The name of this place has changed over the years, but the menu seems to be about the same. It's the only "slice" option in the near vicinity. Not the best pizza by any means, but it's a solid NY slice! Crispy, a bit chewy, cheesy, a tad oily. If you prefer thin crust, this slice is for you! Came here for lunch today as I needed a quick bite and was craving some pizza. Pizza didn't look great today and wasn't as fresh as I saw it on my first visit so I decided to get a cheese steak hero. When I ordered my sandwich with the woman at the cashier, I asked for it to be plain, just steak and cheese with salt and pepper. She brings my sandwich out and it has large chopped green peppers in it. I told her I didn't order my sandwich with peppers and she apologized and said she misunderstood and the chef will make another. The chef makes another sandwich, I noticed a small onion slice in it but figured it may have been cooked next to something else with onions because I specifically told her I didn't want anything on it except salt and pepper. Ive spent close to an hour at this place to this point and I am ready to go so i pay for my food and when I open up my sandwich, it has onions all over it. Very disappointed and won't be coming here again. I would not recommend. read more

The pizza here is your basic cheese, sauce and crust. Tastes the same to me as the dollar per slice pizza but the price is two and a half bucks. The issue I have with this place isn't the pizza. It's their not using gloves or a spatula to put the slices in the oven. I placed my order and the guy literally takes a slice from the pie to the oven with a cutter and his thumb on the crust! When it was ready to take out, he removed it to a plate with his fingers. I said no thanks to that so he put a fresh slice in - WITH the spatula this time - and then put it in a to go bag the RIGHT way; no touching. When I paid, he gets my change - WITH HIS BARE HANDS from the register! Oh Lordy I was done! Bottom line - pizza making is very hands on. Fingernails and hands need to be surgically clean. I came here with my friend, my sister and my newborn daughter (She's 7 months old) First impression: It's small and dirty. The employees don't wear gloves. Barely enough space for a family (there were only three of us with a stroller). There aren't many seats so if you plan on eating in, bring something to sit on. Not even enough space for the roaches to eat. The employees: We weren't even greeted with so much as a simple "hello" They're terribly rude and not very welcoming. The reason I say this is because my daughter has an ear infection and she's in a lot of pain. She was crying while I was trying to soothe her and the owner's phone started ringing very loudly. We were the only ones in the shop and he asked us to keep it down. "Us" meaning my crying baby. How rude! He could've just went to the back to take his call bust instead. He felt that me taking my daughter outside in the cold was more appropriate. A few seconds later, he turned the radio UP blasting loud holiday music in our ears (the speaker was right above us) when my sister asked him to turn it down and he completely ignored her. 1 star for this little bug barn. I just moved in down the block, and this is the only pizza place by me. I was quite apprehensive, because I knew even if it sucked I would end up here for a slice and just be miserable. Now so far, I've only had a plain slice, but I was quite relieved. The pizza is far from a revelation, but it is more than adequate. Chewy crust, fresh tasting cheese, slightly sweet sauce. They also seem to get fairly brisk business, so the pizza is pretty fresh. Their slices with toppings seemed a little long in the tooth and I only remember seeing pepperoni, white, and some sort of pepper medley. On their take-out menu they list some heros, pastas and the like, but they have a disclaimer saying "if you don't see it on the menu, just ask for it." I didn't see eggplant pizza on the menu, but they do have an eggplant hero so my stellar deductive skills tell me that would be a reasonable request. Now my only question (if anyone reading shares my perverted pleasure please speak up and I might marry you -- or at least share a pizza with you,) will they make me a pepperoni and pineapple pie?...Don't knock it 'til you try it haters. I love pizza. I used to like King's Pizza. When they were the only pizza place in my neighborhood. Now that there is Nice Pizza on Franklin, that new wood burning oven pizza place on Fulton across from Met Food & Rocco's also on Franklin there isn't any reason to go to King's. Those other joints have great pizza. King's is just ok pizza. I order it for the kids. Whudda they know? But if I'm eating pizza, and I eat pizza a lot, I get it from one of those other three places near me. read more

Haven't seen any mentions on how awesome the Eggplant Parm hero is. It is truly awesome. The pizza is good, sometimes I wish it were a little crispier, but its fresh simple and tasty, and a great deal, 10 bucks for a cheese pie delivered. I've been enjoying King's Pizza for years from their original location on the corner to the new location across the street. I order a pie well done on Fridays when I don't feel like cooking or I stop in when craving a slice. They've been a neighborhood staple and I'm glad they haven't lost their presence with all the "newcomers" to the hood. Classic, traditional NY pizza and that's saying a lot from a New Yorker. I've never had a more unsatisfying slice of pizza in all of New York City. Jesus Crust! That was an auto correct typo but since it's funny and relevant, I'm leaving it. The plain slice has absolutely ZERO FLAVOR. None. Have they ever heard of salt, garlic and oregano? Because it tastes like their pizza sauce contains none of those spices. And, even though I asked for it CRISPY when I first ordered, the woman behind the counter left it in the oven for the normal reheating amount of time. It was still a soggy, limp noodle of a slice. I knew it would be when I first walked in; I can tell by just looking at pizza if I'm going to like it LOL. King's slices looked doughy and super soft. I took a bite of her version of crispy and had to send it back. CRISPY, DAMMIT! The crust was still as soft as the slice itself! How do you manage to have your crust be just as soft as the rest of your slice?!? Preposterous! The second time around and the crust was still soggy. I gave up and just forced myself to finish the slice. Yuck! What I will say is that they use a generous amount of mozzarella. The best amount I've had all month. And at only $2, you don't feel cheated. It's just too bad everything else about their plain slice is offensively underwhelming. How do you mess pizza up? I mean, it's possible but usually it's those $1 pizza spots that you only eat at when you're DRUNK out of your mind and they're the only thing open. I visited my sister in Brooklyn who recommended this pizza place to me and I tried it for the first time today. I definitely would not order from them again. Yelp lists their closing time as 10:30 but they actually close at 10. I called them at 9:30 and the man who answered the phone was very short with me. Also, they did not have over half the things I asked for. (They said they were out because it was almost closing time although I called 30 minutes before closing). Delivery took 20 minutes even though its located 0.3 miles away. The pizzas were lukewarm when they arrived and had to be microwaved before I could eat them. The total for 3 slices was 10 dollars...which I don't understand. The pizza was overall bland and oily and the mushroom pizza was absolutely OVERLOADED with weird looking mushrooms that I have never seen on any pizza. This two-dollar thumb-folder has the perfect proportions and the right amount of chew and crunch any slice needs to have. I really haven't branched out to the other pizza varieties they offer - just cheese please. Now normally I wouldn't put a review for a place that I just grabbed a couple slices from but this place needs to change a few things. My dad is a teacher at a nearby school and he has been coming to this place at least once a week for 10 years. Now when we arrived my dad is supposedly ask for the barbecue chicken slice. The owner of the restaurant was the one serving us he said that the pie wasn't ready he recommended that we get a different slice. We ordered for different slices and within 60 seconds of him placing the pizza in the oven a fresh pie of the barbecue chicken came out period we politely asked could we switch the two slices for my dad for those two and he denied. Now that wasn't the issue it was the things that followed that actually and the entire time we were there you could hear him sucking his teeth and complaining under his breath about us wanting to switch the slices. No I totally understand that we ordered one thing and this thing we want it was actually cheaper but when we arrived he clearly knew my dad and greeted him and it's not like we received the pizza and wanted to change. I think when you have a loyal customers it behooves you to work with them period even if he would have given us one barbecue slice and in one of the other ones it made the world of difference. My dad is a very non-confrontational person so once I noticed that the guy would not let it go I was going to say something and him just knowing me he just stopped me. But I put it like this there's so many other restaurants in a 1 block radius so be wary of treating loyal customers any kind of way as if they would disposable. I've only had the sausage parmigiana hero and it was not good. With better bread this would be a passable sandwich, but the soft roll with the sauce made the entire sandwich wet and unappetizing. The sausage used is just the slices used for the pizzas so even with a layer of sausage, the filling to bread ratio is way off. read more

If only there were a zero-stars option. My family used to order from King's every Thursday. The pizza was fine--reliable, edible, with a nice delivery person whom we got to know well. Until tonight. We'll skip the details: somehow we ordered a half-broccoli pie and a half-sausage came instead. The owner promised a new one right away, and in the meantime my kids, who were starving, managed to eat three slices. The delivery person took our incorrect pie and left us the right one, and not five minutes went by before he came back and asked for the missing three slices. REALLY?!?!?!? I kid you not, dear reader. The owner wanted the incorrect pie back, in its entirety, after I told him that our kids had touched it. The delivery person couldn't tell us why--just that the owner was angry. At us?! For attempted pizza slice swindling? WHAT in the world was he going to do with the pie? My husband angrily marched back to the restaurant, slices in hand, with the nice delivery person, to tell Mr. King's Pizza that this would be our last order with him.
