Great little market I like to get my local honey and craft beer from. They literally have a HUGE walk in beer section full of micro and macro brews from all over the states! My mom and I drive out of our way from Yucaipa every Saturday just to come to Gerrards. We enjoy the store and it's selections that much. This was *almost* a 5 star rating, except for my one and only real complaint, which is that sometimes the specialty items I want are sold out (mostly breads). All things considered, not a big deal. Overall, the staff is incredibly friendly. I believe I've encountered the same unenthused deli person someone else mentioned, however, that's just one person, so whatever. I love that Gerrards offers a lot of gourmet foods, both imported and local made by independent brands. They have a vast selection of cheeses, Boar's Head meat and cheese at the deli, yummy looking pastries (that I have yet to try), fresh and beautiful produce, lots of delicious breads and a huge liquor section and beer cave. I'm not a beer drinker, but as someone who recently got curious about trying hard ciders, I can really appreciate that they have a build your own six pack. What has happened to Gerrard's??? They used to have the best produce! My husband and I stoppped by on Sunday to pick up some lettuce and tomatoes. ALL of lettuce had turned brown and was wilted - there wasn't a single decent head of lettuce in the store, so we decided to leave and go to Albertson's. On our way out we noticed that the tangelos and strawberries were also over ripe and rotting on the shelves. I have gotten bad avocados there before but I have never seen the produce section in such a deplorable condition. read more

We bought a pumpkin pie the day before thanksgiving only to find that it had mold on it once we got home. Total bummer.

Gerrard's has a wonderful selection of hard to find items and their store is always clean with pleasant staff. However, this week I ordered a specialty birthday cake for my teenage son. The manager called me the day prior to delivery and asked some clarifying questions regarding color combinations for the decorator. The design was merely, "Happy Birthday _ _ _ _" in one color with a different color piping around the edge - very simple. When I arrived to pick up the cake, it was wrong. They placed a large flower on the top of the cake in a color not even on the original palette. I don't need artistic license, just a simple cake. The manager literally scooped the flower from the top of the cake and offered me a discount. Needless to say, I was upset. The manager admitted that my son's cake was the third cake constructed improperly that day. We will not return. read more

They sold me expired food, again. First time it was a box of brie 2 weeks past it's expiration date. Now it's organic milk, two days past its expiration date, all sour. I should be reading labels, but I think, I will just stop going to a store that keeps rotten food on its shelves. read more

Gerrard's has one of the best wine selections I have ever seen. They also have wine tasting at various locations around redlands and Loma Linda (call for a schedule). I am very impressed with their cheese selection too. This eclectic market is a jewel in the rough. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves to cook with off beat ingredients. If they do not have it they will order it for you...How awesome is that!!!! read more

There have been customer service improvements to the hot foods/deli/bakery departments, but I do have to give a great big shout out to the Saturdays when they have the tri-tip and ribs for sale outside! My only wish is that I wish they sold lunch plates instead of whole slab of ribs or tri-tip sometimes. Half a rack of ribs and 2 sides or something like that. read more

Throwing a birthday party for my husband, inviting co-workers, friends, and family sounds fun in theory. And by hiring catering staff from Gerrard's Market, I was able to have the best time I've ever had at one of my parties! Barbara and her daughter Evelyn were amazing. They arrived on time, dressed professionally, shooed me out of the kitchen when I would start to refill something. I realized, finally, that they had everything under control, without being obtrusive. I was able to sit and chat with my guests and relax! My kitchen was sparkling clean when they left, all of the dishes were washed, I love them! My mother always stays to help clean up, she saw that it was done and she left for home with a "clear conscience!!" Several of my guests asked for the caterer's information, wanting to hire them for up-coming parties. I don't ever want to throw a party without them again. They were wonderful. Of course there's much to like about Gerrard's, including the personal friendly service and we like the idea of supporting a local business, especially a quality market like Redland's very own Gerrard's. read more

I will never forget the goodness, kindness and honesty of April or the lifesaving service of home delivery offered by Gerard's. April not only delivered my groceries, but went out of her way to stop at another store to buy me some anti-vertigo medicine when the rest of my family had to leave suddenly due to a death of a family member. I stayed behind to care for my 22 month old granddaughter and as a visitor to Redlands, did not know a soul here. I honestly don't know what I would have done without her help today. I do love this place, and have noticed how hard they've been working to improve the market overall...so I have to give an updated rating of 5 stars. The temp issues with the freezer seems to be much better, new products they bring in are great (artisan cheeses, sausages, organic meat and preservative-free cold cuts in the deli!!) and it seems the stock is better monitored. Also, they've started smoking salmon, which is absolutely fantastic. read more

Catering is great (and reasonable). Enjoy shopping in the store with fresh and local items. If I lived closer, I would shop here more often.

Sentimental visit back to the dear ol' UofR isn't complete without a stop at Gerrards, especially now that I'm not on a student budget. Their gourmet food and adult beverage selections are amazing! Super disappointed in my trip to the deli though. I think the counter help rolled out of bed and scrambled into work cuz her shirt was filthy, we had to call her over three times to even help us, she never made eye contact or smiled when taking our order, got everything wrong, then once it was corrected practically threw our food at us. The case doors were broken and I could have sworn she was cussing under her breath. Excited when I got some inside scoop from one of the ladies about gluten free options they are now carrying in the store! Not a practical place for weekly shopping but worth the trip for impressing guests. read more

nice place but could be better. Redlands has convenient places like this that cater to the neighborhood. Could be better.

I love Gerrard's. They have a new bulk aisle which is great and it is the only place around where I can get my favorite apples from New York (Macintosh and Macoun, so delicious)! The only downside is that it is a bit pricey compared to other local places. read more

my wife and I came in earlier today for a sandwich and we will never I mean NEVERRR coming back again! here's some advice for the short Mexican gal don't tell people that you're vegetarian when you're NOT! since it was our first time getting a sandwich we asked her what meat would she recommend and she straight out said she doesn't know she's vegetarian and doesn't eat meat -_- LOL I forgot her name but when she was making our sandwiches she went over to slice our meat she had no clue we were watching her she sliced three slices and had a little piece of sliced meat and stuffed it in her mouth and afterwards touched our sandwich!!! seriously!!!! disgusting!!!! I'm getting chills just writing this :( we were so disgusted that we threw the sandwich in the trash and went to Jack in the Box instead!!! and there was also flies flying everywhere!!! read more

After work today @ 6:00 p.m., dead tired and I just wanted a salad for dinner. I stopped at Gerrards Market in Redlands for some lettuce and maybe an avocado in my salad. The avocados look great in Gerrards and the sign said "Manager Special.99 per lb". It was a very good price so I picked 5 avocados. When it came to the register, the cashier told me that it was .99/ea. She didn't believe me when I told her the sign was .99/lb. So she decided to check herself. When she returned, she told me the sign was mispriced and it should be .99/ea as it listed in the weekly ad. Of course, today is Wednesday and I sent my whole day in my office. She also told me that the sign was removed after she discovered the misprint. She called the manager, and the manager told me that he could not sale it for .99/lb. So I decided that no avocado for dinner tonight. Should the store honor the mispriceing, big print, which is hanging right by the product? I didn't argue with the clerk nor the manager, but very disappointed. It's the difference of $4.95 and $3.00. read more

Never been before, until yesterday, and wish I had looked at reviews before going. Perhaps then I wouldn't have been so disappointed. Seriously lacks customer service/professionalism. Cashier didn't even greet me until ringing everything up and then told me the price, but at least did say "have a good night" at the end. I didn't spend any time looking at their products in the aisles, and from the other reviews, it sounds like that may be their strength (international foods, alcohol selection). I only went to visit their produce section, deli bar, and food bar. Produce was overpriced. Nearby food bar included hot food selection and salad bar you could serve yourself. That said, it was *seriously* lacking. No prices listed, no labels on what was what, some of the hot stuff (like spaghetti) looked like it hadn't been stirred in hours, and at least a dozen FLIES all around food and landing here and there! Ewww! I got some soup, which was thankfully covered. Also, I saw an employee at various times (twice, not sure if same guy though) scooping stuff into a sample cup and then walking around shoving it in his mouth. Guess we need to be grateful he wasn't eating from the serving spoon! Deli counter didn't have flies, but, again, NO LABELS, NO PRICES...so annoying! Had to ask what things were/how much. Their excuse was that the morning girls forgot to put them out. So what??! Take some initiative and YOU put them out! Lol! Also weird, you can get some of the same stuff there that's on other side of store at food bar, but it's a few dollars more per pound. I guess that's the price you pay if you don't want a side of FLIES with it! Overall, a lowbrow place trying to pass as a highbrow one...needs new manager(s) and/or owner(s)! Go to Albertsons or Trader Joe's instead, which are about 2 - 5 minutes away, in either direction. read more
