I have been a patron of Giuseppes's for 40+ years. Always delicious. The last 2 times I've have ordered it was on a Thursday evening. The first was lasagna. It was old it was hard in spots not warm in spots. It was not what I was use to getting from them and I have had it many times before. Very disappointed.last night I ordered penne with chicken and vodka sauce. There was maybe 5 bite size pieces of chicken the pasta was over cooked it was dry hardly no sauce. The salad the onions were old they were so strong you could smell them through the plastic wrap. The olives were mushed. Just another bad meal. I don't know if it's the Thursday crew that can't cook and the quality control is getting bad but they need to fix it fast because they have a lot of competition with excellent food and I would hate to see them loose my business and my family and friends. Great food and service. Have gotten several sheet pizzas for our family during COVID and they're always excellent, lots of toppings and great sauce. Simple no-frills family owned Italian place with great prices! Came here for a business lunch and fell in love with their calamari and house-made gnocchi. I do wish I wasn't such a pig with the calamari (I was hungry), since I was kind of full by the time my ginormous plate is gnocchi rolled out. While I did consider packing it to go and carting it on the plane, I decided to retain what was left of my ladylike facade and walked away from the little pillows of yumminess. I've had the catering and it's always been a hit at the office. The red sauce is a little on the sweeter side (which I do like and if you don't, can counter with some Parmesan and/or crushed red pepper). The Chicken French is spot on. I do recommend this place and they show a lot of care in their catering which to me means the world when the catering represents you. I needed emergency catering for loved ones after a funeral...in 24 hours. I called and spoke with Marcie who connected me with Jenny in their catering department. Jenny (and Marcie) were so kind and patient. They even offered delivery service to our family's home after the funeral service, even though they were swamped with other deliveries all over the city. I have been to Giuseppes for lunch before and loved it. The Friday night fish fry was a disappointment. Three of us ordered this and all three said the fish tasted watery and not like haddock. Whoa! I feel like with all the different restaurants everyone writes about in Rochester, someone would have definitely reviewed Giuseppe's. It is a little hidden gem in the plaza where planet fitness is on Spencerport Road. They have a take out part of the restaurant where you can order pizza, wings, hot and cold subs, delicious fresh bread and some delightful sweets. Then they also have a sit down area where you can relax and have some home made food. I know Rochester has their fair share of Italian restaurants, but that is why I am so picky with the ones I go to. If I am going to consume an abundant amount of pasta and sauce, I am only going to go to the place where I know it is the best! Giuseppe's has, by far, some of the best sauce I have ever had! Sometimes red sauce can be very acidic, but not here, have no fear, you won't need tums after you leave here. Also, their fried calimari is always seasoned perfectly and golden crispy. My mom usually order about 10 to 12 lb. of it for Christmas Eve! They have a great other Italian classics-you can't go wrong with anything you pick. If you are not in the mood for pasta, then definitely get the steak sub! Something that a lot of restaurants miss when making a steak sub, is seasoning the meat. They think they can chop up steak, throw it on a bun with cheese, peppers and onion and you won't notice- but you do. The steak that Giuseppe's uses is great and the bread is out of this world! They also have a pizza, wing and salad buffet that is dirty cheap offered during lunch hours! They have all their bases covered when it comes to great food! Haven't been for a table service meal but skip the brunches. Very disorganized and wasn't seated till nearly an hour after our reservation time. There's 2 seating areas and the food was located on the other side of the restaurant forcing us to push through the waiting crowd to get to it. Took multiple trips to get some items as they didn't replenish quickly. The food on the buffet line was ok, not great. Soggy potatoes, steamed eggs, undercooked bacon. Had excellent catering and wanted to try the restaurant. Called on a Saturday afternoon to make a reservation for a group on that same evening. Very nice phone call! Only to arrive five minutes before the reservation, check in referencing our reservation and my name- and then after waiting ten minutes, be told they don't take reservations and the wait would be at least 30 more minutes. Hostess told us they never take reservations. So, we didn't stay for dinner. So. Perhaps change the website and yelp that claim you do take reservations. AND, perhaps tell people on the phone when they call to make reservations that you don't take reservations. read more

I remember this place when my mom used to treat me to a Butter Steak Sub over 40 years ago! They moved and expanded and WOW!!! What a great hidden gem located in the back of the plaza where Lyell Ave meets Spencerport Rd. Dinner was amazing. Growing up Italian I never order sauce out because no one can make it better than my Grandma........ I was wrong Giuseppe's sauce was fresh and favorable and the meatballs (all beef) tasted great and melted in your mouth. I can't even speak about the handmade Gnocchi, so light and tender. We had Gnocchi Joseph and Gnocchi with sauce. The greens and beans were fantastic. Large portions even the half portion was Huge Rochester Huge. And all for .... are you sitting down?? $40 And on the way out I had to try the apple and berry blossom and a Sfogliatella.....And guess what they were excellent also... oh yeah they were baked fresh on site. Yeah.... I've begrudgingly been back since my last review. What the hell was I thinking giving them 3 stars? The service has gone to hell. The food continues to meh... the red sauce is still saltier than an old Irish pirate just starting some shore leave. The chicken parm is way over breaded and over fried. The Buffalo Chicken sandwich is basically the chicken parm but rolled in Red Hot and butter... When I am dragged there because my associates and partners want a $9 sit down lunch, I try to decide what I will dislike the least. Don't expect a refill on your drink.... Or your food quickly.... Or your food at the same time as your colleagues... Or food that won't give you the odg later. One star. I'd give them a star and a half, but only because I'll still eat there because some of my colleagues don't mind it. read more

Zero pride in what they sell, especially to food that will be presented to a group of people. Beware of any restaurant that has zero pride in the food they sell. Went here with some friends for dinner. This was my first trip there. The food was out of this world. This was the closest red sauce that I have had to what my family makes.....Anywhere. The chicken french was perfect. The calamari with banana peppers and olives were very tasty and the portion was large. We were seated right behind the swinging door to the kitchen. A terrible location to dine. The salads were small with insufficient dressing. We were never asked or brought more bread after finishing what was served. With the Chicken Della Casa, I wasn't given a choice of a second side because the flavorless, dry, chicken with artichokes was served over angel hair pasta with a teaspoon of marinara sauce on it. The pasta was my second side. The Chicken Salvatore was good. This was very disappointing. We didn't even want to risk having dessert there because we didn't want to have it be any worse than it was. Had Italian sausage patty sandwich. Excellent. Gnocchi? Excellent. Side salad was good (for ice berg) they dress it up pretty good but the blue cheese had way to much mayo. Steak subs are good too!! Dinner was great! Chicken French needed just a bit more sherry for my liking but still good. My husband had stuffed shells.. delish. The service was outstanding. Pretty sure are servers name was Ricky? I think that's what she said. She was right on with timing and checking back. One small negative thing Which really is not a big deal but there were plenty of girls standing around while I was standing at the door not one person greeted us or said anything as we were standing there. I've been going to this place for a few years now and they even catered my wedding. Their food used to be amazing every time, in recent months it has gone down hill. Biggest problem I have is consistency. Across the board. I typically get the spaghetti Bolognese. Last few times, it's tasted different (this past Sunday it was terrible), consistency was different each time. The chicken French was extremely bland. They have a great steak sub. It's large, loaded with meat, very tasty- but again- it's been inconsistent. Their menu is large, decent pizza, gnocchi is very delish. I do think their prices are much too high for the portions however. I will likely continue to order food from here, just not as much anymore. read more

I can't say enough good things about Giuseppe's. We used to love going there for dinner and even though we don't get to as much these days, we always use their services for catering. Hands down best caterers in town. We order every year for our kid's birthday party as well as any other large family gatherings. They are always on time, or early, helpful, and accommodating in whatever set-up you need to get the buffet going. An example of their awesome service: had a family party today, forgot one of our family members is gluten free and cannot have gluten items due to health reasons. Nothing I ordered for the party was gluten free. An hour before the delivery, I called to see if they could add a gluten free meal, and within minutes she had it ordered and it came right along with our regular catering order. Everyone I have ever worked with there on an order has been really friendly and they will make sure you have a good experience. And did I mention the drivers? Those guys couldn't be nicer if they tried. If you've not been here for a meal, go! If you've been looking for a top notch crew to help host your next event, look no further. read more

My boyfriend and I went here a couple weeks ago for a movie and dinner date night. The proximity to Tinseltown makes it a good choice for that. Our waitress was attentive. They kept it moving all throughout the meal. We both started out with large, fresh house salads. They were tasty...my only complaint is that I would have liked croutons on them. There was also bread for the table and homemade garlic butter to spread which was unique. I ordered a very interesting dish--chicken French topped with eggplant Parmesan and red sauce. It was delicious and came with two large chicken breasts, so I took a whole one home for leftovers. My boyfriend (who tried mine) and I both agreed that the sauce was perfect--not too salty, not too lemony, etc. It also came with a little side of pasta. The sauce was good--but I didn't even really need pasta at that point. My boyfriend had the chicken parm which was absolutely huge. He had enough for leftovers too. He seemed very happy with the taste and quality of the dish and the huge portion. For the price, it was a good deal. We did enjoy looking at the dessert counter on our way out. We got some chocolate chip cookies for the road and a cheese and chocolate chip cannoli. Both were good enough but my boyfriend felt that he overpaid for the cookies since they were about $5 and not really out of this world. We might definitely come back some day.c read more
