A rock hit my windshield right at the top edge behind the rear view mirror, did not see the crack until the next day when the crack migrated 6 inch down and 6 inch across. Called Glass Tek and was able to get it replaced the following day. I drive a Subaru Outback with the Eye system for auto breaking, etc and would need to be recalibrated. Otherwise, I could have gotten it changed immediately, and it comes with life time warrantee for workmanship and part defect, and recalibration, if needed. read more

Although over the last 4 years I have received great service from Glass Tek with windshield chip repairs and replacement, today was different. I had an expired Groupon, of which the promotion had expired, but of course all Groupon users know the value never expires and can be redeemed. The visit started off with a quick consult from the tech and he offered the required warnings about chip repairs. When I entered the office and spoke with. Megan, I let her know first that I had an expired Groupon. Her response was "we don't have any Groupons". Not really a relevant answer. A call to her manager did not yield any better results, so apparently staff and management are unaware of how Groupon works. The fixes were completed promptly, I paid the full price, and left. Groupon ended up crediting my account. So an A+ for the technical work and staff, but a C for customer service. read more

Here's how much glass was left in my car after picking up a small box sitting on my front seat, I had asked the shop to make sure there was no glass left in the car because it was my dog and I getting back into it and I wanted to make sure we were safe, after apologizing and going over it with the vac once again while I waited, this was the end result. They asked me to post something on yelp! So here is the truth, if you expect them to do anything other than put a window in your car you are going to be disappointed. I had one small shallow box with 250 papers that I had just ordered in it on the front seat, the glass was on the box and all this on the chair underneath, the glass was also in my cupholder, and small shards of glass were elsewhere through the car. The car was not vacuumed with anything other then a shop vac quickly, if it was imperative for me to remove the small shallow box and the yoga towel and single cup, the items left in my car after it was completely vandalized in order to not drive home in a dangerous situation, then I feel I should have been told to do so and given a pair of gloves. read more

I used Glass Tek to replace the windshield on my Honda Accord. I scheduled an appointment over the phone for the next day. Made in China glass tends to get a bad reputation. I asked over the phone what brand they would install on my car. I was told they would install an OE USA made brand. This can be very critical if you don't own your car and are leasing. Be sure to check your contract some leases specify what type of glass to use. When I arrived I was told it would take an hour and a half to complete the install. No problem, I had my laptop and could get some work done. After an hour and a half my car was still sitting in their stall without a windshield. They apologized and told me their glass deliveries were late. When my glass arrived after two hours. I went out to see the windshield get installed. That's when I noticed the sticker on the windshield that said made in China. I didn't really mind being that my car is over 10 years old. But why lie to your customers. Their employee was talking on his cell phone the whole time while doing the install. He used no rubber gloves. Dust and rubber shavings were blown into my car. I had to vacuum it out. The bottom right-hand rectangle on the windshield that allows you to see the Vin number was set too high and now my vin is unreadable. I like to do things right and I'm a very particular person. This place pays no attention to detail. Beware! I wouldn't do business again. read more

For whatever reason, I am cursed with being pelted by rocks while driving. Most of the time, the rocks hit my windshield. I have had my car windshield repaired or replaced every 2-3 years for about 15 years now. My windshield was last replaced on 9/2018 by Safelite in Concord, CA. As the cycle goes, I had a rock hit my windshield on 10/3/20. It immediately spidered out and was right in my line of sight. I called GlassTek in Alameda, CA. Megan and Luis were AMAZING!!! Megan has phenomenal social skills and integrity. She treats people the way she would want to be treated if her vehicle had glass damage. She looks out for the consumer first. Luis was incredibly skilled at his craft of replacing windshields. I did not see the same quality of workmanship when Safelite replaced it on 9/2018. Drove my brand new BMW coupe to la and back and before hubby noticed little rock chips (3-4 of them), I took Rubea aka Bea to GlassTek. Nice young man checked her out and tells me that rock chips had no cracks and that he'd have to create one... he assured me they look tiny enough as if they're water spots, so it's ok if I don't get it fixed, he doubts it'll get big but if it does, they're there for me. My Nissan Armada named Becky, on the other hand, suffered a rock chip as soon as windshield was replaced. That was repaired in the same shop, but a bigger rock chip appeared and seems to be growing! After driving Bea home and taking Becky to see the nice young man, he checked out fixed crack and says another appeared close to it and the big one I was referring to. Basically, there were three point of impacts. He said the first two were so close that once he fills with liquid, he'd make sure it goes to the other crack. So he did and instead of charging me for three, he only charged me for two. Plus he saved me some money on Bea and gave me some peace of mind (hubby never noticed, by the way, but I'll never drive her on I5 ever again). When it's time for new glass (for either Becky or Bea), I'll definitely come back. Their professionalism and workmanship are worth coming back for! Ps. Same day appointment and fast! This place is a preferred service provider of my insurance company and they had availability on the same day of the call for glass repair. I even called to see if I could bring my car in earlier because my afternoon cleared up, and they said come. They helped me right away, called me about 20 minutes later to say they needed to order a part and do the job the next day, and when I called back, they'd already reclaimed the needed part from another job and started the repair. 35 minutes later, I got a call saying my repair was done. She's amazing I highly suggest asking for her to help because I was sent back and forth by other workers with my claim first saying i had an appointment scheduled already.. came to find out I didn't (Megan who is a life saver helped me get an appointment asap) after that, my rear window was not placed correctly not sure if it was because it wasn't the original branded one or what but I called back to complain as I could hear the wind coming in, the person on the phone made it seem like I was crazy by saying that it was a replica window made by the same people who made Toyota windows and basically they just didn't have the logo and that it wouldn't make a difference, I asked them to order the original glass as that's what I pay my insurance to cover and they told me they would order it and give me a call when it arrived to schedule a time to get it replaced... waited a week or so and kept calling to get an update but nobody would answer so I decided to call Megan from the number she originally called me at and she answered super fast and let me know they hadn't ordered it but she immediately ordered it for me and sent somebody out to my job to replace it within 2 days from speaking to her, now I hear no wind coming in and have the original glass. Total scam! Way overpriced and Marcel and Megan will flat out lie to you to get your deposit for the glass. They just got me for $150 deposit on a $410 quote for that small window connected to the back passenger window. The claim that it's "special ordered" when anyone can order it. Marcel also claimed that the window is a special tempered glass that takes a long time to install and can't be done via a mobile service. Lol. The glass is not special, it just gets bolted in within 25 minutes. Don't let these fraudulent people get you like they got me! Oh and Megan hung up on me after I called her out for speaking to me in an unprofessional manner and being rude. Because hanging up on a customer is super professional! She was very defensive and seemed to know exactly what to say as if they deal with this on a daily basis, customers getting educated and calling back asking for their deposit back. Update: Marcel refunded me the $150 deposit after i told him about this yelp review. I said I'd remove the review but I just can't. Thanks for the refund, but people need to know that he's giving false information. All he could explain to me was his deposit policy and would not address his misinformation or the rude receptionist. I assume the reason why he wouldn't address her is because he wants her to act like that so that people just give up on getting their deposit back. And check out Marcel's response below. I had great experiences with GlassTek in Alameda over the course of 6 years and 3 different cars, and have deep appreciation to Megan at the front desk and the former owner, Marcel for work well done in the past. As a 20 year resident of Alameda, I regularly referred friends to Marcel's shop. However, last week, the new absentee owner of the business did not contact me regarding damage done to the front grill, hood sensor and hood release latch during the 3 hour replacement of my windshield. When I got the car back the technician acted like he didn't know about any of these issues even thought the grill frame was falling out of the hood and the hood sensor was lit up on the dashboard. I have requested a call back from the new owner twice over 4 days and he has not shown any effort or sign that he is willing to help resolve the problem. I am left with no choice but to submit a report to State Farm for the poor service. read more

At 5:35 on a Friday, five minutes after they closed, I pulled in with a shattered windshield from a friggen boulder I took on the 880. It was so bad that when I turned, glass sprinkled across my dash. At any rate, the staff stayed open, ordered me a new windshield, vaccumed the glass out of my car and gave me the first appointment the next morning. They were great and went above and beyond. I recommend them for outstanding customer service, professional installation and a real quick turn around. For such a lame experience (a boulder almost coming through my windshield while coming home from work on a Friday night), they made it the best it could possibly be. This place is awesome!! My husband and I both had issues with our car windshields (my car had a chip plus a long crack at the top edge, and his car had a small rock chip). As other reviewers had mentioned, Dave and Marcel are great - so friendly, professional, and helpful. The first time we came, Dave contacted our insurance companies over the phone for us, and were able to confirm that insurance would cover the rock chip on my husband's car. Unfortunately, we were unable to get the chip fixed that same day, because the insurance company required an agent to check the chip first. However, I went ahead and got my windshield replaced (for $175), and was extremely happy with the results. Took about 1 hour to replace, and Dave called me as soon as it was done so that I could go and pick it up. The next week, we came back and got my husband's rock chip repaired (100% covered by insurance). Marcel did a great job - the chip is barely noticeable now, and everything was done in under 10 minutes. Highly recommend them! read more
