Lucky for me…read moreLove Park had the Foolish Waffles Truck because I had one of the best meals I've had in a while. There were five others waiting for their orders, and I gazed at the menu. I've always heard of chicken and waffles, but have never tried it. This was my choice. I chose wisely. The boneless fried chicken breast was light and delicate and not greasy. The slaw was not too dry or runny with sauce. The candied jalapeño peppers should have been more plentiful on top, but I liked the slices I got. The waffle, although not crunchy or crispy, and actually a little mushed, had outstanding flavor and surprisingly complemented the chicken and slaw. I was blown away how good it was and a decent sized portion. They have others like an Italian, and a Vietnamese version of waffles with stuff. Additionally, that have the sweet waffles with fruit toppings. This was a definite 5-star lunch today! $12 for the fried chicken and waffles. I posted a picture of it and the menu with the prices of the day.

They put plenty of chicken on the waffle and the waffle and chili honey were very tasty. I do wish I added syrup, because the honey had evaporated into the waffle by the time I walked back to eat. I did deduct a star because we waited over twenty minutes for our food to cook. This is problematic when on a lunch break from work. I wish there was a way to call in the order beforehand and pick it up. They do take credit cards, with a $0.50 fee. I would def try it again, but would be prepared for the long wait.

Upon arrival, I learned that the Patchwork Restaurant & Bar is where the happy hour specials, dinner options, and in the morning, breakfast takes place. I enjoyed the food and service during my visit for breakfast before heading back to the airport the next day. The Patchwork Philly has a restaurant, a bar, and a market. The restaurant includes breakfast, brunch, dinner, bar-cocktail, happy hour, and dessert. The happy hour menu is only valid at the bar. Reservations can be made on OpenTable. Breakfast is served until 10:30 AM. They serve omelettes (Denver, Egg White, and Patchwork omelets), sweets (yoghurt parfait, ricotta pancakes, and steelcut oatmeal), savory dishes (Italian-inspired breakfast plate, eggs benedio, croissant sandwich), drinks, sides, and the breakfast buffet with chef's daily selections including coffee and tea. The buffet was great! It included fruits (dried and fresh), breads, meats, eggs, and so much more. And even better, for those with Hyatt Globalist status, you get a free breakfast at Patchwork Philly! You can learn more about Patchwork Philly at https://patchworkphilly.com including menus, reservations, events & private dining, information about the chef, a photo gallery, and social media links. They are open for breakfast on weekdays from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Brunch is on the weekends from 7 AM to 12 Noon. Dinner is Sunday through Thursday from 5 PM to 9 PM and Friday and Saturday from 5 PM to 10 PM. The bar is open on Sunday through Thursday from 4 PM to 9 PM and Friday and Saturday from 4 PM to 11 PM. Happy hour is weekdays from 4 PM to 6 PM and includes discounted dishes from parmesan fries, arancini, shrimp cocktail, and a burger and beer vibe combo. Bar snacks include olives, spiced nuts, popcorn duo, and onion dip. I'd assume there are happy hour drink specials, too. The quick service and tasty food made Patchwork Philly a great food option at the Hyatt Centric, and if I stay there again, I'll jump at eating again at Patchwork Philly!

Our server Rachel was lovely and gave us a rundown of their specials and the menu's top hits. Our drink selections ranged from as boring as a Diet Coke to as fun as a seasonal lemonade. We were all content with our choices, though we puttered around making suggestions from their large drink menu. I typically go for a savory breakfast, but the stuffed brioche French toast was speaking to me. I can never turn down banana! The rest of our table ordered avocado toast (x2) and fried eggs with bacon. Everyone was really happy with their choices and an added bonus was that our food came out quickly. I insisted everyone at our table try a bite of my massive stuffed brioche French toast and the consensus was that it was ridiculously good. Though this spot is tiny, it is not to be missed.

Luckily, we found street parking right next to the restaurant, which was a nice surprise. When we arrived, the wait for a table of three was about 45 minutes. That's somewhat expected for a popular brunch spot on a weekend. Once seated, the service was prompt. Our waiter stopped by quickly with waters and took good care of us throughout the meal. I ordered the House Angus Burger with sweet potato fries. It was solid, flavorful, and definitely filling. My friend got the Bella Vista Omelet with home fries, and we both agreed that while the food was good, it felt like standard brunch fare rather than anything particularly memorable. Based on the long wait and the hype surrounding Sabrina's, I think we were expecting the food to really stand out. In my opinion, the dishes we tried were comparable to what you'd find at a quality chain brunch spot like First Watch. That's not necessarily a bad thing, the food was satisfying, but it didn't quite justify the lengthy wait. That said, the menu has plenty of more unique and creative options that we didn't try. I'd be open to coming back and ordering one of those specialty dishes next time. Overall, I left satisfied with the meal and service.

That was my favorite part, how interesting walking through each room was. Unfortunately, the service and food were problematic. We had a group, not huge by any means, but the group gratuity became an annoyance following the service. Most importantly, multiple people in the table were served undercooked fish--the inside of their salmon was completely raw. One of these guests also had a severe allergy, and was still given plates with that allergen after alerting the server multiple times. One of the pomegranate margaritas we got was undrinkably spicy. The staff did replace the salmon, but it was sad to see multiple members of our group get cold and undercooked food. Furthermore, our table set the reservation during the Fearless Restaurant week--but when we asked for the special menu advertised online, our server had no clue what we were talking about. He had to ask us what the items on the prix fixe menu were. And after all that, the multiple drinks each person at our table got, the mid-level set price for the 3-course special, we were still hungry. The portions for the fearless menu were really small. But, due to their menu prices, rather than order more I went home for a second dinner. I really wanted to like this restaurant, but I'm disappointed and underwhelmed. The food was alright, but not for the price and experience we got.
