It's been years since I last visited. It's smaller and different. I ordered mostly sushi rolls and sashimi and they were good. I liked that sliced fish is bigger than rice for nigiri which is how it's done in Japan. I ordered a bulgogi bibimbap from Korean menu. It's good but not so much bulgogi in it. I took my mom and wife here for dinner. It's a very small hole in the wall but very clean with both Japanese and Korean dishes. We ordered a bunch of rolls that all tasted pretty good. The miso soup was lukewarm and didn't taste that great but the service was great. I would definitely come back again to try out the Korean dishes next time. read more

I hope that I am wrong about this, but I fear that they are gone, in all but the last surface details. The food was consistently quite good, the proprietors and staff very nice. A major change in their hours awhile back unfortunately took them out of my orbit, which does not go by their place in RB nearly as often as it once did. I did happen by there yesterday though, nominally during the currently listed business hours. It was dark, and you could not see into the restaurant. It looked like they had downsized, with a sign on half of the restaurant -- one of the two entrance doors -- showing as "For Lease." A sign on the other door cautioned that they did not have a bathroom. THAT had been in the now-posted "For Lease" half. Not having a bathroom pretty much spells "Finito" for ANY restaurant; I don't know that it even complies with code for restaurants. In the past, they had also done a noticeable take-out business. But a lot of restaurants are folding these days, under the burden of economic realities. If this was indeed "curtains" for Ginza, I will definitely miss them. read more

Their menu is extensive and includes a variety of Korean dishes, sushi rolls, noodles, rice plates, and appetizers. We ordered to go and the food was ready on time. Disappointed last visit here yesterday. We ordered a Sashimi Salad and the knife cuts on the sashimi was sloppy and the slices were little square chunks. Not delicate slices of sashimi you would should expect. We ordered a Philadelphia Roll protein style with Soy Paper. The roll had way too much cream cheese. I couldn't taste anything but the cream cheese. Service was nice and friendly. No more banchan with your meal. Disappointed. No sure we will be back again. read more

This review is for my experience ordering takeout! I was in RB and wanted some sushi. I found Ginza sushi as an option! I was excited about having a salmon sashimi bowl which I can never find elsewhere! We also got a salmon dragon roll. Food was fantastic and packaged well as a to-go order. When I walked in, it was pretty busy for a Monday night which surprised me! This did lrad to it taking a bit longer for my food to be ready, but the staff were kind and acknowledged me immediately when I got there. The sushi chef named Abel, who works at happy hour, which has a bomb Sapporo and Saki deal before 6pm, makes a roll, the Picante, which is spicy AF, but also super fresh and delicious. He puts a lot of pride into the food and it shows. Wednesday and Thursday you can beat the crowd, but now that the space is smaller and more intimate, like an authentic Sushia-ya, minus the counter. Friday and Saturday is a privilege to get a spot because the community loves this places, so you should call about a table or grab take out before if the wait is too long. That's what I think of when I come to Ginza sushi. All the rolls and fish are very fresh, the flavors are amazing, the pricing is About 40% less expensive than anywhere. You will find in town. I stumbled onto this place after losing another sushi restaurant to the pandemic apocalypse and we love this place. The service is great and even though the restaurant is small, it just means you will be served faster. We have never ordered something that we didn't like and every time we try something new it's added to the list of options that make it more difficult to order. Way too hot to stay home and cook dinner with this heatwave pushing temps well into the 90s inland. Decided to try this restaurant when it popped up during our Yelp search. And we're glad we came in for an early linner. Here's what we ordered: -- Black bean noodles: This is posted as only being available Monday-Thursday from 11am until 3pm, but our waiter kindly offered to check in with the kitchen to confirm they could make this. Thankfully we were able to experience this awesome dish! I cannot speak about authenticity, but having tried black bean noodles at several restaurants over the years, I can say the version offered here is some of the best we've had. The delicious black sauce perfectly concealed the piping hot noodles underneath, which remained firm. After a good mixing, as is the appropriate way to enjoy this dish, it was a lip-smacking good time. -- Chicken Katsu Curry: My girl ordered this and loved how it didn't include any potatoes, which I found disappointing since it's my understanding that this dish is traditionally served with potatoes. We agreed to disagree on this point. The chicken katsu here was crunchy outside, yet the chicken remained surprisingly moist inside. After being disappointed so many times by the dry chicken served elsewhere, I normally do not order chicken katsu and opt for pork katsu instead, which is more forgiving in my opinion. An extra helping of curry is served in a gravy boat so you can precisely control the volume of sauce you want to drown your chicken katsu and rice wjth. I thought it was a nice touch. -- Pork Belly and kimchi: Now this was another great dish! Next time I may have to order two servings so I don't have to share with my lady. Sorry. Not sorry. I'm sure she would agree. This dish was served sizzling on a hot stone and I couldn't get enough of the perfectly seasoned pork belly. I was impressed that the kimchi managed to remain so firm sitting beside the pork belly on the hot stone. I have been coming here for the last 5 years to order the Korean soon tubu (tofu stew). I come at least once a week and I have also lost 21 lbs eating soon tubu and sweet green salads. Today I tried the hot stone bibimbap. The bibimbap is not as large in quantity as some places, definitely a portion for one but it's very good. We have been Ginza customers for ~5-6 years and this past year, I would say we eat at Ginza 3-4 time every month. We went to Ginza on Friday night and was introduced to their new menu and prices that I would say are ~20% higher than just last week for each item. I was pretty surprised (okay, . . . . shocked) at the total price of our meal for a family of 6 (my wife and I, plus our daughter, her husband and two grandchildren, aged 12 and 8) - before it was ~$160 (including tip) and on Friday, ordering approximately the same dishes, the bill was $220 (including tip). I'm still trying to figure out how it got to be ~$60 higher than before because I didn't get an itemized receipt. My granddaughter and I always order a ramen soup and a spicy tuna roll, the other granddaughter an avocado roll and my son-in-law usually a soup as well. My wife and daughter order one of the sushi dinners with tempura. I'm a little sad that we won't be going back that often now with this price increase. We drive from Carmel Valley/Del Mar to enjoy Ginza. read more
