This place served up some amazing food and excellent customer service. What we ate: Steamed Pork Buns- Steamed bun Stuffed with diced B.B.Q. pork - soo good! Minced Chicken Lettuce Cups - Sautéed minced chicken and vegetables served with lettuce cups - pretty good, they make these with small pieces of mushrooms but will happily omit them if you are allergic to them. The warm minced chicken and the cold lettuce made a tasty bite! Pineapple Fried Rice - Sautéed shrimp, calamari, chicken, peas, carrots, cashew nuts, egg, pineapple, and rice - portion is pretty huge and is enough to share for 2. There is a slight hint of a spice at the end of each bite, pretty darn good! Pad Thai - Stir-fried shrimp, chicken, egg, cabbage, bean sprouts, scallions, and rice noodles topped with peanuts - once again the portion was large and enough to share for 2. The noodles were cooked well and the flavors were not like the typical pad thai, this was fusion for sure but super yummy! The ambience is warm and laid back, the service is attentive without being obtrusive. I would come back here to try more of their dishes. read more

Oh my god the vegetarian tofu dish is SO good here! And the portions are huge. My sister and I came across this cafe while doing some shopping at the Gilroy outlets. We weren't expecting much but the food and service exceeded our expectations. The interior is lovely and not something you'd expect in the area. What I love about this restaurant is that they have dim sum all day!! We ordered the custard buns, the tofu in spicy sauce, and a wonton soup. The dim sum is soooo cute I didn't want to eat it. Our custard bun was ooey and gooey on the inside and not dry at all. The tofu was definitely the highlight. I got my tofu with a side of fried rice. I would definitely recommend getting a side of fried rice instead of plain white rice because it was surprisingly flavorful! My sister actually enjoyed my dish more than hers! We came during lunch so it also came with soup. Only thing I have to complain is that the soup had what looked like meat in it (I'm not sure). Thank goodness I didn't feel like eating soup so I gave it to my sister! The service here is great. Our server was very nice and attentive. She always checked up on us and made sure that we had water. My sister felt her wontons needed sauce so I had asked for extra of the sauce that came with the tofu. I was expecting a little container of sauce but she came out with a bowl of it! I'm not really sure why many have criticized this restaurant for being expensive??? We ordered three things and it came out to be about $27. Pretty affordable if you ask me! I would definitely come back again when I'm in the area. After a day at the Garlic festival and a brief run through Chico's, we had dinner at this location. (We bought 40# of fresh garlic and didn't sample everything for sale at $8 and up a bite in case you are wondering) It was very clean, dark and modern but in a deep contrast for the more artistic decor with Buddas of the Sunnyvale location. The place was empty except for our table and another family who also were seated in the front. While some Yelpers don't like this....at least you could see the food by the windows. The actual back dining room is DARK. We had the Mu Shu chicken wrap, won ton soup, iced tea, chicken chow mein for me and pineapple fried rice for my husband. The entree servings were enough for six so we took them home. The noodles were like spaghetti so if you grew up on canned La Choy and crisp noodles you better order something else. Although the restaurant is much nicer than a Panda Express - it certainly isn't a corporate PF Chang although they charge enough for Ruth Chris. I rated this location only 2 stars. read more

The dim sum is less than authentic, flavorless, overly steamed (stuck way too much to the paper) and bland. The pan fried noodles was a little more decent with a little more flavor and less salty tasting. Then the gai lan with Chinese sausage, not worth it. The sausage makes the dish overwhelming salty, the vegetable had a good crunch with a slight bitter taste but not worth it or recommended. The staff was friendly and the service was fast. I guess this place is better off for those who are not used to the real taste of dim sum and Chinese cuisine. The food is too Americanized, mediocre and SALTY!!! Craving Dim Sum today and with limited options, we decided to give Ginger Cafe a try. We ordered via a food delivery service and our food was well prepared, nicely packaged and most importantly, the order was accurate. We tried a variety of dishes, including a few dim sum dishes, and they were pretty good. The dim sum dumplings were tasty and well prepared. My chicken fried rice, which is one of my favorite fried rice dishes, was unfortunately pretty bland...better than too salty I guess. Prices were fairly expensive but to satisfy a craving and limited options in Gilroy, you just gotta roll with it! We would order from this restaurant again. read more

Fast and friendly service plus great food, what more can you ask for? It's conveniently located across the outlet stores. Their garlic noodles is the best! The lamb was a bit too peppery for my taste but I'm sure it's good for others, like my husband :) he loves it! The price is quite reasonable. read more

To quote yelp, "Eek! Me thinks not!" This place is a horrible mess. When they brought the soup I knew we were done. It had chunks of some meat in it and after a bite it was still indistinguishable. There was three of us dining and all three of us took about 5 bites from our plates and quit. We waited for the check and when we told them it was unsatisfactory the waitress replied, "It's not for everyone." REALLY!?! That is your response when told your meal is less than sub par? I ordered the mango chicken. The mango was slimey and incredibly mushy. The chicken was also slimey and mildy chewy. Just thinking about it now makes me feel sick. Eventually management did drop the total owed but it was a giant swing and miss when traveling and trying to hit something other than in n out or fresh choice. I've been to Ginger Cafe twice now and I've really enjoyed my meal both times. First time I went I ordered my vegan friends favorite meal here, the tofu with mandarin sauce and I loved it! This second time around I ordered the dim sum sampler and also loved it! This was my first time trying dim sum so I liked how they had a sampler option. Our food came out fast both times. So, this place as been on my bookmark for years, I finally got here after doing the walking tour of the Gilroy Premium Outlets. I ordered the Pad Thai, it was very tasty and full of crushed nuts and veges (just the way I like it. Note; this was large enough for two people, so prepare accordingly. I also ordered a Chinese Sausage and Jicama Fresh Roll (note: it was a huge roll). They have Dim Sum on the menu and I think I have to come back for that. It was super sweet and he had to cut it with half water. Abalone dumpling was gross. The skin was thick. The shrimp filling tasted fake. The crab rangoon was greasy and not really my style. The dipping sauce was nice, though. The other two dishes were unmemorable. In general, I was underwhelmed by the food for its price. Service was lacking. The waitress didn't even give us happy hour menus until we asked. We weren't visited very often, so my water glass that I put at the end of the table stayed empty. No one came to pick up the credit card, so I went up to the bartender in the front to take care of it. I stood around awkwardly while he slowly processed it, and then got back to the table and found that he had automatically processed it with 0 tip so we had to leave extra cash. Unimpressed. The decor is fancy (I guess that's what justifies the prices), but the bathroom is kind of gross, like it was excluded from the remodel. It also smells like fish. We ordered 4 dishes and the total was over $30 after tax and tip. For DIM SUM, not a full meal. Wouldn't come back. read more

We were driving home from out of town. Decided to get it our favorite dish mango chicken. My kids love it. we picked up our order and brought it home to San Jose we were extremely disappointed they had given me the wrong order. My kids could not eat it. The order they given me was very spicy totally the wrong order. I called the manager there and he was no help at all. He told me to go to another location and try to talk to a manager there. I thought that was very odd being that we purchased the food in Gilroy fair warning don't order on the phone. Great dining option near the Gilroy Premium Outlets. I visited the Gilroy Premium Outlets to do some Memorial Weekend shopping and by the time I was done, it was already 8:30 pm. We were a party of three and decided to try out this place since it's so close by. There were plenty of parking spaces available nearby and we were promptly seated upon entering the restaurant. The place looks quite decent and there were tables available even on Memorial day during dinner time. We ordered Dim sum sampler as appetizer and chicken pad Thai, Kung Pao chicken, egg fried rice and chili chicken for entrees. The appetizer arrived around 10 minutes later and was a real treat. The sampler is essentially 5 different pieces of dim sums with 2 pieces each, making a total of 10 pieces (photo attached) - one veg, two chicken, one pork and one shrimp. All the pieces were quite delicious and this was a quite innovative dish to try out in a restaurant instead of trying out 6-8 pieces of the same dim sum. The entrees came soon after and were quite delectable. The chicken pad Thai and the Kung Pao chicken were particularly great and tasteful (I would definitely pick the Kung Pao among one of the best I had tasted). The egg fried rice was also good and was quite plentiful in amount. There was a small issue in our dining experience which was more due to our ignorance and wrong expectations rather than the restaurant's fault. My habitual experience with chili chicken is from the point of Indo-Chinese palate (think Inchins bamboo garden type) which has quite a lot of gravy and tastes quite flavorful and spicy instead of just being hot in taste. In contrast, Chinese cuisines cook chili chicken with minimal gravy along with a sweetish taste of the fried chicken with the option of just making it hot for the sake of spice. We called the manager to discuss this and tried to sort this out, but it was a wrong choice for us - so this was a little disappointing. Overall, this place is quite nice with good interior and great food and I would highly recommend people to try this one out. read more

I ordered takeout to try it out last week and tonight we dined in. The restaurant was clean and beautifully decorated. The waitress was helpful, not aggressive. And the food was really done well. The mu shu chicken appetizer is as good as mu shu gets. The Mongolian beef was one of the most delicious I've had. The chicken with vegetables and noodles was not overly oily and the flavor was superb. And the sweet and sour chicken was done crispy with a perfect amount of sauce and really great flavor. We also had the soft shell crab fresh rolls as appetizers and loved them. We live in Morgan Hill but this is my new go-to for Chinese food - I've found the ones in my city to be just meh. read more

Service was painfully slow, and the young staff lacked basic customer service basics. The iced coffee was awful, overly sweet, and tiny for nearly five bucks. The shaved iced red bean was equally bad. Aside from the drinks and service I will admit the dim sum was decent and the spicy coconut soup was delicious. Came here for lunch today after passing it everyday for 6 months. Several of my co-workers said it was pretty good so I thought "what the heck". I ordered "to-go" and the guy who answered the phone was very nice and took my order with ease. = 1 Star When I came to pick up my order it was ready and waiting = 1 Star The food was still hot when I got to the office = 1 Star Unfortunately the food itself was blah and had very little flavor. = -1 Star I got the lunch special of Mango chicken which came with steamed rice and soup. I also got an order of the Crab (Krab) and Cream Cheese Won tons. For lunch I thought it was kinda pricey at almost $15.00. = -1 Star. It's a little to pricey and not enough flavor for me. The food is always hot and fresh. Their meat quality never disappoints. Our favorites include the Mongolian beef, no white onion (cuz they put hella) Chili Chicken (ordered extra spicy), String Bean Chicken and their Pad Thai. It would be nice if they added more pork inside their steamed pork buns. Overall my wife and I have tried many different Chinese spots and this one is our favorite. read more

Service is nice and friendly. Kitchen is on the slow side, and there was a 4-5 minute gap between the arrival of our 2 entrees. Prices are awfully spendy for what you're getting. We had lemongrass salmon, which was a decently large piece of salmon with a fairly simple topping of a lemon grass based sauce. The salmon did not seem marinated or prepped beyond having the sauce laid on top. It would have been better had it not been overcooked dry. Our other dish was the crispy shrimp garlic noodles, which smelled tremendously of garlicky greatness but the sauce was annoyingly sweet. The coating on the deep fried shrimp was already mostly soggy by the time it arrived and I didn't get any hint of parmesan. To be fair, the flavors are interesting and different, not what you'd find in a regular non-fusion restaurant, but I think they have a ways to go with technique. read more

We live locally and have eaten here for years and the food is always very good but the service is substandard. When you have a dinner party of 9 and 7 people are finished eating before the final two dinners arrive there's a problem. On top of that one of the appetizers didn't arrive until everyone was finished eating their entrees. Instead of just saying we're sorry we messed your order up, which is understandable because mistakes happen, we get these flimsy excuses that can't pass the stink test. The two late dinners and the late appetizer should have been comped. The complimentary desert that we didn't ask for didn't cut it. You blowing us off left 9 people with negative feelings regarding your restaurant. I hope you think that's worth it. read more
