We stumbled into this spot, and they cooked the pizza fresh on the spot. They only accepted cash, and thankfully one of my friends had some because I never carry cash. The pizza was piping hot. So hot that when I picked up a slice too soon, the cheese slid right off. But there was plenty to go around, and it hit the spot. The guys behind the counter were really nice, even though we walked in about 20 minutes before closing. Wow if you're looking to go elbow deep into a delicious vat of eggplant parmigiana with pasta then look no further. They have consistently had delicious pasta and excellent delivery, with the food the perfect temperature. If you have enough self restraint, the pasta dishes can be two (or more!) servings. I normally prefer home-style pizzeria pizza over corporate pizza, I.e. Papa johns, Pizza Hut, dominos, but today I wish I had Dominos because this was a waste of money and burned tongue and mouth. So, on top of artery clogging, the pizza wasn't warmed up, it was scorched up. Super hot, but I was hungry so what is one to do... Blow hot oil or drain as well as possible and consume. My hungry ass did the latter. This is nothing personal, I advised the owner "to work on it" while showing him by plate full 'o oil. Won't return or recommend. You wouldn't come from another neighborhood, just to try the pies here. You wouldn't say to your significant other, "Hey after the Brooklyn Museum, can we get Gino's?" If you're in the neighborhood however, and are looking for something to fill you up. This is a good option. I've had times where I regretted going there. Times where it hit the spot. It depends on the day there. I wouldn't try anything too fancy here. Just basic Italian American pizza options. Pizza, no crazy toppings, and maybe their chicken rolls or mozzarella sticks. I wouldn't venture into their entrees. And once again, nothing wrong with that. If you want something hip and trendy, this is not the place. Got Ginos through Seamless. I saw they had big pasta portions and I'm into that. So I ordered some penne vodka thinking It would be okay. Well it was super good! And I had so much. I've had their pizza twice. Once when they first opened and I got a slice to-go. It was mediocre at best. I was on my home from a date and the men behind the counter leered at me while I waited. It was creepy and uncomfortable. Last night I was desperate for pizza and I ordered a gramma pizzette via Seamless, and despite the fact that I live half a block away it took over 40 minutes for them to deliver. When I called to check on it, because they never confirmed via Seamless, the guy just yelled at me. When it did arrive it was gross, floppy, and raw in the middle. The crust was flat and tasted like absolutely nothing. Whatever the green crap is that they sprinkled all over the pizza also tasted like absolutely nothing as well. Willing to bet it was dried basil from 2002. Yuck. I'll stick to Franny's for now but I am on the hunt for a cheaper "take out" pizza place as well. read more

We ordered a Pizza at 7:45PM. We actually GOT our pizza at 9:30, after being told for 2 hours that it "was out and almost there". We were hung up on twice, and told to stop calling. The only reason we even got our order ( ONE pie going LITERALLY 2 blocks down the street) was because we went in ourselves. (They told us it was ready, but actually it hadn't even been made yet, TWO HOURS LATER). And the "pizza" they made us was just fucking rude. I've attached a picture. Its a fucking MESS. This place was the only place I'd go to get pizza in the area. The rating is mainly after my last two visits. I went there recently and I felt the guy had an "issue". I found the guy (younger European guy that looks fairly new) I paid was rude. The original guy that took my order was fine/normal with no issues. The other times I had no issues with the other guys. It's one guy in particular who either hates you or his job, or both. Customer service is important to me. A person doesn't need to roll out a red carpet for me but I don't want to be treated like crap either. I thought perhaps the first dealing with him, it was just a bad day. I figured I'd chance it because I really wanted pizza and I didn't see him when I entered and ordered. Same guy with the attitude came out of no where to ring my purchase, (FML)! If you really want pizza...i mean like really want pizza #desperate.... This is place is not for you! I don't care how desperate you get. This was my second try ordering from this place. Last time was less than spectacular but, again, i was desperate. Ordered the Margherita with pepperoni added to one half. What I got was a box of soggy dough, which was probably due to the nearly 3 ounces of sauce that rested on top of the pizza. I mean it looks like someone opened a jar of tomato sauce and poured it on top of an undercooked pizza. Did i mention that didn't even add the pepperoni to the pizza? When you work up the courage to pull a slice out of the box, you quickly realize you are in for a serious challenge. The "slice" of pizza i thought i was removing from this tomato soaked box deteriorated as I attempted to lift it due to the complete absence of crust (which at this point simply soaked into the cardboard box). We were on our bikes and this place has outdoor seating, perfecto! I had the regular cheese slice and it tasted like pizza, nothing extraordinary and did its job of filling me up. The slices are $2.50, standard price everywhere since it probably costs like $0.50 to make it. I shouldn't be picky, but quality is important. I mean..$2.50/slice is pretty nice, but when the crust is tough and the ingredients aren't so fresh I'm going to be a bit critical. I've paid as much for bigger slices elsewhere, where quality wasn't sacrificed. My reservations were moreso about the pepperoni/chicken slice, but I will say that their margherita slice was done nicely. Diced tomatoes and plenty of oil. Just how I like it. The location of Gino's is very accessible to my apartment and they offer some solid lunch/dinner specials, but, for the moment, I cannot speak of their other food. They also offered a rewards card system through SpotOn which is convenient for frequent customers. Perhaps I'll need to go here a little more and really let them impress me. I welcome Ginos as the best affordable pizza option in the neighborhood. It's not meant to compete with Franny's or Amorina, but for the price of a slice it beats out the other take-out pizza in the neighborhood. The guys at the counter are friendly. I have visited at lunch, dinner and in the middle of the afternoon. Each time I ask what is fresh, and their recommendations never fail me. The Lasagna slice for $3.50 is a great value. stuffed with hamburger and topped with pepperoni, a single slice is filling. That's a personal favorite, although the white pie is also quite good. I have not tried delivery yet, so I can't vouch for how the pizza travels. I recommend it for take-out when drinking at Washington Commons, or for a lunch under $5. read more

I started to avoid going in because of the leering and because I would call ahead to confirm they had a specific slice available and then arrive minutes later to find out they didn't. I have ordered the: Spaghetti & Meatballs, Ravioli, Chicken Parmesean, Chicken Caesar Salad, Grilled Chicken Salad, Cheesecake, Chocolate Mousse Cake, Mozzarella Sticks, Buffalo Wings. Overall the cooked food from Gino's is FANTASTIC. HUGE portions, reasonable prices for the amount of food you get, amazing quality, always just what you need to satisfy a craving for carbs and cheese with tomato sauce. Delivery is always fast for me, and food is always piping hot. However, I will say that the reheated/precooked/cold food is usually just ok. The mozzarella sticks I will not order again as they were cold in the middle and not worth it. The desserts are usually good, but frozen in the middle on more than one occasion. Overall, when I have a craving for no-frills, good, cheesy Italian food, this is my go-to delivery spot. read more
