Unfortunately, the food quality was disappointing. The cabbage was essentially plain steamed cabbage -- very underseasoned and more like cafeteria vegetables than braised southern cabbage. I actually had to go home and re-season and cook it further just to make it edible. The sweet potatoes tasted good, but they had a noticeable smoky/BBQ odor, like they had absorbed grease or smoke from the kitchen environment. The cornbread itself was very good, but the portion was extremely small -- basically a sample-sized piece. Considering I tipped $5 on a small order, it would have been nice to include an additional piece or two. The biggest ongoing issue, though, is consistency. Over the years the restaurant is frequently out of items and the quality varies visit to visit. The dining/kitchen area is also visibly worn and could really benefit from a deep clean and upkeep.
