I live next to Stewart's meats and go out of my way to buy from gibsons meats. The cuts are top notch, the smoking and aging quality of the bacon is second to none, the pricing is competitive and when they have specials on sale it's a better deal than winco can offer. The customer service is amazing, my pregnant wife came in and was overwhelmed by the smell of meat and before she could say anything she had 3 butchers assisting her. They got everything she needed, cared greatly for her, brought her a seat, offered her to go outside to get fresh air while they packaged and labeled the meat, they even carried it all to the car for her and opened her doors. I have lived in Yelm, Lacey, Tacoma, Lakewood and Steilacoom and I will always go here to purchase meat. They also offer military discount which is a plus. read more

I understand they are the same owners just changed the name. I have gotten several bad pieces of chicken and pork here. Chicken seemed old and tough. Pork ribs had an unusual texture and tough. I do find the staff friendly and accommodating. the last bacon I bought on sale was amazing. read more

I had not been in to Gibsons since it changed over from Micheals . Micheals meat , I had horrible customer service . Gibsons is OUTSTANDING! The customer service was exceptional ! I needed a center cut from the tenderloin and the cut it and trimmed it to perfection . The store is clean and everyone was polite! I will now shop for all of my meats. read more

Since this place was taken over by Gibson it has VASTLY improved! They are friendly, the place doesn't smell like sour meat, and they have BOUDAIN! I refuse to buy meat from the grocer and Gibson's has made it easy to keep up the habit of eating clean meat. They even keep a freezer full of raw bones for my dogs. read more

The only consistently good meat I have gotten here is the pork. The best ham I have ever had was from here, and some of the best boneless pork loin chops as well. That being said, the beef has always been below average to poor quality. The most recent purchase was a pound of frozen ground buffalo. I was really in the mood for some homemade buffalo burgers, and they turned out horrible! The meat had no flavor and even had a weird texture as if the meat were not processed correctly. Very disappointing for a butcher shop. I will only go back to buy pork products when they have a good sale. read more

I heard about Gibson Meats through a friend and I checked it out today and it is OUTSTANDING! Being that we now don't know where our meats are coming from in the grocery store it is nice to have a local butcher shop to provide good prices and a wide selection of fresh meats for my family. Had a porterhouse steak this evening and wow!, juicy, tender and a lot of flavor. The customer service is awesome. Friendly and helpful. Today my first priority was to purchase some organ meat for our 9 1/2 year-old German Shepherd - just some basic essentials for him since I'm not so confident about the commercial kibble dog foods I've found. Gibson's ground mix (ground organ meat and some carrot) sounded like a very good choice - and it was! Bart (GSD) does not live to eat; he eats to live and, while he is reasonable and does have a culinary sense of adventure, he doesn't get into everything we offer him. Well, shortly after I arrived home, he sampled a couple of nibbles of Gibson's mix from my hand and then ate every morsel in his dish. Fresh/frozen organ meat is so good for our canine family members! Gibson's will wrap small quantities of their mix for you if you ask and I strongly encourage you to try this mix! So far, the mix doesn't have a real name, but maybe as all of us find out how good it is for our pups... read more

my wife and i bought a locker pack from there and all the meat smelled of rotten old fish, we had to throw it all away. as the other reviews stated the place smelled of nothing but rotted fish or meats of some sort. i should have known better. so if were you i would pass right on by this place. read more

Gross half rotten green/ brown ribeyes for new years! My wife tried to do something special for dinner and came home with half rotten half bloodshot ribeye's. Don't waste your gas money, my lab wouldn't eat this meat. I wish she could get her money back. read more

I ordered a 13# prime rib roast (choice grade) for Christmas dinner without seeing the roast to determine the marbeling in the roast. I assumed that after the owner told me it was a choice grade roast, I would take his word for it. It wasn't!! After being in the food business (clubs & restaurants) for over 40 years I would know the difference between a choice grade of meat and select. I did not unwrap the roast until we arrived at my daughter's home so I could season it. I was very disappointed with what I got but at this point the only viable thing to do was to continue on and roast it. I seasoned it well and rubbed it with butter hoping the fat from the butter will be injected into the roast, thus tenderizing it. After roasting it and pulling the roast from the oven with an internal temperature of 120 F. degrees and resting it for 30minutes, I carved into the roast. The doness was a nice pink slice of beef that was as tough as my old leather yard boots when I bit into it. I was very, very disappointed and even though my family was saying it'll be ok, I kept apologizing. Never again will I ever get anything from this meat market. Lesson learned!!!! read more

Been here a few times and one impression I always leave with is how great the service is. Every time I come the staff is genuinely helpful and interested in helping find the perfect cut or hard to find item for any recipe. This is my go-to spot when I want to make something special. They don't have a huge selection but what they have is high quality, and fairly priced. If they don't have it they have always been willing to get it or help me find it. Highly recommend. read more

This place is awesome compared to the old dirty micheals. The prices are great for what you get. You can tell that the owner cares about his business and it shows. So the other day I watched the owner suggest to customer that if they bought it in a case it would be cheaper and the customer would get more bang for her buck. Most businessman do not go out of their way to help people, but he did and it shows that he is a good person. The quality of meat is beyond reproach. The deals that he has weekly cannot be beat by franchised stores or local stores. He is also trying to put back into to the community by trying to expand his vegetables section from local businesses. He has also supported the local high school in one of their fund raisers for the Future farmers of America raffle.The owner has started selling deli meat that is far superior to the franchise stores. read more

Went there early December they had ground chuck (hamburger) on sale 10lbs for $29 something, so we bought 10lbs they went in the back indicating it was pre packaged came back moments later with 10 1lb packages (not frozen), put them in my freezer bag with the other meats we purchased and 3 frozen polar packs got them home and put them in the freezer. Within a week pulled a pound of the ground beef and it was rotten as well as the other 9 will not be retuning to spend money on rotten meat. read more

We bought some rib steaks last week, and they were terrible! Barely got to eat it, because it was so chewy and tough! The meat might have been old. Another reason meat is tough, is if the animals are missed treated and are stressed out. Many' factory farms' ( non-organic) miss treat animals from birth to slaughter. Animals never get to go outside, and are raised in a stall they can't even turn around in, live on eating bad grain, and are given unnecessary high doses of antibiotics and hormones. Regardless where they get their meat, we will NEVER go back there again! read more

formerly michaels meats is now under new ownership. terrible selection and the quality appears to be low. after looking over the selection I purchased one rib steak. most of the steaks were 50% fat. won't be going back. this is really a shame as Michaels always had good meat and prices read more
