The food was ono. Order the Gina's special which came with 4 sides. All the meat was excellent... short ribs, teriyaki chicken, Bulgogi beef and you got to pick your 4 sides. Omg the kimchi was soooo good. This one plate can feed 2 people. Look at my picture. The staff was super nice

I've been hearing about Gina's Kapolei for a while and finally decided to give it a try. When we first walked in, there was a noticeable foul, almost sewage-like smell, which was honestly off-putting. Thankfully, it gradually dissipated while we waited for our food. Food: 4/5 We ordered Gina's Special, mini chicken katsu, and a combo plate with fish jun, meat jun, and spicy pork. Everything came out well-prepared and flavorful. The highlight was being able to combine the meat jun, fish jun, and spicy pork into one plate--shoutout to the cashier for suggesting that, because it made trying everything much easier. Overall, despite the rough first impression, the food delivered. I'd come back to explore more of the menu and hopefully have a better experience from the moment we walk in.

First time coming here. Let me say we were totally surprised. From the start when they started putting the sides we were shocked at how much they were giving. And while waiting for our plate, just watching other plates passing through the window we couldn't believe how massive the food was piled up. The people there were so friendly too. We came in around 10 minutes before closing and we asked if we could sit to eat and they said YES of course. And while waiting a customer sitting next to me said that Gina's got her hooked on to their Fish Jun and Meat Jun Combo Plate. We definitely have to come back to try that plate. We'll be back for sure!!! This is going to be our favorite Korean go to .

In the area and decided to try Gina's out for the first time. Similar to many Korean bbq restaurants, they have many options from bbq chicken, meatjun, and katsu to name a few popular dishes. They also do cater with multiple pan sizes. It was about 4 pm and the afterwork/before dinner rush was in full effect! Orders after orders. We decided to go with their fried chicken plate; Gina's special and a spicy bbq chicken. Haven't had a spicy bbq chicken so i was excited to give it a try. As we waited, we watched many others behind us get their choice of sides and orders out and was wondering if they missed our order. Unfortunately, our order was not printed. The tall gentlemen helping out in the back immediately apologized and put our order first in line and within a few minutes, we got our order. He then apologized again and loaded our plates. The mini looked like a large and the regular plate looked XL. They have a lot of side dishes to choose from. Our favorites are the choy sum, bean spouts and cuttlefish. Now for the food, it was AMAZING. The spicy bbq chicken is a must try! Not to spicy but has enough of a kick. You can't even go wrong with their regular bbq chicken. The Gina's special is completely loaded with chicken, beef and kalbi. I also enjoyed their fried chicken and may have to get that as a side as we had way too much rice and vegetables that we had to save some for later. Overall, the food is great! Customer service is excellence and even with the little mishap, I know the food and service makes up for it.

Gina's has great service, food, generous portions. Even though it's casual the staff are friendly and will even clean up after you if you use their cups and bowls. Mac salad doesn't use too much mayo, but my husband likes it that way and he usually doesn't eat Mac salad. I like the variety in the sides. I got the takuan and it wasn't too sweet or sour. My tempura was nice and crispy and the kalbi was a good size portion for both of us and delicious. It was so good! Next time I want to try the fried tofu...

Gina's Kapolei our go to restaurant for top notch Korean food. Generous portions cooked to order. Using fresh locally sourced ingredients. Their side dishes are wonderful. Especially the Pickled Onions. . We had the Chicken Katsu and Meat Jun today. Both were delicious . Nice size dining room for dine in customer. Take out and delivery available. Highly recommended

This is a cool spot for Korean food, in huge quantities and a friendly atmosphere. Most of their plates consist of a protein option, some rice, and then your choice of four banchan. For meats, the kalbi is excellent. The bulgogi is odd, I would not get it. It comes in relatively thick slices and is chewy. My preferred banchan include their kimchi, mac salad (we are in Hawaii), and the leafy green vegetable. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of it, but it was fantastic, fresh and tasty. You have to try it! This place will fill you up, that's for sure. We came for a late lunch and arrived famished but left totally stuffed.

Grabbed a couple of plate lunches today from Gina's. Service is friendly and we got our food without much waiting despite the number of customers also grabbing lunch. Hubs got the Gina's Special (bulgogi, bbq chicken and Kalbi) and I got the meat Jun/bbq chicken combo. Plates were fully loaded; we both ate a lot and there was plenty left over for dinner and probably lunch tomorrow! All of the proteins and sides were flavorful and delicious. Though on the pricier side for a plate lunch, with how many servings you end up with, it's worth the cost! They're closed on Mondays, so come in and get yourself some yummy food on any of the other days of the week!

Simply delicious! My plate was so heavy! I had the 3-choice combo of Kalbi, Shrimp Tempura and Pork Katsu with mac salad, daikon, jap chae noodles and cucumber kimchee. Can't wait to go back again!

Important update: previously I mentioned how their red-colored veggie sides like kimchi, pickled daikon etc. was something I would avoid.... Now I loooovveee their kimchi! I think they changed the recipe because the taste had much more umami and depth, and so was their pickled daikon! This time I tried their hot wings and I wasn't a fan of the taste and they weren't spicy at all. I think next time I would stick with the regular wings. Also previously, the water from their water fountain tasted a bit weird. This time I went, it's perfectly fine! The staff were friendly as usual. Always willing to help. I do think the bathroom could be a little better though. It's interesting how we live in town but totally prefer this Gina's over the one in Kapahulu! It's always our go to spot when we're on the west side.

Everyone was so nice and helpful with navigating the menu, let us try samples of the food we had never tried before, serving sizes were generous, came out hot, fresh and delicious. We ordered the combo with BBQ chicken and Beef Jun which was plenty of food for 2 people. Veggie bar had several options.

Decided to pick up lunch for me and my Dad. I figured for couple extra dollars, I would get the mini Family pack. Then, he could have all the different choices of meat and have leftovers. My blind butt thought it said feeds 2-5 but it says 2-3. Anyways I'm glad I didn't go back in to ask where the rest of the rice was. Lol but it didn't look like 5 scoops of rice. I'll just give you a suggestion. I think this has enough protein for 3-5 people if a couple of them are children. Just gotta make extra rice at home and maybe buy more veggies. Main dish wise we had leftovers for both of us. This was definitely worth the money but it would be realistically it needs more rice and more than 1 meat Jun sauce. Meat Jun is very simple. It doesn't taste marinated, so you need the dipping sauce. Everything else is overly marinated but that's how they have always been and some people like it that way. Veggies was on point. It was super crunchy and fresh. Food storage is clean because we all know Korean places where the banchan taste like a stale plastic bin. Staff is friendly and it's clean. That's always a plus in my book.

Sisters Gina Song and Yong Hae Han opened Gina's Barbecue in the Market City Shopping Center in Kaimuki in 1991, with the restaurant becoming very popular over the years serving Korean comfort food. Yong Hae's son, Sang Han, aka Han, wanted to open a similar restaurant on the west side of Oahu in Kapolei to introduce the delicious flavors of his mom's Market City restaurant. Mom Gina Song decided to help her son open his restaurant and sold her restaurant in Market City. Thus, Gina's Kapolei opened at the Kapolei Village Center in June 2022. I should mention that since I live on the east side, Gina's Barbecue in Market City was my go-to for Korean food, as well as for many University of HI students that lived nearby the campus, as the food was always delicious and flavorful. But when it was sold, it kept its same restaurant name, but the quality of the food drastically changed with the new owner. What happened, Gina's Barbecue? Sadly, I no longer have a favorite Korean comfort food place. All this time, I was thinking that the flavorful tastes of Korean food that I enjoyed so much is now in Kapolei. Gina's Kapolei offers the following Korean comfort foods: * Plate lunches. Kalbi, bulgogi, chicken, pork, hamburger steak, shrimp, meat jun, fish, mandu, oyster, unagi. Mini plates come with 2 scoops rice & choice of 2 banchan, and regular plates come with 3 scoops rice and choice of 4 banchan. You can also make your own combos. Family packs are also available. * Soup & Noodles: ginseng chicken, kimchee, seaweed, mandu, mandu kook su. * Others: bibimbap, kimchee fried rice, kimchee bibim kook su. They also provide catering for birthday celebrations, wedding receptions, picnics, and other gatherings. I had just happened to be on the west side and thought that this would be an opportune time to visit Gina's Kapolei. I ordered the kalbi and meat jun combo for takeout, knowing that combos were meant for sharing. I chose 5 banchan of shoyu potato, taegu, kimchee, and chop chae 2x with no rice. With the long drive home, the sweet aroma of the plate lunch got stronger as I got closer to home, as it brought back memories of the delicious food that I had missed at Gina's. After I arrived home and ripping the combo plant lunch open, I devoured the kalbi, meat jun, and banchan. The kalbi was excellent, marinated perfectly, tender, juicy, and charred right with a smoky flavor. The meat jun was tender, soft, fluffy, with a slight crisp of the egg batter on the outside. The shoyu potato was nicely marinated; the taegu, which is a rarity in Korean takeouts these days, was sweet and spicy; the kimchee had the right amount of heat; and the chop chae was fresh, the right texture, and flavorful. A nice touch was placing a foil to separate the banchan from the meats. The takeout container was very heavy, as portions were so generous and made for several meals. And still at reasonable prices. Everything was very delish and on point! Customer service is excellent! Sang and his family are hands-on, working hard in the kitchen and at the front counter to ensure that you are a satisfied customer. They are efficient, well trained, knowledgeable, and personable. After my order was ready, staff was nice enough to ask me if I wanted my kalbi cut. Sang was aware of our situation with the Gina's at Market City, and thanked us for coming all the way from HI Kai to patronize them. The restaurant is bright, clean, and spacious. There are 7 booths situated around the perimeter of the restaurant. When we were there about 2p Sunday, it was busy, with all booths taken. Ordering was simple. There are large screen monitors with the menu posted from the ceiling or use the printed menus at the order counter that is located as soon as you enter the front entrance. Staff will assist you if you're undecided on what to order. Once you order and pay, step around the corner to order your banchan, then wait for your order, as staff is cooking it to order and will call you when it is done. Hours of operation are: Tues to Sat 10a to 8p, Sun 10a to 6p, Mon closed. Located in the Kapolei Village Center that is anchored by Foodland and near Paco's Tacos, there is free parking in the private lot that is shared with other businesses; however, spaces may be hard to find during peak dining hours due to other restaurants located nearby. It's times like this that I wished that I lived in Kapolei, but for now, I will have to settle for special times when visiting Kapolei! So glad that the Kapolei community has welcomed Sang Han's family for delicious Korean comfort cuisine! Wishing Sang Han and his family many more years of success in this venture. Support local!

Great bang for your buck. We got the mini family pack and a 3-way combo with kalbi (the reason for a star knocked down - too chewy/stringy compared to most), spicy pork and (4) tempura shrimp and it fed 5 adults and an 8yo boy with leftovers. Solid banchan - kimchi not too salty, glass noodles on point, tasty ong choi, sesame flavored sprouts etc. Our to go took a little longer than the quoted 15 minutes but worth it. Pleasant service a plus. read more

Flavors are pretty good as well as the side dishes, however the meats were a bit dry and overcooked. I got the three choices plate with meat bun, kalbi, and fish Jun. They packed the plate full and there were also 2 mandoo inside which was nice. Friendly staff, decent food, good portions, just wish the food was a tad better/more quality. read more

Second time I've tried the food here. Both times the food was excellent. Last time I got the Unagi, Gina's Special, side fried oysters and side fried seaweed. This time I got the Unagi (dad likes it cause it's the whole piece and not cut up into small bits), Bibim Kook Su and side mini shrimp cakes. The Bibim Kook Su is one of the best I've had in a long time. From other places it doesn't have much taste (only spicy) here it has a good taste, not just spicy. The shrimp cakes are sooo good too (actually everything I've had so far is tasty and good). The food might seem to be on the expensive side, but for the amount and quality (taste), it is worth it. The food is very tasty and they give a lot of food. I've eaten Korean foods a lot and have tried many places, but by far this place is one of the best. I live in Mililani and will drive to Gina's (Kapolei) just to get my Korean food fix. This is my new go to place. Workers/owners are very friendly and helpful. Even though it was very busy they were efficient and got the food out in a timely manner for being short handed (one cook and two people out front). read more

This place has one of the best Korean foods around. If you like Gina's market city you must must come here to the Kapolei one. Their plate lunch is seriously delicious especially the spicy pork. Their ban chan veggies are so good especially their pickled onions which I cannot get enough of. The owners of the place are very nice and I come here and they always recognize me. Their servers are also nice. read more

You can't find good Korean food in Texas but in Kapolei, Gina's is the place to go. It brought me to my happy place again! From meat jun, kal bi, man du, and all the delcious sides-damn good! The staff were friendly and service was great. It was spacious and relaxing to enjoy your meal in a relaxing environment. I'm definitely will be returning back on my next visit in 2025! read more

Awesome place for Korean food. This is my new favorite Korean place to eat on the west side. There are lots of choices on the menu, and prices are at the normal Hawaii prices for a plate lunch. Clean restaurant, friendly staff, great choices of side vegetables. And the owner is always there cooking and he always greets us when we arrive bc we eat there once a week. read more

My wife and I seeked out this restaurant based on its good reviews. At the counter, we found the staff to be friendly and engaging. On the recommendation of the young lady taking our order, we ordered the three entree combo with Korean garlic chicken, BBQ spicy chicken, and Kalbi. Our sides were soy potatoes, choysum, mac salad, and cucumber kimchee. OMG! Everything was fantastic. The garlic chicken is to die for! The owner came over to our table, and we had a very nice chat. Mom was in the kitchen. This is a new go-to eatery when we are in Oahu. I highly recommend Gina's! read more

I love the food here, but I'm still waiting for a call back from the manager to discuss what can be done because they forgot my plate in my BiteSquad order last month. I was pretty bummed as I was looking forward to spicy pork and meat jun but instead had to reluctantly share food from the rest of my family's plates. It was too late to order again and no other Korean restaurants were open. This happened on 1/31 and I was assured someone would call me back. read more

Finally, I got to try Gina's, and what a way to satisfy my cravings by ordering their Meat Jun plate. Lets start with the portions, great overall even though I thought the amount of meat jun they gave was kinda not what I expected. But as I kept eating I kept getting full. I mean the side dishes make it more easier for me to stay full. Which I gotta say is really good as well. The kimchi is so spot on, with the right amount of taste. The japchae noodles are good as well. Now, right on to the meat jun. It was thin, which was not what I was expecting, judging by past review photos. I gotta say though the batter felt like it was over powering the meat and the meat didn't give that taste I wanted, which is why its best to eat it with the meat jun sauce. I feel like they made the meat jun that way so that its not just the meat jun you have to experience eating but its the sauce as well. The sauce is tangy with a nice vinegary taste. Which is a very good reason why it goes so well with the meat jun. Very nice service and pleasant atmosphere. I recommend coming here for a good hearty meal. read more

We got off the plane and were starving! We came across Gina's and decided to try it and it did not disappoint at all. This place opened up on June 1st located where teddys Kapolei used to be. Staff is friendly & give great customer service. Restaurant is clean and has a lot of space. The pricing is affordable. This is my second time being here, after the first time I was like omg wow I gatta come back. We came here Friday My boyfriend and I wanted to try this place, they gave us FREE medium drinks as their promotion for their grand opening, so free drinks until June 15th. The first time I forgot to take my picture but I order bulgogi & meat juhn, my Otherhalf had their k- fried chicken. BOTH ARE SO ONO AND DELICIOUS!!!!! Their meat juhn I believe is like soaked with something cooked, sweet, and no extra egg which I love it's better then soons tbh, comes with a sweet red sauce which is fricken ONO ! Ordered the meat Jun regular plate for $13.99. Location good, parking good, employees were super friendly and my meat jun was delicious! The only thing on my plate that was a miss was the mac salad. Stoked Gina's BBQ finally opened up a restaurant in Kapolei! We've been to their Honolulu location several times and always enjoyed the consistency in their ono Korean plate lunch selection. We tried their Family Meal (feeds 4-6 at $69) this time and will definitely order again; not only was the food delicious but the portion, meat assortment and choice of 5 sides was worth the price. They're in a great location with lots of parking, the restaurant was clean with dine-in and outdoor seating. I swung by Gina's Kapolei just about 15-20 minutes before closing time, looking for a quick dinner to take home. Even though I showed up close to closing time, the service was still friendly and attentive. The staff made sure I got everything I needed and gave recommendations when I was deciding what to order. Gina's in Kapolei is a total gem! Nestled in the cozy corner where Teddy's Bigger Burgers once stood, this spot has become our absolute go-to for Korean BBQ. The service? Always on point with friendly smiles and the owner is just the kind of down-to-earth, family oriented person that makes you feel right at home. We went for the meat jun plates (our fave!) and couldn't resist the perfectly crispy fried mandoo.... And let me tell you, the veggies here? Always fresh and yummers! It's like a rainbow of deliciousness on your plate. Now, while tonight we noticed a bit of a horrid off smell near the front trash can, (which is definitely not the norm), it's a small hiccup for a place that's usually on top of its game. A little TLC on that front and it'll be back to its usual glory. Even with that, I'd absolutely recommend Gina's! If you love friendly vibes, delicious BBQ and a laid back atmosphere, this is the place for you! read more

I just had the best experience at Gina's Korean BBQ and had to share! We ordered the Korean garlic chicken, chicken katsu, and bibimbap--and every single dish was amazingly fresh and full of flavor. The garlic chicken was especially incredible--perfectly cooked and so satisfying. What really stood out, though, was the people. Everyone was so kind, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. It truly felt like a family-run business where they care about both the food and their customers. If you're in Kapolei and craving Korean food, this spot is a must-try. Gina's is a place to go to for excellent Korean food. We have been a regular customer when they were in Market City. We are happy for the family moving to be closer to their family and yet sad because we miss visiting the family, Gina and her sister. The new Gina's is spacious and inviting. Food is still the best.
