This coffee shop is a great addition to the Downtown Stone Mountain area which is trying to revitalize. I feel like this area has had better days. The philly cheesesteak place which was a popular destination has been closed for a while and a lot of their other businesses don't seem to be open when i'm nearby or also closed down so Gilly Brew Bar is one of the few places that are still open for this cute area. I also don't even think I fully experienced the coffee shop. I think they have an upstairs, but I wasn't sure if it was part of the coffee house or the pizza place. The pizza place it is connected to is only open a few days a week, so I haven't seen it open. The drinks here are awesome! Their cold brew is great and last time I got a rosemary syrup. I didn't get the rosemary flavor from the latte, but it was still a good cold brew. They have a couple tables right outside as well so it was nice to sit and read on a breezy day. The business is black-owned and I love the decor inside too. The barista is super nice and easy to talk to. I need to come back and try some of their other drinks and also try the pizza place next door. read more

I'd you've been to the South Carolina coast and been around geechee pwiple, or you know real Nola, the house and plants remind me of such communities. In this week alone I tried the "Flocka" which is a game-changer. I've had the "Oh Sheep?" and my personal fav so far, "The Moss," a mix of ginger beer and matcha. They also hit me with the "Dirty Chico" today and oh my gosh I don't know how they accomplish such bursts of flavor! RUN TO THIS PLACE. They also collaborate with other creatives. The 2nd floor is still a work in progress but the goal is to provide even more seating area. - Creativity: Every time I've been here there is some new seasonal concoction on the menu! I've had the Ferrero latte, the Biscotti latte, and the Rose Lavender Latte. I love that I can't find these flavors any where else making my trip OTP totally worth it. - Friendly and knowledgeable staff: I don't know how many questions I have asked the guys behind the bar but I'm so thankful for the patience with me. This coffee shop is adorable. It is located over the rail road tracks in downtown Stone Mountain. It is an old house turned into a coffee shop. There are multiple levels in the house perfect for studying or working remote. The staff was very friendly and my coffee was delicious. I love the tables out front. Beautiful Black owned coffee bar in Stone Mountain. I love love love the patio/porch first of all. It wraps around the building and is covered and so spacious and breezy. The space inside is gorgeous and they are planning to open up for food and cocktails maybe by the end of the year. I was lucky enough to talk to the owner for a few minutes and he was so welcoming inviting! The coffee itself was delicious. I got an iced oatmik lavender mocha (they make all their syrups in house and they are delicious!). The coffee was so good that I got a bag of beans to take home. The owner was able to advise as to which roast of beans would be best for me to drink black from a Moka pot and the beans are divine. I am so happy to have found this place and can't wait to go back! read more

This is such a lovely house-turned-coffee shop! I love the vibe, and there is plenty of seating upstairs, on the patio, and the wraparound balcony on the second floor. Inside it can feel a bit cramped, especially if most of the seats are taken, but there is a fan, and the windows can be propped open to help with air flow. There's also plenty of outlets, so that's a plus. The balcony even has swing chairs!! I got a flat white, and they source cupcakes from local Apple Butter Bakery as well. I got the cookies and cream cupcake, and it was moist and delicious. Stone Mountain is a bit farther from where I live, but if my first time here was any indication, it's worth the drive! The French toast is sublime and the candied bacon... oh my word - my new favorite! I normally just get a cold brew, but decided to be a bit more adventurous today. I did get my cold brew (need the caffeine!), but tried the Brooklyn Moss (refreshing!) and the Sorrel. Of the 2, the Sorrel is my favorite! It's got a spicy kick and not too sweet. It was so cool, they put the shots of espresso on the side for you to mix yourself. So cute. You're like a mini barista. And I got the iced vanilla latte. It was super delicious! I stopped by Gillys on the way home after a hike on Stone Mountain with my best friend. It's a old home converted into a coffee shop. I'm not sure but it looks like it was built perhaps around 1890. The coffee shop takes up a small portion of the home and they're renovating the other side too. She suggested we go since she's been raving about the Ginger Beer espresso drink she had there on a previous visit. They didn't have soy milk so I got an almond milk latte on ice instead and she got said ginger/espresso drink. I had a sip of hers and it was good. My drink was good also. Its a cute place with some nice young people working at the counter. We got our drinks to go but they have a porch upstairs you can sit on. My brother tried this place out and highly recommended it, so I gave it a try and he wasn't wrong about it. Coffee beans were roasted perfectly, not burnt or acidic, very smooth. One of the best lattes I've had, I got the rose water latte and my boyfriend got the americano since the cold brew was out before noon. There was an upstairs and a little balcony that over looks the train tracks and a little part of downtown. There were little yarn hammocks and tables and chairs. Barista was super friendly and helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. Parking is very limited, might have to park somewhere and walk. There's 2 spots to the left of the building. read more

I've been meaning to try Gilly Brew Bar for a long time. Gilly is a top result when I look for Nitro Cold Brew in the area. The pictures of the place are simply charming. I love supporting small businesses, and I was ready for a great experience. Gilly can be easy to miss when driving by. Turn into the small parking lot across from the library. Gilly is located in the historic Mayor's House, bought by owners Daniel and Shellane Brown. I ordered the Nitro Cold Brew that I sought. At $5.40, it's priced competitively. Payment is handled through Square on the iPad, and first issue pops up: high pressuring tipping. I hate having to select a tip on the iPad screen with the person receiving the tip looking at the screen. I took a seat in the downstairs area, but Daniel strongly insisted that I move upstairs. This, of course, wouldn't be a problem at all if it weren't for the fact that the upstairs area is not air conditioned. I sat and tried to do work, but I was incredibly uncomfortable with the heat. The fan that they put in the corner was far from sufficient. I should've gotten my drink to go and simply sat in the library. I'll give one star back because Daniel offered me water while I was still upstairs. I respect the fact that Daniel preserved the historic building, but my experience at Gilly still sucked. read more
