Was nervous to try deep dish bc every time ive ever seen it it just looked like too much. Now I will say this definitely was A LOT. But it was actually pretty good, especially the crust! Got the chicago classic and also a caesar salad on the side and let me tell you, adding some of the salad to each bite of the pizza was the move.
We stopped by Giordano's for the first time after a boat tour at Navy Pier. We were told a 45 minute wait, put our name on the waitlist, and placed the order. After about 30 minutes, we got our name called and were seated. We did not get our pizza until two hours after we ordered! Waitress assured us it would be around a 30 min wait. We checked in and think they must have forgotten our order and she apologized that the kitchen was "backed up." We were so hungry we forgot to take a photo of the pizza until each a slice in (phone did not eat first :) ) The pizza itself was good - spinach and cheese was tasty but not as much tomato sauce as Gino's or Lou Malnati's.
Manager Orlando and waiter James were extremely hospitable! Chris brought Diego out service dog some water (10) points before the food arrived. We already knew Giordano's Pizza would be great . It was as we had the double pepperoni , Deep dish and about a 35 minute wait for it to cook. The service and friendliness sets this Puzza Gem apart. Thsnk you Guys!!
Get the deep dish! A medium deep dish and a side of fries was easily enough to feed our four person group. Ava took absolutely outstanding care of us for our first time in Chicago. She even served our slices to us. It did take just under 60 minutes to get the pizza (as expected) but it was worth the wait. This place was nearly empty at 11:00am on a Sunday but then really buzzing an hour later. The restaurant itself is pretty cool and there is outdoor seating as well. If you've never had Chicago deep dish pizza, you gotta try Giordano's!
The wait time at the Navy Pier location was insane, but I do like that you order your pizza ahead of time so you aren't waiting double. Our waiter wasn't very attentive and made rude comments to our face about having to refill our waters twice (mind you it's the middle of summer and 90F out). The pizza also wasn't that great. We got tavern style, but it was very dry and there wasn't much sauce. There was also onion on 2 MAYBE 3 slices. The restaurant was super loud the entire time - not necessarily their fault but just something to keep in mind!
It's the cheese pull for me! I came here after a big workout at Navy Pier and it was exactly what the doctor ordered. We ordered beers and deep dish pizza and after the hard wok I put in, it was a great reward. The pizza was amazing, so cheesy with amazing toppings. We got the equivalent of what would be a supreme. It was a great way to end the day, and our server was wonderful. Cheers to Chicago style!
This location is at Navy Pier and it's very convenient when you want to sightsee there. There is indoor and outdoor space. I made reservations online so when I arrived I was seated right away. The deep dish pizza is very cheesy and good taste. We also really enjoyed the Greek salad and the Caesar salad. The staff was attentive. We had a good experience!
Chicago Deep-Dish Pizza [Chicago IL] The deep dish pizza is hands down the most famous Chicago food well... in Chicago! so it was at the top of our list of foods to try during this trip being it's our first time in Chi-Town! We dined at Giordano's in Navy Pier. Although outdoor patio seating was available we wanted to dine inside to avoid the heat and humid weather. We were advised by the hostess to preorder our pizza at the counter located behind her and we were to receive a text message when a table was ready. We took this opportunity to look around the shops. It didn't take long until we received a text that a table was available and we were seated immediately but the waiter just put in our order... not sure what the "preorder" was for because it takes 45 mins to bake a deep dish with its thick, buttery crust and layers upon layers of gooey cheese and flavorful toppings. Deep dish requires time, patience, and attention to detail. In the meantime, ambiance was loud and noisy, everyone just having a good time. Anyway, we waited for maybe another 30-mins or more until our 10" pizza was finally served... the Chicago Classic -- Pepperoni and mushrooms (less the green peppers & onions). Oh my! This thing looks more like a pie filled with lots of cheese, sauce, and toppings than a traditional flat pizza. I had a single slice... that was it for me, I even struggled to finish it, I'm full! We were starving and on a time crunch, so we ordered a 6-inch personal deep dish(B.Y.O) from Giordano's at Navy Pier. For toppings we went with pesto chicken, black olives, and toasted garlic. It was absolutely worth the hype, cheesy, flavorful, and super satisfying. They were super busy when we went (a lot of people had reservations or had already put their names down), so even though we got our pizza to go, it still took about an hour and a half. Luckily, we had time to explore the Navy Pier area while waiting. Totally worth it in the end. Would love to go back in for dine in next time!
Finally got to try Chicago deep dish pizza! Heard good things about this place after reading lots of reviews online. When you arrive you have to put your name on the waitlist to be seated, then, you go and immediately "pre-order" your pizza so by the time you sit its ready. They informed us pizza takes about 45 minutes to cook, and we had to wait about 25 minutes for a table anyway. We ordered a small cheese deep dish which is for 2 people. We got seated on the outside patio and our server was super friendly. He was a little too too friendly as when I wanted more water he was busy talking to other customers, but that's okay he was nice. Pizza was good, I loved the cheese and sauce. The crust was a little bland as the end but it was a good texture. I grew up going loving deep dish pizza so I was glad I was finally able to try it in Chicago! We went to the location in Navy Pier so it was pretty busy as well.
I was visiting Chicago and as I was exploring Navy pier came across Gerardo the original pair in the tomato bruschetta. The fruit was fresh not too loud and the staff was super friendly. They validate parking.
Restaurant itself is fine. My rating comes from my personal dislike of deep dish pizza. I was visiting Chicago so wanted to try it but it was as bad as I had imagined. May give this place another chance next time for a different pizza. The location near Navy Pier is nice. They have ample seating outside which was welcome on a sunny spring day. Wait time is over an hour at busy times which did not help with the overall experience. Service was minimal at best. Both the server and the host did their least.

A recent trip to the Chi brought me to Giordano's Navy Pier location. I attempted to sit down and eat but there was a 90 minute wait. I decided to just order an individual pizza to go. I was told that it would be a hour before it's ready. Okay not an issue as I can walk around Navy Pier and come back. I ordered and was asked for my phone number. Fast forward to a hour and 7 minutes later. I returned to the restaurant to pickup my pizza. I didn't receive a phone call but a hour had passed. There's a line of at least 15 people at the entrance. And only 1 employee assisting. Some of the customers are attempting to be seated. I finally saw the young man who took my order and asked if my pizza was ready! He appeared confused so an older employee asked for my name then turned around and looked in the heating unit behind the counter to look for my pizza. He handed me my pizza and I said I thought y'all were going to call. He gave a quick apology and I left with lukewarm pizza. This is an extremely busy location but they NEED a better ordering system for pickup and those that are waiting to be seated. Most restaurants have at minimum 2 lines for either option. Also invest in those little light up buzzers if you're not going to call people when orders are ready for pickup. Effective communication is essential in running a business! Nonetheless I took my lukewarm pizza back to my hotel and heated it up. I got the sausage and mushroom individual deep dish. It was delicious! The sauce was just enough and the sausage was plentiful. I do wish the crust was buttery and flaky like Lou's. Nonetheless it was worth the wait and I will be back next visit! Hopefully they will be more organized. read more

This is one of favorite pizza places. If you're in Chicago you should definitely go here. It's so good that it's always very busy and you have to wait a while for a table even if it's just one or two people, but believe me, it's worth the wait. I had a pepperoni and pineapple pizza and it was incredible as always. For dessert I had an oversized skillet cookie and it was also incredible. I did have to wait like 45 minutes including the time it took to get a table, but it takes a long time to make deep dish pizza. The tables and chairs were mostly clean (there were a few crumbs). But it wasn't gross or anything. I definitely recommend this pizza place. read more

Table wait was 30 minutes. Not what we expected for our first Chicago style deep dish upon arriving for our week. We ordered the Chicago Classic, happy to wait the 45 mins for freshness; however, it seemed it still wasn't cooked long enough - the veggies were undercooked and the cheese was all too much, lacking enough pizza sauce (as it's only on the top layer not inside), also this particular crust was not for us - it's almost like a sweet pie like or flaky-cakey like texture. It may be someone's fav, but did not hit the spot for us. Ambiance is great, easy access as it's on the Navy Pier. Service was alright. Came in not expecting much since it's a chain restaurant but I was surprised with a good quality of food. Ordered the calamari,personal thick pizza and bbq thin crust pizza. The calamari was really good, fresh,tender, and crispy on the outside. It was fried together with lemon rind and pickled yellow pepper. My dad loves the lemon and pepper, he finished all of those. The pizza dough is a bit doughy, meanwhile the sauce is more on the sweeter side. The service was great, the 2 servers tried their best serving us despite the full house. read more

Wow really good deep dish pizza today. I saw this restaurant chain reviewed on Dave portnoy's pizza reviews. This was the real deal. We started with a medium Caesar Salad and then 4 of us split a medium Deep Dish Pie. We were able to have it done half & half. We wanted the Super Veggie and my daughter and son-in-law wanted the Special Deep Dish. It was plenty of food for all of us. Keith our waiter was great. Visited Chicago for the first time for St. Patrick's day. I had it on my list to try Chicago style deep dish pizza as I had never had it. So what better place to try it then one of the most well known places to get deep dish pizza. I love the location of this place as it's just right at the beginning of the navy pier. The restaurant itself is also very nice and clean and I love the theme of it. All of the employees were super nice! They are very clear that getting the pizza takes awhile as it needs a long time to cook the cheese. I will say though, don't plan on splitting any items you get up on separate checks as we learned that they don't do that. That's the only reason I gave four stars as we asked the appetizer to be split and they weren't able to which is fine but our waiter was a little rude about it when we asked him. As for the food, we got the sampler appetizer which was very good! I loved that it came with all different types of sauces. I got a personalized six inch pizza since I wasn't sharing with anyone. This is definitely enough for one person! I could hardly finish it. The pizza was very very good! I wouldn't say it was my favorite pizza as my favorite is New York style but that's just my personal preference. It still tasted really good and I will definitely come here again! read more

having tried Giordanos in Orlando and being dissappointed, I was so refreshed to taste the real Giordanos in mainland Chicago was so much better when it is fresh and just out of the oven, as opposed to take out in Orlando. I gotta be frank - the chicken parmesean was pretty easily THE BEST that i've had - like EVER. the spaghetti that came with it was a bit sweet to the taste, but just a hint, and it made it oh so good. having tried the pizza, it's not my absolute favorite in the world, but pretty good as deep dish pizzas go. all in all, i can see/taste what the Chicago italian hype is all about. maybe next time they can do something about the 40 min wait PER PIZZA!! mama mia!!?? read more

I had always heard that the battle of the deep-dish was between Gino's and Giordano's. I had always gone to Gino's on my Chicago trips and never seemed to have the time to try out Giordano's. Luckily, since I was in town for the Chicago Marathon, I was staying in the city longer and made time for both (also for anyone trying to add Lou Malnati's into this mix, please know I've tried it multiple times and it's barely even worth mentioning in the battle of deep dish. It's gross!) I purposely went to Gino's for my post-marathon meal. I had to go with what I knew! However, we did make it to this Giordano's in Navy Pier the following night. It was kind of dead in the Pier area (it was pretty rainy and chilly out). But there was still a wait here. We put our name in and had about a 45 minute wait. What I appreciated though is that the hostess let us know that the pie itself takes about an hour to cook. So she made it a point to allow us to place our order at the same time we put our name in for a table. Which is genius efficiency and much appreciated for us since we were so hungry! I definitely enjoyed this pie and it's different from Gino's. Whereas Gino's is really "gooey," Giordano's comes out as a "clean cut slice." You don't have to fork and knife this pie the way you do Gino's. I'm not sure if they just let the pie sit longer when it comes out of the oven or what their secret is, but it is good. I did enjoy the pie and can see how this is a close race between the two deep dish titans. However, Gino's still edges out Giordano's just a tad IMHO. I just prefer Gino's rich, hearty sauce and their slightly sweet crust. All this to say that Giordano's is SOLID and for sure a great choice whenever you're near one in Chi-Town. Would for sure go back but Gino's still holds the crown for me. read more

Let me start off with Keri! She absolutely did an amazing job. She went above and beyond with her service with me and my friends! From the moment we were greeted and welcomed in, until we left and guided us out. She definitely knew the menu and gave the best recommendations! The pizza was AMAZING!! It was definitely worth the wait about 30-45mins. The experience here was great. Great walk close by to the Navy Pier & Downtown. Props to Keri and everything she did for us. This is my 496 review for yelp. You can check my history, I don't give out 1's or 2's often, so when I do, it's legit. We came here today, Saturday August 3rd to try the touristy spot Giordano's. We actually got there just in time before a huge line formed. When they're on a wait, you pre order the pizza at the Togo stand, and tell them the wait you were quoted. It's a really smart idea/concept. I wanted to ask a few questions to the lady at Togo, but she acted like I the customer was a burden. Honestly getting treated like that to me, is 100% disrespectful, if I'm being overly polite, and doing nothing wrong, why the attitude? We then were called about only 30 minutes, halfway through the quoted 1 hour wait. We got a nice spot outside to sit. Our server then took a while to greet us and get our drink order and take the rest of our order. Our salad came first, Caesar to be exact, excellent. Then the spaghetti next, my father in law, & kids loved it. Deep dish next. Man the pizza was really good. Crust to me would make it too much to eat as it's very thick pizza to begin with. Most pizzas they make, at least deep dish have dough, then cheese, then toppings, then marinara. Now is where the fun started. Server never came and checked on us, saw him a few times, but he never came over to ask how the food/drinks were. Time went by, more time, got up and went to ask a co worker of his if they knew where he was. By this time it was easily 20/30 minutes since we finished our food. First server says give me 3 minutes, he'll be back, never came. Next the girl who was taking orders in Togo when we arrived was pre bussing tables, I reluctantly walked up to her to ask for help. She says give me a minute, then comes back outside with a asst manager and two other workers, they all do or say nothing about 10 feet away, a few times looking over at me. Like I didn't just ask her for help 2 minutes earlier. Like are you serious right now? Unbelievable!! Finally the asst manager acknowledges we've been standing there like a couple lost schmos and comes over when I ask him if he could help us. He goes inside and comes back with our correct check, we go inside, pay, get our box, & bounce. The place has great food, & will always draw people because of their rep for that, especially at this location as it's on the Navy Pier. But the service was trash, it's been a long time since I've had service that wack. You can tell they're understaffed, and probably just don't care about customers to be honest as we're going to be there more then likely once here as a visit from out of town and it doesn't affect their bottom line. If the business owners dined with us as secret shoppers they would've been embarrassed by that display today. I could've dealt with the long wait, but to have the buck passed like three times after I intentionally asked to be helped was ridiculous. This 1 Star was 100% earned. read more

I visited Chicago solo last month and had the absolutely best time ever here. I sat at the bar and was able to chat to up with the bartender and crew as they worked. The service was awesome, deep dish even better and drink was on point. When I ordered the deep dish, I appreciated the bartender explaining the cooking timeframe so it wouldn't interfere with any plans. 5 I will definitely visit again so save me a seat at the bar. read more
My fiancé and I went to Chiacgo specifically to eat a deep dish pizza. Crazy, I know, but we are from the East Coast and we're tired of Brick Oven. We visited the Chicago Bean and then were ready for some pizza! We chose Giordano's based on their great reviews and decided to give it a try. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was inviting. But, the pizza, did not knock my socks off like I thought it would have. We ordered a deep dish pizza with meatballs and sausage and the toppings were in the middle (which I think is standard for deep dish pizzas). It was not too flavorful, although it was very cheesy, which is to be expected. I would probably give deep dish another try. read more

I went to the Navy Pier location. I gave 3 stars because it was just "okay" for me. Nothing more, nothing less. It was my first time trying deep dish and I love sauce on my pizza, but it wasn't anything to rave over at all. I got the chicken sausage and veggie. Besides the fact that it takes 45 minutes to come out, it just tasted like regular pizza. It's nice to try in Chicago, but don't set your expectations very high because it's just regular pizza. For appetizer we got the sampler. It came with mozzarella triangles, wings, and cheesy bread. The cheesy bread was the best thing at the whole place. California is lucky I already had my return flight booked home as otherwise I'd hang my hat in Chicago long-term for Giordano's Pizza alone. With just a few hours left in Chicago, I asked the hubby if we could enjoy deep dish pizza one more time. We decided to spend a bit more time at Navy Pier so it played out perfectly that there is a Giordano's at the start of the pier. Despite it being a Tuesday, the wait for a table was approximately one hour; however, they do allow guests to pre-order their pizzas as they take about 45-60 minutes themselves. As soon as we were seated, our food would be ready. This pizza is phenomenal. It has all of the elements one could look for in a deep-dish pizza: great cheese, crunchy crust, tasty sauce, and delicious toppings. There is an ongoing debate about which spot has the best deep dish in town and I am proud to cast my vote for Giordano's. Just know that just as Rome wasn't built in a day, good deep dish pizza takes awhile to bake. Be patient and take advantage of all the great shops in Navy Pier as the oven does its job here at Giordano's! The house salad was excellent too! This is our first time here in Chicago and deep dish pizza is in our list. Our first stop is Giordano's, love the location of this place (Navy Pier). The restaurant is nice and clean, staff were very friendly. We waited for 30 minutes to be seated and ordered the pizza in advance, probably because it takes time for it to prep and cook. We ordered starters like chicken wings and calamari. Both are very good and highly recommended. The pizza taste very good! I have only been to Uno's in Chicago before. However, everyone said you have to hit Giordano's. This location is at Navy Pier. I started off w/ a small Giordano's salad ($5.25). Afterwards, we shared a small meat more ($26.25 | pepperoni, salami, sausage & bacon. First of all, the salad was big for the price and packed with goodies. The peppery arugula contrasted nicely w/ the salty parmesan and sweet cherry tomatoes: 4 Stars. Likewise, the pizza was packed w/ meat and was far better than the poser deep dish places we have in CA. I ate three slices and it was prolly one slice too much. The only downside was I thought the crust could have been more buttery: 4 Stars. Regarding the ambiance, this is a small location. Nonetheless, the chair configuration is flexible so you can seat several small parties, or larger parties by combining tables: 4 Stars. The service from the hostess and kitchen was mixed (the hostess initially wouldn't separate us into two tables for two, and the pizza took an hour). However, Myosha our waitress made up for any shortcomings. She was super friendly, informative & attentive. The hostess could use some lessons from her: 5 Stars for Myosha, 3 Stars for the slowness of the kitchen, and 2 Stars for the hostess. I heard there are four good deep dish pizzas in Chicago. I've been to two of them and have been very pleased. Now I need to hit the other two. read more
