I typically only like AYCE hot pot because I don't feel like I get a good value with à la carte. This was not the case for Chengdu. They have giant meat rings that were perfect for a group of four. They also have a sauce bar available for $2 but it is definitely worth the money. I also love that they have covers for all the sauces to ensure cleanliness. Not only is the food delicious but the service is top tier. The serves are well attentive and quickly bus the dishes. They offer complementary items in the waiting area for a more enjoyable before and after experience.

Left with good memories~ Dropped by for dinner Sunday ~6pm. Reservation is only for parties of 6 or more, but calling ahead, they were able to save a table for 5. The place wasn't too busy, until we began ordering. What we got: - 2 soup base (Chengdu classic spicy and pork bone broth) ~ you can customize the spice and oil level for the chengdu classic spicy soup base. We got light fat, which comes with a small block of tallow, that we took out prior to the broth boiling as the broth itself was plenty oily. - Lamb and Beef Meat Ring ~ Aesthetically pleasing and was a decent amount for 5 people. Paired with other items on/off the menu (ie: veggie platter, beef tripe, and beef tongue), we were well satisfied. - Beef tongue ~ THIS. Texturally was perfect. An item we ordered seconds for - Lemon Black tea ~ This was an all-you-can-drink item. Service was top-notch in consistently asking us if we needed a refill! We never had to ask for refills! The sauce bar was ~$3 per person, which included a variety of dry and wet seasonings, and side dishes. The highlight was the seasoned pork hock, which was kept well stocked on rotation! Although located in an awkward part, where the line would run long and into the middle of the restaurant, it was convenient for all. All in all, we had a great experience here! The meal also came with chocolate or vanilla ice cream! Highly recommend and would return!! Bonus: The waiting area had hair ties and other items that make the hot pot experience less cumbersome!

The meat quality wasn't amazing, but you get what you pay for and overall it's a great value. Really liked the setup too. They have all the little essentials for hotpot like floss, mouthwash, toothbrushes, fabric spray, and mints. Tomato and pork bone soup was a great combo. The tomato was super flavorful while the pork bone was more subtle and cozy. Goose intestines were unique and really good too. The snow fungus dessert and ice cream were such a good way to wrap up the meal.

I was really excited to try this place since it's fairly new and I LOVE hot pot! The menu was very impressive with a huge selection of meats, seafood, and other hot pot ingredients. I mainly came for the meat ring, and I think it was worth ordering. It's definitely enough to share between two people. The restaurant itself is clean with traditional Chinese decor. The ventilation was superb. I left without smelling like hot pot, which is always a plus. Even with every table cooking, the dining room never felt smoky or stuffy. Service and timing could use some work. Our soup base had been boiling for over 10 minutes before any of our ingredients arrived. I could tell the staff was busy, but it's hard not to get impatient watching the broth boil with nothing to cook. The sauce bar was disappointing. About half of the sauce ingredients were empty, and all of the snacks and side dishes were gone. I saw multiple tables, including ours, checking back several times hoping they would be restocked, but no luck. As for the food, it was just okay. The soup base wasn't as flavorful as I had hoped and some of the meat was a bit tough. I've been to other hot pot spots where the broth is so good that you barely need dipping sauce but that wasn't the case here. Overall, it wasn't a bad meal but I don't think it lived up to the hype. There are plenty of hot pot restaurants in the Bay Area that offer similar quality with better service and a smoother dining experience. I'll probably wait until things settle down before giving it another try.

Chengdu Memory is a newish place that opened up here in Fremont. Our friends all tried it with mixed reviews so i we (being lovers of hot pot) decided to give it a try, see if it fits our pallet. The parking situation still gets pretty full here during rush hour so come prepared. Seems most of the parking is split half and half, half for Chengdu Memory, half for Ping's Bistro. One party of 2 was before us 2, and the waiter asked if they wanted to share a table. They said no. For some reason, he didnt ask us if we wanted to share. He just led us to the same table and said we are sharing. I declined and pondered why the other group was asked while we were told... weird.. We were promised certain tables but it ended up getting mixed. I think they should just keep to letting patrons know how long the wait is, dont promise tables that go to others later. We got the spicy beef oil, tomato, and a pork bone stew. The soups individually didn't really wow me. In the midst of Happy Lamb, LiuYiShou, and HaidiLau, Chengdu memory's flavor seems a little lacking. What I ended up doing, was mixing a bowl of all 3 flavors and got a really delicious mix. I think separated, Spicy is just really spicy, Pork Bone is bland but creamy, Tomato was sour but more like vinegar. A bit disappointing, but maybe will try again, especially since we did not get a chance to try one of their specialties the Fish Maw Meats are thin and delicious. They also had a small but well stocked sauce bar. Some places have sides like chicken feet, the day we went was pork feet. Turned out really good when cooked in the soup for a bit. Over all the food was ok. Service was ok. Place is small and might ask you to share a table. Will try again soon, maybe next time will be better

Presentation goes crazyyyy here. I def see this place being an instagrammer's dream. The meat wheel was the selling point for me hands down. Quality of the meat and broth were standard - nothing mind blowing in my opinion but the aesthetics make up for it. Def worth checking out!

I've been hearing so much about this place in Seattle especially from kelseyloves pho on tiktok that i wanted to try it my next visit to Seattle, but im so glad they had opened one here in the Bay Area. First walking in, we were warmly greeted by the staff and they asked if we have ever dined with them before. He showed us the amenities before seating, in which i took a hair tie to prepare for my feast. When we got seated, the server explained to us the menu and how to order and gave us a brief run down about the sauce bar which costs a little extra per person. The server also saw me take off my coat and placed it on the chair next to me, and he hurriedly came out with a coat cover and he said its so it won't smell for afterwards which i appreciate the gesture and tentativeness of the staff. We got the tum yum soup base and the pork soup. The tom yum was so flavorful and tart to my liking and the pork soup was on the more mild and clean broth. The beef and pork belly meats cut had good flavoring to them. Overall very excellent service and food!

Chengdu Memory Hotpot is so generous with their portions, and staff is helpful. We really enjoyed our time here and will be back. The meat ring is enough for 4 people, we were a party of 3 and struggled to finish, but we also got a ton of fish tofu. I also like that their menu is diverse so it's great for adventurous eaters. The sauce bar feels a little inconvenient because if they're busy the line can block a good portion of the restaurant. The sauce bar itself is kind of in a little corner compared to Din Tai Fung where there are multiple and is large enough to accommodate 2-3 people at a time.

I first tried Chengdu memory in Seattle, and now that it's in the bay, decided to come back! I won't lie, the bay has a ton of delicious Chinese hot places, so the competition is quite high! So let's get into the deets For meat, we did half beef belly and half lean meat. I usually like leaner meat but for some reason, I like the beef belly here more than the lean one. The leaner cut was tougher than the belly, and you can tell the quality is just okay on the meats. Sauce bar: this is one of the better sauce bars compared to other Chinese hot pot, I love the side dishes like the pickled chicken feet and they offered a number of hot items like fried chicken! They also have a small dessert bar which was nice as well. Sides: we got enoki mushroom and greens and some noodles. This was def more than enough food and we weren't able to finish all the meat, but thankfully we were able to take the rest togo. Overall, it's not bad. Meat quality is okay, but the side dishes at the sauce bar are good. I like how they provide quality aprons so you don't splash all over yourself. Again, my Chinese hot pot standards are high, so this was just okay.

We stopped by for the late-night happy hour, which offers unlimited 50% off select meats Monday through Thursday after 9 p.m. Just look for the Happy Hour tab on the tablet ordering system. The beef was our favorite--it stayed juicy and flavorful throughout the meal. The pork belly was tasty but dried out pretty quickly, so next time we'll probably try the chicken instead. We also really enjoyed the unlimited sauce and dessert bar, which was a fun bonus. Overall, it's a great deal if you're craving late-night Korean BBQ!

    - we came around 5:30pm and luckily found parking and were able to be seated very quickly, they even opened the door for us! Service was great right off bat - ordering is easy with a tablet, they suggest to order the soup base first so it has time to boil - both soups were fragrant and packed enough flavor to make each ingredient yummy (prices are pretty reasonable here as well!) - I loved the assortment for the snack bar, there were oranges, peanuts, cucumber, seaweed, pork trotters, chicken feet, and dessert soups - later on it gets super busy so the staff tend to be preoccupied, we had to remind multiple times for things we asked for but it's understandable with how much they need to juggle. Overall, we'll be back!

Chengdu Memory Hotpot is truly a hidden gem in Fremont! With so many hot pot places becoming increasingly expensive, it was refreshing to find a restaurant that offers great quality at such reasonable prices!! And it opens late which is also a great place for late night eats What really stood out was the exceptional service. I accidentally ordered a broth that was much spicier than I could handle, and the staff went above and beyond by manually removing the peppers to make it more enjoyable. Their attention to detail and willingness to help made a huge difference!! Another pleasant surprise was the unlimited free refills on both the milk tea and lemon iced tea -- a rare perk these days. Great food, fair prices, and outstanding service. I'll definitely be coming back and recommending it to friends!

Chengdu was comparable to Haidilao... in my eyes they are about the same price and quality wise. The few differences for me is that chengdu had more limited broth options and the order had WAY more meat! Decor was nice and clean and the ring of meat makes for great photos. Service was fast and attentive. We did have to wait for an hour (since the hype is real rn), but we really wanted to try a new hot pot place! I would come back - but wait for the trend to die down!

This is the most disappointing hot pot I've been to, we're going to leave after looking at the menu, again 2 prices, $34 & $42. The broth comes with only 2 flavors just like Haidilao in Fremont which if you chose the wrong ones, then your meal is over, this is exactly what happened to us. The spicy broth is just garlic, star anis, salt water and lots of red pepper that burns your tongue so you can't taste anything. The original broth is also just tons of garlic cloves and tasteless. For $34 you get the least expensive beef there are, my son likes pot belly like Shabuya but only get pork slices, there is pot belly in the cold meat section and doesn't look very fresh. For $42 you get a plate of Wagyu beef each and a few more choices of meats like briskets. So we decided to go with the cheaper $34 menu. Hot pot is simple, good hot broth and "tender" meats to dip in to eat. If the broth is tasteless then the hot pot is bad. The sauce bar is small and people have to get in line to get the sauce, the ponzu is salty not as tasty and light as other places and it's in a bottle. The veggies bar I like, it had Tong Ho and lettuce wraps, but the Tong Ho was gone after the fist round and replaced with something else. The hot foods are actually good, the fried chicken was tasty and crispy, the braised pork feet was delicious. The seafood bar is ok. I think it's depend on everyone's taste, I definitely don't like the tier menus, I prefer individual broth instead of everyone is using the same 2 flavor broths, that's why we don't go to Haidilao any more although their broths are tasty. Until we tried all the hot pots places, we wouldn't know which types fit our tastes and look at the patrons, Chinese main land may have different tastes than Chinese Hong Kong or Taiwan. There are definitely not many Japanese in these places although it's shabu style. Shabuya is still our favorite.
