    Brown, wilted lettuce

My family and I dined at the Brown Derby (Medina location) on Friday evening with a 5:15 reservation. We arrived on time and were seated promptly, which we appreciated. Our server was pleasant; however, the overall experience felt rushed. While it was a Friday night, the restaurant was not on a wait and there were many open tables, so the pace felt unnecessary. Both of my children ordered the steak-on-a-stick from the kids' menu, requesting it cooked medium. My husband and I each ordered steak salads. Our children's meals arrived quickly, but when we cut into the steak, it was clearly undercooked. When the food runner returned with ketchup, my husband politely mentioned the issue. She appeared confused but did take the meals back to be corrected. The food was returned prepared as originally requested. Shortly after, our salads arrived. While my steak was slightly overdone--which I didn't mind--the condition of the salad itself was extremely disappointing. The lettuce was wilted and browned, giving the impression it was far from fresh. Aside from a portion of hard-boiled egg, nothing on the salad appeared fresh, which was unacceptable given the price point. Unfortunately, this was not an isolated experience. The last four visits to this location have all been subpar. Each time, I've hoped it was a one-off, yet I continue to leave disappointed. I genuinely dislike speaking negatively about a local restaurant, but when spending over $150 on a meal, I expect better quality and consistency. At that price, there are other options that deliver a far better experience

Fantastic service by Natalka Elegant interior and very clean. The T-bone steak was a big disappointment! For $27.99, we should have received a tasty meal. It was It was less than 1/4 inch thick and very grizzly! I should've sent both of them back, but who wants to wait another 25 minutes for a the meal. I have never had such an awful steak in my life. Thank goodness I didn't spend the $37.99 for the ribeye, Just in case it was as bad as the T-bone. I typically give only good reviews, but I needed to point this out to people so they don't waste their money. I will not return to this Brown Derby. Next time I want to go to a chain restaurant, I'll just head over to Longhorn. Shame on you Brown Derby Medina for such a crummy piece of meat.

Been here a bunch and the food is good, except the burgers which they never get right. It's like they put the newbie on burgers. I've had a lot of the other dishes and they are good. Bar staff is always great and they make good cocktails. I will be here again.

Average service and average tasting food We went on a weekday with children. The restaurant was only about half full and the service seemed kind of slow for the number of people there. The menu has a nice selection. They have a kids menu and the portions were very large. I ordered a smothered chicken and it was dry with not much sauce. The guys enjoyed their burgers.

Appetizers, meal-quality, and serving was excellent. Even though the price is a little high, the food is worth the price.

I love this place! A little disappointed that they no longer have a bowl of salad sent to your table. Lobster tail was great.

Meh. Service was fine, but food was not good. Friend's steak was overcooked and I don't even know what I ordered because it had no flavor.

My friend and I overstayed and we were never kicked out (sorry my guy, the wine was flowing so the convo kept flowing) I had a sauvignon blanc to start which was crisp and delicious. I really should've taken notes on what the wines were because they were so good. Then I had a Pinot noir, also delicious. The sweet spicy pretzels paired perfectly with the wine.

The ambiance is cute with a few different tables and a communal table for couples/ singles. Bottles of wine adorn the built in library walls and it does seem cozy. I love the original typewriter in the bar area. We sat at the shared table, pulling up QR codes for the menu. We had to flag the only one person serving the entire bar down so that we could order drinks and food. She took our drink order, and then probably about 30 minutes went by after we were eyeing her left and right, it was clear to us that she was too busy or not making eye contact because she couldn't keep up with what was happening. Or at least I thought. After watching her have a full-blown conversation with the other person working there up at the bar area, we finally were able to get some food in, as my bf flagged her down. Olives for $7. A couple had pits that they missed I guess. But only about 12 olives total. Absolutely ridiculous. The BBQ chicken flatbread? Perhaps not. The dough was like a matzoh cracker. The chicken tasted like bland boring boiled chicken. After having been there for about 45 minutes with no food and only a couple of very strong Manhattans that were not well made, I was starting to get loopy so I wolfed down the flatbread even though it tasted like garbage. While I think this spot has a lot of potential, the service was so lackluster in the cutest of little towns, I would not come back.

That's the fun of dining in a hidden speakeasy restaurant. I'm used to only finding them on my trips to Vegas so to discover one close to home was like hitting a local jackpot! We walked in Mattioli's Pizzeria and knew to look for the secret entrance. The only downside was we arrived at the same time as another couple so we didn't get the joy of opening the door for ourselves. (Next time) We walked into a completely darkened room and found a hostess who asked for our reservation and then escorted us to our table. Definitely a speakeasy vibe. Lights down low with just some minimal table lighting. Classy decor and just the right touches of comfort and secrecy to the vibe. We looked over the menu and placed our order. We got a salad and the pizza cupcakes for appetizers. Delicious! If you go do yourself the favor and get the pizza cupcakes! You get four of them and you can choose the variety you want. Of course I picked four different ones and loved them all. We ordered three different pizzas from the menu all of them were happily eaten. The crust is light and soft with a good taste. The pizza all with different sauces, cheeses and toppings yet each flavorful and delicious. We may have over ordered just a bit but who doesn't like to take leftover pizza home? Besides it was just as good warmed up on day 2. We did have some little homemade type sugar donut balls that our friends ordered for dessert. Can't remember what they were called. Nothing I would go out of my way to order but they tasted fine. Just not my type of dessert. The bar seems extensive with lots of handcrafted drinks. Took a video of the waitress torching a crème brûlée martini. Lots of fun to watch them craft these drinks. We sat around a very comfy table that made us feel like all we were missing was a fireplace and we'd have been right at home ready to curl up under a blanket and take a little nap after a good meal. We would definitely return and look forward to doing just that in the future.

When we finally wanted to make a move to go during Valentine's, it was temporarily closed. Alas, we had to wait until the end of year for my birthday when it reopened to try it out. So I my anticipation and expectations were quite high at this point. This place really is more like a 2.5 star BUT I wanted to sprinkle a little recognition to the very solicitous (and attractive) servers as well as available parking. This place is billed as a French restaurant but their updated menu was completely devoid of all French items. This was a major bummer as I love French food and style of cooking. No duck, escargot, confit, nada. It was a bland menu with common Italian dishes. I ordered the pasta carbonara for my entree and was thoroughly disappointed. They used bucatini (while this is one of my fave pasta shapes) which is all wrong for carbonara. There was a lack of sauce as you can see from the picture and no eggy flavor at all. It was drenched in parmesan flakes and they didn't even use guanciale or even pancetta! The portion was too small for a pasta dish and for the high price. Our appetizer of pork belly was delish but I would've gone easier on the frying. BF's entree of spatchcock chicken was great as well. I ate a lot of that instead of my entree... Not impressed that in a place like this, they asked if we wanted to tack on bread service for $5.99. Wow, they can't even include it like most restaurants? Non merci! I look forward to going to a real French restaurant a lot closer to me with real French dishes and perhaps even free bread/rolls, literally SOMEthing. The newer one in Chagrin Falls looks tempting and authentic!
