I had the Tom Yum Noodle soup for lunch the other day and it was fantastic! Fresh fish, tender-crisp vegetables, hot & spicy just to my taste, delicious broth. I was in heaven. However I'm not sure if it's because I've been so deprived here in Monterey County where I moved 2 years ago....and if there's one decent Chinese restaurant among all of 'em, that's all we got here.

    Dim Sum Sampler

Normally come here about once a year and I'm always very satisfied. This time we were able to get some of the dim sum, some seafood soup, fried rice and beef/broccoli. The food was very delicious and the portions are even better! The fried rice stood out as we got the combination and can completely eat that solo. Overall they have a great menu that everyone can find something they'll like! Recommend this place as they did a great job and service was on point! Will be back soon!

Good place to stop and eat when shopping at Gilroy outlets. The place is very spacious and clean. I got the lunch special fried tofu with egg fried rice and dinner mango chicken. The fried tofu had some sauce and was really good. The mango chicken was a bit too sweet but still good. The service was very good. I would come back again.

    Shanghai Noodle Three Delights
    Alicia B.

The restaurant was very empty. There was only one other couple here. It was very nice to have the space but makes you worry about why there aren't more people eating here. We ordered basic egg roll, the dim sum sampler, combination chow mein, and Shanghai Noodle Three delight. The egg roll came with 2 rolls. They were the perfect amount of crispy and flavor. The dim sum sampler was mostly average. The only piece we could not eat because we found it disgusting was the chicken mochi. My partner said the chow mein was something he would come back for. If that was the only thing he ate it would be 5 stars. I ate the Shanghai Noodle Three delight. It was not a delight. It advertised having items like noodles, bean sprouts, onions, chicken, egg, shrimp, and calamari. After ordering I found it is supposed to come with 3 pieces of shrimp and 3 pieces of calamari. My plate only had two pieces of calamari. At first I was disappointed there wasn't more calamari, but then I tasted it. The calamari tasted rubbery, tough, and no good flavor. When I brought the problem of only having 2 pieces of calamari and they only said it usually tastes like that and I should have gotten three pieces. (So no solution.) My advice to the restaurant, if you know the majority of your customers think the calamari is disappointing, don't serve calamari. The dish would have been much better if you put more shrimp and deleted the calamari. (Without up charging customers.) The servers were kind and friendly. It did seem weird how busy they were when there were only two tables eating at the place. We barely saw them but they did fill up our drinks before we thought to ask.

    Crispy Tofu in Mandarin Sauce

It was surprisingly good located at the Gilroy Outlets. We were hungry and wanted a nice last meal before driving home. Dim sum offered all day, menu is limited. It was more primarily dumplings and baos. Veggie dumplings: 4/5. It was hot, fresh and crispy. Pork shumai: 4/5 Vegetable Shanghai noodles: 3/5 - the noodles were too soft for my palate. Wished there was more vegetables. Flavor was lacking. Bf enjoyed it. He says 4/5 and I felt 2.5/5 so it gets a 3/5 overall. Mandarin Tofu: 4/5. We asked for extra spicy, it was okay. Flavorful, sweet, salty, it was really good. We both enjoyed it. We both wished there was more jalapeños and peppers in it, but still good. Server: 5/5. She was friendly and gave some awesome recommendations. Thank you!!!

    Chicken Pad Thai

Unfortunately, their pad Thai isn't it. I know they are a Chinese restaurant, but if it's in their menu, you assume they would know how to make it. This lack so much flavor. I was like eating wet noodles without flavor.

I was pleasantly surprised. I expect bad imitated Chinese foods that vaguely taste Asian. Given this is a touristy shopping center in a town not known for vast Chinese population. There was not one single serving staff that look like Chinese. Well well well. Not bad. Not bad at all. Don't get me wrong, it's not your authentic whatever-region Chinese cuisine. But they are quite edible. The place is clean and well decorated.

    * I have been going to Ginger Cafe for almost a decade now (since 2016) and have honestly ordered the same 2-3 dishes (pretty much always get the crispy tofu in mandarin sauce). It never disappoints to satisfy my craving and I always find myself coming back. * The staff is always respectful and kind - they even know my order every time I go in! This truly entices customers to go more often when they feel appreciated. * The ambiance/atmosphere is nice, classy, and clean. * Vegan/Vegetarian options are available. * The prices have gone up quite a bit in the years that I have been to Ginger Cafe and there is some variation in the meals prepared at times. However, they are consistent most of the time. Overall, I will always rate 5 stars because of the sentimental value despite any flaws I've encountered over the years :)

1st time trying this place. Very friendly staff, welcoming, and nice! Did not wait long. Food was delicious, flavorful, and good portion!! Definitely will return!! For being an early Saturday morning, it did seem busy!! But did not affect service time!!

My daughter and I were headed on a long Friday night road trip through traffic so we were due for dinner. We hit up the Gilroy outlets at least once a year and we usually hit up a sandwich spot. I wanted a fuller sit down meal so we turned to Yelp. I was pleasantly surprised to find this well-reviewed place near the outlets. From outside, it's non descript but once you enter, it was a chic ambiance with soft music playing. My daughter chose the crispy shrimp garlic noodles while I selected the pineapple friend rice. So much good food! Our server made sure we had lots of water refills and asked how we liked our food. This will be our go-to when we're in the area.

I drove up from Southern California and was feeling a little hungry, so I stopped at the Ginger Cafe for a light meal. The restaurant has good food, I've been here to eat many times over the years, it's near the Gilroy outlets, by the ATT store, and somewhat near the Reebok store, but a stone's throw away. You can come here for much or dinner, the food is very tasty. The wait staff were very nice, there is lots of parking. Try this restaurant out, the food will not disappoint, and the Thai-themed decor is tastefully done.

I like how the vegetables were soft but not mushy and over cooked or drenched in oil. Last night I almost ordered the tamarind baby back ribs. Since I am staying away from pork, I went with the waitress's recommendation of sizzling beef with red bell pepper. Excellent! We came here for the pad thai and it was so ordinary. I should not trust a person who doesn't like seafood. How am I going to share a meal with someone that doesn't eat fish? My whole protein diet is based on fish and red meat. You come here to drink Thai Tea with extra cream not a shot of whiskey for $6.00. It was a good business meeting but I am going to have to come back here with someone who really enjoys food. This is the second time I have gone to eat with someone who kind of ruined the experience of a new restaurant for me. It is not their fault. I had a headache and now I have a low tolerance for people who are not on the same vibe as me.

Final Thoughts: 2.50/5…read more My parents heard about this place and they wanted to try it. Definitely been a long time since we went to a buffet. This family really does not consume a lot of food, so sometimes going to a buffet really isn't the most idea when you're trying to get your moneys worth with quality and quantity. Location for here is somewhat farther than other places that we usually go to. We did finally get the opportunity for all of us to go, so it happened. Will round to be 3 star for today. Food: 1. Sushi bar (Simple sushi rolls with imitation crab, salmon, avocado, seaweed salad, ?tofu skin) Their selections of sushi are quite limited. Honestly, it felt like the same type of roll with just one item differing. Not even really sure if these are actual types of sushi rolls like at other restaurants. They did look slightly haphazardly put together, but overall rolls are fine and nicely plated on the larger plate to get. Heft fillings for most of them, which I appreciate. 2. Seafood Options (stir fried shrimp, braised mushrooms, mussels with cheese, clams) Most of these items felt like they were frozen and then reheated verses fresh. The assembly of these dishes seem simple enough, so they continuously refilled these. Some were steamed perhaps like the clams, others were baked maybe like the muscles. The texture is a lot more "rubbery" and difficult to remove the meat from the shell. Flavor was just alright for most of these options. 3. Classic food choices (fried rice, chow mein, orange chicken, honey walnut shrimp, eggrolls, broccoli beef, French fries, pizza, ribs) These are items are nostalgic for me if anything. Also feels like something I can cook from a bag or even get at Panda Express. Honey walnut shrimp was alright. It felt super rich and oily with the amount of mayonnaise. Not necessarily a complaint because I really like that dish, but I could only have a few of them. Orange chicken was also quite good and nostalgic for me. 4. Desserts (?Mousse cake, cream puffs, coconut macaron, soft serve, palmiers cookies) Honestly, I love desserts and sweets, but there was something about these items that weren't enticing at the time. Maybe because I was really full already from the other foods. The cake felt a little bit dry. Seems like something we can get in bulk somewhere and not necessarily freshly made. Soft serve was almost like this sweet water with just a bit of milk in it, which was interesting. 5. Fruits (Cantaloupe, canned lychee, oranges, pineapple) Very small selection of fruits here. Not too big of a fan of canned fruits, but it was something that they had. The cantaloupe was the only fruit that I could really "enjoy" because it was fresh and better looking than the other options. My parents liked the oranges, as well. Some nice vitamin C for them after the big meal. Labeling: Nothing Labeled None of their items are labeled, so just be sure y'all are careful of food allergies or intolerances. --------- Quality: As expected for the price Their quality is ok??? Ish??? It's what I expected for the price. A lot of the foods appear frozen and then reheated or cooked. Sushi was rolled on the spot and refilled. Some foods felt like they were just sitting there under a warmer. For the seafood, definitely felt like from the freezer and not fresh. You can see this in the clams because they were really stuck onto their shell and absolutely would not come out cleanly. Texture is a little more chewy. Price: Affordable for the Buffet If you want affordable and all you can eat, this is the place to go. One of the reasons why my parents want to go here is because of the price. This place is in Gilroy, so a little farther away from where we are, but we still wanted to try it. Prices are fully on the rise. For an adult, it will be $18.99 now. There are discounted pries for kiddos between 2 and 11 years of age. Senior citizens of age 65 and older will also get a $1 off discount. Very sweet and totally works for us. Service: Fast Not sure how crowded this place gets, but we were seated immediately after coming in. I didn't see how busy it was outside, but most, if not all of the seats were filled at one point. They took our drink order and then we were free to go get food afterwards. There's always a trash plate and they took those away pretty quicky. Ambiance: Dim lit Interior was quite dark and dim lit. The area where the foods were was really warm and this might be nicer on a cold winter day versus summer. The space actually looks quite small for something of a buffet style. Perhaps there aren't too many options, but it/s definitely a nice small buffet to go to for a change of taste once in a blue moon. Location/Parking: Spacious area This area is very spacious and located where the South Valley Plaza Shopping Center is. It is within kind of the side corner of this plaza. Highly unlikely there will be a concern with parking because of how large the area is.

I called my order in and headed on down to pick my order up. I was pleasantly greeted by Alex (not sure I spelled her name right) who told me about their cozy restaurant. I was immediately impressed by its comfortable family atmosphere without loud music interfering with conversation and the cleanliness it held. There were plenty of tables and definitely tables for 6 or more people. I decided to try their vegetarian style Hot and Sour Soup that has tofu and no pork, and their Wor Wonton soup. The hot and sour soup has a nice thick broth and holds many of the additions so you get something in every spoonful. I noticed that there were bits of herbs in some of my bites which was a pleasant change from standard hot and sour. The soup held bite sized pieces of tofu which made it easy to eat. I've tried Hot and Sour Soup many different different restaurants. This was a good version and definitely had a different flavor spin than some of the ones I tried. I would rate this dish 4 stars. It felt like it needed a tiny tweak but I wasn't exactly sure what that was. Possibly a little more tang. It still was absolutely delicious and I would recommend trying it. The second dish was Wor Wonton Soup. I noticed the wontons were much smaller than some of the other restaurants I have ordered at. The additions were also chopped and sliced in smaller pieces, which to be honest, makes it much easier to eat. One wonton fits nicely on a spoon without a ton of slurping and such. Soup can get messy when things are too big to fit in the mouth. That said it had a nice flavorful broth and held shrimp, chicken and some pieces of sliced pork with veggies like broccoli and cabbage. It was satisfying for a cold day comfort food fix. All in all the food was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their choices and I will be back. Great comfortable place, nice owners, delicious food and if you are just getting off of work and need to sit and eat before going home, you can do that comfortably here. Or, get take out. It's also very comfortable to bring a larger party. Thanks Alex for a great experience!
