I'll have to come back to try the steak but no notes for the pork Teppanyaki. I like to get the mixed sauce with pepper and mushroom. My coworker got the shrimp steak though, and I do have to warn that those are just full shrimps on a sizzling plate that you have to peel and so I would not recommend that. My first experience was Taishoken, and I maintain that it's trash. Fundamentally, my issue with the dish is that the cold noodles mix with the hot dipping sauce, creating a lukewarm final product. I prefer my food to either be hot or cold. Not really the middle. Shugetsu solves this by offering hot noodles. Dip your steaming hot noodles into the scalding dipping sauce for a delicious experience. Another busted thing about this place is that, for the same price, you can get any size portion of noodles. Fellow members of value town would be tempted to get the XL for maximum value. It's definitely enough noodles for 2 meals! Finally, I also highly recommend their Aburasoba. It's a delicious dry mixing ramen that reminds me almost of Mongolian bbq. The meat is so tender and scrumptious. Looking back, I hope this restaurant flies under the radar cuz the venue is quite small. If it gets busy the parking lot wouldn't be able to accommodate.

Unfortunately, this visit was very disappointing. The regular tsukemen does not include any chashu or egg. I paid an additional for the "Special," which added three pieces of chashu and one egg cut into two halves. The chashu was the biggest problem. Each piece was less than half the size I remembered--just three narrow strips--and the meat was also very dry. For the upgrade, the portion and quality were both unacceptable. I asked the server whether the chashu had become smaller. She said she would check with the kitchen, but after waiting for quite a while, she never came back with an answer. I had to call her over again. She then took the bowl back to the kitchen, and someone from the kitchen came out and told me that this is now the standard size and that the chashu will continue to be this small going forward. The noodles themselves were still good. At first, the dipping sauce seemed lighter than I remembered, but I later realized that it was probably because I put a lot of noodles. Once I had fewer noodles left, the sauce still tasted quite salty. I then added the chicken broth provided for diluting the remaining dipping sauce. Unfortunately, it was still salty, while the original flavor of the dipping sauce was mostly covered up by the chicken broth. Instead of becoming lighter and more balanced, it stayed salty but lost the flavor that made it enjoyable. Overall, paying $20 before tax and tip for tsukemen with only three tiny, dry strips of chashu and one egg does not feel like good value. The poor follow-up from the server also made the experience worse, and the kitchen confirmed that the smaller chashu is now permanent. Shugetsu may still be conveniently located, but after this visit, I don't see much reason to return.
