Ghiringhelli's has great pizza, for sure. I used to live in Fairfax and ate there often. I moved elsewhere in Marin and kept driving over there for it. But things changed. Yes, I enjoyed the quirky playlist of sixties music. That stopped, replaced by unpredictable stuff. Okay. Then, crazily bright fluorescent bulbs were screwed into the ceiling, ones from which you could not avoid the glare. Unpleasant, but I kept looking forward to the pizza. Then, the small but acceptable wine list was reduced to two choices, kind of like Pizza Hut - Chardonnay and Cab. Sav. Why in the world you would possess a California liquor license and do this is a mystery. But that finally killed it for me. We've been to this place no fewer than five times to order slices. On four of the five times we ate there, they screwed up our order, an order of three slices of pizza. I'll repeat that, because it is staggering but true. On FOUR of FIVE visits, they screwed up our order of three slices of pizza. Wrong toppings, missing toppings, missing a slice, I mean they screwed it up in some creative ways. Once they made it up by sending us with a whole pizza to make up for their mistakes, and it was wrong as well. Very nice people, but just completely careless about what they're doing. Pizza is pretty average at best. For slices, they start with a basic cheese pizza, then throw whatever toppings they decide to throw on there (regardless of what you ask for...oh, you want olives? Here, how bout white onions instead? You want pepperoni? How bout mushrooms instead?) without topping with cheese and then shove it in the oven long enough to just barely heat everything up. $40 for 4 screwed up slices of poorly cooked pizza has become a deal breaker for us. The people with negative reviews must have some weird agenda because this place is the best. By far the best pizza in Marin & their customer service is always fantastic. Ordered one slice of cheese + a vegan pizza over Memorial Day weekend. I messed up and got there 5 minutes after they closed & someone had accidentally given the woman before me the vegan pizza I ordered. Once they realized what had happened they apologized profusely, I used to work in a restaurant so I get it, offered me a free drink & started remaking my pizza. I waited for 5 minutes and was on my way. Once I got home I realized they subbed my single slice for an entire small cheese pizza. And that was before the mix up with the vegan pizza. After we hiked at Lake Lagunitas, we were searching for lunch. This place caught our eyes and we decided to give it a try. This place is amazing! The pizza is made quickly. Came down from hiking Cataract Falls and found this amazing pizza spot with exceptional vegan options. Miyoko's cashew vegan cheese is absolutely delicious on the #12. Whole roasted garlic and a massive amount of other veggies like eggplant, roasted leeks and mushrooms give this pizza quite a memorable taste. The crust is made to perfection. Alex is super cool and always provides the best service. Ghiringhelli's vegan pizza was my motivation to get up and work for it on that hike. I practically stuffed my face. Moved to the area recently and have ordered a few pizzas which have all been just meh and expensive. After picking up my order last night, I arrived home to find that they had burned my $30 pizza. I called to complain today and told them that I would be happy to return the uneaten pizza if they would just make me a new one. I was told by the manager that it isn't their policy to give me a new pizza. Even though it was less than 24hrs later. How this place stays in business with their rancid food and rude staff I will never know. If you have a brian in your head you will never patronize this business. I also tipped them for my takeout because I was a restaurant worker at one time in my life and I know how hard the employees work. Fool me once shame on me, fool me twice, shame on me. I used to be a big fan of Ghiringelli's pizzeria. I've been going here since I was a child and went to school with the people who run it. I'm sorry to say that they have really let the service, food, and prices go way downhill. They now charge far too much for substandard pizza and they even charge 1.75 for ranch now. I hope things get better but I will not be going there anymore. Red boy pizza right down the road is far superior in every way to Ghiringhelli's now. Your slices are over 5$ and they're so small now, they used to be a decent size. I understand that prices have to go up sometimes, but changing the size of the slice and also charging more isn't right. You charge way too much for ranch, your ranch does taste good but 1.75 for a regular serving is crazy. NEW ORDERING SYSTEM NO GOOD! Local resident. Used to call in for my regular pie and all I had to do was give my phone number the team had my address and even my last order. Now I call and I have to go through a 5 minute process of providing my address, phone, and order while they enter it in prior to getting the same order I always order. Hold times have increased as a result and now a poor process. Pizza still deliciouse but the ordering is a hassle and I feel like a stranger everytime I call. Go back to the old system. I went on a motorcycle ride through Marin County with my cousin last weekend. While passing through Fairfax, we decided to stop for a bite to eat. We decided to grab two sandwiches to go and to eat them in the park close by. It was a great idea... That is, until we ended up waiting 40 minutes for two sandwiches (no joke, literally). On top of the long wait, I saw the guy that was making my sandwich holding the lettuce that was going into my sandwich in one hand while shaking hands with a customer using the other hand (at least he didn't use the lettuce hand!). We were clear with the waitress that the sandwiches were for take out, yet neither of us received forks for the "salad" that came with the sandwich, and no napkins were provided. We ended up wiping our hands with the paper bag that the food was packed in. If you have a lot of spare time, don't let tiny things like health code violations bother you, and like to eat your food with your hands and not wipe them afterward, then this is the place for you! read more
