white powder which I am assuming is some kind of wax or possibly they wet sanded the vehicle and never cleaned up their mess. It was all over the edges of the hood, the fenders and under the headlights. Well the problems only snowball from there. I looked at the driver side fender and notice a run in the paint. Not a small run but about an inch long run. So I move to the front bumper, it looked like drops of water on the bumper went to wipe off and it's bubbles of paint! I look down to the lower grill and notice that was broken and it was included on the estimate to replace. Not sure if they used the old one or broke the new to me one on installation? Then I look to the passenger side wheel well and notice that the plastics in there aren't properly installed and partially hanging down. I also noticed the body lines were off and gapped in areas. Where the fender meets the windshield area that was pushed in which was like that on both sides which means they were not properly aligned. I asked Terry if this car was inspected before we were called and he said yes it went through quality control. Unfortunately Terry was not able to answer my questions as to the discrepancy on the pick up time, how this passed quality control or is there truly any quality control here since this is below amateur work on my vehicle. The manager Andrew came out and never introduced himself to my wife or I and I start asking the questions all over again. Either he is shy or embarrassed by the poor quality of work because he would not make eye contact and only look at the vehicle. I asked if he had an answer to any of my questions because Terry was no help and he said no. Andrew said he would talk with his techs and get them working on this right away. My wife called our adjuster as well to let them know of the poor quality of work done here. It was an upsetting situation to deal with an at fault accident by my child and we were excited to welcome our car home (text recover by Gerber when notified the vehicle is complete) to only find a below average amateur job done on it. I guess we should have gone with our insurance companies preferred shops but no instead we went with a friends referral that has sent several cars to them over the years. So now I am incurring more of an expense of a rental, time lost going there for nothing and the headache of all of this. If I had to do it all over with again I would not use them and would ask for more recommendations. I have emailed Gerber corporate to notify them of the subpar low quality workmanship and waiting to hear when they will try to deliver our vehicle to us again. Review update 6/29/16 First off when someone from the bodyshop says any further issues please contact them, one would think you would include a number! They have not tried to contact me I refused delivery of the vehicle because of their sloppy work. I was contacted by Terry on 6/28/16 saying my car was ready and we can go over it with a fine tooth comb. Well I went 6/29/16 to attempt to pick up the vehicle and low and behold there is new issues caused by the repairs they did. I now have dents in the fenders or what appears to be dents which may be the paint job. The wheel well plastics was not corrected, the fender aligning with the windshield supports was not repaired, damage to the plastic chrome trim, and paints runs in several spots. So DO NOT EVER USE THIS CHOP SHOP! The excuses given this round was my insurance didn't pay for that, it meets spec-asked to see the specs none were provided. read more

Someone back into my car and scratched my fender, driver door, and mirror. I've been to Gerber before and I guess they're OK. USAA recommended this shop so I figured it would work fine for me. With that said my vehicle was towed to the shop on a Monday and it took 4 days for an estimate and 12 days for repair. The one request I had for the shop was that they save the puddle light in the mirror for me (aftermarket light). Time went by and I received an email saying they were planning to finish later that day. Later that day I got an email saying they need one more day. The next day I was never contacted. I reached out the following day and was told they're getting it cleaned up and checked out. I come to pick it up and the rep asks for my deductible, but I want to see the car first. I take a look and notice some paint has dried up thick and has made an unappealing texture. They buff it out (15min). I then ask for the puddle light (I could see the look on his face). They didn't have it, the one thing I wanted them to save. The rep made up some story that it was damaged during disassembly (were they using fucking hammers to take off a mirror?). 1 star for the time it took and lack of communication 1 star for the puddle light (rip) read more

So, this didn't start or end well. In gathering estimates for an admittedly small job, the following happened. - I stopped in for an estimate, and was told I needed to make an appointment. This was the only shop to do this, out of several that I visited that day, but ok, I made an appointment. - I show up for my appointment, and then need to wait 20 minutes before their rep is available. - after about 1 minute, their rep needs to go get another rep. I wait almost 5 more minutes. - the second rep comes out, looks for a minute, then goes to 'punch in the numbers'. - the estimate is given, and it's in some cases, twice what others have quoted. I am sure that there will be many 'considerations' posted over this, and the estimate, however, this is a flat panel two stage spray, base coat/clear coat, and all estimates were made on the exact same repair. Don't force appointments then make people wait. especially for 10 minutes of interaction. read more

Frank explained the process, expectation for communicating progress, and towards the end kept me updated on a daily basis. While driving on the highway, we had no choice but to hit/ run over a large piece of debris that was on the road. The unknown metal object did damage to several areas of the front bumper. So much that our bumper became an eye sore and left us eager to fix it. Gerber Collision came recommended to us by our trusted car dealership. STAY AWAY - NOT TRUST WORTHY. I was recommended by State Farm Insurance company to take my vehicle to Gerber for a small repair that was estimated at $450 by an appraiser. The ended up to be about $1,600. The collision was very simple. When I took the vehicle to Gerber, 24 hours later Gerber explained that there was a small crack in both of the front headlights that needs to be replaced. When I spoke to the employee, he explained that the parts would take a few days. The next day, I was told that the car would be ready the next day. #1 There was something fishy with the story. #2 - when I asked to see the cracked headlight for proof because there was no way a small fender bender could cause such significant damage to the headlights, he had explained that he threw the headlights away in the garbage and the garbage provider picked it up the previous night. I expressed my disappointment to the car advisor but he was not helpful. I would not recommend this company & I am very disappointed that State Farm would use such a company. Overall the work was fine but I was ripped off. read more

I took my car for an estimate, Lindsay who was the young lady who looked at my car took pictures and discussed the damages . Lindsay stood and talked about the damages and repairs. Lindsay advised me that she had a meeting at 1 o'clock and then they will complete the estimate and forward it over to my insurance company. Lindsay contacted my insurance company adjuster and gave her personal thoughts about the damage done to my car sharing that some of the damages in the back was a prior accident. My insurance company reviewed the information search for a prior accident share it with me. Lindsay told my insurance this via in writing and verbally. There was no records to show any prior accident. I told my insurance company that all damages done to the back of my car was due to an accident that happened 9192021. After talking with my adjuster she called Gerber speaking to Lindsay who stated she did not write on the estimate that prior damages were on my bumper/undercarriage (right driver side). The insurance adjuster confronted her stating this is the information that was provided by you and your company. Lindsay became very nasty towards my insurance adjuster and continue to state that she did not lieutenant that information someone else at Gerber did. Needless to say my insurance company apologized for Gerber incorrect reporting information. I will not be going back there for repairs and don't recommend anyone else to go there . Who knows what they are doing to your car when repairing and what they are telling your insurance company. Or even the company that is fixing your car. I was weary about going there after seeing the prior reviews . The reviews has shown itself to be correct. I am a fair honest person and try to treat everyone like I want to be treated. Having someone lying on you is a hard pill to swallow. I don't recommend this Gerber Collision on Ice Road Raleigh NC to anyone. They provided an estimate in just a few minutes, and stayed within that estimate with respect to both time and money. I was recently rear ended on 40 and needed to get my bumper inspected and replaced. My insurance company offered a list of establishments they directly worked with, and I'm so glad I chose Gerber. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, and kept me in the loop throughout the entirety of the repair. When I picked up my car, I was shocked at how great it looked-- it looked brand new! They went the extra mile and removed the splattered paint I had (unfortunately) driven through from the side of my car, and did a wonderful job replacing and painting the bumper. All in all, I highly recommend Gerber, and would suggest giving them a call next time you need an auto repair! read more

I'd prefer to give zero stars. They folks are terrible! They were completely unorganized every step of the way. I had to bring the car back to have the work corrected. No one reviewed any of the work before they gave me the car. The body work was ok but definitely not top notch. as there are still small dents visible. The paint looked fine for the most part, but they screwed up the electrical system and then wouldn't fix it because they couldn't figure it out. Everything on my car worked perfectly until they worked on it and now I've had to pay someone to fix the electrical issues they created by incorrectly putting in a simple speaker. They didn't use OEM parts as well. This was a horrible experience and I obviously would never recommend these guys to anyone. read more

After running over a strip of tire that was lying in the middle of a busy Interstate, I could see that my front bumper and grill were damaged and would probably need to be replaced. My former insurance company used to send me to Gerber for repairs, so they were the first place I went to for an estimate. I took my car to the location at 8813 Ice Drive in Raleigh, NC. They quoted me a whopping $1,782 to replace not only the bumper and grill but also a radiator support and the AC condenser! The car had been running fine, and there did not seem to be anything wrong with the air conditioning when I tried it. Shocked by the extent of damages they claimed, not to mention the outrageous price tag, I then took my car to two other highly reputable, top-rated auto shops in Raleigh. BOTH places told me that there was nothing wrong with my radiator support or AC condenser and that all I really needed was a front bumper and grill. In their opinions, Gerber was clearly trying to rip me off. So I have booked my repairs at a place that quoted me over $1,000 LESS than Gerber, and from now on, I will warn people never to go to any Gerber location! I am disgusted, not only because I believe they were trying to take advantage of me but also because I have to wonder how many times in past years they have inflated the repairs and padded the bill so they could get more money from my insurance company (which, of course, drives up MY premiums). My situation included a side panel repair that was caused by a oil change service station, who will go unnamed but aptly agreed to cover the cost of the repair. First things first, the staff at this location acted unprofessionally and as if they were not interested in providing me with the best service possible. In particular this included Loretta, at the front desk, and Frank, the service agent. Communication about the timing of my repair and the added cost, after the estimate, were not conveyed in a professional manner, and actually, not conveyed at all until I called to check on the status of my vehicle and then showed up only to find out there was more of a balance due. Secondly, the service agent asked me not to fill out a survey because it would reflect poorly on him. Lastly, despite expressing my dismay, no one cared enough to follow up with me about my concerns.
