And also the cook was cooking without a mask!!! Told them to forget my order and that they have lost my business. Small restaurants are hurting. We were leery after reading some of the reviews. My fiance and I went for dinner tonight and boy were those bad reviewers WAY off! We ordered the penne vodka and Bruschetta Pollo (chicken). They were both very good and the portions were huge. We both took a little over half of our entrees home. We didn't order an appetizer because we filled up on the complimentary delicious, warm bread and infused olive oil. Yum! Ended the meal with coffee and chocolate cheesecake torte. My fiance doesn't usually go for cheesecake, but loved it! Prices on here were about accurate. Some of the appetizers and entrees were $1 to $2 more, but well worth it. We spent $41 total for a nice evening out. As for the service...it was great. We were greeted and seated right away. We had drinks right away and never once had to ask for a refill on our sodas. Bread basket was always full and our salads were out in about 5 minutes of us ordering. Our entrees arrived just as we finished our salads. And the place was busy, too! I am not a huge fan of Italian food but my husband wanted to take me out for a nice dinner. Our sitter cancelled at the last minute and instead of us breaking our plans we decided to just bring the kiddos along. Okay first of all, we have 3 boys ages 5, 4, and 2. I was worried when we first arrived because it seemed a bit dressy and my boys couldn't stay "dressed up" for more than 5 minutes before they start tearing off clothing. I was quickly put at ease by the friendly hostess and our waiter who was equally friendly. The bread was great and my egg plant parmigiana was great. My kids had the spaghetti which must have been delicious because all three cleaned their plates (which is rare). My husband said probably 2 sentences throughout our dinner because he was so busy eating and I believe the sentences had something to do with how good the food was. We will definitely be going back, alone, so we can try out the wine menu and have that nice quiet dinner we were wanting on that evening. read more

I couldn't even stay to place an order. This place has been going downhill for a while now. But I enjoyed it so much 4 years ago I decide to give it another try. I'm seated and given a menu. I had to wipe the seat off to be able to sit down. So Many Crumbs.. Immediately I'm regretting giving this place another try. I open the menu. Covered in more Crumbs, grease and food chunks smeared across the pages. Just absolutely filthy. I'm telling myself it will be okay, I'm going to wash my hands as soon as I'm done touching this menu. Met friends there this past Thursday evening. I have to admit, I too was a bit intimidated by the mediocre or poor restaurant ratings. Happily, I did not have that experience at all. The restaurant is located just off of Linglestown Road and is on the corner, parking is close and easy. It is not an overly large restaurant, but it is nicely decorated and diners have space from one another. The restaurant is BYOB. I made a reservation, and it was handled professionally and warmly. When we arrived, we were seated immediately. Our server was training a new server, and they both were exceptionally attentive and efficient without being annoying or disappearing. Service was excellent. The bread served is AMAZING! I usually do not partake of bread baskets, and I had two pieces. I ordered the Gamberi Fra Diavlo and had an garlic, olive oil base and an arrabiata sauce that had a nice little zing. Medium shrimp accompanied lobster ravioli pasta. House salad with a large choice of dressings was offered, and dressing comes on the side. I enjoyed the entree immensely, and the salad was fine. My dining compatriots ordered cheese ravioli and the other the chicken and portabella salad. Both looked really tasty, and disappeared about as quickly as my entree. I would like to try their wood oven pizza, a table near us ordered one, and it looked amazing. I definitely want to explore this restaurant a bit further! Go, make up your own mind! read more

I went again after a long time and now they are not serving pizza for dinner... but they still make it to go ... which I don't understand. Bummer!!!! They are trying to make it a high end restaurant but somebody has to tell the owners that ain't going to happen. There food is not that good, the menu is boring. I've been going to this nice little Italian place for I would say about 7-8 years and I've loved it every single time. The bread is amazing, the food is fresh, the owner is very personable and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this place if you like Italian they have a great selection on their menu. Service was pleasant enough, but the food was unexceptional. Meatballs were tasteless and red sauce bland. Risotto special did not have asparagus as promised, but something green and unidentifiable. Updating my review after yet another visit. This is not a place I look forward to. Last night, it was 4 tables(!) of screaming kids and some of the worst Chicken Parm I've ever tasted. It tastes like they first marinaded the chicken in salt, breaded it with salt, and cooked it in the Dead Sea (saltiest sea in the world). Pasta was stuck together. Chicken Parm is the simplest thing to get right. Giotto tries hard to get it wrong. Anyone who thinks this is good Italian food never had good Italian food. You like Olive Garden to I bet. read more

If I could I would give 2.5 stars. I've been here a handful of times. It was better when it first opened. The food that I've had has been good, but I don't think it can compete with some other places in the area (you can get better food at any of the nearby pizza joints) Last time I was here, the service was HORRIBLE and at prime lunch time we were the only table. read more

Tried this restaurant for the first time. I must say, I will not return. Upside, food was delicious (once it made it to the table). Downside, service was terrible. Waited 15 minutes for the server to come to the table and waited an hour to get my food. When it was brought out it wasn't what I ordered so I waited another 15 minutes for the right dish to be brought out. No manager came over to apologize and I was given a $10 gift card for a $14 meal. I was vary of going here due to some of the reviews I read, but I really enjoyed the food the three times I've even here. My boyfriend and I have chosen pasta or seafood dishes every time we have dined at Giotti's. His favorite thing so far was the salmon dish that is served with pasta. We also liked the appetizers that we have tried: fried cheese triangles and bruschetta. I would recommend making reservations if dining on the weekend. We went there for dinner last night... It was our first visit. After being seated we sat for about 20 minutes without being acknowledged by anyone. A group of four at the table next to us, who were seated after us, received menus... Drinks... And food all before anybody acknowledged we were there. We were literally on the verge of walking out when someone finally came by and asked if we had been helped. She responded quickly and soon a server came by to get us started. My wife had the veal marsala which she liked; and I had the shrimp scampi which was also very good. I've ordered pizza carry out a few times here and it's been very good. So, decided to try the entrees. My Wife got Seafood Vodka and loved it. Lots of seafood in that dish. I tried the Cozze Positano and was disappointed. It had the clams (10) and the veggies in it but they must have forgotten the crab. I looked all through the pasta and found maybe a half of a teaspoon of crab. Someone made a mistake. That's what stinks about ordering higher-end dishes on takeout. Am I supposed to inspect the dish when they hand me the bag? Wasn't worth the $17 without the crab. read more

Been here many times, but the last time was very mixed. Came here early on a Sunday with my family. The place was empty. On the plus side, 4 of the 5 entrees were very good. On the minus side, my father-in-law ordered pasta with shrimp and scallops. We asked where were the scallops after his entree had been served and were told that they were out of scallops and that they had substituted crab. This could have been a catastrophe if he were allergic to crab. As it was, he did not enjoy his meal. Another minus was the music/radio being played. It was way too loud and there were commercials! Wow what a disappointment! We used to go here years ago and the food was fresh, delicious and quick. Staff used to be friendly and this place was always packed. We went back this evening after maybe a year and got take out. The calamari smelled days old, the pasta sauce was oily and gross and the lasagna looked like a brick with sauce all around it. My fiance and I decided to try Giotti's since we live down the street and hadn't been there yet. Service wasn't terrible, but it did take about ten minutes from the time we were finished eating until the time the girl asked if we were finished - it was clear that we had been for some time. Food was just eh - I couldn't finish my eggplant ravioli due to lack of flavor, and my fiance only ate a quarter of his steak panini. He took the rest home and threw it away. We definitely won't be going back, just for the sheer fact that there are definitely better Italian restaurants in the area. The food is generally good (pizza, strombolies, etc.), but prices have recently been raised, presumably a casualty of the current economic conditions. Service is usually pretty decent when I've eaten there but call in orders sometimes tend to get mixed up. As I called to make a reservation I was greeted over the phone with just a "hello"? My husband ordered the grilled chicken sandwich which he said was "okay" and I ordered the gnocchi which I have to say was the best part of the evening. It was delicious. Service was okay. Our server dashed off so quick after placing our dinners in front of us that I didn't even have a chance to ask her for shredded cheese on top. Great place! Their bread is homemade, and their pastas are outstanding; best of all, it's BYOB with no corkage. Service has always been really stellar too - they try hard, and they really represent the restaurant well. The gnocchi Caprese is my favorite, followed by their pollo chicken dishes. Bonus points for being able to order their pizza for dinner (some places will only let you order it for carryout), so that is nice. If i have a knock against the place, it's that most of their desserts come from Sweet Street, but honestly, you will probably be too full by the end of dinner to order dessert anyway, so no big deal. First i want to say that i went to Giottis for the first time based on a recommendation from a friend. From the very first moment i entered the restaurant i was greeted by Cathy. My server Susan...was terrific. The meal i ordered...linguini with clam sauce was wonderful..it was seasoned properly...and hot.
