We hired Giovacchini Construction to do a seismic retrofit on our house from the mid 1950s, and they were very communicative, on time, provided a thorough plan and drawings, and correctly managed their side of EBB grant portal (which included the necessary plan and before/after photos). They came in slightly higher priced than a few other contractors, but we were impressed with their professionalism and attention to detail in their planning work, so we strongly felt they were going to do the job to our (and to California Residential Mitigation Program's) satisfaction. My experience with Giovacchini Construction regarding my project was professional from start to finish. I had other companies provide bids based on a minor inspection from the access point. They did not build my confidence. Jesus spent an hour under the house, mapping the work that needed to be done. He then explained everything that they would do to meet the grant requirements. There was a small miscommunication at one point, but he went above and beyond expectations to make up for it Weston was the main guy working on our project and he was awesome. Ended up not closing the deal with Vince but he was super professional, honest and quick to answer all my questions.

Very poor communication from this company. I called them and explained everything clearly, set up an appointment for a Contractor to come over to assess and get a quote. Once the day came he arrived and refused to actually go up to look at our chimney up close because the grade was too steep and he wasn't informed ahead of time so hadn't come prepared. In my book, shouldn't it have been asked when I set the appointment? Then he tried to up sell some gutter cleaning. We really just needed a giant hole in our chimney fixed asap, and needed to check for water damage. He never even came to look at the water spot inside the house and claimed that he wasn't told to do so. Again, I was VERY thorough with what was going on over the phone. How many channels was I supposed to have gone through to get this simple appointment taken care of? John (the Contractor) said to just give him the approximate measurements of the sheet rock over the phone, which I did, and that he would get back to us with a quote the next day. Well, that was Tuesday and we still have yet to hear back from anyone, despite calling in to check for any progress. Thanks for wasting our time. I understand businesses being busy, but this was just downright insulting. Just happy we found someone reliable to get the job done before it starts raining. read more

I'm writing this review as a collaborator not a customer. We're electricians working with Jon Anderson, Jesse and Orlando on a project in Sebastopol. At every turn, when we needed some help, these guys were there to lend a hand. I'm impressed with their values, their professionalism and the commitment to quality work. Orlando even stuffed some holes in the drywall with steel wool to keep out the critters. Even though we were all working under a short fuse, these guys seemed to just go with what the customer wanted and needed even it her choices weren't in GioCo's best interests. Vince runs a small home repair/construction business. We had a shower pan leak, discovered while installing hardwood floors (not his work). He was recommended and was an excellent contractor with which to deal. He was under the house immediately and found the damage caused by the long term leak. He was quick to make the fixes (shower demolition, joists under the house, sub floor repair) and had a tile contractor for new tile installation. He was ALWAYS very responsive to requests and changes, and in constant touch. He came by several times just to check up on the subcontractor. I highly recommend him for this type of work. read more
