Great food and staff at very reasonable prices- probably the best sushi place in New Bern.

Ginza is a hidden treasure. I have driven by it for years never suspecting that it has the best Japanese food I've eaten since living in NYC! The sushi is fresh, same for sashimi. The tempura is just the way you want it...crisp and delicious. You can bring wine or beer in with you because they don't serve either. Prices are very reasonable. read more

I recently grabbed takeout from here for my wife and I and we loved it. We had pork gyoza, shrimp shu mai, edamame, rainbow roll, and the cherry roll (cost about $35). The only thing I wouldn't necessarily get again was the shu mai as it almost tasted a little sweet. But the gyoza were spot on, the edamame was warm, and we both really liked the rolls. The rest of the menu looks great and they have bento boxes that look like a good deal. I'd also really like to try something from the hibachi grill as well. When I walked in to pick up the food, I noticed that the restaurant is small but it's nicely decorated and very pleasant and I would definitely dine in. It's by far the best sushi I've had in Eastern NC and compares very favorably to sushi I've had, and paid a lot more for, in California and Bahrain. We will definitely work this into our regular rotation of restaurants in New Bern. read more

I am definitely a fan of Ginza. It is about time that New Bern has a decent place for sushi. Especially since we so close to the water. The service is always good and the staff is very friendly! The sushi is much better than the hibachi...but the menu is geared to more of a sushi restaurant. The speciality rolls are more expensive, but that is like all other good sushi restaurants in the bigger cities. I recommend to give it it a try if you are a sushi lover!!! read more

Ginza is so delicious. It's a total hole in the wall sushi place but worth a try for sure. My boyfriend ordered the seaweed salad to start, and although it's not really my thing, he really enjoyed it. I ordered an "Angel Roll" and I cannot get enough of it. Before we start, I have lived in Japan for 8 years and ate a lot of sushi. We recently ate here. We had pork katsu, and few sashimi\sushi. Pork cutlet was decent, little overcooked. Sushi- Tuna taste fishy, which it means not fresh. Tuna sushi should not smell nor taste fishy. Squid was really chewy, it should be soft, creamy texture. sushi rice had no flavor at it, it should have sushi vinegar mixed into it. Will not be ordering sushi here again. read more

Very Very Disappointed. Took my Valentine out but instead got ripped off. Do yourself a Favor and save yourself $50. Food was very cold, service was slow. Portions of our very expensive meal was left out. We should have just gone to Bojangles or Burger King. Next time I'm going to take my Valentine out for a heart shaped biscuit. read more

Although the one time I tried the hibachi, I wasn't in love with it, the sushi MORE than makes up for it! My fiance and I have come here at least twice a month for the past 6 months, order almost exclusively from the sushi and appetizer menu, and we STILL haven't tried everything! The sushi is excellent. We've been twice and it was good both times. I don't care for the ginger... I've never experienced soapy tasting ginger at a sushi bar. I love ginger, but this is bad. I didn't give 5 stars because we got mushy edamame which was reluctantly taken away after the server went to get the manager. Refused food should be handled better than it was, IMO. As in other reviews, the seaweed salad is fresh and delicious. For some reason, the sushi bar is boarded up so you can't see. We were a bit worried about what they were hiding back there, but all of the sushi was tasty and fresh. They didn't have combo rolls I liked, but made up what I wanted and it was perfect. Definitely not the best sushi in NC. Cowfish in Raleigh is way better. Miso soup and ginger--less than best quality. Ordered two kinds of sushi and a Dragon Roll--all were only slightly better (if) than grocery store sushi. Both sushi choices were weak--one wasn't good at all. Very little eel in the Dragon Roll. Meh. I was excited after reading the reviews that this place would be solid, but we were not impressed. The menu didn't have many options for rolls that are not tempura which is always a red flag for me. We ordered 3 rolls, two of which were just okay and one (the only tempura one we ordered) was pretty good. We also ordered edamame (which was perfect) and a Bento box and order of gyoza for our kids to share. The Bento box came out much later than everything else and had stir fry instead of breaded chicken beast as shown which made our meal not so much fun trying to appease the kids. The service was ok, but we found ourselves having to flag down a server for various items. Overall, just an okay experience and sort of disappointing given the reviews. read more

Hands down best sushi in New Bern. Id give it a 5 stars rating if they served alcohol. So, no saki. Anyway the seafood is always fresh and rolled to perfection. I have eaten here twice before and thought the food was okay and the service was bad both times. I didn't feel like the fish was very fresh either time I had the sushi. But yesterday I tried to eat here and had such a negative experience that I walked out without eating and will never ever go back. I walked in carrying my baby. No one was there to greet and seat me. The place had about three tables with patrons. I waited for someone to come. The woman appeared in the dining room and didn't acknowledge me. I walked to the table i wanted to sit at and asked her if i could sit there and for a high chair. She ignored me. I asked her again for a high chair. She said yes and walked away and did several errands for other customers that were already seated and eating (filled their glasses, checked if they were okay, etc). I was standing in the middle of the dining room waiting, holding my daughter. I asked again if I could have a high chair. Again she said yes and continued to do other, non urgent tasks. I walked out.
