    Chicken Shack wrap
    Emily M.

Ordered the grilled chicken shack wrap and chicken was disgusting!! Gray and grisly, definitely not white meat grilled chicken. My husband got a wrap with fried chicken and his was white meat. Who wants non white meat chicken in a wrap? Threw it away, it didn't look edible. Didn't taste good either.

    Italian beef

This place had caught my attention with the various sandwich offerings. My wife loves a chicken sandwich and I was curious about the Italian beef. Though it's not something I had actively searched out, I hadn't been to Chicago in a while. We decided to stop for lunch. It's an interesting little spot. Sparse seating and a simple counter. The staff was really nice. We placed our order and chatted a bit about the food. Hopefully I'm recalling correctly, but the owner at the counter mentioned his wife (who I believe was the chef) was from Chicago. Food came out relatively quickly. While I don't have the opportunity for a side-by-side comparison, the Italian beef was really good. Pretty much what I would expect it to have tasted like. My wife's chicken sandwich and fries also looked quite good. I feel it's tough to assess pricing these days, so while not expensive, even a sandwich out is becoming more of the occasional treat vs. a regular thing.

    Buffalo Chicken Wrap

When searching for lunch in the area, we stumbled upon Ghosted Concepts (inside a cute ice cream store). I had the Buffalo chicken wrap, my wife had the Italian beef sandwich and we shared the bacon cheese fries. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We didn't want blue cheese on the wrap- and they were able to make it from scratch. The wrap was large and the chicken was excellent. The Italian beef sandwich was straightforward- if a tiny bit soggy, but my wife enjoyed the freshness of the meat and pickled veggies. The fries were outstanding- hot, crisp, and covered with cheese and bacon. We will definitely come back again.

2025: No crispy, crunchy crust. Just awful flavorless breading. Nasty, big glob of mayo slopped on. Gross!

BUYER BEWARE!! Mysteriously, my updated review disappeared along w/my original review & now my review is "not recommended." Note: Owner's comment wrongly accuses this user as the cops weren't called during my visit. I just left absolutely disgusted. BLUF: You know when something is so good & you're waiting for the bottom to fall out? Unfortunately, for this place moment arrived. Food: gross & nowhere near the quality that was once enjoyed. No more hot, crispy, tasty chicken sandwiches, chicken strips, wraps, or even fries. Lobster rolls? Forget them. Most expensive sandwich you'll ever pay for only to wind up regretfully unsatisfied. In 2022 the food actually seemed like fresh-cooked home recipe chicken. Now, it seems like the food is no better than mass produced previously frozen fried stuff that you get at a nearby cheap chicken chain restaurant or local gas station. The joint is a no frills aged, rather dingy chicken stand/ice cream shop. Cookies & Cream: Some ice cream flavors are tasty but not the whole selection. Freezer on fritz? Sometimes flavors are gritty (melted and refrozen?), other times chewy or gummy (old?), & other times really soft or soupy. Maybe a small upcharge for a sugar cone may be ok, but charging extra for a regular cake cone? RUINS the epitome of a traditional ice cream experience. Too much competition in the area for an easy, tasty, scoop of ice cream! Nickel & diming customers gets old fast. Did they gain recognition for their wings at the expense of everything else? Worth the drive? NOT any more. General good practice: If you're having a bad day at work, it's usually a good idea NOT to take it out on your co-workers & customers. Another one bites the dust. This "flagship" location has fallen from grace in just about every important aspect necessary to small biz survival. Very disappointing discovery. These chicken sandwiches were once dream-worthy a few years ago when they first opened. But, now, it left me feeling queasy & the sandwiches looked horrible. Mine was a gloppy, greasy, soggy mound. Barely breaded/coated chicken on a greasy bun. I could see the meat through the carelessly floured or maybe cornmealed breading. The former thick coating of crispy, crunchy crust was completely absent as if they didn't even remember to dip it in batter. A complete opposite of what their sandwiches used to look & taste like. There was an overwhelming amount of mayo (picture a very thick paste-like layer) & a sparse runny tablespoon of slaw for which you pay an extra $1.50. A slab of rubber chicken between oily, soggy bread. The rest of the chicken we received looked like it was fried in old grease for way too long. Dry, dark brown bits. Soggy, chewy fries all stuck together in a compressed mass. Soaked up way too much oil. Kitchen staff unabashedly unwilling to be helpful & unnecessarily & rudely reactive in response to requests to remedy minor errors in the order. What we received from the kitchen should never have come out of the kitchen, including the kitchen staff, ready to throw punches. The cashier was the only positive to the visit. This place is still plagued with production, operational, customer service issues & it affects consistently producing high-quality food & service when the business is slightly off balance from mildly elevated degrees of stress. Be warned--these issues seem to run deep & will yield hit or miss results in both food & service on any given day. Every day carries some risk of increased stress but busier days carry the most, of course. A well-oiled business will consistenly & professionally manage this risk & the fallout when it occurs & will continuously right itself through contant planning for inevitable mishaps & executing best practices & industry gold-standard improvements. Maybe they've bitten off more than they can chew with a second location opening soon per reports & posts. In Manassas, plenty of other great places do fried foods extremely well. No more drooling over their food. We're left nauseated by the overly greasy food and with an experience tainted by shockingly horrible service & inconsistent food quality. To experience the decline of both food & service in a place that used to bring joy is a huge letdown. I cannot with good conscience recommend this place any more. This restaurant is no longer a good "complete package" value. Much competition exists & will exist in the area of the flagship & new location. Have already experienced a few of their "off days" over the past few years. BUT if you decide to try them because you believe this review is still an outlier, or you keep going there as a loyal customer, I hope you're lucky enough to catch them on a good day so that you get better food, better service, and better reception as a guest. This restaurant (and its "concept") is no longer one of our top 5 must-haves and has been decisively and permanently removed from our rotation.

Chicken Tenders - 2 regular (right) and one Nashville style (left)

Cute little place. Both me and my husband thought the chicken was delicious. Tender and juicy, perfect seasoning, and the Nashville style had just right right amount of heat. Loved the sauce too. My husband got the roast pork and it was just ok. I recommend trying the chicken sandwich Nashville style if you like that sort of thing! Wish I'd gotten the sandwich it was that good, and that I'd had room for ice cream.

Bacon Cheese Fries - Oh my!!! Soooo delicious!!
    Linda B.

The food and service were great!! (Ordered through Uber Eats) The subs and BACON seasoned cheese fries arrived hot and fresh and everything was SUPER DELICIOUS and WONDERFUL!! We also ordered a Mr. Pibb and an Arnold Palmer with a slice of lemon and both were fantastic!! We will most DEFINITELY be ordering from here again and again!!

This place does online orders/pick up/delivery only! Ordered and the food was delivered quickly. The food was good portions but on the pricier side. FOOD: ~Spicy shack sandwich (5/5): Hefty sandwich, GREAT flavor. Raw jalapeno slices for a little bit of freshness ~Cheese fries (4/5): very tasty and comes smothered with cheese and bacon bits Definitely a good spot for a hot chicken sandwich

A GAZILLION STARS!!! Ghosted Concepts is literally one of my favorite eateries! Run by Chef Sabia (WHO'S ORIGINALLY FROM CHICAGO!!!), this ghost kitchen is nestled inside Cookies & Cream - currently, they're only accepting online orders, but will soon transition into in-person (and, for those individuals who are complaining about mobile ordering or the site not 'working properly' for them, just stop - it works just fine, and it's really not that hard, seriously). The menu offers cheese fries, fish and chips, fish and chicken sandwiches, BBQ, deli sammies, and even vegetarian options. We ordered: +the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich - topped with housemade ranch dressing and premium bleu cheese crumbles; this was soo soo good - super saucy, perfect amount of ranch dressing & bleu cheese crumbles, and the chicken was fried perfectly & was super juicy! +the Chicken Shack Sandwich - topped with mayo, pickles, and added coleslaw on a brioche bun; probably one of the best fried chicken sandwiches I've had - that coleslaw was super creamy and yummy, and a great addition to the sandwich! +the Ultimate Roast Beef - stacked generously with thinly sliced roast beef, grilled onions, and a housemade horseradish garlic aioli sauce on a kaiser roll; best roast beef sandwich, EVER! The roast beef was prepared wonderfully, and the combination of the grilled onions and the housemade horseradish garlic aioli sauce just made this HEAVEN ON EARTH! I want extra of that sauce next time! Everything was just on point, delicious, and super super satisfying - I just couldn't believe our luck in finding such a place. Currently drooling all over myself, just thinking about them! Ghosted Concepts is totally worth the trek, and if we lived closer, we'd probably be here daily - no joke! Definitely will make it a point to have this part of our daily dining rotation! Thank you for existing, Chef Sabia and Ghosted Concepts - I can't wait to return to try out the rest of your menu! Try this place out - you won't regret it! +the Ultimate Roast Beef! +the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich! +the Chicken Shack Sandwich! +don't forget to add the coleslaw! +ask for Chef Sabia! +friendly service! +currently taking online orders only +plenty of parking in lot

Everything was so delicious! I had the green beans , mashed potato, candied yams, and jerk lamb meatloaf. So you're aware, the food is made to order so it's perfect when you're planning ahead for lunch or dinner. They also deliver! (Ask for details dep. on your area). The chef was so, so nice! It's an honor to support her business! All of the vegetables tasted like they were farm-fresh--nothing was frozen! The green beans were expertly cooked with fresh tomatoes, mushrooms, and onions. The best green beans ever! I would love to get these again! The mashed potatoes were so creamy and the yams were nice and sweet, but not too, too sweet. They were perfectly balanced and had the best texture! The meatloaf was made with all of the love in the world! Now, since it has lamb, the flavor is very, very prominent. I'm not really a big meat person but this was a cool touch, and I'll try anything once! If you're a huge fan of lamb, I recommend it. I loved how there was gravy at the bottom and the traditional tomato based topping on top! I shared with my brother when he came to visit, he tore it all up! Lol. I would definitely order from Auntie's again. I saw that a friend follows the chef on social media and she absolutely loves Auntie's, too! Then the Oysters Rockefeller.... simply put, so much flavor! I then opted to get the Heirloom Burger. All the items that came on the burger added to the taste experience, however, my only wish was that the patty should have been seasoned a tad more. I added this casual spot to my list a couple months ago, but didn't have concrete plans to check it out. Driving to Manassas and back on I-66 from where I live would cost half of my brain cells and all my patience. However, a few friends and I drove out to Shenandoah this past Friday evening, and I made a convincing argument that HawaU would be on the way. By the time we arrived, we were all incredibly hungry and ready to wolf down anything edible. The ordering process was easy: we ordered and paid at the counter, grabbed a seat at one of the few tables, and waited ~10-15 minutes for the food (parts of it are made to order). LOCO MOCO (BOWL) - 9.99 The chipotle-sized bowl was topped with loco moco: white rice base topped with hamburger patty, fried egg, grilled pineapple slice, and a generous pour of beef & mushroom gravy, plus sides of fresh cabbage salad and mac salad. The gravy nostalgically reminded me of the ones I'd get from cafeteria-style school lunches -- thick, salty, slightly starchy, yet oddly comforting. The egg, hamburger patty, and rice were pretty standard, but the familiarity of the gravy tied the whole dish together nicely. Both salads were good -- the cabbage was more light and refreshing, while the mac salad felt a bit heavy after all the loco moco. Since it's my first time eating loco moco, I can't say how it compares to others. However, I found HawaU's incredibly comforting and hearty. It really hit the spot for me, and I ate the whole bowl within 10 minutes. The loco moco is definitely their signature option and a must try. My friends who got the spicy pork bowl and udon thought both were just OK and not special.
