5 Stars for Food and 4.5 for Atmosphere Our dinner at Glass Onion Tavern in Weaverville, NC was a true highlight--each dish reflected the perfect harmony of tradition and creativity that the restaurant is known for. We began with the calamari and peach gazpacho soup, both beautifully presented and bursting with fresh, vibrant flavors. The gazpacho was especially refreshing--light, summery, and unexpected in the best way. For entrées, we enjoyed seared scallops over creamy corn polenta with asparagus, and braised Italian sausage with linguine. The scallops were expertly seared--tender, golden, and perfectly paired with the sweet polenta and crisp asparagus. The sausage and linguine dish was hearty, comforting, and packed with rich, savory flavor. Dessert was a classic crème brûlée, flawlessly executed with a crisp sugar shell and smooth custard beneath. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a rustic charm that speaks to the restaurant's history and local roots. While the space leans more cozy than upscale, it adds to the laid-back, welcoming feel--and allows the exceptional food and hospitality to truly shine. Glass Onion Tavern is a gem in the Weaverville dining scene, and we look forward to returning soon.

Love the new vibe at the Glass Onion. The atmosphere seemed more relaxed and friendly with the new owners. Same great staff. We both felt that even the other guests seemed more at ease. The food was absolutely delicious and filling. For starters we chose Seafood Bisque which my hubby said was perfect and the best he'd ever had and I had the Bosc Pear and Roasted Beet salad and it was sooo good...the flavors were fresh and outstanding. Our entrees were Italian Sausage and Linguine and Risotto Gnocchi with Roasted Chicken. Both expertly prepared and plated. For dessert we shared the Coconut Cake and couldn't have made a better choice. Definitely will return and highly recommend.

We had the seafood ravioli and the ribeye steak. They started with hands down the best garlic rolls we've ever had. The Mrs loved the seafood ravioli in a tomato cream sauce and o ordered my rib eye medium rare and it came out slightly closer to rare which was perfect for me. This is the first but not the last time we will be here. The service was top notch to boot!

We ordered the truffle fries, which were good. They gentlemen that took our drink order told us about the specials and recommended we order the swordfish and the scallops. Which my husband ordered the scallops and I then ordered the swordfish. The scallops were delicious but only got 3 and the price was $42. The swordfish was mediocre at best. I was able to eat it as nothing on my plate had a taste of anything. Definitely don't recommend the swordfish at all. This was our anniversary dinner and I am disappointed. The restaurant was clean, friendly staff but too many servers with nothing to do but stand at the back of the restaurant close to our table. Which did make us uncomfortable. There was only 3 tables and there was over 5 servers standing with nothing to do plus the servers actually working and other staff.

What a special, cozy Christmas Eve dinner at Glass Onion in Weaverville. It was perfect from start to finish!! Festive holiday decor on both the outside and inside. Low lighting provided such a warm and inviting environment on a cold holiday night. For appetizers we ordered the calamari and a cup of the seafood chowder soup. Both were devoured quickly - I tried the calamari and it was a delicious salty bite and was cooked to perfection. Our server also brought out a dish with three of their garlic rolls....YUM!! It was definitely the garlic roll I inhaled that ruined my appetite before our main course arrived :) There were many entree specials to choose from, our table ordered the Steak special (I think it was a filet) that came with green beans; the Fish special on a bed of saffron rice; and the Rigatoni with Bolognese sauce. Every dish was delicious and there was a nice variety of entrees to choose from between the menu and the nightly specials. We all had to-go boxes as we were absolutely stuffed from all the delicious food! Will be back very soon!

This place was absolutely delicious and a nice halfway meeting point between my girlfriends in Asheville and me in Mars Hill. . We went on a Wednesday around 6:30 pm and got a table near the windows. The staff was great, food and drinks delicious. . I chose a glass of pinot noir, house mixed salad, and pasta with locale sausage and black kale. YUM. . We also ordered two desserts, the tiramisu and coconut cake. . I got to sample all of my friends dishes, and the only thing that was just "okay" was the pasta bolognese. But that wont deter me from returning when im in the mood for great Italian food and atmosphere.

We had great service. We started with the caviar appetizer. This consisted of caviar atop a crispy layered potato tot with creme'. It was delicious, albeit expensive for the portion size. I could have had a plate of those as my meal if the price was not so steep. My husband ordered the Elk (when in Rome!) and I had the Scallops based on a recommendation from the bartender in our club lounge. Both were excellent, but my husband's elk stole the show. It was worth every bite. It had the same crispy potato as the caviar set up and was an excellent pairing. Perfectly cook cooked to the chef's recommendation with a lovely reduction sauce to complement the meat. No "gamey" moment in the slightest. Super fresh! It was a great first experience with elk. My scallops were also impressively cooked to perfection. Not overdone- which I find restaurants guilty of doing all too often, and usually leads me to not order scallops. They were accompanied by a butternut risotto, fresh mushrooms and a sauce that escapes me. The portion size was appropriate for that price point. We did not have room for dessert, but we managed to sneak in an espresso martini and an old-fashioned to top the night off.
