Once upon a time, on a rather normal night out in SF (which included an open-bar house party with MJ tribute music followed by a quick Tommy's Joint stop for the road) I returned to a gaping hole in my car where once was a nice tinted window...the remnant little shattered pieces along with the weapon of mass destruction covering the back seat and shockingly my laptop bag untouched. My biggest flood of worry at this hazy point in time was not why they hadn't taken a single thing, but because that ghost of a window and vehicle actually belonged to MOM (so i used "my car" loosely in a famillial term). Needless to say what dire consequences lie ahead me, I was 'tis the season to be extermely fortunate because I had it repaired THE VERY NEXT DAY in less than 1 HOUR at Glass Tek by the attentive and professinal owner Marcel. The brand spanking window looked and operated like new, and they even vacuumed up all the evidence as a standard safety operating procedure. From the quote to installation everything looked great until I looked In the car on the ground and found glass still on the floor. First off, I forgot the lady at the front desk name but she was very good to me. She has great customer service skills. I came in for a windshield replacement, the process took I would say two to three hours which wasn't bad for me. The guy that worked on my car went above and beyond they're job duty I would say. Got a flyer for the sop at SouthShore carwash (my windshield was cracked). Got an estimate through their website. Called to make an appointment. Spoke to Marcel on the phone. He started asking about windshield type, rain sensor etc, so I was ready to see the original estimate go up... But nope. Came in, windshield was already in the shop waiting. Got installed right away (by Dave, if I'm not mistaken). In less than an hour I was on my way with new windshield. Best part? $198 installed with taxes. Dropped my car off in the morning and within a few hours the windshield was in and I was on my way. These guys are awesome. As part of regular service they remove the old windshield, scrape down any rust and install a new windshield complete with weatherstripping for from what I can tell a great price compared to other outfits. they have a storefront so are not a fly by night operation. All this done in an organized, no nonsense way within the hour that I dropped into the facilty on Part St. Alameda. Plus work is guaranteed except of course for rocks but they do repair chips. So I find the car I want... but it's in of all places Mississippi. Cool... this means a flight out and 10 day road trip home! We zig zag the trip back over ten days and over 3,000 miles. We are 10 miles from home and a missile rock detonates a chip in the windshield. Argh. We call two places higher rated on Yelp and they both say $50 bucks with a future appt time needed. We then call GlassTek and Marcel answers and explains the services of most insurance plans on window chips and says he can do the work later in the day (timing was good - I get that's a part of this positive review). However, he not only did a good repair job, he took care of all the paperwork and payment in about 10 min. No fuss on my part at all. So, of all things just three days later - another whap bamm on the windshield followed by a symphony of color commentator prose from my lips.
