We ordered a small deep dish pizza and were able to get half and half. We got bbq chicken and the meat pizza. We were told it would take 45 min to an hour so we also got the Greek salad to share. It actually took just a half hour so that was nice! There was so much cheese and the sauce was on top as is the traditional deep dish pizza. We each had two slices and took two home. On a recent trip to Chicago, I was urged to try the official deep dish pizza. I was a bit skeptical since I do love a thin crispy crust with all the toppings. That being said, I took the advice and tried a Chicago favorite. Concierge suggested Giordano's since friend and I were going to the Navy Pier. Giordano's does not have to be looked for. It's just inside the door of the pier on the left. My only concern was what to do with left-overs. No need to worry! The menu from Giordano's has many dishes and sizes to work with any size appetite. I ordered a deep dish pizza with spinach, feta and artichokes. I can honestly say it was tasty. The personal size pie is perfect for a single person although the menu says it's for 2 or 3 people. I would suggest if you wish to share a personal pizza, you may want a side salad to make it a full meal. (I was able to eat 3 of the 4 slices.) The dough of this pizza contains buttery laminations making the crust not quite like a regular pizza, but almost like a pie crust. Pizza is known for it's "pull." If you wish, the waiters will take a picture of participants who wish to have the pull documented. read more

When in Chicago... Gotta get deep dish 'Chicago style' Pizza! Giordano's is our family favorite of the genre. At Navy Pier, they have a great system of allowing you to put your name in for a table, text you when ready, and also "pre-order" your pie since it'll be 45m or so for the pizza! I killed time at the bar (open seating!) while the fam shopped the stores around the pier. Nice selection of drafts and friendly tenders there. Got a text the table was ready faster than I could pre-order, (text provides a 5min warning for the group!) and we all gathered in time to be seating. More great service and friendly staff as well - ordered up a pie and some salads and an appetizer (had to kill the 45m somehow!) Everything came out good ('Family Size' salad can easily feed 4+ folks), and then the pizza! Awesome good and even a picture of the initial cheese pull to boot! There was a long line (45 mins wait time) but since we were just two people and agreed to sit outside, they gave us a table immediately. We didn't actually want to eat here but when our original place fell through we opted for the Navy Pier eatery. I have nothing against Giordano's but they give me a chain restaurant vibe and I wanted my family's experience to deep dish to come from a family restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised with the staff, food and price. The hostess was a little rough around the edges but I liked that character she brought. Our server was amazingly cute in personality. She made us all feel welcomed and warm, even as were unsure on what we wanted to eat or drink. The food was really good. We ordered 3 pizzas and each one was equally delicious. We also ordered calamari and a ceaser salad. All good. The price surprised us because we were a party of 8 and the bill feel under the $200 belt line. 3.5 stars as I'm sure they are just taking advantage of the location. As we were on a tight schedule I ordered a small sausage to go just to compare it to the Lou Malnati's I had eaten a few days ago. It's good pizza and I know the debate is going to be all personal preference. Giordano's does stuffed pizza while Malnati's does what I consider deep dish. They both have sauce on top but I prefer Lou's because of that buttery crust. Service at the to go counter was efficient and friendly and I'm betting my pizza would have been a little better had I had the time to sit down and eat. First time eating deep dish pizza and I have to say that I am impressed. Giordano's is a chain store in Chicago that specializes in this kind of pizza. We opted for the to-go option as it takes 45 minute to 1 hour to bake a pie. The service is great as they will call your phone directly, multiple times, to remind you to pick up your dish. There is a lot of seating options around navy pier so you can always bring your food there. We opted for the Fresh Spinach Deep Dish (small - $18.70). The sauce is pretty good, there's real crushed tomatoes in it and it's not overly salty with a lot of cheese pulling action. The flavor itself is pretty distinct from a pizza and it tastes pretty good especially it's slightly crunchy crust. Would I crave it? Probably not but it's worth a try if you have never ate deep dish before. read more

I called in my order because I knew that there would be a lot of people wanting to eat in the actual restaurant. I got my pizza in about an hour after I called. I got the small Spinach Deep Dish Pizza. Spinach Deep Dish Pizza- I expected a lot more spinach in it, considering it was a Spinach Deep Dish Pizza. I loved how there was a lot of cheese of sauce. The tomato flavor was wonderful and the cheese pull was absolutely amazing. I think my favorite part about this pizza was the crust. It was thick and chewy. The small deep dish pizza fed my whole entire family (four people) taking in account that we ate some small snacks at Navy Pier. Sadly, the bottom of the crust was a little mushy and wet probably because of the steam the pizza was producing of. Overall, I would eat here again and recommend that if you come, you call ahead and order. read more

[COVID review] Overall: Giordano's quality food, but the service not so much. The good: If you've ever had Giordano's before, you know what you're getting in terms of taste, price, and options. The deep dish pizza is great (my favorite chain for deep dish) and at a pretty good price ($40 pie can feed a family of 6). The not-so-good: This crew was not prepared for COVID - they were all out of plates and silverware when we picked up our order. How are we supposed to eat it on the pier without those? Not to mention when we opened our bag there was no parmesan like they promised. Had to wait 15 minutes once we got in line because they only had one person handling check-out, who had to go back each time (sometimes empty handed). Just a poor process overall. Very very bad experience.. we order a small size deep dish pizza and it took more then 45mins to get our order. And when we ask what going with our order they are giving bullshit reasons. When ask them.. do I have to wait for the pizza or should I leave.. there answer is "it's up to you.. This place is always amazing. It is quite a wait if you don't preorder your deep dish pizza, which I didn't even know you could do. My brother thought it was definitely worth the flight to Chicago. I personally find this location better than the downtown ones because they have a pretty good ratio for toppings, cheese, and sauce. Everyone recommends Giordano's so we decided to have dinner here. The touristy mistake I made was probably choosing to eat at this location since they seem to be all over Chicago. Parking was not cheap and they no longer validate parking. The wait for a seat was about an hour which was okay since the deep dish would take awhile to bake. After we put our name down for a seat you could pre-order your pizza while you wait. Got called in about 40 minutes and got seated. Ordered the meat lovers deep dish, fettuccini alfredo w/ chicken & broccoli, and two Pepsi. Would have preferred Coke but can't have pizza dry so settled with Pepsi. As a tourist, I had to try Giordano's according to all my Chicagoland friends. I got a sausage and pepperoni and was only able to eat one piece, it was so filling. The crust was yummy and was so different from yeasty crusts. The meat goes on next, a LOT of yummy mozzarella, loads of veggies, cheese and sauce with a bit more meat. At first, my group was quickly seated so I was hopeful for good service. But then it took over 10 minutes just for the waiter to greet us and pour us water. We were ready to order by then and when we told the waiter that we wanted to order a deep dish, he said it would take 45 mins for it to be prepared and cooked. No big deal - we went for two thin crust pizzas instead. We specifically asked for no cheese on one of the pizzas since some of us could not eat dairy. Unfortunately it turned out that a thin crust takes over 45 mins for it to be made as well. Actually over an hour. We were getting kind of restless since the waiter never came back to give us updates. One of us had to flag another worker to get our server. Once the pizza came out after waiting over an hour, the pizza we asked for no cheese had cheese on it....we ended up asking to speak to a manager at this point. They ended up taking the messed up order off the bill. And to be honest, the other pizza tasted like a frozen pizza. The crust and cheese tasted so bland. The starter garlic fries were good, it's what got some of us through the long wait. I wouldn't recommend the pizza here. read more

Sorry, but this Chicago deep dish pizza is not my favorite. I love pizza, and have eaten at some of the top pizza restaurants across the U.S., but this pizza was not for me and my family. I love Several different styles of pizza (i.e. Neapolitan, Detroit, thin crust), but this particular deep dish pizza was just ok, at best. Nancy's Chicago style pizza is much better than this place. I have had Chicago deep dish at several pizza spots in GA that were way better than this pizza. We ended up giving half the pizza away to a homeless gentleman. We went to eat here last night. It was busy and they had a few call outs so that's taken into consideration on this review and not marked against them for things they can't control. The host does not need to be hosting. This is a tourist location and he was rude, uninformative, and told everybody regardless of party size that it was an hour wait. When it was 10 minutes at most. The wait was on the wait staff and food. We got a text at 7:30 that our table was ready. Nobody acknowledged us for 10 minutes. They were delivering pizzas to the wrong table all night. I got my pizza (a personal pan pepperoni) after 9 pm! They do pre-orders but we weren't told that or the importance of that on a busy night. We saw multiple people come in after us and leave before us. Our waitress was great and did her best but management needed to have a better plan and put a better host in place. My pizza wasn't fresh and the crust was overcooked. Wouldn't recommend here on a busy day or if you expect your food to arrive fresh within an hour of ordering. read more
