First off, ain't no true NY pizza have more than 8 slices in a Large Pie! I ordered a Large pie and it came cut into 12 slices, wtf is that about?! But let's bring it back to the initial annoyance with this spot. I went in, it was...

expect disappointment. I also gave this place such a low rating because the girl at front desk, zero customer service skills, probably not her fault, probably new, but it felt like she didn't want to be there and rather go back to her conversation she was having with other employees and wanted nothing to do with me when I was ordering. It also felt as if she was trying to get me to not order by scaring me away with wait times. All other workers were just minding their business, no welcome greeting or anything. So yea, I won't be coming back here, ever. Not like they care or will miss my business. Just thought I'd share my experience for any fellow NY'er looking for a spot.

top, but the lasagna pizza comes close. Always order the large, it's a great value. And add some ranch/marinara on the side...if you're into that. Which I am. They also offer a crazy-big 28" pizza, it's a fun option for a party or when you're hosting a bunch of people. In four years of frequent patronage, I had one bad experience which coincided with a change in ownership about a year back. After giving them a few more chances lately, I can say they are firmly back in the saddle and making a fantastic product.

Looking at the pizza here from a price to quality perspective it is a bit underwhelming. For the price of the pizza, I am expecting a larger pizza and a pizza that is high in quality. Although the size of the pizza was large, the quality didn't stand out to me. The toppings were plentiful, but seemed like they were just thrown on there without much thought. The crust didn't have a smokey charred taste, and overall was very basic. A very simple and basic pizza place in my opinion.

Feels very much like a NY pizza shop, from someone who has been to several in NYC. Deli style seating with the "kitchen" right there. No frills. Massive, thin, foldable pizza slices with generous topping portions. Best NY style pizza we've had in the RDU area.

This is the best NY Pizza in Raleigh, hands down! Classic NY pizza... I have even heard the Mom (I guess) taling to the kids in Italian running the shop. Right out of Jersey; Except clean. My fiancé is from NY and says this is real NYC pizza. I am VERY happy with the pizza. Never thought I would say this but I like it with anchovies sometimes too. this is a great place to eat. the staff is friendly and attentive to the patrons. the portions are large, 2 large slices and a 16 ounce drink for $5 every day. they also have other items on the menu but we go for the pizza. I may try something else one of these days. This has become a regular spot for us. read more

Pretty solid NY-style pizza. Crust good, sauce good. A big thing for me are the mushrooms... these seem to be canned, which is suboptimal. Toppings seem to be added on after the cheese pizza is cooked, which is also suboptimal. Despite these limitations, overall, pretty good though for north carolina. read more

Tried this pizza after moving to Raleigh. It is definitely not NY style pizza. Ordered the large pie and an order of zeppoli's. I haven't had zeppoli's since I left NYC years ago and was excited to see them on the menu! However I was extremely disappointed. They put way too much salt in their crust. I have been back twice more, but I am still not impressed. read more

My husband was craving pizza so we happened to be a Crabtree valley mall and found Gino's near by! It was a true hole in the wall which we both love. Didn't look like very many people inside until we opened the door and to our surprise there were quite a few people. We even caught a family leaving and asked how the pizza was and they said GREAT. It was definitely worth it and it was their very first visit too. The owner took out order and was extremely friendly. He gave us some of his history about coming from NY via Italy, pizza, and again was very welcoming. We ordered the house salad and supreme pizza. He did explains it was alot of food and we could box up our leftovers. This place is also very clean. Our salad came out fresh and our pizza shortly behind it. It was hot and looked delicious. Now for the taste....score! We were very pleased with the taste and it hit the spot. Pizza is not a part of our eating regiment at all but we wanted a treat and this place did not disappoint either of us! Give them a try. Your love them! read more

Great New York style pizza! Great prices too. They always have specials that either include 2 (1 topping) slices of pizza or 1 (1 topping) slice of pizza with a salad for about $6 including the drink. Hard to beat that! They also have good strombolis. I haven't tried their pasta, but it's probably good too. This place has been a staple in Raleigh for years. Very good and reasonably priced. read more

Heard from my friends the pizza here was great. I guess we got it on an off night. The dough wasn't cooked through and the pizza itself tasted very average. Like NY PIzza in Cary way better, but it's farther to drive. We'll drive next time. read more

This is where to get a great pizza pie in the Raleigh area. The slices are big, the crust is crispy and they have meatballs as a topping. There is no excuse to order from any of those crappy chains with these guys near by. They also offer delivery and i found the prices to be right on point, if not cheaper than what i expected. An all around legit little pizza joint. read more

I love Gino's Pizza! They have an amazing all day special that consists of 2 slices of pizza with one topping each and a drink for $5.56! OR you can order a slice of pizza with one topping, a side salad and a drink for the same price. I believe that Gino's Pizza is one of the best places in Raleigh to get some real authentic New York style pizza! The slices are huge and super tasty. The staff is always very nice! read more

I've had the $6 lunch special a few times (2 slices w/1 topping and a drink) and was never disappointed. Got a Large pie to take home for dinner the other night and my wife Loved it as well! Sausage, meatball, Mushrooms and onions and Dang... we wanted to eat the whole thing it was so good! We didn't... but the cold pizza for breakfast was delicious as well! Love this place! My rating is based solely on my craving for a NY white pizza, calling, and being told they aren't delivering tonight. I used to live in Boston as well as NYC area and the food at Gino's is the most authentic Italian that I've found in Raleigh. Everything I've tried has been delicious. Daily pizza special can't be beat. 2 slices and a drink for $5. Service has always been great. Chicken parm is unbelievably delicious. Garlic knots... Amazing. Top off your meal with the best cannoli you will find outside of Mike's pastries in Boston. Gino told me that the cream is flown in from NYC. You won't be disappointed! read more

I am a big fan of Strombolis pizza but Gino's is running a close race with them. You can't beat the everyday special of 2 slices 1 topping and a drink for $6. (Just rounding up). Strombolis only offers that deal around a certain time. Great deal and great pizza :) read more

This is our favorite local pizza spot. Our standby is pepperoni and mushroom, but I also recommend the sausage pizza. I am normally not a fan of sausage, but this isn't little sausage balls, but shaved pieces with really good flavor that they apparently make in-house. read more

Let me start by saying we are from Brooklyn. Nuff said. This was our first time at Gino's. My wife got the slice special with sausage and pepperoni. I got a sausage calzone. It was the best calzone I've had in years. It was fresh, hot, and the sausage was delicious. My wife loved the slices especially the sauce and crust. This place is a keeper and Gino is awesome. I absolutely loved this place. I went to another pizza shop yesterday and the food was so bad I had to bring it back, but not this food!!! It brought me back to Boston and I'm so happy!!! I got 2 slices and mozzarella sticks and it was great!! I called the manager and thanked him. Keep up the great work guys!!! read more

By far the best NY Style pizza I've had since I left NY. Not cheap, but not too expensive either. We got two 18 inch pizzas which was _way_ too much food, but it was worth it. The kids liked the cheese pizza and the garlic knots, and I was a pretty big fan of the lasagna pizza - I've never had anything quite like it. read more

Listen I'm giving a 5 because the prices are amazing and 2 this is by far the closest thing to NY pizza. I just moved to Raleigh from Long Island and Queens. I thought Pizza was going to have to be homemade from now on. Than on a whim I tried Ginos this little gem of a pizzeria hidden in the back of a shopping mall. They didn't disappoint, half meatball half mushroom amazing. The wings were good too. Also the interior reminds me of NY, nothing bougie just a nice place with some bench tables and a soda machine. They have a Tino Martinez jersey on display too, so I mean come on. Get your pizza here if youre in the Crabtree area. read more

This is not NY style pizza. The pizza is not anything spectacular. That being said, the staff was prompt and friendly. The price point is ok but I wouldnt go out of my way to get it. If this was NY style pizza it maybe worth it but as is...dont buy the hype, id put it maybe 1 step above Little Caesars. read more

We've been eating here about once a week for several years. I'd say we are regulars. The 2 slice plus a drink for $6 is a steal. The pizza is so good. Our favorite is the meatball pizza - homemade meatballs! Gino and the rest of the staff are super friendly! The restaurant is clean and casual. They do free delivery in a small radius. We grew up with Schianos Pizza down at the crabtree mall! They had gone down hill under other management when they moved. TIL we were told they had changed owners and were awesome again!! Ginos is New York Style Pizza!! I lived in NY for 30+ years and these guys got it right!!! Ginos has great New York style Pizza and a very friendly atmosphere. We have only been in town for 4 months but this has become a tradition for us to go every Sunday for lunch. We can't afford the calories but we work it off hiking. And it is worth it!!! read more

Father in law and I ordered the Baja bowl -- it was good but not great. I did also appreciate how menu items were marked gluten free. Overall, a nice dinner experience.

The staff move with the energy of a group project that everyone forgot was due today. Pizzas emerge... interpretively. You might order a margherita and receive something that captures its essence, emotionally, if not structurally. It's less "wrong order" and more "pizza as a suggestion." A master of creative problem-solving, this cashier has boldly redefined the concept of "making change." Why fumble with buttons and math when you can simply hand over two beers and call it even? And the wine list--oh, the wine list--is a beautiful historical document. A relic. A time capsule from at least six months ago, when bottles still existed and hope flowed freely. Now, asking for wine feels like asking about a long-lost friend. "We don't have that," they'll say, gazing into the middle distance. Still, there's something oddly annoying about it all. Like walking into a once-revered theater that still clings to its golden-age reputation. The performances feel like echoes rather than art, the lighting flat where it once dazzled, and every scene drags with the weight of trying to live up to a forgotten past. This dish is a must try when you visit Taverna Agora in downtown Raleigh. Lastly, someone at the table exclaimed that their grilled salmon was one of the best salmon dishes he had ever enjoyed as its unique presentation features pickled beetroot, sautéed spinach, and a lemon caper sauce. I had the Poseidon Branzino which was fabulous. The dish had roasted branzino, medley of sautéed cherry tomatoes and onions, fresh herb rice, and skordalia (I had to look up what that is - a fascinating Greek garlic puree). The blending of all those flavors made for a scrumptious dinner, and thanks to the kitchen team for preparing it perfectly so that I could even eat the skin of the fish. We shared two bottles of Assyrtiko wine which is one of our favorite Greek wines after visiting Greece a few years ago. The wine list at Taverna is simple but thorough and fun to experiment with. Walking in you'll feel like you've been transported to a village like, Greek atmosphere. To sit down you'll check in with the host and then be seated either inside or on the rooftop. We opted for the rooftop as it was a nice evening. To start I ordered the Baklava Old Fashioned (Bulleit bourbon, homemade baklava syrup, Angostura bitters, and Amarena cherries) which was amazing. Next we ordered the trio of all three spreads (Tzatziki, sun-dried tomato hummus, and spicy feta spread) and the calamari. Both dishes were excellent and I definitely prefer the spicy feta and tzatziki sauce. For my main course I ordered the Tomahawk Pork Chop (Chargrilled tomahawk chop, spinach, barrel-aged feta, herb aioli, Greek lemon potatoes) which was a bit disappointing. I probably should have sent the pork chop back as it was cooked well done and was very dry but was I was too hungry and didn't want to make my parents wait. For dessert I ordered Baklava Cheesecake (New York-style cheesecake with nuts and baklava filling) which was very nice and my mom ordered the Limoncello cake (lemon cake with lemon cream frosting) which was definitely the star of the show. If I'm back downtown I may try Taverna Agora again but will definitely avoid ordering the pork chop.

The food : Brussels sprouts in sauce were placed in front of us with no serving utensil, we asked for extra roumelade for the Pickles & Peppers but it took so long to arrive that there was nothing left to dip in it, wrong plates were placed in front of us, hamburgers were WAY over cooked and super dry, sweet potato fries were very soggy, sushi was bland. The espresso caramel chocolate malt that we loved so much before had zero malt flavor and was pretty much melted by the time we got it. We asked for six spoons for the malt and they brought five. We couldn't get anyone's attention to get a sixth, so two of us shared (we were tired of going to the station to fetch things for ourselves). This was overall a really bad experience at a place we had previously thought was outstanding. Sad!

Gino's Pizza at Pleasant Valley Promenade is fabulous everytime we eat there! The pizza is delicious and the customer service is outstanding! I am remembered everytime I come in and treated like family!!! Too many people try to compare Gino's to Schiano's on Strickland but that is like comparing filet minion to a hamburger!!! The BBQ chicken pizza here is phenomenal. The chicken is tender and flavorful, the barbecue sauce is sweet and tangy, and the red onions add a nice crunch.
