I like this place! I think I would definitely go back. We came with a party of seven so we were expecting to have a long wait. We waited maybe about 30 to 40 minutes. They do allow you to pre-order your pizza for your table at the counter, which is convenient and it helps speed up the process of the pizza coming out to your table. In the meantime, we got drinks at the bar, which during St. Patrick's Day they had special drinks on their menu for the holiday. Our waitress was extremely nice and accommodating. It can be a lot a little loud in there, but that is kind of expected. We ended up getting one large, deep dish pizza, pasta, chicken wings, and fried calamari. First off, this location is in the corner of the North Pier so you might miss it. They're famous for deep dish pizza and they make it as you order so there's always a delay like 30 to 45 minutes so do not come here if you're in a rush or on a schedule. The servers do tell you what to expect when you place the order. We heard about tavern style during our boat tour and the closest they have is a thin crust and then they cut it in rectangles. I am a visitor from Dallas, here in Chicago with my wife. On this snowy day, we came in excited and in a very good mood, hoping to enjoy your pizza. Unfortunately, the way we were treated by one of your staff members was shockingly rude. She dragged us around from place to place and then seated us at the busiest, least comfortable table that no one else seemed to want. She then tossed the menus onto the table in a very dismissive way. When I politely asked for her name, she firmly refused to tell me several times. I was deeply offended and hurt by her attitude. The deep dish pizza is so good! It's the only time I used a fork and knife to eat a pizza! We got a small half and half a meat lovers and mine was spinach/pineapple and pepperoni. The amount of spinach amazed me! It was so good! The appetizers were great too...the calamari could be eaten without sauce...says it all! this is probably one of the hardest reviews i had to write. Visited chicago and can't leave the city without trying the infamous Giordano's Deep Dish Pizza. Husband and i got to the place and outside/waiting area was full on chaos, & HOT. So much people just standing and waiting to be seated/for their orders. It was hard for us to even go inside the restaurant to order. So we decided to check online if they do online orders so that way, we can just pick it up. We were able to order via online and skip the chaos. We were given a pick up time which was about and hour & a half after placing the order. We walked around the Cloud Gate & millennium park and took pictures, visited others shops and stuff to kill time. Finally it was time to pick up our order, we got there maybe 5 min after given time, still chaotic inside. We went to the pick-up side of the counter and we were told our order was not ready.. so we were waited inside for another 30min. It was hot and it was too crowded. It almost felt like being in a club filled with sweaty drunk people! Finally our order came out. Now for the pizza: We ordered the Chicago Classic Pizza. It was nice, hot, fresh, & thiccccc. She was filled. The dough had a texture/taste of a pie. Crust was also on the thicker side.. like a pie. I really didn't know what i was expecting tbh. A slice was heavy enough to be a paper weight. And it was also heavy enough to make you feel full. We ordered the classic. Cheese was super thick, and had some nice cheese pull. i got super full after 3 bites. Was it worth it? In my honest opinion, it all depends on your preferences. But i'd prefer thin kinda crispy crust pizza, easier to eat, less mess, and i could actually enjoy it and able to taste the flavors more. First off, the service and flow of this place is INSANE. I felt like I was being conveyer belted through right on to flavor town. Our server was tyler, he was amazing!! We tried chicago classic as our first ever chicago pizza and we loved it. The manager (I think?) was the one who brought the food and served it up to us. Came in to an overflowing place on a Thursday thinking it wouldn't be too bad of a wait. Boy were we dead wrong. Waited about 5 minutes in a line to get on a waitlist to eat inside. Was told waitlist was about 20 minutes which seemed reasonable considering how many people were crammed in the space. Fortunately our name was somehow called in only 5 minutes But when they sat us down was then told that pizza is a 45 minute wait. GOTTEM! Given it was our first trip to Chicago and our first time having deep dish we decide to go with the plan. Ordered a Caesar to help us hunker down as we marvel how freaking busy this place constantly was. Never an empty table and a lot of waitstaff scurrying all over the place. After about 55 mins after being seated our classic Chicago deep dish came and it was heavenly. Super cheesy, deceptively heavy, and after just two slices for each of us, we were full and ready to go. There was even one slice left that we had to take back to hotel and still tasted great without any additional heating the day after. Wish they did this concept in the East Coast where we're from. tldr; miserable wait times, excellent deep dish pizza, overwhelmed waitstaff. When in Chicago, you can't pass up the opportunity to get deep dish. This was my first time trying deep dish pizza in Chicago. I had it once before in California, but I wanted to try the real deal. Decided to go to Giordano's because this location was closest to our hotel. We were seated right away and were told that the pizza would take around 45 minutes to cook. We ordered a Mediterranean salad, wings, and arancini to keep our hunger at bay. The salad was super basic, the wings were a decent size (buffalo sauce was standard heat) and the arancini (fried balls of dough filled with risotto, Italian beef, and giardiniera) were crispy and had some good spice. The deep dish was just okay. It was huge, filling, and had some major cheese pull, but didn't have a lot of flavor. The copious amounts of cheese and sauce overpowered the small amount of pepperoni that came with the pizza. The crust was also flaky, similar to that of a pie. Based on this experience, I wouldn't get deep dish again, but if you're in Chicago and want to try deep dish, Giordano's is a fine option. read more

We got 2 pizzas and the calamari, The calamari was decent flavor wise but had some French fries littered among the squid which leads me to believe they don't really have any quality control. The first pizza was a thin crust which tasted like it was straight up frozen and had such an awful after taste. Having just gotten off an Amtrak coming from Denver, we were in need of some good Chicago Deep Dish style pizza, and that's exactly what we got! Our family has loved Giordano's pizza for 25 years. When my kids left for college, I would ship them pizzas for birthdays and special occasions. Last week when I did this, however, the pizzas were delivered to the wrong resident at my daughter's apartment complex (who was traveling, and the pizzas went bad before they were found). I contacted Giordano's about the issue, and they responded that the pizzas were delivered within the 2-day timeframe, so there's nothing more they can do. Apparently, "misdelivered" counts as "delivered" to them. So be aware that if you ship their pizzas and have any issues; Giordano's will not be helpful. read more
