The online reviews weren't that stellar either, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I got the octopus dish and it was amazing! There was some purée under the octopus and it just set the dish off. I could eat that every week. I also got the truffle pasta and that was also so delicious. My friends loved their dishes as well, the lobster pasta and the scallops dish. I think the steak was the only thing that was just so-so. The service was good too. Nothing that stood out as outstanding, but they were good. DO NOT COME HERE, STAFF DISCRIMINATES VERY UNCOMFORTABLE DINING EXPERIENCE I booked this reservation weeks ago for the patio and it started raining during the time of our reservation. When we arrived I asked for a table close to the window for a view (there were SEVERAL) and they said no we cannot seat you there it is for parties of 3 or 4. They then sat us in the very back of the restaurant, yet they sat other parties of 2 in the tables I initially requested. We ordered water at least 4xs with our waiter and he never brought it. Then we just ordered some appetizers because we were still somewhat full from breakfast. Our waiter told management and they came over to tell us we needed to order more food due to a requirement they have. It never said that when I booked the reservation. Also, why didn't the waiter just inform us? It felt like the police came over to scold us. For being such a high-end restaurant they couldn't even manage to get us water until after our food arrived. -Food was mediocre. -Overall staff were extremely rude. For those who are planning to come duringbthe winter, please note that the terrace is closed during the Winter. You will not have the gorgeous view of the Eiffel Tower while dining here between the months of December - February. I made the mistake of coming here in January and was seated inside. That was disappointment #1. I ordered the seafood platter for 49 euros. That platter STANK! Disappointment #2. The oysters smelled rotten. The shrimp meat was mushy and also smelled rotten. When booking, be sure to book La Suite. Did you read that, make your reservation for La Suite or you will be stuck sitting inside. If tourist spot was in the dictionary, it would be Girafe, it is stupid expensive, but drinking Champagne, with this magical view is worth it and service is very American! I don't know why people have bashed this place. It is super popular. It is one of the best views of the Eiffel Tower. The food was delicious. We had a hard time securing a reservation for 8. We are a large family and wanted to give our kids a great goodbye meal. There were no spots for the evening, but we came for lunch. Service was excellent. The drinks were delicious. The Oysters and the lobster ravioli for appetizer were delicious. The lobster pasta was delicious. My husband and son shared the catch of the day. It was a large fish. Location & views - this is 100% what you are going here for and it is amazing. This was on our radar early in our trip planning process and reservations are both required and competitive. We ended up reaching out to our hotel concierge before our trip to ask if they'd be able to help and secured us a reservation at 10pm. I know - very late, but having a late lunch, a drink at our hotel bar and an Uber to watch the Eiffel Tower sparkle was worth it. Due to our late reservation, it wasn't super busy and we were able to be seated outside. As expected, other diners were also tourists and our staff, even though we opened with French, spoke English almost immediately. Service was quick and easy, but let down really came from the food. Nothing spectacular or flavorful here, in my opinion - I had the filet, my boyfriend ordered fish (believe catch of the day sort of offering), a side of mashed potatoes and green beans along with cocktails and wine. Called the restaurant multiple times at different times of day and could never get anyone on the phone. Sent multiple messages to their Instagram page but no one answered me. Made a "Reservation Request" two months before requesting to visit but never got a response. Emailed the restaurant and was told I can only make reservations two weeks before. Came back to the website two weeks before and their was no availability until 10pm. Emailed the restaurant again and was told they don't have any availability until 10 pm. Let me start with the good. The truffle pasta was really good and so was my shirley temple (the only mocktail worth getting anywhere). The server was great. The issue here is the blonde girl at the hostess stand and the manager. The hostess insisted I didn't have a reservation, was rude and dismissive. When I pulled out my email confirmation she insisted the confirmation didn't go through. Escalated to manager. He found me a cozy spot at the bar, and even he got the same treatment from the hostess when inquiring. He didn't apologize for the inconvenience either. In what world does that happen? Hostess needs to be re-trained on hospitality. Once I got to my seat, there was a couple who had the exact same issue as I did, but a different hostess actually made arrangements for them at a restaurant down the street. They wanted a proper experience so they took her up on it. It was my first night in Paris and I was tired, so I was fine at the bar because I didn't feel like finding another spot to dine at that evening. Also, they conveniently do not answer the phone if you try to confirm yourself as a double check the evening before. I know because I tried. I also noticed that myself and the other couple who had the issue had the same ethnic background, and I'll leave it at that for now. Overall, I wouldn't return. I will admit that I made a mistake in making my reservation. I accidentally made it for La Girafe instead. Blame it on chemo brain. I just finished 2 1/2 years of cancer treatments and was very much looking forward to this dinner. I was told to wait until all reservations were checked in to see if I could get a table. While I waited, a couple with reservations for 2 asked it to be changed to a reservation for 4 and they were allowed to do so. I was told there was no table for me at that point. I don't understand why they were allowed to add two additional people to their party who did not have reservations but I was turned away. read more

I was excited for a nice dinner with my 20 y/o daughter during our mom-daughter trip to Paris. I made a reservation, putting down my credit card that would be charged 50 euros per person if we didn't comply with their 24 hour cancellation policy. Just about 4 hours prior to our dinner reservation, I received an email from Girafe, stating, "For your reservation, we have arranged a dinner at the counter, a prime spot to observe our chefs at work. You will experience a unique culinary journey, fully immersed in the art of cooking, in an atmosphere reminiscent of the lively counters!" This wasn't a culinary experience at all. We sat at the very small quiet bar, without a view of the Eiffel Tower. I feel it was unpfrofessional to tell us about the seating arrangements so late (after the cancellation policy and just a few hours prior to our reservation). When I immediately replied to the email requesting a table and even suggesting our reservation time be modified to ensure a table, we got no response. Upon arrival, the hostess explained it was because they were full when we made our reservation - well, then that's the time they should have notified us. It seems like the same happened to a couple that came in dressed beautifully for a special night out; they actually left upset after sitting at the bar next to us and not having any waiter greet them for over 15 minutes. Anyway, we ate there. Our waiter was very nice, but seemed to give more time/attention to his tables, rather than his bar patrons. It wasn't the experience I hoped for. No pre-communication about terrace being closed or short staffing and or over promising seating. Over heard the manager saying they have 300 seats outside and 200 inside. They weren't really good at trouble shooting this, argued with costumers instead of offering later reservations, it took a few minutes for the manger to offer this. The prices are inflated for tourist, food quality is ok. Got a recommendation for the tuna appetizers, it was slices of tuna with burnt ponzu sauce, it was good but not worth the money comparing to food back in the states. The burrata salad was awesome. Really lovely experience. We had a reservation for 7PM and arrived about 10 minutes early and there was already a massive line outside. After a bit of waiting, we finally got indoors got seated on the beautiful terrace. They opened right at 7 and everyone got seated at the same time, so our server was taking care of at least 5 tables and was noticeably busy. The service was slow in that sense, but we weren't in a rush! I ordered the grilled octopus, which was outstanding, one of the best octopus meals I've ever had. this place is amazing. It's located in the museum and has a perfect view of the Eiffel. You can spend the morning walking through the gardens and have a nice lunch. It's interesting a lot of reviews talk about it being a tourist trap. Obviously the location is to die for but the food is superb on its own. You definitely need a reservation. We lucked out with probably the best table in the house in the corner with the perfect view. The tuna, yellowtail, and sea bream were fresh, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. If you had to go with one- I'd go with the tuna or yellowtail but it's a tough toss up. We got an assortment of oysters and they were on the larger side with plenty of algae of the shell, yum! The lobster ravioli only comes with 2 pieces and although it's good, it's prob not entirely worth the price. The cod is delicious and simply done with a light and complimentary sauce. Service is a bit slower, it's a French restaurant after all where people relax and enjoy the pass time of food with good company. We had a party of 7 and was able to make a reservation within 2 days on their website. We actually made 2 reservation, one for 2 and another for 7. We called the restaurant and they were able put us together. The restaurant had us sitting on the rooftop. It was a very hot day and the large umbrellas provided much needed shade. The bad thing about having the umbrella was it blocked a clear view of the Eiffel Tower. About the food. It was tasty and different. Not necessarily bad different but different. I ate mostly the steak but I tasted everything. The only thing I thought was kind of tasteless was ravioli. Everything else was great. We were there for over 3 hours. I thought they oversold the view of the Eiffel Tower. The umbrellas really took away from the view. When you go to take a picture you are standing amongst people dining there and I felt awkward. This place is overhyped. I've had better food and service at other restaurants nearby. Make a reservation, but understand that this place requires you to purchase 1 main course per person. My wife wasn't hungry at the time and we refused to order food to just toss it. They kindly asked us to leave because we didn't order a main course. I would say that there is a bit of discrimination against those those aren't French speaking. Do not come here for the view, you can see it on the other side of the fence. Since the Eiffel Tower doesn't light up until 11pm unless you plan on eating at that time. Enjoy a French baguette or a pastry from a shop instead. They were offered a seat at the bar, and that bar had limited seating. I don't think they'd accept walk ins. The service was good, but we were placed behind a hedge that limited the view of the Eiffel Tower. That wasn't ideal considering it was our 20th year wedding anniversary. Please be aware of that. Also be aware that it is very cold and there are no patio heaters! I kept my coat on the entire time. My husband ordered pasta which was okay. I ordered the sea bass and it was really good! It was a slow meal, but that's how it is a place like this so I didn't mind too much. If you want quick service and don't want to wait then this might not be your best choice. The ambiance was great. Nice upscale vibe, featuring both indoor and outdoor seating. I did find the restaurant to be quite small and we were seated really close to another table and were forced to overhear their conversations, that was quite unfortunate. Luckily they left just 20 minutes into our meal. The food was delicious. We had a good variety of dishes. Artichoke appetizer which was fantastic and I highly recommend giving it a try. The lamb was delicious and tender. The Cod was great too, but I think the winner was for sure the lobster pasta. It was insanely good, and I recommend getting it over anything else. Overall, Girafe was a fantastic experience. All the reviews calling this a tourist trap and mention of terrible service are true. My gf and I were seated at the bar, which is fine but were told no more seats were available in the dining room. However, shortly after we saw other parties of 2 brought to the dining room. Based on how all others placed at the bar were American, I'm guessing there is somewhat of a nationalist bias. When I asked why we weren't given a table when others who came after were, the manager julien could not give a clear reason.
