Been here maybe 30 times, see all the bad reviews about the owners. Never ever have I seen or experienced any rudeness. Always nice and pleasant, but I am asian and I understand the way the mom, owner is and I dont feel she is rude, Just a language barrier. Always good service and good sushi. Price went up a little but we understood why? We were a party of nine and the son (owner) was really appreciative we came out today. My go to spot for sushi Have been going to Gin Sushi for about 8 years - consistently great service and consistently fresh fish. The all-you-can-eat option is a great deal if you are hungry, the sushi is always made fresh when you order. The wait staff is very friendly and they are quick to get you your food. My wife doesn't eat sushi, but they also have a sesame chicken bowl that she loves. They also have a couple of flat screen TV's to catch up on sports or news. The place has always been clean and I highly recommend it! My favorite sushi rolls - Lobster Roll, Crunch Roll, Gin Roll, Alaskan Roll Special shout out to Ginny and Steve! I'm not much for sushi in general but my husband loves it. We've been to Gin about 3 times in the last year and really like it. Great price-to-quality ratio for All You Can Eat. I have enjoyed this place many times, but my last visit promped my 5 star review... My wife and i both got all we could eat and for the first time, our eyes were much bigger than our bellies! I love this place, and have much respect for the owner (i think is the nice older asian woman who usually works the register) so i volunteered to pay for what we did not eat on top of the AYCE price. The nice woman refused to take the extra money! And in fact, told a waitress to put what was left on the plates into a to-go box. Her reason for not charging us extra was because the service was a little slow that night. They were short one sushi chef, i guess...but we didnt even notice an abnormal wait. Despite what everyone said about some old lady being a big jerk, she was actually sweet as pie. My gf and I went last night for our anniversary and everyone was super nice. We were seated and served pretty fast. The all you can eat is definitely worth it but we were STUFFED by the second round. I don't think we realized how many rolls we could actually handle.. I went for the first time yesterday and had a fairly good experience. The best part about this place was the prices. Less than 25 dollars for my whole check (party of 2, one drinking alcohol) and both of us were left feeling more than full. The first thing we tried was the Crunch Rolls. They were absolutely delicious, the sweet Eel sauce on top complimenting it perfectly. The Golden Tiger Rolls were also a hit. Fried Tempura with a little bit of cream cheese in the middle was great and I would definitely order it again. The experience lacked a little in the service. Our server was sweet, but was young and very clearly overwhelmed. The first time our food was brought to the table it was the wrong food and we almost didn't realize and they didn't but luckily we did and called someone over and they corrected it. One of the items we ordered, the caterpillar rolls, which I was excited to try, never made it to our table, but our server apologized and quickly removed it from our check. RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL! My wife had a difficult time finding what she wanted looking at their online menu, so she asked for a printed menu. The waitress pointed to the two paper menus she brought to our table, but those were sushi menus, and my wife wanted to look at a regular menu. A man who worked there (I assume the manager) over heard us, and approached our table asking if there was a problem. We asked for a paper menu. He pointed to the QR code on the table and said it was online, and they did not have a paper menu because of COVID-19. If that was the case why did they have paper menus for sushi? I suggested they should also have the regular menu on paper incase a person does not have a cell phone. Instead of politely thanking me for the suggestion, he said in a sarcastic voice "When you own a sushi restaurant you can do what you want". After that we decided to leave. On the way out I told the man what you said to me was like saying "F&%K YOU" He smiled, chuckled, and said "pretty much yeah". We found a sushi restaurant across the street were the staff was friendly and polite. Reading the negative 1 star reviews people have wrote about Gin Sushi , it appears this is his M.O. and how he treats his customers. This would explain his 3.5 rating on Yelp. We have patron this restaurant several times, but will never go back again. I will spend my money in a place that appreciates their customers and treats them with respect. read more

We came during the lunch rush and spent nearly 2 hours trying to get what we wanted, I would not recommend it or come here again. Wow, worst service I have had in years! My friends have been telling about this place and I finally got to try it. We went on a Wed at lunchtime. Have you been to places that if they get a party of ten, they ignore everyone else in the restaurant? I had to go to the front three times, once for tea, once for plates to eat off, once to have anyone get our waitress. We asked for hot tea, the pot filled one and a half cups so the three of us had to keep asking for tea and getting an inch and a half of hot water in the pot. At three dollars for 1.5 cups of tea, we could see the why they kept making us ask for more. Two of us got the all you can eat lunch, my friend 's wife got the lunch special. when we tried to get plates the manager said my friend and I could have plates but his wife couldn't. Maybe all your other customers are thieves but we were willing to spend 70 bucks on lunch. so let's not asusme that they all are. We had to bus our own table, twice. I couldn,t get the waitress to take our second order so we pretty much just left. My friends couldn't understand why service was so crappy. Dirty restaurant​, dirty bathrooms, nasty attitude manager lady, horrible service,no busboy,total lack of waitress, I was so f'n mad I didn't really get to taste the food. After burning the scallops they just did not bring them out. We had to ask for them as we were leaving. One star is generous. I would fire everyone and start over, maybe a noodle house? read more

This place came recommended many times and so we ventured there on a Sunday after church with a few friends. There were 9 of us. At first it seemed all would be good. Place was somewhat busy which is a good sign and the server that greeted us was friendly. Once we sat that's when things fell a part fast! The owner/manager lady, not sure what her title is was unbearable! Our server was the sweetest girl but she was being harassed by this lady. She was ordering her around and dictating her every move. She wouldn't even let her speak to us at times. 5 out of our 9 ordered all you can eat and the rest ordered full meals. When the food began coming out the manager/owner watched us like a hawk. I'm assuming she was thinking we would share but seriously...WE ALL ORDERED FOOD! We weren't trying to pull anything and no one had the thought of sharing. She literally hovered over us for most of our meal. Then things got worse! Worse you say? WORSE! We have 2 kids who wanted to sit at the opposite end of where we were to be with their friends. When you have several people on the same check for all you can eat, it all comes on the same plate, so you have to divide the food onto smaller plates to give to each person. The lady then came over and insisted we change the way we were sitting so we weren't dividing the food. SERIOUSLY??!! My husband is a pretty passive, go with the flow kind of guy but at this point he was on edge! Let me reiterate that our server (didn't get her name/blonde) was wonderful! It's the manager/owner who is unbearable! There are other Sushi places that not only have great food but wonderful service. I'm not sure why this place still exists. I've come here pretty often and I have great experiences usually. Tonight we waited our usual wait on a Saturday night which is totally fine. Got our drinks and first round really fast. Put in for our second round and it was about ten fifteen minutes before we asked a waitress to check on our order. Few minutes later two waitresses came up and said sorry and our paper got thrown away...Cool. then we ordered and our food was ready on the counter as we watched it for a good five minutes before they brought it to us. Our waitresses weren't even apologetic in the least. Will be going to Zen Sushi in Lake Elsinore from now on...Not worth spending 30+ minutes waiting for a round when the restaraunt isn't even halfway filled up. Disappointed. read more

Avoid when the old lady (possibly the owner) is working. Every time she serves us she is rude... Just now when we asked for more ginger she pointed at us, told us to finish what we had first, grinned, then walked away. Now she's outside having a cigarette on the bench of the restaurant. Where have those hands been? Where are those hands going? It's just all bad when she's here. We were told customers often vent about her-That's reason enough to do something! The rest of the staff is 5-star excellent, sushi is good for the price. I'm not sacrificing value for bad service, this is my last stop. Temecula has better sushi places, she kind of disgraces the whole experience of it. My girlfriend and I use to love coming here but over the months it seems it has just been gradually going downhill. I don't like sushi so I never got it but my girlfriend almost always got the sushi and she normally sticks to the same three rolls. The last two times we've gone there she had the same rolls each time and we went home with really bad stomach aches. Never got sick, but that was enough for us. I normally get the lunch box or the sesame chicken dinner. The last two times we went I had gotten the sesame chicken lunch box and the teriyaki chicken lunch box. Their miso soup was great just like normal, but their salads are very hit or miss. Second to last time we went my lettuce was bad (wilting and had A LOT of pink/brown spots everywhere) and the very last time we went the lettuce was a little better looking BUT right after I took my first bite of it I spotted a tiny lime green colored bug on one of the pieces of lettuce. I have nooo clue what kind of bug it was nor did I care to ask. I simply put my salad aside and just let it go. I know I know you're thinking WHY Didn't you say something about it?! Here's why. The owner woman was there and I had no intensions of getting into it with her that day. (Keep in mind I have acid reflux and overall stomach issues before you read this next part) One day before all this We had gone in and I wanted to try something different. I saw that they offered vegetable yakisoba noodles and thought that it might be a nice change. Normally yakisoba is a safe bet for me it's normally pretty mild for me. So I order it, and when it comes out I can just smell all the spices they used to cook it. Before I even took a bite I had a bad feeling I would not be able to stomach it because of how heavily spiced it was. And by spice I don't mean hot. It wasn't a spicy heat that you get from hot sauce or anything like that, by spice I literally mean the overall concoction of herbs and spices they used to cook it in general. Well I took a bite of it and immediately it just sets my stomach on fire. Like hell had just re-birthed itself inside my stomach. To be fair I took a few more bites just to see if it would get any better and it just didn't. I asked my girlfriend to try it and even she said her stomach was on fire afterwards. So I set the dish aside and waited for a waitress to walk by. Someone comes by and asks if everything is okay and I told her I couldn't eat it, that it was too spicy for me. She looked worried and asked if I wanted to send it back and I said yeah thank you sorry. So then the owner lady walks out holding my dish in her hands and puts it on the table and goes "you no like yakisoba?" And she just has this look on her face like she was ready to bitch me out. So I tried to stay calm and I said that it had too many spices in it and my stomach can't handle it because I have acid reflux disease. She interrupts me after that and goes "there's nothing spicy in it we don't use spicy in yakisoba" so I attempted to tell her that it wasn't hot spicy but that the spices an herbs they used in the dish was the problem. She cuts me off AGAIN and says "we just cook it in sesame oil there no spice!!!" So by this point I was ready to go rounds. I finally get my previous sentence out to her and she goes "but there no spicy!!!" So I said okay whatever you say but I cannot eat this. So she stands there for a second then goes, "do you want to take it home?" I said no I can't eat it why would I take it home?! And she just continues to ask me if I'll take it home until I finally just gave in and said yeah fine I'll take the damn thing home. My girlfriend shared her gyoza with me for the remainder of the meal and I left more pissed off than I ever had before from any restaurant in my life. This place is lucky I even came back two more times!!! Anyway back to the lunch boxes, so there was a bug in my salad an I set it aside and finished my soup. My box comes out and I get about half way through eating it before my stomach starts hurting. Everything tasted fine, I had the teriyaki chicken, tempura vegetables, white rice and of course the noodles they always put underneath your entree meat for a filler because they're too cheap to give you a full portion of meat apparently. I don't know what it was that didn't agree but once my girlfriend said her stomach was hurting as well as I watched her painfully try to suffer through her normal sushi rolls we had just finally had it with this place. If you can avoid the owner this place was pretty nice but now they're food is suffering along with the tyrant they have running the place. I won't be back and it makes me sad because this was our favorite Japanese place. read more

If we are hungry we do AYCE sushi and if we aren't we stick with the new daily specials (they have poki bowl for $7ish!) can't beat the price for the quality they deliver and they give awesome service. It was our first time at Gin Sushi and it will be the last. My husband and I had heard this place was good and decided to do a mini-celebration for our 3-year anniversary there. After waiting half an hour to be seated at the sushi bar, we were greeted immediately by one of the sushi chefs with ginger and wasabi, which was the highlight of our experience there. We weren't sure if another server was going to come by to help us with drinks and our order or if the sushi chef would be serving us directly, so we waited. After another 10-15 minutes passed and at least 3 servers in the restaurant had passed us by at least twice, we finally flagged down a server and asked if someone would be coming by to help us. He said he didn't know and would check, then came back after a few minutes to take our drink orders. My husband asked who our waiter was supposed to be, inquiring about what could have happened to have caused us to be missed from being helped for so long. The server just replied, "I'll be your server." My husband asked again for clarification who was supposed to have been our server. If there was someone else that was supposed to help us, we wouldn't have minded waiting for our original server and not add extra burden to this server, as long as someone was coming. The server just shrugged off his question and repeated that he'd be our server. My husband asked one more time and the server replied back, "Everyone here is a server." My husband asked if that's really how it worked around here. He didn't say this, but it was hard to believe that everyone serves all the tables there because not one server seemed to have wanted to help us after we were seated. This was clearly not going well, so my husband asked for a different server. The server shrugged and said, "Whatever," and walked away. At that, my husband and I got up to leave as another gentleman walked toward us. My husband told him that we were leaving, and he followed us out with statements like "real standup behavior, guy". My husband turned and asked him for the manager, and it turned out this gentleman was a manager. My husband explained to him why were leaving and I added in that it was our first time at this restaurant and that we hoped that they weren't always like this. My husband stated that we wouldn't be coming back and the manager's reply was, "Good, I hope you don't." Slow service or lack of service can keep customers from having a great experience at a restaurant, but even worse service after a customer asks for help is another level of driving your customers away. We felt no respect and no care at that restaurant from the servers nor the management. We literally went across the street to Love Boat Sushi, which consistently treats us like family every time and served us with consistently good food and great service. If you're thinking of trying out Gin Sushi, it'd be more worth it to save your money and spend it at Love Boat Sushi. read more

Review on: Management/Owner/Customer Service I've been coming here for a long time. It's really not my personality to complain, in fact this is the 1st time I've ever posted anything on yelp. There's many times I've seen the owner smoking outside the restaurant with the sushi makers which I thought was very unprofessional and bothered me but I decided to pay it no mind because I like their sushi. But today when I came in for lunch I had the worst experience that I ever had going to any restaurants. While trying to figure out what roll to order. I asked the owner about the Oishi Roll, Red Dragon Roll & Gin Roll, after she told me I decided to go with the Oishi Roll & Dragon Roll. I told her I want the Oishi roll and the Dragon roll. She told me to mark them down on paper which I did, but inadvertently mark down the Hawaiian roll which is next to the Oishi roll. When one of the server brought my order, I told her that I didn't not order that roll. The waitress was about to take the order back when the owner with her stern voice told her to leave it because that's what I marked. My question is, if she knew I mark that by mistake how come she didn't let me know. Also she was very rude to tell me that since I marked it that I have to pay for it. I argued with her and told her that I told her verbally my order and she agreed that I did tell her my order but I marked it wrong. She also told me to eat it that it was good. Any ways I ate my Dragon roll and left the Hawaiian roll untouched on the table. I payed for my meal including the roll I didn't touch and lefted. The owners is very rude and very arrogant that she doesn't need to treat her employees and customers with respect. She makes it feel that it's a privilege to come here. My last visit, I came here with my wife and mother-in-law. We just wanted to buy something to go and after entering the place, the rude female owner gave us the worse attitude I have ever seen from a restaurant worker. "Owner" (owner's son everyone is talking about) is beyond rude. He apparently thinks it's okay to make rude comments as a family is walking out- enough for my 4 yr old to feel uncomfortable. He accused me of leaving too much food and asking for a check in advance to get around their policy. We left a plate of scallop rolls because they were dry and disgusting. I'm not going to eat your crappy food just because of your policy. I had no problem being charged for it. I put my kid in the car and went back so he could charge me for my leftovers but he said he didn't want my money and was rude and dismissive. Didn't even apologize for his behavior even after I told him he made my kid uncomfortable. I would've been fine with him explaining their policy and charging me for it like a normal restaurant worker would. Came in today for AYCE, we ordered six roles for our second round (3 eating AYCE) the owner walked over and made a comment about if we were going to be able to eat everything...thought it was a little rude, like she was micro managing us. She then sat at the bar and kept looking over at our table...was she scared my four year old was gonna take a scrap of food from the AYCE plates.!?
