My first visit and I am already a fan. We started out for Bob Evans, which we enjoy on occasion. They however seemed incredibly busy with a long wait, so we decided to check out Yelp for some other options. I suggested Waffle house, but Tony R. really wanted some French Toast, so he looked for other options. Ginger Sue's was the name he called, and off we went! There was a crowd of folks waiting at Ginger Sues, however the wait was only 15 minutes. Sure enough in just about 15 minutes the server ushered us to our seat. The menu is straightforward with all of the things you expect from a breakfast spot. We were seated near the kitchen window, and I would like to mention that their efficiency was refreshing. We were greeted by a very delightful waitress, who had a great personality. She answered our questions, and kept our coffee cups full. While all of the standards were present on the menu, there was nothing standard about this food. I had a standard breakfast, the Classic I believe. 2 eggs, breakfast potatoes, bacon, sausage, and biscuit. Tony R. Ordered the Classic also with bacon, and an order of french toast. I will start with the french toast...I have never seen it done quite like this, it was a beautiful braided sourdough type bread, delicious! The bacon seemed to be coated by a brush in some type of syrup that gave it an excellent sweet and savory flavor. Everything was delicious, but those two were my favorites. I'm not impressed. The mocha was great. They put way to much seasoning on everything. They over seasoned the bacon. How can you mess up bacon? It needs no help to be awesome. If you don't like Oregano then don't come here. It on everything. read more

The food is good, there is no getting around that. So the next complaints are minor but keep it from 5 stars. With a name like Ginger Sue's I was expecting muffins, cinnamon rolls, and other breakfast baked goods, but there were not anything (unless you counts pancakes, waffles, and french toast, but I don't). They eggs were really good, so again no complaints about what was on the menu. Also it is very noisy. It is one big open room with no sound dampening. So everything echoed and it was hard to hear the people at my own table. Speaking of it being a big open room, there is no decor. Just tan walls, blank tables, and wooden chairs, it could use some spurring up. Again, with a name like Ginger Sue's I was sort of expecting maybe a rustic or country look. But nothing, just chairs and tables. The wait staff was polite and quick, they kept my coffee full. No complaints about the service outside of I couldn't tell who worked there because there was no uniform. I didn't notice anyone inappropriately dressed, but coupled with the lack of decor and no dress code, it seems lacking. Also I went on Mother's Day, and there was a 20 minute wait, which was fine. I kind of expect that sort of wait for a Mother's Day breakfast. But when we got a table I notice there were a lot of empty tables which suggested they were understaffed for Mother's Day. And I can't help but think there wouldn't have been any wait if they were fully staffed. And I did over hear other customers complaining about that. Went there on a Sat almost noon. It was REALLY LOUD in there. Could barely here the person I was with right across the table. Like my head was starting to hurt loud. I've never been in a restaurant so friggin loud. It's probably cause there's nothing on the walls, no curtains, nothing. Just cheap chairs and tables. This place is bare bones. Had an omelette and French roast. Decided to pass on the $5 smoothie and just went with water. The food was ok, but the omelette was kinda skimpy. I wasn't impressed. There's better choices for breakfast. I hate to say it but IHop is better. You get more for your hard earned money. And more choices too. The Big Biscuit is also really good. It pains me to give 2 stars to Ginger Sue's, as cute as the Liberty location looks, right off the historic square. But I haven't been to that one. A friend and I were hungry in Lee's Summit one Saturday and gave this one a try. The food was good. I got a salad with grilled salmon; the salmon was moist and well seasoned, with a nice vinaigrette dressing. I tried a piece of my friend's fried fish, and it was crispy on the outside and tender-flaky on the inside. But the NOISE! The place was packed, and I don't think there's a stitch of fabric or carpet in the place to absorb the sound. And can we put the blender in the back, out of the dining room, please? Their smoothies must be really good, because that blender ran almost non-stop the whole time we were there, making it almost impossible to hold a conversation. If you're looking for great food, great service, and social distancing, this is the perfect breakfast spot! We tried this restaurant for breakfast this morning and had a fantastic experience! The waitress, Lameeka, was not only friendly and welcoming, but also attentive and on top of everything! The food was delicious! My friend and I came for brunch. The restaurant itself is very cookie-cutter, not decorated and very simple in design. The food is nothing like the restaurant! We both ordered the crab meat eggs benedict and a side of one pancake, because YES you can order ONE pancake! I love my salty with my sweet so that was a perfect pairing! Been there twice. First time was me and wifey. Food was good 5 stars. Decided to take our kids this time. My son did not like the chocolate pancakes and management wouldn't switch for something else. So beware if you don't like the food you cannot return for something else. Kids are tough to satisfy , but this is the only place you cannot return food If you aren't satisfied. I have loved coming here for breakfast and decided on a whim to try it on a weekday morning. I was splurging and got biscuits and gravy. The dish arrived lukewarm at best but I didn't send it back because the side links were warm and tasty. The gravy was just ok. I probably should have asked for it to be reheated. This is our GO TO Breakfast Restaurant! We don't live near one, but we make the trek to eat here! The food is fresh, healthy, delicious! The customer service is amazing! How do you beat this place? Biscuits & Gravy are superb, pancakes are enormous and fluffy, pretty sure the syrup is the genuine article, and the service is always spot on. Had cappuccino, B&G, short stack, and a couple eggs (didn't eat everything) for $12. I've paid double that at The Big Biscuit sadly...for far inferior fare. Was in an out on a busy Sunday around noon in less than half an hour. Perfect. read more

So this was one of our go to places for after church on Sundays. I noticed that the cleanliness and service was slipping but figured it would get straightened out. Not the case at all. Last Sunday we went and ordered our usual and were completely disappointed. There was quite a bit less food on my plate than normal, and waitress was a bit rushed. I can overlook that. But when my wife went to spread her fruit compote on her waffle, I smelled peas. At first I didn't think about it but then she started getting grossed out by the taste. She eats this twice a month. I put two and two together and told the waitress that the compote was fermented and inedible. She agreed it looked different than normal, and went to talk to manager. This place is so great! We were in town for a wedding the evening before and decided on this cute restaurant. I asked for the waitresses suggestions and she was spot on! I was a bit taken back when I walked in the place as it really had no decor to speak of & was really noisy. Luckily their food made up it. The bacon is seasoned in house & was some of the best bacon I've had. I had the salmon salad & it was a bit to much (which is better than being to small), but was very good. Everything was very good and they kept the gravy separate from the biscuit and the hollandaise sauce separate from the egg/ham/muffin as requested. All were very good and my Aunt (who hadn't been eating) actually ate because it was so good. I am very glad I wasn't eating inside though. It was so very noisy and loud from just regular noise. In a word, tasty! I met a friend here for breakfast on a Saturday, and, if this day was any indication, Ginger Sue's has definitely met a need amongst the soccer families of Lee's Summit! There was a big crowd this day, but I was seated promptly and the coffee was readily at hand. I had the Southwest Scramble Skillet, which was delicious. My friend had the West Coast omelette, and loved it as well. She did have to ask for the biscuit that was supposed to accompany her omelette, which was odd because there was a giant scoop of butter of her plate that would have served no other purpose. The dining room was brightly painted from the previous Mexican restaurant tenant, but not a lot else has been done to decorate. The service was good, other than the missing biscuit, but even it was delivered quickly. I'm happy to have this delicious breakfast option so close to home! read more

Downside to the food was that I ordered my eggs over medium and they came out so undercooked even the whites were runny. Since the meal I ordered came with a biscuit but no gravy, I asked for gravy and had to order a "side" The "side" came out in a little bitty dish and there wasn't enough to cover the biscuit. Again, food was tasty but there were some issues. Service: Our server was a very nice young lady just not particularly attentive. In a breakfast place you should never have to wait for coffee or drink refills yet our cups and glasses were empty more often than not. Atmosphere: Its a breakfast place so I didn't expect much but I also didn't expect nothing in the way of decor. It is clean and well lit but there is nothing on the walls. NOTHING! Not a single thing. Big barren walls. Maybe they have plans for some decor but right now there is nothing. Conclusion: We will go again. I'd like for it to be my new favorite place.
