I really enjoy coming to this gem. The selection of ready to eat food is great. The selection of beer, wine and cider is great. The selection of meats and cheeses is great. The staff is friendly. However, both times I have visited, I was overcharged. Once, I was charged full price for two salads when the sign said "buy one, get one free." The second time, I was charge full price, not the sale price for prepackaged pineapple. I will come here again but I will have to pay more attention when I'm checking out. This is a pretty awesome grocery store. If you're into getting better quality ingredients, this is the place to go. the selection of ready meats and cheeses is the best that I've seen in Redlands, better even than Trader Joe's in my opinion. The alcohol selection is always very expansive, so whether you need something for cooking or drinking, you'll find something you'll like. I also found that they have some random items that are usually only found in Europe or Australia (ie. vegemite). Yes, it is much more expensive than a usual grocery store, but if you come in here, you're most likely coming for quality or something not found at other stores. read more

If you like beer and are near the IE, look no further. I don't think you are going to be able to find a better selection of microbrews and import beers. There's simply to much to remotely list much less remember from the selection on hand. If they don't have your favorite beer, they will try to get it in. Nice neighborhood location with nice parking. I live a few blocks away and Gerrard's is my go-to place when I want specialty ingredients, something pre made that tastes home made or fabulous deserts for company. This is the closest I have come to the Italian delis back home in New Jersey for the past 15 years since I'm in California. Gerrard's is a great place! We love the wine selection. Never again will you ever have to wait for BevMo's 5 cent wine sale to come around, when Gerrard's has the 1 cent sale all year! I love the little cheese samples they have too. We've found so many good cheese there because of those. Also a great selection of bottled sodas that you can get by the bottle. The prepared food counter is where it's at, though. The macaroni and cheese they make there is amazing. I dream about that stuff. Great sandwiches with Boars Head brand meat, REALLY good burritos, and even a good place to pick up a home-style meal to-go...warm and everything. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the prices for the regular groceries are a little on the high side. I'm sure it's because it's tough for a smaller grocery store like Gerrard's to compete with major chains like Stater Bros, but for us, Gerrard's is more of a place where we get some of our specialty items (and prepared foods), rather than the full on grocery trip. Excellent neighborhood grocer. They have all the staples plus some gourmet items and spices. Butcher is fabulous - high quality. But the star of the show is the "Beer Cave". I will drive 1/2 hour out of my way when in the Inland Empire in order to browse their beer selections. read more

I love Gerrards. They have unique items not found at Stater Brothers, or Trader Joes. Their Deli is really great, with lots of antibiotic/grass fed meats. The store is a little antiquated and small, however, they have many unique things not found elsewhere. This is the greatest market ever! There deli section has a variety of yummy pre-made food. They are smaller then a normal market but they have thongs the big guys don't. A huge variety of sodas, chocolates, cheeses, and many other specialty ingredients. To top it off there service is great. If there is ever more then 2 people in a line, they call in more checkers. It doesn't get much better for a neighborhood store. I hate large impersonal grocery stores. Therefore, this is just perfect. I am a temporary resident of Redlands and I am thankful that I discovered the store. As mentioned by others, the prices of common items such as milk and bananas are competitive with the larger chains. The specialty items obviously are expensive- but they always are, as everywhere. I have no problems with the service- I am prepared to wait, if the service personnel are busy attending to another customer. I expect that when my turn comes- I shall be served with the same attention. I have had no rude behavior from any servers. The personnel at the deli may not be relentlessly cheerful, but they are efficient. My best buy- The crab cakes at the fish counter. They are really very tasty, besides being quite affordable. read more

I've been a regular customer for years. There's a big sign over the pies ; Buy One Get One Free ( Apple Only). I bring two apple pies to checkout and the cashier says she can't honor that sale anymore. Sign is still up. Told her to keep them. We visited Gerrards Market for the first time today and loved the store. Great service and friendly. Tom Reingrover introduced himself and made a point of letting us know if we wanted anything to let him know. We picked out our six pack sampler of craft beers, got a $10 slab of pork ribs, some fresh banana nut bread and a few other items. The on-the-vine tomatoes were not only beautiful, but at .99 cents a pound decently priced. We'll definitely be back. read more

I grew up in this store, and even though it's under new management (as of a few years ago) I'd have to say that it has only improved. In addition to the staples, they also have shifted focus to quality, near-gourmet foods. Fresh-squeezed Redlands orange juice, delicious house-made guacamole (you HAVE to try this), an impressive wine selection and a *huge* array of cheeses are just a few of the reasons I love this store. read more

Gerrards is within walking distance of our home. We go there all the time! Wonderful gourmet market. A little pricey but they have some nice perks. One of the best gourmet cheese selections you will find within 25 miles! Lovely deli and catering section. Huge booze department!!! The cashiers are very sweet and helpful too! Get a custom made breakfast burrito and share it with a friend at the tables out front while enjoying some old fashioned soda from their awesome soda section! Love this place! I love Gerrard's! I have been shopping here since I was a kid! Recently I bought my own house near Gerrard's and have been shopping there so much more! They have a ton of gluten free, vegan, and over all healthier options which I love. The have a section of the store where you can weigh out and scoop up certain items yourself like oatmeal, chocolate almonds, granola, nuts, seeds, and more. I love it! They recently upgraded their beer cave and now have an even greater bottled beer selection. They also like to support local and sell Chili Bills BBQ sauce!! It makes me happy Gerrard's is still going strong and hope it continues!! read more

A gem in the IE, solid grocery store with an upscale feel. Love that they have slighlty more gourmet ingredients than the norm and a solid selection. The footprint is big enough as is the wine selection. I like that they have a whole corner reserved for more international food. read more

I just discovered this place and I will never, ever go back to Stater Bros! I love that it's so little, but it boggles my mind that they have everything I need and then some! I guess that's what comes of not having such huge volumes of one product on a shelf. I needed pizza dough one day (and was too lazy to make it) and I know SB doesn't carry it, so I thought I'd try this place. Turns out all they have is the stuff in the can, but it felt like a movie where the hero goes to chase a ball that rolled into some hidden cave and discovers a treasure trove hidden for millenia. Ok, a bit over dramatic, but I love it here. The grocer helped me pick out eggplant and the cute old butcher recommended a certain kind of sausage. The checkers are the kind where you get to know them and they ask what you're making for dinner. They have a superb selection of meat and cheese and lots of specialty items that you couldn't get in the "ethnic" aisle at SB. Also, they have a little grinder where you can get freshly ground peanut butter (ingredients: peanuts). The prices aren't WalMart low, but they're competitive, and a lot of the specialty things are cheaper than at a regular grocery store (stock up on red beans and rice!). I feel ridiculous getting so excited about a grocery store, but it's just that amazing. read more

So I'm a fan of supporting local businesses, i really want to be able to shop here for my weekly groceries but Faaak, it's expensive. They do have plenty of stuff you can't find anywhere else. Any market that carries Boars's Head and Beecher's products under the same roof is a win in my book!

They have a great selection of gluten free for me and great meat choices for the hubby! I love the atmosphere at this store. It feels very hometown. I will always come here for some of my fave hard to find gluten free items. It's the only place that I know of the carries the gluten free ravioli and my fave pesto sauce. read more

We are visiting from Las Vegas and wanted fresh local food--- exactly what we found here at Gerard's! We ended up coming back - 79cent Pomelos that were local and the best ever! I went to the meat counter at Stater Bros and asked if they could order prime beef, I wanted bone in rib eye steaks for Fathers day. I will sometimes take a chance with Costco prime beef, it is hit or miss with them sometimes it is good or it can be very bad, but with them i figure you get what you pay for although their prime beef is getting pretty pricey also. I could not find the bone in, the butchers are taking the bones for ribs it is barbecue time or they are cutting these ridicules cowboys steaks/tomahawk chunk of meat. I talked to the meat manager at Stater Bro.who said he could order prime beef it would be $25 a lb and he took my name and phone number said he would call me in the morning to let me know about my order. He did not call, so when I got off work I called the store and was told that he had gone for the day but I could talk to his apprentice. When she got on the phone I asked about my order she said she saw my request but that is was not filled, so I asked again when would they fill it she was not sure, and I would have to wait another day to even place the order. I would only have a few days to prep this meat. I told her never mind I would go elsewhere. So I went to Gerrards Market in Redlands, now I have been very hesitant to go back to Gerard's for prime beef but I thought I would give it another try. They were very helpful took my order for 4 2" bone in rib eye steaks which I could pick up tomorrow. So I did $20 a lb. So $160 dollars later I was so looking forward to our great fathers day steak dinner steaks cooked perfectly med rare only to find when I looked across the table at my father who could barely chew this meat it was so tough and was getting stuck in everyone's teeth how disappointed I was once again with what Gerard's considers prime beef. So fool me twice but never again. I wish I had my Whole Foods market back from when I lived in Los Angeles there is nothing like it here in San Bernardino. read more

I'm a local shopper here and Gerrald's market seems like a "support local farmers" and family orientated market. I personally know the owners children, I grew up with them in high school and I can not say nothing bad about their own. However, I do recall walking into Gerald's after a hot summer day after work to purchase an Arizona drink, I can say that I dressed in some dirty sweaty clothes like if I was doing yard work. I remember when I went up to the cashier I quickly noticed how the cashier, who was an older white lady, was scorning me down how bothered she seemed by my presence. So it turns out that I was about 6¢ short because of taxes so I start to search my pockets for loose change, that's when the nice gentlemen behind me offers to pay for the 6 pennies I was short. And she then immediately tells him out loud " I'm not going to accept that!" I was able to tell that I was not welcomed in that store. So I had to leave that day dying of thirst. It was clear that my Mexican-American heritage & background was not welcomed by that particular cashier. It was such a shock to me because I had never been racially discriminated in the past, especially at a store in my own Neighborhood! read more

The market itself is OK and the bakery is average. They do have a good assortment of cheese. The food in the deli is only fair and the service in the deli is terrible. In the past two weeks I have left the store 3 times in the evening because I could not get service in the deli. One of the times two girls were standing in the back talking while one girl waited on customers. She asked for help and they ignored her. Tonight I purchased a half pound of shredded BBQ beef. When I got home I discovered that I had a half pound of fat. It was the most expensive dog food that I have purchased. read more

The absolute WORST catering and bakery. Their wedding cake was LEANING - photos! The "hot" food was cold and their cold pasta salads had been overly salted that they were inedible. It was a small wedding - they were paid for 2 attendees. They sent 1 - their airhead driver!! I called to complain to their catering manager - never returned my calls. When I moved here 25 yrs. ago it was a much better store. The employees have gotten incredibly rude. Particularly in the meat/deli dept. Once I ordered a special cake for my husband's birthday. My family loves whipped cream frosting so obviously that is what I ordered. When I picked it up it looked too white so I asked are you sure this is whipped cream. Oh yes she reassured me. At home I discovered it was that sickening crisco shortening frosting. I return to get a big argument from the asst. mgr. The girls remember you ordered butter cream. Really. Even if I did, this is crisco. When have you seen butter white as snow. That cake was pure over priced crap. After a lot of attitude I finally got a refund. But wait, shouldn't I be the one who is mad? I don't have a birthday cake for my husband now. Instead I left feeling grateful to get my $35.00 back. Also, on many occasions I have had to ask for my receipt that the rude young clerks just trash. Then they are mad you asked for it. You have to ask for the wooden tokens that you are supposed to receive when you use their grocery bags that you buy. They are so over priced it is ridiculous. For outstanding produce you can not beat the Ranch Market. For cheese and sliced meats Trader Joe's. They are so nice and helpful. You don't feel like you have to apologize for needing assistance. This store is frustratingly bad and lovingly good. It's the only grocery in Redlands that will order food and drink items that they don't normally carry. Just ask the right people and they will seriously try to get what you want. No other store (Albertsons, Stater Bros, Trader Joe's, Vons) will do this because if the corporate warehouse doesn't have it, you are out of luck. 99% of the employees are pleasant, knowledgeable, friendly, helpful... The other 1% seem to think "break" is part of their job description, especially a smoke break. The "produce" in the produce department looks more like compost, at times, and from day to day it looks more and more like it's becoming compost, at times. Gerrard's is always out of something; from Thursday to Tuesday Gerrard;s is out; the good news is that every 3rd Wednesday they might have what you want. At least twice this week, Gerrard's was out of something I wanted. Just walk along the aisles: the stuff people don't buy is dusty; the stuff people, like me, do buy is nowhere to be seen. The stocking person doesn't seem to understand that an empty slot means stock twice as much next time. For about five minutes a day, maybe, just maybe, the meat department will be up and running. The rest of the time, forget it. Even though there may be a bunch of guys in blood-stained white aprons and stupid baseball caps, they are not authorized to cut meat, even assuming the meat department actually had the meat. The "real" butchers/cutters have long since gone home. The deli workers mostly do not know what they are doing, because nobody trains them. They don't know what things are; they don't know where things are; they don't know how to do things. When you ask a question of someone in the deli, she will often say they are vegetarians or they don't know or they wouldn't eat it. I ask myself "If you don't like food or being around food, why don't you get a job at Pep Boys, selling spark plugs?" and "Who was the genius Gerrard's manager who hired this girl?". The other negative reviews of Gerrard's are correct. The owner of Gerrard's has many years of experience in the grocery business but he stopped caring long ago; for him, Gerrard's is a retirement hobby. I wish I could afford to buy this place. Gerrard's could be a gem. Oddly, I actually like food. OK, so I was just at Gerrard's today, in the meat department. Naturally, since it's Friday, they were out of what I wanted. The meat boy told me to come back on Monday. Apparently, the owner of Gerrard's believes that his customers don't eat on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday (the very worst day to shop in his store). So, I went to Albertsons where they had the meat I wanted and a butcher to cut it for me. Although Gerrard's has an excellent cheese department, they're always out of some basic thing. After four days, they're still out, so I went to Trader Joe's for a successful purchase. Last year Gerrard's was out for TWO WEEKS so I again went to Albertsons, which naturally had what I wanted. This place has been here a very long time, and I can only base my opinion of this place from personal experience since I practically lived next door to it for the past 14 years or so...This place is great because it is not the typical grocery store. If I had to compare it, it is kind of like a Trader Joes but with more choices. They always have alot of specials like buy 1 get 1 free and for the most part most of the food is all fresh, althought I have seen some rotting produce on occasion, but that is to be expected with produce. The one thing I really dig about this place is that if you like to drink wine they have a HUGE selection of it, not only that but they usually ALWAYS have specials that benefit the customer, I like the buy 1 bottle get another for a penny. I have moved within the last 6 months, but when I am passing through redlands, I try to stop and get several bottles of wine because its a GREAT deal...One other thing that i go there for is the FRESH orange juice that they sell out front. They make it daily out in front of their store and its from REDLANDS grown oranges and that stuff just taste amazing... read more
