We were in need of a last minute dinner for our soccer team and their family. The owner was willing to accommodate us, but offered the option of catering to our hotel. Man, what can I say, this is the closest thing to 'real' NY Pizza I've tried south of DC!!! Very nice folks and they are from Brooklyn. The family has 'reclaimed' management of the restaurant and it is by far the best pies around!! Also, there is a new 30,000 sq ft Golfsmith next door where you can work up an appetite in one of the 10 indoor hitting stations. read more

As someone from up north, this as close to authentic northern pizza you can find in the raleigh area, it is SO good.

It was ok, but nothing special, which was relatively disappointing given the high ratings it seems to get. We ordered a plain cheese and a Hawaiian pizza. Everyone (3 adults & 3 kids, 10-13 years old) thought the crust was incredibly chewy. The sauce was good, but the ham, pineapples, & onions on the Hawaiian weren't particularly flavorful. Hands down the best, most authentic NY style pizza in Raleigh. I've spent a lot of time in NY, and believe me this is 100% legit. Family run by NY Italians...it's the real deal. I ordered delivery from Gino's for the first time as it has good reviews and in hopes that it may be similar to it's previous management Schiano's from years back. Order taking process was efficient and friendly. Delivery showed up on time. Pizza was delivered fresh and hot. I ordered the Old Fashioned pizza. A simple pizza. I was disappointed. This pizza has fresh basil, garlic, EVOO, along with standard cheese and tomato sauce. Very, very little basil. Very little garlic. I guess there was some EVOO but didn't notice. As little cheese and tomato sauce as they can barely get a way with. It was obvious the ingredients were conserved quite a bit, very skimpy pizza and that definitely reflected on the taste. Considering this place has good reviews, I wonder if something changed recently at the restaurant resulting in reduction of quality, or I just was really unlucky with the pizza preparer. Moved from LI to NC 2 years ago. After my first bite into a slice of Gino's Pizza, I could swear that I was back on Long Island. I've tried a bunch of pizza, all claiming to be NY-style, and nothing has come close to living up to the name. Gino's knocked it right out of the park. And then I tried their cannoli and zeppoles, and my God, they were heavenly. Actually better than a lot of zeppoles I've had on LI. I'm so glad I found a new favorite local pizza spot. I'm from NY and this is as good as it gets in Raleigh, and is on par with any great pizza in NY as well. 2 slices of pizza and a dirnk for $5, can't beat it. My company gets group orders and group lunches here all the time. The only things that I've heard people say isn't necessarily 5 star is the noddles in the spaghetti, but still a great spaghetti dish, but still worth trying as that could just be personal preference. The inside can cetrtainly be fancier but what's the point in a pizza joint? The strip mall / plaza it's in is the issue there, but the freshness of the food more than makes up for it, and keeps the prices down. Only complaint is there isn't a Gino's closer to my house. Oh, and the family and employees are very friendly, far more so than previous owner's. read more

I've been going to Gino's Pizza since they took over the old Schiano's spot. Gino's is one of the closet NY style pizzas in the Raleigh area. Unfortunately, the service has gone downhill. The owner and his son should be the only ones cooking the pizza in my opinion. I decided to go there for dinner with some friends one evening. The next morning I had an upset stomach. Visited Gino's for the first time and absolutely loved it! The pizza was flavorful and loaded with toppings (I had the meatlovers). The small was more than enough for myself and 2 toddlers. We didn't even eat half of it. The crust was perfect - not too thin and not too thick. The decor was simple. We tried Gino's tonight for the first time. First of all, the price is right. We got the special -- two 18" pizzas with one topping each for $24.95. All I can say is if you like New York-style pizza like I do, you won't find anything better unless you go to the Big Apple. Totally authentic with perfect cheese, sauce and crust. A complete godsend here in the Triangle. After I paid, the owner asked if it was my first time there. When I said yes he replied, "We'll, you'll be back. I promise." Still a good pizza but...I ordered one with mushrooms (which are my fave) and they were definitely canned and watery mushrooms:( they made the pizza soggy and just overall no good. I was so disappointed, I mean even dominos uses fresh mushrooms why skimp on a topping like that??? Still nice people and I will give them another go but I will not pay extra for soggy canned toppings. Oh and the wings were very very very dry, covered in sauce but dry like they were cooked a day or more ago and then just had sauce added to them. read more

Looking for a new pizza joint and since this was close we luckily gave it a try. Very casual decor but neat and tidy. This is a place where you order and then sit. we typically don't like that arrangement but this was fine. The cashier/waiter was friendly and efficient, the service as good as it gets in this setting. We ordered a "lasagne" pizza, chicken parm hero, garlic bread w cheese, and a house salad. The salad and app came out promptly. Our boys loved the bread served w warm marinara, enough to use as a dip for the pizza crust. My wife dislikes iceberg lettuce i love it but it as fresh and large, served with a nice homemade Italian dressing. The sandwich was great. The pizza was beautiful, ingredients spread evenly throughout and each in the right proportion. The pizza was cooked perfectly. We commented on the really good sausage and was told they made it themselves, nice. A really great casual and reasonably priced place. The quality of food and service would not have been out of place at a far more expensive spot, give it a try. read more
