Gino's is amazing. We always order the same thing - medium pizza (half Hawaiian and half mushroom and olives) and antipasto (sometimes change it up for the cutting board). My kids and I decided to try Gino's for a sit-down dine-in Pizza. The restaurant was clean and neatly laid out, very inviting. We decided on a 16" large traditional pizza, onions, half black olive half green pepper- $17.88. The gentleman at the counter took my order, was very friendly and polite. The pizza arrived in record time, much faster than I would have expected. Unfortunately, the pizza was a mess. Immediately you could see the cheese floating in a watery layer from veggies and sauce covering the pie. Separating a slice was nearly impossible, even after waiting for the cheese to cool. Neither my kids nor I could actually hold a slice, as the slice completely dissolved with toppings and cheese floating in a watery mix of sauce and oil. It simply fell apart with the consistency of wet, clumpy corrugated cardboard. Needing silverware, I went to the counter and told the young woman (Alexis?) that the pizza was falling apart, and fairly soggy.. Nothing. A complete blank stare followed by an apathetic "ok". Unfortunately I did not have the time to debate this, nor did I have the time to re-order dinner. I returned to my kids who ate their portions with a fork and spoon. While the outside crust was fairly well made, the pizza as a whole was a soggy, mushy mess. Simply the worst I've seen in a long time. My kids were hungry and we packed the leftover slices to go. At the counter paying the bill, I again mentioned to Alexis my disappointment with the pizza. Her reaction was unbelievable, muttering "I heard you, I'm not stupid" and several other ramblings under her breath in disgust. I was stunned. I replied, "I only mention this so that the chef will know".. Alexis sarcastically replied "yeah. I'll tell him". The attitude was unbelievable. Completely rude and obnoxious, this is certainly not how you treat a customer. Needless to say I was extremely disappointed, and certainly not going back. Simply lousy from the start. Save your money, both Goodfellas and Colanero's pizza are much better, cheaper, and far more friendly. read more

I just had lunch on my day off with a friend we ordered apps and two dishes the food was good , but my plate had a lot of water in the bottom of the dish which is a bad sign for a pasta dish, being a km for a top rated restaurant, I know the difference, I did mention this to our server. And didn't make a big deal of it but I still should have been discounted for this, and acknowledged for the mistake, they failed to do this,overall if a dish is not correct you gotta make it right in some way. Ordered a pasta, and waited over an hour for a shrimp scampi. When it arrived, it was literally swimming in cheap oil. I mean, there was more oil in it than there was pasta. Had a terrific meal. I had the stuffed zucchini and my companion had the salmon. There was no music on in the dining room. Cassie, our server, was vigilant and responsive. The problem? Salads and appetizers came out and were fine. The couple we were with both ordered shrimp scampi. Both of their dinners were brought out. My husband and I waited. I first started getting Gino's delivery this past summer and was pleased with the huge portions at a fair price. Today, I order a turkey and bacon wrap, a caesar salad and a Pepsi. First of all, the delivery guy forgets my Pepsi and it took him about a half hour to go get it. Then when I get it, it is a can! Who sells cans of Pepsi? So when I call to ask about it, I'm met with a rude, defensive lady who snaps at me saying, "I've only ever had cans and 2 liters!" Because of her and the fact that the driver never apologized for forgetting my let down of a beverage, I will NEVER order food from them again. I don't care if I'm a minority in these reviews. Above-average neighborhood Italian restaurant, family-run for over 40 years. You can't go wrong here. Their tomato sauce is very good. I've eaten in many Italian places that consider their sauce an also-ran, something they just toss on the finished product; that's a big mistake, because the sauce is just as important as the dish. Wonderful sauce. Anything on the menu is first-rate. My favorite take-outs are the Grandma's Pizza and the Fried Calzones. Fried Calzones, a throwback to the past, are almost impossible to find these days. I don't know of another pizzeria north of NYC that has them, and even in NYC they are rare. I must say tvis little gem in the city of Poughkeepsie still has some of the best Italian food around. The portions are huge and the prices are great. We had fried calamari to start that was cooked perfectly. I had the chicken parm and eggplant parm combo. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the chicken was great as well. Being we live in Rhinebeck, my fiancé and I usually eat local being we have over twenty great restaurants in our hometown. However, my future sister in law suggested we eat at Gino's and my fiancé remembered a highly successful business associate used to eat at Gino's in Poughkeepsie and he raves about the food. Therefore, we went to Gino's tonight for dinner. To start off, the server, the owner's 18 year old niece, was the most polite, sweet, attentive and kind professional server! The service impeccable and the food, delicious! The fresh, homemade, warm oversized basket of bread, amazing! Homemade cheesecake, also incredible! The owner, Donato, walked over with a smile and asked if everything was okay and he and my fiancé chatted. She explained to him that she ordered gluten free pasta because she is gluten free and vegan and he informed her he offers an awesome vegan gluten free pizza with a high end gluten free vegan cheese! Donato went into the kitchen and gave my fiancé a container of fresh vegan mozzarella to take home and try. This man Donato was kind, warm, and friendly. I can tell immediately that he operates a high quality restaurant! I walked over to the display case and observed plates of homemade desserts that looked like something you would expect from Little Italy! Everything fresh, homemade, amazing! We cannot wait to go back for the holidays with family and try his vegan gluten free pizza that he explains taste delicious due to special gluten free flour and his gluten free specialty cheese. On my way out, I spotted a couple cases of private label bottles of wine with his logo on them. They are holiday gifts for his special customers. Don't waste your money or time on this place. We made the mistake of ordering from them yesterday. The chicken was dry. My baked ziti had soupy sauce and was just overall mushy. They charged me for the Pepsi I asked for but didn't actually pack it for us (so I was charged $1.50 for nothing). They said they packed paper plates and plastic knives for us. Spoiler alert: they didn't. No one in our group of nine people liked their meal! There was nothing good about anything we ordered.
