We ordered two chicken ramen, a beef yakisoba and fried chicken on the side. The food and service were sufficient and filled our bellies. It was crowded when we ate there for dinner. Our visit was a bit of a mixed bag. Service wasn't particularly friendly, and there seemed to be a bit of a language barrier, which can be frustrating for all parties involved. My husband ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl, and didn't eat most of it. The chicken was thigh meat that wasn't trimmed or cut well at all. There were large pieces with fat and connective tissue still attached, which is unappetizing and was unexpected. Chicken teriyaki is usually grilled breast meat in our experience, so this was a definite let down. The actual sauce on it was ok, but nothing to write home about. I got the sushi burrito with salmon and tuna. It was HUGE, which was awesome, but I was only able to eat half, and sushi doesn't keep well, so half went into the trash, which made me sad. The fish was well cut and portioned well and there was a good balance of veggies, rice, and meat. It did need more sauce, and there were very, very large pieces of cilantro stem in it that I had to keep picking out, which wasn't pleasant and was a little annoying. The poke bowls are mainly what I get and it's wonderful, always ask for sauce on the side. customer service is great and the food always comes out in an appropriate timely manner depending on how crowded it is. I work on the same strip as them, and I always get a to-go drink from their wide selection of different teas, milk teas, coffee, sodas, for about 1 year now. It's super convenient. My wife happens to be Japanese, we give everything a shot, and we realize we won't ever reach 'truly authentic Japanese cuisine'. We love Asian fusion. They put the broth in its own container, so the noodles don't get soggy. The rest of the ingredients are in their own container - easy to put together and chow down. Portion size seems generous, and the fish was fresh. The decor was all over the place, the walls had cracks in their paintings, it was just unsightly. Food wise: Ramen noodles seemed frozen, broth was okay but not anything special, their cashu was over cooked. Their table side hot oil was old and stale. Kimchee salad had good spice, but was a weird lettuce combination. Egg rolls were prefrozen spring rolls, not what I expected and they were store bought. Sushi burrito was good and I liked that I could build my own. Little too much rice on outside, but they filled it well with the protein. What a find this place is! A small shop, order and pay at the counter and then food will be brought out to you. I really wanted to try the poke in addition to the ramen but it was a hot day and I knew I couldn't take the leftovers with me. Got two bowls of the pork belly chashu: one with the tonkatsu broth and one with the shoyu broth. For the bowl with the tonkatsu broth, we got extra bamboo shoots. The tonkatsu broth was creamy but not overly creamy. Shoyu was a typical salt based broth, flavorful and smooth. I liked that there was sliced wood ear as I don't see that too much in ramen bowls (I love it!). The pork belly was so flavorful, just borderline of almost too much salt but I liked it. There were decent slices of fat on top of each chashu piece. Again, very flavorful but it was too much fat for my liking. Next time I will just order the regular pork chashu. Overall, o really liked this bowl! The only downside is I wish there was another slice or two of the naruto as I personally love this. This is definitely our comfort restaurant. We've been here a handful of times now and it always hits the spot. I get the shrimp tempura tonkatsu and my wife gets the vegetable tonkatsu. Both delicious. We've also tried the mini eggrolls they have and they are super yummy, too! Finally got my ramen fix and man was it worth it. The broth was amazing. Perfectly balanced. The beef was also cooked well and had a great texture! The gentleman that took our order and was very patient and helped her decide the best option for her which turned out to be crispy chicken with chicken soup minus the fish cake, mushrooms and egg. I opted for the seaweed salad which was ice cold and very refreshing to start with and followed it up with the build your own sushirito (yes, it is sushi in burrito form with a sheet of nori instead of a burrito). You get a very good amount and my daughter finished ALL of her soup. They have your usual bottled sodas and waters but they also have specialty drinks in the fridge. My daughter selected Ramune drink in strawberry flavor. We didn't know how to open it but luckily the owner showed us. This is such an amazing place. Which is weird because it was like, half of the broccoli spear was hot and the other half of the same spear was cold. Strange. It was like that in a couple or three bites. It's so nice to have a good ramen place in San Antonio! There ramen really is top notch, with a good selection of broths and toppings you won't get bored, they also have an equally good poki bowl, with more sauces and toppings than their competitors this is a great place to come. Their tonkatsu pork belly ramen is pretty amazing to say the least, it's rich and savory, silky and punchy with all that bone broth reduction. The pork belly was carmelized to perfection and full of flavor not just a roasted pork loin thrown on top. Same goes for theirs ramen egg, not just a hard boiled egg but a legit marinated ramen egg, I will say mine was a little over as I tend to like a gooey center. Portions are great and you leave completely satisfied, if you want some snacks/finger foods they have a few solid options, the shrimp tempura are an awesome compliment to any ramen or poki bowl, fried to crispy perfection with a little sweet and salty dipping sauce, is there really anything better? It made my day better and it wasn't even a bad one! I the biggest downside to this place is the setting is more casual order at the counter, no alcohol or beer of any kind seems like the worst sin when you have ramen and poki this good! If these guys had an actual ramen/ sushi bar this place would be next level, I'd give them 6 stars! Also I would like some more authentic Japanese options, even if they're small maybe even seasonal rotating ones! Try to be fair and try them another time since my first experience I didn't think it was good. So I tried them again today and I still came up with the same results. The Ramen is not good. I'm just going to be honest. The eggs are not jammy. They're overcooked, and taste a bit old if I'm being honest. I don't think they were marinated. The broth taste very underseasoned.. I had to use tons of soy sauce and chili oil so that I can taste something because it tasted like water. Doesn't taste like authentic Japanese Ramen at all. All in all, I feel like it's a very lazy quick thrown together meal. If you're not looking for anything delicious, then this would probably do. But if you were looking for a tasty flavorful Japanese food this isn't it. The kitchen looks a bit dirty as well. You can see it from the bathroom.
