This was my wife and I's favorite place to eat, but after multiple poor experiences, this most recent one left me to the point I no longer want to go. I guess when you pay cheap you get cheap. On this experience i ordered 2 chocolate chip pancakes and my whole table got their meal and ate it before I received my 2 pancakes. I waited nearly 15 minutes after my family's food came out to receive mine. There were many sincere apologies, but nothing offered in terms of a tangible apology. I ended up only eating 1 pancake anyways. This is after 3 other poor services in a row where we found hair in the food or the food being served cold. We forgave too many times and ate here too many times to keep contributing to an establishment that can't seem to get handling a basic service down. read more

We came here for a pre-Easter brunch with my kids, grandma and my brothers kids. We arrived at 9:30 and the place was PACKED!!! One downside is that there really is no place to sit or stand to be out of the other diners way while you are waiting to be seated. You feel like you are intruding upon there space while waiting for 30 + minutes to eat. Once we were seated our food and drinks came out very quickly. I ordered the biscuits & gravy with 2 over easy eggs and bacon. Everything was delish- except for the bacon. It could have been cooked about 1 more min in my opinion; otherwise everyone enjoyed their meal. When Ginger Sues gets busy it's crowded and loud, but with few breakfast spots to choose from in the area this one tends to fill up quickly!! If you recall, I wrote a review back in January of this year. I had a sub-par experience, and since I had not heard from the restaurant, I figured I'd give it another shot. Well, here's how it went. First off, please, PLEASE get some type of drapes, shades, wall hangings or something! It is way too loud in this place. Now that that's off of my chest, let's get to the food, the reason you are probably reading this review. I ordered a Ginger's Special, and my wife ordered pancakes. The only special request that I had was that everything was to be well done/crispy. Nothing worse than eggs that run away from the fork, and it's not healthy to eat runny eggs anyway, ask a doctor. So, I asked for the eggs well done and the potatoes and bacon to be crispy. Extra Crispy. As a matter of fact, my exact statement was to make them as crispy as you can without burning them. The waitress' response: "You want them to be crispy?" Seems to me that you cannot misinterpret that statement from either of us. It took a long time for us to get our food. A long time. Like 20 minutes long time. Like I watched someone else, sit down with us, get their pancakes for 6, finish said pancakes, complain that the waitress forgot to bring them their side order of meats, and leave. All before we received our food. Now, I'd bet you would say that all the food was burnt. you'd be wrong. The bacon came out white, and could easily be tied into a know, and the potatoes were just like they always come out: soggy, and mushy, all be it, hot. I got the waitress' attention and told her about the bacon, and as usual, I was told that my bacon probably got sent to another table. I doubt anyone would send back the crispy bacon, for if nothing else, they have good bacon here...when it's cooked. So, they came out with a plate to take back my bacon. The server said "put your bacon on here, I don't want to touch it", which is a sure sign, that you are NOT getting new bacon my friends. Guess what, when it came back out...still not crispy, but now totally dripping with oil. No one came to check to see if it was better, and the server was too busy that I tried to be nice and not bother her again. Not her fault as it turns out, the ticket did say crispy bacon. Alas Ginger Sues, you have good pancakes...that's the only saving grace right now. My pregnant wife is most likely going to cause me to come back here, since it's too long of a drive for a south LS resident to go all the way to westport just for pancakes. Me...I guess I'll have to settle for soggy bacon and potatoes. On the off chance someone from the restaurant ACTUALLY reads this: I'd be happy to show your cooks how to make crispy potatoes and bacon. I've done it for over 20 years. One of the best places for breakfast, brunch and lunch in eastern Jackson county. Everything is fresh prepared. Pancakes are huge and delicious. Bacon is phenomenal. Discovered this place by chance and what a treat it has been! I tried them for lunch, and had the best salad I've ever had. Their dressing is homemade, their bacon is out of this world and the service was perfect. Later that week, I took the whole family for breakfast and they don't disappoint! The full stack of pancakes where each the size of the plate, so come hungry or take home lot's of leftovers, as we ended up doing. Tried this brunch place and really enjoyed it. Everything is made from scratch and it shows. I ordered eggs benedict (it's my favorite breakfast meal so I've had it from many, many places), my husband ordered the gravy covered scramble, and then we ordered a blueberry pancake to split. Our waitress, Karen, was very nice and efficient. Even though the place was packed, our order came out quickly. I am not a "pancake person", but when they sat that blueberry beauty out with a side of berry compote, I could not keep my greedy little hands off of it. It was literally the best pancake I have ever had in my entire life, and my husband had to pour a gross amount of syrup over it to get me to stop eating it and relinquish his half... Or I wouldn't have stopped. I wasn't super stoked about the eggs benedict, but like I said, I've had it more times and from more places than I can count. It's obviously not their specialty, and I think most eggs benedict lovers would agree. However, I'm totally not even bothered because that pancake! Woke up on a Saturday wanting to try a new breakfast spot and not travel too far away from home. Thanks to Yelp, I found Ginger Sue's. I used to visit Pita Pit in this shopping center, but it has since closed. I never noticed Ginger Sue's. The place was packed. There was a short wait, probably about 20 mins. If you have a party larger than 2, you'll probably have to wait a little longer because we got a seat before some parties that were there before us. Whenever there's a wait I always look at the other restaurant goers to see if they're enjoying their food. Everyone was looking mighty happy. Once we got a table, I understood why. Our server was really nice and attentive. From my seat I could see into the kitchen, it appeared clean and efficient. My favorite was the maple bacon, it was so tasty. I also ordered french toast, which was two long slices of french bread with warm maple syrup. Everything was delicious. I will definitely return. read more

Review on Lees Summit location. This is our favorite breakfast place to go to as a family! I love their eggs benedict and my daughter does the hangry happy dance over the chocolate chip pancakes. I know this may seem ordinary. What kid doesn't love chocolate chip pancakes?? Trust me when I say that my 6 y/o doesn't like all chocolate chip pancakes and Ginger Sues is her favorite. And their bacon is AMAZING!!!!!!! It's a bit loud but that's an issue for us. We are a family of four so we need a loud restaurant. Given my frustrating experience I posted on their FB wall (see below, without any response from management), I felt pressed to supplement my 5 star review. As a regular I was really disappointed by my recent GS experience. Ordered a black bean burger from your menu that simply said what came on and with it. Yet, when the patty arrived it was nothing but a raw bean dip mixture. Having not tasted anything, I returned it, where the manager said I still had to pay since it was "clearly" stated on the menu--otherwise GS wouldn't make any money. (And yeah, you're right. You wouldn't make money if you had to refund/swap food items, which is why you should "clearly" state them on your menu.) Since I'm not one to make a scene, my bf and I just paid and left. Anyway, as a result, your immaculate joint has been tainted. Then again, your lunch menu is pretty hit/miss, so maybe that's my fault. Again, really disappointed. We wanted to try a new place for breakfast and Ginger Sue's was AMAZING! We will absolutely go back (again and again). The food is very good. My son had a pancake bigger than his head. My hubs opted for blueberry pancakes with compote. They were fabulous with FRESH blueberries mixed into the batter. I had the breakfast burrito which was just as good. It was served with breakfast potatoes which were skin-on roasted goodness. And my cafe mocha was great. The entire place was very clean. In fact I was impressed with how clean the restrooms were. And the prices were super reasonable. In fact we spent less than we would spend at our "normal" breakfast place. The service was quick and friendly. In fact, they accidentally made my son's pancake with chocolate chips and brought us a plain one very quickly even though we were fine with the error. This place is just average. I have had both good and bad food and service here, Cold eggs, barley toasted toast. The menu prices are a bit on the high side. The trouble I have with the place is that if you do have a problem, cold eggs, soggy bacon, smelly immitattion crab meat, and you tell them, the MANAGER, they act confused and bewildered that you could possibly have a problem, They grudgingly address it and make it seem like they are doing you a favor, Forget say picking up your tab, saying sorry or some other customer service jester. It is hard for me to patronize a place that has Management and ownership they acts like you are lucky to be eating in their restaurant and has NO IDEA how to respond to complaints and problems that can occur at any place. HORRIBLE. It took an hour to get our food. When we did get it we couldn't eat because we had no silverware and none to be found bu our server. Some of our food was incorrect, one pancake oozed batter when we cut into it, one was so over cooked it was tough and one meal had cold ham and eggs in it. A manager brought food back over, never apologized or asked how she could make the experience better. One of our checks was double charged for food which we didn't receive. We had to get it corrected. As I was leaving I talked to a manager and let her know how horrible our experience was. She apologized but blamed changing staff around for our poor experience. She asked if we had been there before and I told her we had. She never asked how she could get is to return or could've made the experience better. She didn't comp a single incorrect, undercooked or raw item off of our bill. If we go back. It will be a very, very long time. But we have so many other good breakfast places in LS, this will most likely be last on our list. read more

We like Ginger Sue's and regularly frequent this establishment. I typically order their omelettes which are tasty and a decent portion. I don't love that some of the fruit in the fruit cup is obviously frozen. I also feel the food quality could be better. A really small place tucked into the back of a strip shopping center. We actually sat at the coffee bar so that we could eat right away and get back on the road home. The food was really well seasoned and plentiful. My only complaint was the bacon. While it was thick cut and oven baked, it was slathered with a maple pepper glaze that was so overwhelming that I could not eat it and my hubby even declined. They should be more specific on the menu about the flavor other than "house seasoned". Everyone was extremely friendly and attentive. I do recommend trying it, but I prefer Big Biscuit. read more

I recently went to Ginger Sues for my first time because my co workers talked so highly of it. The wait was only about 15 minutes which wasn't bad at all. I was surprised at how boring the decor and tables are. Everything looks the same and it very cheap. My waitress was awesome, but the food was mediocre. I got biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon and eggs. Everything had a ton of pepper on it and nothing was super hot. It was also very obvious that the front end staff is very young and inexperienced. Many of them were very awkward and lost. I don't know if I'll be returning. read more
