After being a loyal patient of Glazer Dermatology for more than 20 years, I am beyond disappointed by the way their Med Spa handled my daughter's laser hair removal package and the complete lack of professionalism we experienced. When my daughter purchased her package, we were clearly told that after completing the included sessions, touch-up treatments would be available for $25 per body part. That promise was a major factor in choosing this practice. Now, without any notice whatsoever, they have eliminated that agreement and are charging full price -- which would amount to nearly $800 for the same touch-up appointment. When I called to speak with Lee, the Med Spa manager, I was shocked by how rude, dismissive, and unapologetic she was. I asked why patients were never notified of such a major policy change, especially since the office constantly sends promotional emails and text messages. Her response was that they "don't have the ability" to notify patients -- which is simply unbelievable for a modern medical practice that communicates with patients weekly. What was even more upsetting was her attitude. When I asked how they could make such a drastic change without warning loyal customers or at least offer one final touch-up appointment under the original agreement, her exact response was: "We can and we did." That level of arrogance and disregard for long-time patients is unacceptable. I then respectfully asked if one of the physicians, including Dr. Glazer, Dr. Kozeny or Dr. Fretzen, could return my call. Lee refused, stating they would "absolutely not" call me back and would not even allow me to leave a message. This experience has completely changed my opinion of this practice. Loyal patients who have trusted this office for decades deserve honesty, communication, and respect -- not bait-and-switch pricing and rude treatment. I would strongly caution anyone considering cosmetic packages here to get everything in writing and be aware that policies can apparently change overnight with no notice and no accountability. read more

The laser hair removal did not work for me. I think it's the type of laser they use. I went to a different place that had the YAG laser and it worked great. I think their laser just doesn't work on my skin tone. read more

I wish I had checked the reviews here before scheduling an appointment. I had developed a mysterious rash on my leg. I visited a GP, who prescribed a cream, but his prognosis was incorrect. I checked my insurance, and found Dr. Glazer had an office near my home. I called to make an appointment, and was told that no doctors were available. But, that I could see the Physician's Assistant. Arriving for the appointment was trouble free, as I had checked in online beforehand. The Physician's Assistant was not able to identify the rash by sight. She had two different nurses look at it, but they also only had opinions. She finally found Dr. Glazer, who was also unable to identify it. They performed a biopsy as a way to identify the cause. And, gave me a prescription for a different cream. I received the biopsy results about a week later, and was told that they were inconclusive and asked if I could come back. At my second visit, the cream had improved the rash, but it was still present and had continued to spread. They suggested another biopsy. I received the result after another week, and was told that it was an allergic reaction. And, given a prescription for yet another cream. I was generally disappointed with the inability of the staff to identify the cause of the rash, particularly after the first biopsy. And, I found the cost of care to be outrageous. Especially, when paying for everything twice (consultation, biopsy, prescription). I will look for a different dermatologist, should I need one in the future. read more

I scheduled an appointment for a lesion on my arm 6+ weeks in advance at the advice of my PCP in November. I showed up early on the day of the appointment in December to complete paperwork only to be told that the practice had no record of my appointment. This was a waste of my time and also disrespectful. Needless to say, I will find another doctor. That was a waste of time and effort. read more

Dr. Kozeny always does a nice job removing my keratosis every couple years. Never any scars. I prefer his Arlington Heights office. The staff is very friendly and I am in and out within a half an hour. read more

I have been going to Glazer Dermatology treated by Amy Brownlee, PA and I can't say enough good things about her work, attitude and personality. She is so dedicated to making everything right. If you go for a treatment of anything, if it is not to your liking or hers, she does it over and N/C. Glazer Dermatology came recommended by friends . I have been very happy with the professionalism and attention to detail the office staff has on all 3 visits. Being that it is a busy practice , I thought I might be sidelined with long waiting periods . That was not the case, as I was seen promptly on all 3 occasions. First off I've been to two of this offices of this company. The office and in a hospital had better than this location. The receptionist when I was signed in that my insurance had changed. I was well aware of that I because of my mom's work merger. As a persons with Disabilities and living in a group home. It hard being on different insurance that's taking forever to get to me. The receptionist didn't buy that I had insurance. My mom told the receptionist I'm a doctor. I have customers experience in customer service over time she became rude. It took 3 different people to get a straight answer. Before she told us the answer before I help the next customer this is what needs to be done. Dr. Fretzin , is the most arrogant Doctor I've ever meet on my life. He told me " To answer the question" as I was explaining it. As a person with Disabilities we tend to give longer answers or questions. He was bitching about that a "nurse" should be in the room scripting his appointments. I had told him that I needed a doctor's note that goes to my group home for medical purposes until IL State Law. It's also supposed to be typed he had his nurse type it vs handwringing. My mom said to him I'm a doctor his demeanor completely changed. As a medical professional company you must consider all peoples walk of life. Dr. Glazer was in a hurry and very unprofessional! He walked in the room, in the middle of the nurse examining my legs (rash) and said what's going on? The nurse explained the rash on my legs, he then glanced at the rash on my legs from about 4 ft away and said "bug bites" the nurse then questioned him in a surprised manner and said "you think those are bug bites!?" I said are you sure because I was sitting on my couch with pants on when I started getting all these itchy spots on my legs that eventually swelled up. He continued to only say "bug bites" repeatedly. I also explained that I am being observed for signs of lupus and needed to know for sure because this could be a symptoms. He then seemed annoyed and said "fine we will do a biopsy" I asked if the biopsy will show if it's a bug bite or a skin irritation he said yes. I then asked "does it hurt? (Biopsy) Dr. Glazer looked at me with a blank stare and said " nothing hurts" I then said "I'm also starting to have itching on my face and ears as well" and he said "so you're going to blame everything on us?" I was shocked and didn't answer and the nurse looked as though she was embarrassed at his unprofessionalism. Then Dr. Glazer abruptly got up and walked out of the room instructing the nurse to prep me for the biopsy on his way out. I said hold on he was suppose to check the hives on my lips as well! The nurse apologized and went to get him and he eventually came back in the room, stood in the doorway and just starred at me (awkward silence) I then spoke up and tried to explained my issue with the hives on my lips and he blatantly dismissed my concerns cut me off, turned his back on me, while motionI got with his hand for me to follow him out of the room while saying "so, you ate something you were allergic to" and lead me to the room for the biopsy. By now I was shock and appalled. He numbed the area and left the room to allow the nurse to do the biopsy. Days later I get a call with the results and the lady said, your test results came back and it isn't cancer. I said "OK, well was it a bug bite?" She said "no it's just from old age. We get spots as we get older but no worries it's not cancer" I said "hold on, this was not for a spot, it was for a rash all over my legs. She was surprised and said "oh, ok, well it's not cancer" I then asked for confirmation again "so just to confirm, it wasn't a bug bite correct? and she said "correct it was more like a skin irritation" needless to say I won't be going back there. I have see doctor Fretzin several times and really liked him. Today, I called to set up appt for a child. Was told the appt was over a month out. I said thank you, but that is too far out. I'm so happy to have finally found a great dermatologist. Dr Alex was wonderful. He was patient, knowledgeable, and efficient. He removed a mole from my nose which bothered me for a long time. He took 2 minutes to remove it and you can't even tell there was ever anything there. He also recommended a product to control my KP and it has been LIFE CHANGING! I've been to several dermatologists over the past 20+ years and no one had ever given me a true solution for all the bumps on the back of my arms and on my legs. Exfoliate, moisturize, Cereve, Amlactin, etc.... I had tried it all! The product he suggested took care of the issue after 2 applications and my skin feels absolutely brand new!! I have been going to Glazer Dermatology for at least 16 years, when I developed severe pustule acne as a pre-teen. Many of my family members (mom, brother, aunts, uncles) have also gone for skin-related issues. My family members prefer certain doctors over others, but I have been fine with all of them. Over the years I have had to switch doctors because some lessened their availability, but it has always worked out OK for me. Unfortunately my acne has been an on-going battle, but thanks to Dr. Glazer, Dr. Kozeny, Dr. Brodsky (no longer with the practice, but was my absolute favorite), and Dr. Rosen, my acne is 100x less severe than it was. All of these doctors worked with me to determine which medications would work for my skin issues, and then constantly re-evaluated the effectiveness of the medications. I have been on SO MANY different things over the years, but now it's pretty clear what works with me and what doesn't. I have always been happy with their medical decisions, and feel that the doctors really consider my opinions and wishes as a patient. Last year I had my first whole-body mole check done by Dr. Rosen (my current doctor who replaced Dr. Brodsky). She removed several moles, including one on the middle of my back. That one actually tested positive for malignant melanoma, and she ended up removing a 1" deep by 2" long chunk of affected skin. That was definitely the scariest moment I've had so far - I never thought it was possible to get skin cancer at the age of 27, but obviously I was wrong. There have been times when the nurses or interns have not been entirely "gentle" during procedures; for example, during that deep melanoma-affected tissue removal on my back, the anesthesia wasn't distributed to all affected areas, and I could feel the digging of the scalpel in the middle of the procedure. They had to stop, re-numb me, and then continue. I also currently get monthly blood draws for the medication I'm on, and some nurses are not always gentle with the needle and have pushed far too hard into my veins when they're in the middle of drawing blood, resulting in discomfort even a few days later. The nurses are always friendly and efficient as possible. The reception staff has greatly improved in their friendliness over the years; some used to be pretty rude and abrasive. I'm guessing they had gotten too many complaints from patients and put reforms into place and/or cleaned house. Overall I would recommend Glazer Dermatology to others - the doctors are not only very skilled and knowledgeable, but they care about their patients. read more

went here with bumps on my neck. told them it wasn't Razor burn, they looked at it for two seconds and said it's razor burn. i now have bumps all over my body because it's Molluscum. would've taken them 2 minutes to properly look over things, catch it early and i woulda been good. now i got bumps every where. charged me 170$ total for the visit(after insurance) read more

I was only here once, but i had a good experience! It's been about two years since I was there, so review will be short, but if i go back will def update my review! I do recall feeling like the receptionists were rude, but I've come to almost expect that from most doctor's offices at this point. In my book, it's the rule and not the exception (as sad as that is)... I went in and had a few skin tags removed as well as an obnoxious little wart on my toe that i'd picked up at the gym. They were super professional, and the removal of all items was quick! They gave little injections to numb the area before before being snipped - and the needle was tiny. They did their best to do it as quick and painless as possible! Overall i was in and out - and felt like my issues were very well taken care of. It scares me all the negative reviews, but since they're just down the street, I'd definitely go here again for a similar issue. I don't recall specifically which doctor i saw, so i can't give more detail than that. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! This place cares about one thing and that is making money. After having several moles removed on both my husband and I at routine skin check appointments, I had questions regarding our bills. I left multiple messages and resorted to writing them a letter and didn't get a single response. It wasn't until I said I was calling to pay a bill that they called me back. Prior to moving here here my husband and I saw separate dermatologists who were never concerned about our moles (we are in our 30s) which also makes me think that at Glazer they remove moles just to make money. Not impressed and will not be going back! Please don't waste your time! read more

Today we had an appointment at 10 am for my teenage daughter and we arrived 10 minutes early. We had scheduled the appointment two months in advance. We watched for 45 minutes as people who had appointments after ours were taken with no updates or explanation from a receptionist who clearly was avoiding eye contact with everyone. All told, our appointment was an hour after the scheduled time. Just not acceptable. We are all busy and if an appointment is going to be this late, it is incumbent on the office to provide advance warning or offer to reschedule. We will be finding a new dermatologist that respects the time and schedule of their patients. read more

I had a basal cell removed from my face/cheek area that need 4 stitches. Dr. Glazer did the biopsy, painlessly and he also removed the cells, painlessly. Removing the cells required 4 stitches. 2 days latter I went to my primary care physician for a regular med check appointment. When he saw the 4 stiches on my face, he took a close look and exclaimed " those are beautiful sutures just beautiful - better than text book- he was impressed". Thanks Dr. Glazer for doing such an awesome job on my face. I was a bit concerned I'd have a scar but my primary care Dr., Dr. Kraggt said "IF there is a scar it will be very fine". I've been seeing Dr. Glazer for many years and I can't say anything but positive remarks. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Glazer since I have been in high school. He has been able to help me from acne issues to any other skin concerns I have developed, and I have been so happy with all the results. He is great and very knowledgable! The Medspa in his BG office provides such a large variety of treatments for face and body, that yield actual results! The girls are all kind, friendly, and informed about the products and treatments. I have always felt so comfortable getting things done. I have had a great experience. Plus, everyone is so willing to try and work with my schedule so I can come in as soon as possible. Would not recommend this doctor at all. The lady who took my appointment never asked me what I was coming in for. As I was about to hang up, I asked her if she wanted to know and her response was "I guess if it matters to you." As I entered the empty office, I was not greeted. I signed in and waited to be called. They asked to see my license and insurance card, standard. I waited about 10 minutes here. As I was moved to the exam room (for hives all over my body), the lady asked if I needed an exam gown. Interesting that you are asking the patient that question?? But yes, the answer is yes lady. I sat in the exam room for 45 minutes in my skivvies with a paper cloth dropped over my legs. The doctor came in a huff, sat down, scribbled some notes and asked without even looking at me "what are you here for?" I explained that I was in my second trimester of pregnancy and had very itchy red bumps all over my body (even my arm-pits). I explained quickly that I went to my obgyn and he ran bloodwork and told me to come see a dermatologist. The doctor took out his prescription pad from his pocket, never looking at my legs or bumps or anything! Scribbled something down on the pad, handed me a pamphlet and said I had hives. (no *hit sherlock). I asked if he wanted to see them and he angrily replied. "You have hives, theres nothing you can do about it. This prescription I'm writing you won't even help. They will clear up after pregnancy." Being in shock, I asked again, "You don't even want to see them?" He again very annoyed said, "I don't have to look at them. Some pregnant people get them. This is your first pregnancy isn't it? Pregnancy is hard sweetie." With that he was out of the room. And that was it - probably under 4 minutes in the room. I can't wait to get $130-$150 bill for a complete waste of 55 minutes waiting and less than 4 minutes with a doctor. *Sidenote, after the worst 4 weeks of my pregnancy, I finally got them to clear up with some herbal remedies I found online. Also, that prescription ended up in the trash. I looked up the med and it was associated with "possible" birth defects. No thanks Glazer Dermatology. Time for someone to retire. People require a bit more of a bedside manner these days. read more

I don't mind waiting to be seen by a doctor. REALLY! I don't! However, when I checked in for my appointment, no one told me that the doctor was running over 45 minutes behind schedule. I don't like to be the type of person to complain at a doctor's office but I was on a bit of a tight schedule. I scheduled a 10:15 appointment and at 11am I asked if I was "forgotten" about. They said they'd look into it and that the doctor (Fretzen) was running behind. If they had told me this when I had checked in, I wouldn't have been so irritated. They brought me to a room and I waited for another 10 minutes and just walked out the door. Don't schedule patients if you can't accommodate them. It's plain disrespectful and a waste of time. I feel bad since my parents are such good patients there but it needs to be said. I'm going to Derick Dermatology tomorrow in Barrington instead. I will let you know how that goes. read more

If anyone ever recommends Dr. Glazer to you for Botox or fillers, as did someone close to me whom I trusted, RUN, RUN far away from the Butcher of Buffalo Grove. When I called to make my appointment, I inquired about prices. I do not think this is abnormal. It seemed very fair. I am new to the area and his price seemed in line with what I'd been paying for years. So I made the drive up from the Gold Coast. Imagine my shock when presented with my bill which was $200 over what I was quoted on the phone. When I questioned it, the very rude and unprofessional woman at the front desk remarked snidely that I needed a lot of work and they never give prices over the phone. She very nastily said to someone go get the doctor to explain to this woman why she's being charged what she's being charged. Dr. Glazer, who is really a very nice man, really, explained how many cc's he used and the price of each. Ok, that's all I wanted to know. If he does a great job, so it's more, to me it's worth it if I look great. In the 18 years I've been getting Botox, I've never seen such terrible results. Not only do I have Dr. Spock eyebrows, I also have strange lines and hollows above my brows. I now have frown lines I never had before, deep ones. I look like an angry old woman. This is coming from someone who's always been mistaken as being at least 20 years younger than my actual age. To say I'm emotionally upset is an understatement. A side note, as I did not change my name when I got married, I always book appointments in my maiden name. I guess no one bothered to read further down my chart where under spouse I listed my husband, a doctor, who makes referrals on a daily basis to dermatologists, let's all guess who he will NOT be referring. He also said I should have refused to pay the significant difference in price. He doesn't want this man to even try to fix it if he could. Between the horribly rude and nasty front desk, the outrageous difference in price, the horrible results, I would have given this practice 0 stars. The 1 star is because, as I said earlier, Dr. Glazer is really a very, very nice and personable man. Too bad his work is not the same. read more

I chose this facility because 2 different people told me they were very good and I thought it was more medical focused rather than cosmetic - however this did not seem to be the case. When I scheduled my appointment they didn't ask what the appointment was for. As a first time patient I expected more of the doctors time and time - however, I spent less than 15 minute in the exam room (maybe 5 with the doctor). Everything about the appointment felt rushed. Much to my displeasure was prescribed medications I should not be using - as rushed as it was - I did mention the issues that are contradictory to using the medicine I was given. They probably overbook appointments or the office is understaffed. There are a lot of staffs at the front desk but the atmosphere is not at all friendly. Expect a long wait to see your doctor. Perhaps you should arrive late instead of earlier. We were early by 15 minutes and had to wait an additional 40 minutes for my daughter's name to be called. When we were inside the patient room we waited another 15 minutes to see the doctor. The doctor quickly gave a cream prescription and we were rushed out - we probably saw the doctor for about 2 minutes. read more

I have been to Dr. Fretzin twice in the past year, and this review is intended to reflect him as a physician (which the only negative thing I have to say is in regards to the front desk b**ches that I have to deal with- who are needless to say, less than friendly, helpful, etc.- SERIOUSLY, get some new receptionists Glazer). Ok, so in regards to the dermatologist (Dr. Fretzin) that I see- I have never met a more down-to-earth, straight forward, no BS, caring, empathetic, etc. physician as him- and I have professionally worked with probably over 200 MD's the past 5 years! I highly recommend him, and will likely only seek a new dermatologist when he retires (which will probably be a long, long time since he is relatively young). read more
