I was referred to Gerber Collision in Tempe (Priest & University) by my insurance company. When I arrived, the estimator came out, took a quick look at my car, and was extremely rude. He told me repairs would take at least two weeks -- though by my estimate, it should take no more than four or five days. When I asked if they could pre-order the parts to save time, he flat-out refused. His plan was to take my car in on a Friday, wait until Monday to order parts, wait another three days for them to arrive, and then finally start the work. My car would have sat there for an entire week untouched. He didn't seem to care about the customer's time or inconvenience -- it honestly felt like he was just trying to stack as many vehicles as possible to meet his monthly billing. Every time I asked about pre-ordering, he insisted it wasn't possible and claimed parts only take one day to arrive. He was abrupt, pushy, and rude. When I asked about a few white marks on my bumper -- just out of curiosity about what it might cost to fix -- he snapped back that it would be a "minimum of $1,700." (Keep reading to find out what it actually was.) At that point, I called my insurance company and told them I would not take my car to Gerber. The estimator was arrogant, dismissive, and clearly didn't care if customers were inconvenienced or strung along. Once they have your keys, you're basically stuck -- and I could tell they'd just let my car sit for days. My insurance company then referred me to CarStar in Mesa, and the difference was night and day. CarStar pre-ordered the parts, created the estimate, confirmed everything was ready before my appointment, and scheduled me for a Monday. I've received text updates throughout the week, and my car will be done by Friday. They even helped set up a rental car -- all with a great attitude and genuine professionalism. I also asked about the same white marks on my bumper. Their estimator simply grabbed some paint remover and wiped them off -- it turned out to be paint transfer, not damage. It took 30 seconds and cost me nothing, not $1,700. Bottom line: I would not recommend Gerber in Tempe. But I highly recommend CarStar in Mesa -- they know how to treat customers right, get the work done efficiently, and communicate every step of the way. read more

GO ANYWHERE ELSE! I had to take my car back more than 4 times for re work after my car had more, and different issues, than when I dropped it off. Paint splattered in the interior of my car, windshield wipers did not work, drivers side window was not functional, cracked interior door frames... and unfortunately those were just a few to list. Also keep in mind, these were not issues related to the initial vehicle damage- GERBER was responsible for these problems! Now I made appointments to fix the problems and thought everything was fixed but I was wrong... What makes things worse is when I did make and confirm an appointment to correct some of the issues, the front desk guy said no one was in today to fix it. This is again after I made and confirmed an appointment. While the communication during my repairs was great.i didn't think the after math would be such a negative, lengthy and tumultuously disappointing experience as it was. As someone who works in the insurance industry for almost 10 years, I was amazed and shocked to experience the level of "low quality work" that I had from Gerber. UPDATE: Regional Manager of Gerber collision called me to try and persuade me to take down my review. This company is the absolute worst company for repairs. I am just now getting more information as to why they could not fix my vehicle but could not be communicated at the time of the repairs. Who is to say this company has not done this to others and took their review down? SHADY COMPANY DO NOT COME TO GERBER IF YOU VALUE YOUR TIME AND CAR!! I was in a collision that hit the driver side door as well as driver side wheel. Gerber got me in pretty quickly for the estimate however I had to wait 2 weeks for the repairs. Once I had a tow truck was provided to take my vehicle to the shop they estimated 10 days. The day the vehicle was supposed to be ready in the 10 day time frame I got an automated text saying it was pushed another week. A few days before the second date I got another automated notification that my vehicle would not be ready again. There was no communication from the shop stating what was left to be done. My vehicle needed a new door which was promised to be in and painted by the date of my appointment so I wouldn't be without a vehicle for long. After calling and texting about my vehicle I was able to pick it up about a MONTH after they had taken my vehicle. My vehicle needed a new side fender, driver door, side mirror, alignment as well as engine issues from the collision. Gerber refused to fix the engine issues, they took a month to replace a door and side fender and refused to correctly adjust the alignment. I returned my vehicle as they did not replace the side mirror. I returned my vehicle 3 times after the original date my vehicle was marked ready. Lexy, the estimator, said the are going above and beyond to assist me and shouldn't have taken my vehicle back several times to get it right. In the end, I removed my vehicle from their care and had to spend $1400 out of pocket to fix a job they should have done in the first place. NEVER GO HERE!! read more

This place was recommended to me through my insurance company, Esurance, and I could not be happier with the result. Overall my experience was very excellent, I would give this place a 10/10. I was directed here for my estimate and was easily able to get an appointment. I was late to my first appointment and was able to reschedule for later in the morning and it was no issue at all. When I went in for my estimate they told me that I could drop off my car with them that day and they would start working on it. This meant that I had no vehicle to drive home with, but the manager, Daniel, graciously gave me a ride back to my home. I was given text updates about the work on my car and I was also able to see the updates through the insurance app. This was awesome because it meant that I knew that my car was being worked on and that they cared about my vehicle coming back into my hands sooner rather than later. I had a brief hiccup with the insurance company being able to send the check directly to the shop, but regardless of that issue the shop was able to release the vehicle to me anyway. I was able to get it two days after dropping it off and the manager once again picked me up from my home and gave me a ride to pick up my vehicle. Furthermore, Daniel suggested that I have an internal issue with my car and I should get that checked out which was very nice for him to let me know. As an added bonus, they washed my car! So very impressed with Gerber Collision & Glass's Tempe location!!! My car was backed into by a neighbor in my apt. complex. My insurance company gave me several names of companies to take it to, and I chose Gerber because of its location (close to my apt.). After an estimate well over $4,000, I took the car in on the agreed upon date. Enterprise picked me up (impressed with them too), and I was on my way. Brian (my estimator) kept me updated throughout the repair process. I was promised my car ten days from the date I dropped it off, and it was done before that time. Picked it up, left the Enterprise car and went on my way--piece of cake! The whole process was quick, professional and didn't take up much of my time. Fast forward to a few weeks later (Thanksgiving day)--my cousin and husband were visiting. My cousin (who was in the passenger front seat) couldn't get the door closed when she got out of the car. We tried and tried and it wouldn't close. Her husband (being the "guy" that he is) decided to "fix" it and looked at the driver's door to see if he could tell what was different. Well, he did something that jammed that door so that it was locked open and the door couldn't even be closed because of the lock. Needless to say, I wasn't happy. I put the car in the garage that night and the next morning I called Gerber because I thought maybe the passenger door not closing had something to do with the accident and it needed an adjustment. I made several calls and talked to all three receptionists (calls to make an appointment, change the appointment, etc.): Angelica, Kaylee and Priscilla. They were all professional and courteous as I explained my plight and blamed my cousin's husband (who was, of course, on my S--- list). They got me right in that morning (day after Thanksgiving now). Bill, the general manager was the person who helped me out and fixed my car. He said the passenger door still had the child proof (something) on. All he did was turn a screw and the car door shut! Then he walked over to the driver's side and jammed something into the door lock on the door panel and it popped the lock and, again, the door closed. That's it! End of story. No charge and I was on my way. Did I mention my cousin's husband taught auto mechanics and thinks he knows it all when it comes to cars--he's so very wrong. Thank you all at Gerber!!! read more

This review needs to be posted. Original review here. "I would not recommend this place to anyone. My girlfriends Jeep was taken in there after her accident. Her front axle tube on the Dana 30 was actually broken. Once the axle was replaced they gave her the run around about the alignment and could not get it to track straight. We took it back for the alignment to be done...not to mention they did not blend the paint to match the rest of the vehicle until we complained about it and they took it back to repaint the other surrounding areas so the hood would not stand out as new paint at the same time we took it back to look at the alignment again. My girlfriend mentioned that the Jeep was swaying and not tracking straight. They said they "fixed it" and gave it back once the the paint was done. The Jeep still pulled to the left and she was just so frustrated that she didn't want to go back to them and do it. We haven't driven the Jeep much lately and when I was driving it last week on the freeway I noticed the Jeep was swaying back and forth a little bit. It felt like like it was tracking left and right. The steering wheel had just a little slop left to right with the sway. Then yesterday while driving home from work the entire Jeep was swaying back and forth. We had to come to a complete stop. I checked under the front end believing something came loose and noticed that the rear track bar bracket on the axle side was hanging to the ground. The bracket broke off. There was no way this bracket just decided to let loose for no reason. There is no doubt in my mind that this bracket was already on its way out after the accident. There are three sides of the bracket that are welded to the axle. The left side was completely torn off clean. The right was bent out an inch, and the bottom part of the bracket itself was a straight rip. This tells me that the axle was already shifted over to the passenger side after the accident happened and broke the weld on the left, bent the right and started to rip the bottom part off. So this whole time the swaying feeling was the axle trying to center itself under the Jeep since the rear track bar was about to rip off the axle. How did they not catch this? Did then even look over the entire Jeep, or just the front end? You don't have to understand Jeeps, 4x4 vehicles, how trackbars work, or anything else here other than the fact that this bracket breaking at high speeds could have killed us. My question to them would be whether they gave the whole Jeep a solid look over. Just because the accident is in the front doesn't mean you neglect the rear. Or does it? The Jeep drove perfect before the accident, never tracked to the left, and never swayed at high speeds. I stand by my review that the bracket was over looked and this could have cost us our lives. Imagine, just imagine if this bracket broke off on the highway at 75 instead of the streets at 45? The best part is that the guy(s) working on the Jeep made her feel comfortable about their skills and working with Jeeps as they were Jeep guys and liked off-roading. Again you don't need to know Jeeps to know how to do your job and give a vehicle a full shake down before you sign off on the repairs being completed. I find it interesting that no one has even contacted us to ask questions since this review has been posted on Google and their website." read more

I got into an accident a couple before Thanksgiving. Was rear ended by some teenager on the freeway. Her insurance was responsible for taking care of all of the damages. I won't go into too much detail about what company it was or what specifically happened, but the whole process was dreadful. Absolutely could not get into a rental for at least a week while they verified paperwork and couldn't get ahold of anyone managing my vehicle at the tow yard. It was rough due to the fact that I work at a business that is 24/7 and I worked every day after the accident with no holiday. Transportation was really difficult. I go into this detail to explain how bitter I was about the whole situation. Now, my father had been in an accident previously and had his vehicle taken to Gerber collision. Since this was my first accident, the only place I thought to take it was Gerber. It took about 3 weeks to repair the vehicle (which was actually very fast for how much damage was done and trying to get parts around the holidays). Almost every day there was a constant update from Mo or Daniel as well as constant text notifications. I always knew what was going on with my vehicle. I have a 2014 Ford Fusion hybrid and I try to keep my vehicle in pretty good shape. Unfortunately, before the accident I had a dent on my passenger door and paint peeling from vandalizing teenagers on my rear quarter panel. Obviously since these were not related to the accident, the insurance company was not going to take care of any of it. I really wanted to have it done but it was going to cost me $300 to have repaired out of pocket! I don't know about you, but this time of year that is $300 too much! I got a call the next day and Gerber said they would cover it. They wanted me to leave with an amazing experience. It was not only the door and quarter panel; the insurance company tried to use all aftermarket parts for the repair. Which would have been fine with me, but because every last fitment wasn't perfect Gerber was able to negotiate some OEM parts. When I got into this accident, all I could think about was how this is going on my CarFax and the value of my car is going to depreciate tremendously. Because of Mo & Daniel (and the technicians) at Gerber collision, I can put those worries to bed. I picked up my car in better condition than before it was even in the accident. I recently had my first experience with Gerber Collision. Needless to say, I will be recommending it to anyone who needs car repair. From the moment I walked into the shop, the staff were warm, welcoming, and more accommodating than I could ever imagine. Enterprise had a busy day and was running late to pick me up so one of the staff went out of his way to take me there! They updated me often regarding my car and knew immediately how long it would take to fix. When I went to pick my car up, my battery was dead. This was a long time coming and I honestly couldn't have been in a better place. One of the workers (I can't remember his name) had a battery on the way as soon as opened my hood! They replaced it in less than 45 minutes and I was on my way to the rest of my busy day. THIS MADE MY WEEK! Car troubles are always inconvenient but Gerber made the whole process a million times easier and may I say it - enjoyable. The team at this location is amazing! I brought my car into the shop for them to take a look at (a car had hit me and ran off) and provide an estimate. There was minimal damage to the vehicle and it was not worth going through the insurance. I asked the dreaded question, "How much is this going to cost me?" The gentleman responded, "Free." Pretty certain my jaw dropped to the floor because he went on to say I've been a customer for years and it's an easy fix. It was late in the day so they had me return the following day for the repairs. Typically, car repairs take a while so I came prepared with my work laptop. I had only answered 3 emails before they came back and said, "Your car is ready." Again, I was in shock. Not only did they provide me with a free service, they did it in 10 minutes. Getting a free service is great, but the top notch customer service is what makes this location so wonderful. They truly care and want to provide the best solution. The car was done when he said it would be. Before the car went in he went over the work that would need to be done. After the work was done he went over with me everything that was done. When they were fixing the car they noticed something that needed to be fixed that was not listed the first time so they had it fixed. It was something that was small and to have someone notice it and take care of it really means a lot. I only bought this car about 5 months ago so it's still my baby and they really took care of it. One of the windows tint got scratched in the process and they also fixed it. The tint was just done so I found my paper work thinking they would want to see that it was newly done and not even that. Choose this body shop due to it being a "preferred" shop by my insurance company and the location from where my accident took place. At the beginning of this experience the people here were very delighful and helpful. Soon after things began to change. My car was taken there at the nd of the day on 6/17/15. I was told that it would be ready by Tuesday of the next week 6/23/15. I called on Monday 6/22 to confirm my car would be ready and was told that it would not be due to the car needing to be repainted. This was a delay that they knew about but they failed to contact me about. On that day I was told it would be ready by Thursday 6/25/15 at the lastest. I call back Thursday morning to confirm I can pick up my car that afternoon and was again told there was another delay in painting and they needed more time. Asked to speak to their manager and eventually spoke to John Streeter who was apologetic and pleasent. He informed me that I he would now need until the following Tuesday 6/30/15 at the latest to have my vehicle ready. Needless to say, that time again was not met. Now it was going to be Wednesday 7/1/15 because it needed an aligment. I call today 7/1/2015 and now there is a problem with my strut which is causing another delay. I am now being told it should be ready on 7/2/15 but by now I have little faith I will get my car back anytime soon. To make all of this even worse is that they know of all these delays and never once tried to contact me to let me know that their time frames would not be met. I had to call back every time myself and even asked for call backs with noone returning my calls. I hope this place eventually gets my car back to me. It is really dishearting when a place like this just keeps delaying and cannot meet their own time frames. If you need to have any body work done on your vehicle, avoid this place like the plauge.
