Visiting family from out of town, and so we tried this place on their recommendations. Bad idea. Spaghetti and red sauce is patently the THE most simple, "Italian-American" food you can make, and they made it as conventional as possible. To be fair, it was just very mediocre/OK meat sauce with perfectly cooked spaghetti, but WAY overpriced for what it was. Think school cafeteria spaghetti and you won't be disappointed. The minestrone soup was so salty I could barely taste the vegetables. Pepper was the other stand-out flavor. I ate about 1/8th of it, and the waitress didn't even bat an eye or ask about it when she took it away. Guess she knew how bad it was. Mom had the ravioli in the same red sauce. Nothing stand-out here except the price. It was just your standard re-heated, frozen cheese ravioli. Ho hum. There were about a trillion of these types of "old fashioned/family style" restaurants where I lived in the Metro Detroit area as a kid, but they all went out of business over time as people started cooking more for themselves and learning what real Italian food is. We went back and had another great experience. This time, we ate in. Our server was great. But on to the reason we're all here....the food. Ok, listen, the portions are big, and this should be obvious when the menu says you can split an entree for $2 more. We had bread sticks and the little sausages as appetizers, and that was really enough for 4 people or so, along with the antipasti. The bread was so soft and the sausages were really good. They need to sell their homemade sauce. It's just that good. Our main courses were the combination with lasagna and meat Ravioli. The lasagna was delicious and perfectly cheesy. The Ravioli was just ok. I don't normally get it, so I might just be off base. The Chicken alfredo was creamy, and they actually seasoned their chicken. We found this little spot online as we headed out to Multnomah Falls and decided to stop in to fill our bellies before we got to hiking and exploring out in the wilderness. After seeing some pictures of the food we decided it would be in our best interest to stop in and give this spot a shot! There are places like Giuseppe's Italian that reminds me of my most favorite spots in Austin that are now gone (RIP Vinny's Italian) with the home-feel from the decor, the green-lined booths, and the delicious and piping hot food that gives me a serious food drools when I think about how great our food turned out to be! Plenty of seating inside for large groups as it was evident when we dined in and there was a party of 8+ people celebrating a birthday. Service was quick and super friendly. Our needs and wants were checked-in periodically even though it was a slow afternoon. I appreciated our waitress so much as she made some solid suggestions and even explained our antipasto starter (that is free!) when she delivered it to our table. Our food came out piping hot and was delicious to the last bite from our leftovers (that we devoured later on after a night of drinking out in the town). There is nothing to not get. Oh and their blue cheese dressing next to saylers is some of the best in Portland!! You start with a carafe of the house Chianti, an order of garlic cheese bread and go from there. We were the only customers in the building, which makes one pause! But having said that, the antipasto plate came along with our drinks and it was a meal in its self. Val's ravioli were excellent as was my spaghetti with sausage, almost more than we could eat, and of course we had salads, not much to say, they were salads, the blue cheese dressing was as good. So, I've never been here but this place is amazing. This is what we call "local small business." This isn't corporate: Olive Garden/ Spaghetti Factory. They have amazing pasta, bread, meat/cheese trio, dessert was amazing! We had tiramisu which was amazing! My friend got the spaghetti with meat sauce which was really good too! Everything is just FRESH & it feels like real genuine Italian food! Minestrone was delicious! Overall I recommend this place! There isn't one thing you could probably order that you wouldn't like. Service was prompt! Very accommodating for a large party. We had 7 during Covid-19 so they sat us at two different tables but semi close to where we could still chat. Staff & guests are wearing masks until you're seated. Seating is distanced! Staff is friendly! I highly recommend. It's not the best area but it's worth the trip/ price. This is my third time going here the other 2 times we sat in the lounge and the service was great but last night we went and the service was bad. Yes they had 2 very large groups come in and all there time went to them. We waited for everything but the salad. We went for the first time for lunch. It wasn't too busy and we were seated right away. The place was clean and tidy. It was very nice for lunch. We got the fettuccine Alfredo Giuseppe and the manicotti and chicken Parmesan. The Alfredo sauce was amazing! So creamy and perfect season. I did get it with chicken however next time I'd probably skip it just because the chicken was lightly breaded and the temperature of the sauce made it texture kind of soggy. The manicotti was so good. One thing I really enjoyed was that the food was HOT. Nothing worse than cold pasta and this place was right on the mark. Will be back soon! read more

And I have no idea what that plate of rudimentary cut cheese sticks and greasy round slices of meat were.....we honestly thought it was delivered to us by mistake! But service was so bad we didn't want to risk asking. And in case anyone is looking for a janitorial position: this place is a PIT. This is a perfect place for reliable, old-school Italian food. You can find very satisfying portions on the senior menu, and much larger quantities on the regular menu. My 'regular' portion of Chicken Parmigiana made for a very filling dinner, plus two follow-up lunches. Back in 1989, a Burt Reynolds movie called Breaking In was filmed in Portland, with one location being the Monte Carlo restaurant. The Monte Carlo was chosen because, at the time, it was already an anachronism. That restaurant burned down over 15 years ago, and is now the site of the Goat Blocks development. All of this makes me happy that Giuseppe's has been around since before Breaking In was made, and before many Yelpers were born, and they continue to provide solid, very enjoyable food, and no surprises. read more

We got our first Giuseppe's pizza a couple of years ago, and we've been back many times! At first it seems a little spendy, but the pizza is HUGE. The box is ACTUALLY HEAVY. It's delicious, and when you ask for garlic, they are not shy with it. The hosts are always polite and the pizza never takes as long as they quote. Well I have to say I was greatly disappointed tonight. My son and I LOVE the pizza here. It is actually one of the better pizzas in town. However my wife and I came for dinner this evening. She wanted chicken Parm so I had the beef ravioli. It was served to the table with a slam. I thought maybe she dropped it but then my wife's was served the same way. After which the bread was tossed down. Just rude. First my Ravioli was awful. There was a very generous portion but what good is that when it tastes bad. The ravioli was bland, like little undercooked pasta squares. The sauce was like a cheap tomato sauce over spiced with a pungent spice. My wife's chicken parm was a very small chicken breast with the same crappy sauce. The worst part was the 24.00 price tag that came with it. NO VALUE. IT WAS EMBARRASSING.
